Chapter 978: Introducing the Tobi Roppo

The lower panels show a crowded deck with various characters in hats and coats reacting amid the chaos, then a massive splash as the vessels collide violently with waves and impact lines.

Multiple characters stand alert on a deck. One warns, "WE COULD GET ATTACKED AT ANY MOMENT!!" Another shouts, "GET READY!!!" In the next panel a stern man declares, "IF WE WERE TO FAIL, THESE PAST 20 YEARS WOULD'VE BEEN IN VAIN!!" A voice answers, "ARE YOU UNDERESTIMATING US DENJIROII" Someone laughs, "WAHAHA LOOKS LIKE YOU WENT THROUGH A LOT!! BUT IT WILL SOON BE OVER!!" and another cheers "YEAH!!" Luffy appears wide-eyed in close-up, reacting with shock as a small figure leaps nearby and a cloaked man in a hat exclaims "OH!!"

The alliance stares across the water at a massive, ominous island dominated by a colossal skull-shaped mountain and ornate, lantern-lit structures. "LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE NOT EXPECTING AN ENEMY ATTACK..." a voice notes. "HAVE THEY YET TO RECEIVE KANJURO'S REPORTI" another wonders. Kin'emon, sweat on his face, declares, "IF WE WANT TO LAUNCH A SURPRISE ATTACK, IT'S NOW OR NEVER...!!!" The full view reveals the sprawling fortress of Onigashima with bridges, towers, and a giant central skull. "ONIGA-SHIMAI!!" someone exclaims in shock. "SO THIS IS..." another begins. In the lower panels the crew reacts with awe: "SO THIS IS KAIDO'S HQI!" "I'VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE." "IT'S GIGANTIC...!"

Usopp peers through a telescope and shouts, "LOOKOUTSI!" The group discusses the distance: "IT IS A GREATER DISTANCE THAN WE EXPECTED!" and "IF WE WERE TO BE SPOTTED, A COUNTER ATTACK WOULD BE BEST BUT..." Nami and others scan the scene while a dark-skinned crewmate growls, "HMI!" Someone calls out, "HEYI ARE YOU LISTENINGI" and notes, "I CAN SEE SOME SHIPS." Observing shadows over the water, a voice reports, "THERE WERE SOME SHADOWS OVER THERE... BUT NOT TO WORRY, THEY'VE FALLEN ASLEEP NOW!" with snoring sounds "くかー" and "NEMURI-SO". Usopp then fires an attack, yelling "NEMU-RISO!!!" and "MIDORI BOSHI!!!" as the projectile explodes toward the targets.

The crew debates the landing plan. "BE PREPARED TO DISEMBARK AT ONCE!" one orders. Concerns arise: "IN SUCH AN OPEN PLACE, OUR ARRIVAL WILL ALERT THEM!!" and "BUT IF WE WERE TO ARRIVE WITH SUCH AMOUNT OF SHIPS..." Luffy listens intently. Suddenly the ships begin sinking with "GLOU GLOU..." sounds. Luffy yells in alarm, "WHAT HAPPENED TO THEMI" and "WHATI THE SHIPS ARE SINKINGI!" In a close-up, he declares with fierce determination, "WILL NOT NEED SHIPS TO RETURN BACK! THEY MUST SINK... BECAUSE WE..."

The alliance continues strategizing aboard the ships. "WE SHOULD MANAGE TO HIDE SOME SHIPS! YOU GUYS DISEMBARK FIRST." one says. Another snaps, "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT YOU IDIOT!" while worrying, "WHAT ABOUT THE SUNNY...I" and "BUT IF WE HAD TO RUN AWAYI" A voice urges, "EVERYONE DON'T GET CAUGHT IN DOUBT." and "DO NOT GET SPOTTED." The samurai's resolve is highlighted: "THIS SHOWS THE SAMURAI'S DETERMINATION." In the final spread the crew stands ready amid the chaotic waters and Onigashima backdrop, declaring, "OR DIE... IF WE WIN... WE SHOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE CHALLENGED A YONKO...!!!" with "GLOU GLOU..." sounds continuing as ships sink.

Samurai and Beast Pirates clash in the streets as more enemies appear. "DID THESE GUYS APPEAR!I" someone shouts. "SINCE WHEN.." another voice questions. THE SAMURAIS TAKE ON THE APPEARANCE OF THE BAD GUYS!" as "どろん!" smoke erupts. "TAC TAC!" sounds echo. A woman with dark hair watches and says, "LOOK AT THE END OF THE BRIDGE!! BUT WAIT, CHOPPER...". In a dramatic close-up, the massive Queen appears laughing "FAFAFA! IT'S HOW OUR ENEMIES DRESS LIKE!" while adjusting his goggles. "HEY! WHAT IS THISI!" he roars as impact lines and "ぐん!!" shake the panel.

Queen continues, "SO ATTACK AS YOU PLEASE, BUT... YOU GUYS MAY LOOK LIKE PIRATES... JUST KNOW THE ENEMY OUTNUMBERS US, ABOUT ONE TO FIVE!!" Luffy bursts from a cloud of smoke shouting "KIN'S GRAND STORE!!" and "IT'S MY SECRET TECHNIQUE." A woman with horns cheers excitedly while Luffy pumps his fists in joy. "AH!" and "OHHH!" ring out. A stern man glares, "I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU MAKE USE OF MY CAMOUFLAGE!". From a giant skull-shaped stage, Queen warns, "...OR IF THEY GET DESTROYED!! COMRADES!! TRY TO AVOID AS MUCH CONFRONTATION AS POSSIBLE UNTIL WE REACH THE CASTLE AND OUR FINAL BATTLE BEGINS! HOWEVER, MY TECHNIQUE... WILL REVERT YOU BACK TO YOUR KIMONOS AS SOON AS YOU TAKE OFF YOUR COSTUME."

The crowd cheers "YEAH!!!" as Queen declares "LET THE WAR REIGN DOWN FORTUNE ON US!". A massive skull stage labeled "IT'S THE ANNUAL GOLDEN KAGURA" dominates the scene with "FSS..." effects. Queen spins records on turntables shouting "QUEEN!!!" while declaring "IF I GET SKINNY I'LL GET TOO PRETTY!" and "SO SHOULD I STAY BIGI". "FSS" and "ズンズン" musical notes fill the air. Women cheer "QUEEN!!!" with hearts as Luffy leaps forward yelling "HERE I AM!!" amid "ズィプ ズィプ" and "ロッキンロッキー" sounds. The festive Golden Kagura performance rages on.

Onigashima erupts in celebration. Queen shouts "WAITERS!! ARE YOU GUYS GETTING HYPED FOR THIS EVENINGI!" as the Waiters group roars "YEAH!!!" with signs reading "THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR A SMILE. THE WAITERS". The Pleasures section cheers "PLEASURES!!!" and "YEAH!!!" under their label "THE ONES WHO LOST ON THEIR GAMBLE. THE PLEASURES". Gifters yell "GIFTERS!!!" beneath "THE ONES WHO OBTAINED A POWER. THE GIFTERS". In the massive crowd below, fists pump wildly as someone yells "OK, ONIGASHIMA AAAA!!!" and the entire hall erupts with "オオオオオオ" and "FUNK!!" while Luffy and others raise their arms shouting "YEAAH HHH!!".

A massive horned figure launches forward with a flying kick, shouting "FLYING SