The Former Shichibukai Who Stands in the Way

Nami leans forward with a shocked expression, shouting "WAIT A MINUTE, WOULD YOU!I WHAT ARE YOU TWO SAYINGI!I!" and "LUFFY...!!! JIMBEI!!". In a rocky underwater area, Jinbe stands facing Shirahoshi, who declares "AND I AM SAYING THAT YOU MUST NOT!!!" and "...AND KICK THAT HORDY GUY'S ASS!!!" while adding "I'M GONNA GO TO THE PALACE, SAVE MY FRIENDS...". Small fish swim in the background near a large handprint on the rock wall. In the next panel Chopper yells "STOP THIS, YOU GUYS...!!!" while Sanji questions "SERIOUSLY...I! DO WE REALLY NEED YOU HEREI!".

Shirahoshi rides the giant shark Megalo, who charges forward with mouth open as she cries "SHARK!! TAKE ME TO THE RYUGU PALACE!!!" and "LUFFY-SAMA!! BOSS JIMBEI-SAMA!!". Megalo lets out "RRHH HHHI!". Luffy turns with a surprised "HMI". A fish-man performs "FISHMAN KARATE...". Luffy then launches a powerful punch, yelling "SAMEGAWARA SEIKEN!!!" as the impact creates a massive shockwave with the onomatopoeia "ドゴン!!" and "バキン" while the fish-man is struck and sent flying.

The massive impact sends Hody Jones flying backward with a pained "NGUAH HHHHH HH...!!!". Nami watches in shock as Luffy's punch damages the enemy's body. Chopper cries "EHI! HIS PUNCHES DAMAGE LUFFY'S BODYI!" while Luffy himself grunts "UNGH H!!" and "URGGH... THAT HURT!!" with the effect "ビキョ...!!". Shirahoshi shouts "LUFFY-CHIN!!!". In the final panel Jinbe explains "USING THE POWER OF THE WATER IN THE ATMOSPHERE, IT SENDS POWERFUL WAVES THAT IMPACT THE WATER WITHIN THE OPPONENT'S BODY!!!" and "THE SECRET OF FISHMAN KARATE LIES IN THE MASTERY OF THE WATER....!!!" as silhouettes of fish-men performing techniques appear behind him.

Luffy stretches his arm back with a fierce grin, shouting "GOMU GOMU NO..." as a massive impact erupts. A voice declares, "EVEN A RUBBER MAN CANNOT ESCAPE THIS TRUTH!!!" while another states, "ALL LIVING BEINGS ARE FILLED WITH WATER!!" Hody Jones, now massively muscular and veined, launches a devastating kick labeled "JET STAMP!!!" followed by a crushing "STAMP!!" that sends Luffy reeling. Luffy's face twists in pain and shock as he is hurled backward. From below, Hody taunts, "...IS THIS ALL THAT YOUR TRAINING HAS ACHIEVEDI!!" Motion lines and impact bursts fill the panels as the brutal exchange continues.

Sanji and others react in alarm as someone yells "ROBIN-CHAN IS IN TROUBLE!!" Robin appears with a calm but firm expression, declaring "THAT'S ENOUGH." A sudden powerful strike lands with a massive "ゴゴン" impact, sending bodies flying. Franky shouts "ROBIN!!! GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!" while another voice demands "WHO ARE YOU!! MOVE YOURSELF!!!" Robin stands her ground with arms raised as chaos erupts around her. Nearby, Usopp and others are caught in the violent clash.

The fierce underwater brawl continues with Hody Jones and Luffy trading heavy blows amid swirling currents. The fight spills into a lush underwater forest. Robin, breathing heavily with "*PANT*" effects, stands with a mermaid companion. She asks, "WHY IS ROBIN COMING OUT OF THE FORESTI!" while another voice wonders, "AHAH... I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON EXACTLY..." A figure states, "BUT WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE HERE, YESI WE SHOULDN'T BE FIGHTING AMONGST OURSELVES." Luffy looks on with a puzzled "EHHII"

King Neptune sits heavily on the ground, addressing Luffy with urgency: "IF YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS START RAMPAGING ACROSS FISHMAN ISLAND, WHAT WILL THE RESULT BE...I!" and "THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING, LUFFY...!!!" Luffy clenches his fist, listening intently as Neptune continues, explaining the deep-seated hatred: "'HUMANS LOOK DOWN ON FISHMEN AND DETEST THEM!'... 'HUMANS ARE A VIOLENT AND DANGEROUS RACE!'..." Neptune adds, "...IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN HUMANS WHO HAVE STOOD IN OUR WAY. EVERY TIME OUR RACE HAS ATTEMPTED TO MAKE PEACE WITH THE HUMANS..." The narration reveals the painful history of fishmen being hunted, with scenes of past cruelty shown in the background.

Jinbe looms in close-up, his face twisted with anger as he addresses the group. "EVEN IF YOUR ACTIONS DID SUCCEED IN SAVING FISHMAN ISLAND FROM THIS CRISIS... SEEING HODY'S ATTEMPTS TO STAND AGAINST THE HUMANS MERCILESSLY CRUSHED... IF YOU, THE VERY HUMANS RESPONSIBLE FOR ARLONG'S DEFEAT......WERE TO STAND AGAINST HODY NOW AS WELL, WHAT WOULD THEY THINKI!" In the next wide panel he continues, "THE PEOPLE WOULD SEE IN YOU......THE SHADOW OF THAT DARK HISTORY...!!!...WOULD ONLY SERVE TO REINFORCE THEIR DOUBTS AND FEARS ABOUT HUMAN-KIND!!" Nami stands with tears in her eyes, hands clasped near her face. "IF WE SIT HERE AND DO NOTHING, FISHMAN ISLAND WILL FALL COMPLETELY INTO HODY'S GRASP. THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE ON THAT ISLAND WHO WE CALL FRIENDS..." Sanji, bruised and smoking, replies from the side, "...BUT IT'S ONLY NATURAL FOR US TO SAVE OUR OWN CAPTURED COMRADES. I GET WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO SAY, JIMBEI..."

Hachi appears battered and bandaged. Nami presses him, "BUT YOU SAID SOMETHING EARLIER. YOU SAID HORDY ISN'T AFRAID TO VICTIMISE HIS FELLOW FISHMEN IF THEY SHOW SYMPATHY TOWARDS HUMANS. YOU SEEM PRETTY DETERMINED NOT TO TELL US HOW YOU GOT SO BEAT UP... HEY, HACHI..." Hachi only answers with ellipses. Nami's eyes widen in realization. "...BECAUSE YOU TRIED TO STAND UP FOR US...I!...DID HORDY'S LOT GIVE YOU THOSE WOUNDS..." Luffy stares in shock as Jinbe's anguished face fills a panel. "NYUU LULU... I......THAT ARLONG'S WILL STILL LIVES ONI!!! HOW COULD I FACE HIM WITH THE KNOWLEDGE... HATCHIN, IS THAT TRUEI! DID HORDY AND HIS CRONIES DO THIS TO YOUI!"

Jinbe stands firm. "WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH REASON TO FIGHT!!! WE CAN'T JUST IGNORE WHAT'S GOING ON HERE...!!! JIMBEI!! I KNOW THIS ISLAND IS YOUR HOME......AND I THINK THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS LUFFY HAS TO ACT RIGHT NOW." Luffy explodes forward, eyes bulging, shouting at the top of his lungs, "YOU HEARD HIM - MOVE IT, JIMBEI!!!! I'VE SAID I'M GOING, AND I MEAN IT!!! BECAUSE THIS IS CAIMIE-CHAN'S HOME! AND SHIRA-HOSHI-CHAN'S HOME! THE GLORIOUS MERMAID PARADISE OF MY DREAMS!" Jinbe roars back, "LEAVE THIS TO ME!!! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!!!"

Luffy snarls with rage, teeth bared. "STOP THAT, YOU TWO!!! THEN I'LL JUST HAVE TO BEAT YOU UP FIRST!!! GRRRR...!!!" A wide view shows the vast underwater landscape with the distant palace and scattered fish-men. Below, the Ryugu Palace rises in intricate detail. A fish-man soldier reports, "THE RYUGUU PALACE IS AN IMPENETRABLE FORTRESS...!!! NO... I DON'T THINK THERE'S MUCH NEED. SO, BOSS... ARE YOU GONNA LEAVE ANYONE BEHIND HERE IN THE PALACEI! LEAVE A FEW MEN TO OPEN THE GATES WHEN WE RETURN. THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH."

Inside the grand hall of the palace, fish-men soldiers and officers gather beneath a massive chained chandelier. One soldier asks, "HEY, BOSS! WHAT ABOUT THOSE THREE STRAW HATS...I" Another groans, "UGHH... MY WOUNDS FROM FIGHTING THAT SWORDSMAN ARE STILL ACHING..." A third worries, "WOULDN'T WANT THE KING TO GET LOCKED OUT OF HIS OWN PALACE, AFTER ALL, WOULD WE...I" while another laughs, "GYAHA HAHAH!! YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!" In the next panel Hody Jones, muscular and shirtless with a wild mane, demands, "WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, HOW ARE THINGS GOING WITH THE NEW RESIDENTS COMING FROM THE FISHMAN DISTRICTI" A subordinate reports, "IT LOOKS LIKE THE MIGRATION IS ALREADY UNDERWAY..." Hody continues, "EVEN IF SOMEBODY COMES TO SAVE THEM, THEY'LL NEVER GET INTO THE PALACE. THOSE THREE ARE ONLY HUMANS. THEY'LL DROWN TO DEATH SOONER OR LATER. MY ENERGY STEROIDS ARE RUNNING OUT... BRING ME SOME MORE!" The bottom panel shows a close-up of a fish-man officer with a trident and hat declaring, "WE WILL MAKE THIS INTO A FINE COUNTRY......FILLED ONLY WITH PROUD, HUMAN-HATING CITIZENS. JAHA HAHAHAH!!" while another voice adds, "GOOD. THERE'LL BE PLENTY OF SPACE FOR THEM SOON ENOUGH. THOSE WHO FLEE THE COUNTRY... THOSE WHO ARE KILLED... THEIR RESIDENCES CAN BE READIED FOR NEW OCCUPANTS."

The scene shifts to Sweet Factory Town. A massive dragon-like creature smashes through stone walls as panicked citizens scream. One shouts, "HE'S CHEWING UP THE STONE FACTORY WALLS....!!" Another cries, "DARUMA-SAAAN!! WHAT ARE YOU...I!" while a third wonders, "WHAT ARE THAT MAN'S TEETH MADE OF...I" Daruma, the Cookiecutter Shark Fishman, bursts forward with a wild grin, roaring, "MY FANGS ARE THIRSTING FOR MORE!! KYAKKKKL YYAHHH!!" as he bites into stone with a loud CRUNCH!! and MMMMM MLRGH!! sound effects. The large title "DARUMA (COOKIECUTTER SHARK FISHMAN)" appears at the bottom of the page amid the destruction.

Daruma continues his rampage, snarling, "MY FAVOURITE FOOD IS FISHMAN BONES, YOU KNOW!!!" and threatening, "YOU WANT ME TO TEAR YOUR FLESH APARTI!!! I'LL BEAR THAT IN MIND!" A fish-man in a top hat apologizes, "W... WE'RE SORRY, DARUMA-SAN!!" while another complains, "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE, BRINGING ME CAPPUCCINO AND SWEETSI!! YOU CALL THIS A SNACKI!! WHAT AM I, AN OFFICE LADYI!!" In the next area, the top-hatted fish-man orders, "I'M GOING ON AHEAD TO GYONCORD PLAZA!! EVERYONE'S GOTTA BE THERE - DON'T BE LATE, YOU GOT THATI!" Another replies, "...WELL, WHATEVER. I'LL BE ABLE TO FEAST ON THE ROYALS AND THEIR SOLDIERS BEFORE LONG, ANYWAY." Citizens react in fear as one asks, "AND WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH THE CITIZENSI!" while Daruma laughs wildly, "KYAKKYA KKYAH...!!" and another voice wonders, "...WHAT KIND OF FATE AWAITS THEM...!! KYAKKYAHH!!" A fish-man states, "NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING. EACH OF 'EM ALREADY OUGHTTA KNOW..."

Daruma launches a ferocious attack, biting and thrashing with massive sound effects "ギャグッ", "ギャグッ", "バクンッ", and "ギャグギャッ". He slams into the ground in a cloud of debris. In the background, a fish-man reassures, "I'M SURE THE PRINCES WILL PULL THROUGH!!!" while another explains the situation: "INCLUDING HODY HIMSELF, FOUR OF THE LEADING MEMBERS OF THE NEW FISHMAN PIRATES ARE SHARK FISHMEN... ANOTHER IS A GIANT SQUID......AND THEY'VE HIRED THE GREATEST SWORDSMAN ON FISHMAN ISLAND AS A BODYGUARD... BUT ON OUR SIDE, WE HAVE THE THREE NEPTUNE BROTHERS TO RELY ON..."

A massive skull-shaped ghost with dripping black tears bursts through the ceiling of the Ryugu Palace indoor pool, shouting "I HAVE FOUND ITTT TTTTTTT!! OUR RAY OF HOPEEE EEEEEEE!!" as huge Japanese SFX "ひゅーう!!!" explode around it. The ghost, revealed as Brook, hangs inside an ornate birdcage suspended by chains. Zoro, visible inside the cage with the others, asks "...SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT...I" while thinking "THIS GUY IS GETTING CREEPIER AND CREEPIER..." A voice notes that the palace has become almost empty except for Pappagg-san. Brook excitedly explains his new ability: "OH YES, IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING! ONE DAY WHEN I WAS KNEELING DOWN AND PRAYING A LITTLE... MY SOUL JUST SUDDENLY SLIPPED RIGHT OUT! YOHOHO HOHOHO!" Zoro snaps "I'M JEALOUS!!! ZORO, I'M SO JEALOUS OF THIS GUY!!!" and "OH, SHUT UP!!" while Brook wonders "...WHAT DO YOU THINK I DID~I" and recalls "WHY, THE DAY I FIRST GOT THIS ABILITY... I CAN FLOAT AROUND AND PEEK THROUGH WALLS..."

Zoro tells Brook "NO NEED FOR ALL THAT... JUST TELL HIM TO BRING ONE OF MY SWORDS." Brook replies from the cage "ANYWAY, BROOK!! WHY DON'T YOU GO AND ASK PAPPAGG......TO GO AND FIND THE KEYS TO OUR CHAINS! AND THE KEYS TO THIS CAGE AND TO THIS ROOM..." Zoro reacts with "GUEH H... THAT... ALSO WORKS...!!" and declares "I'LL SLICE THROUGH THE LOT." Suddenly the scene shifts to a panicked fish-man guard screaming "AAAAAAAAA ARGH HHH HHH!!! STAY AWAY FROM ME, GHOST!!!" as Brook's flaming skull form appears before him. The guard yells "PAPPAGG-SAAAAAN!! IT'S ONLY MEEEE!! WE'RE IN QUITE A HURRY!! WE NEED YOU TO FIND A KEY... I MEAN, A SWORD!!" while Brook's voice calls "WAIT A MOMENT!!"
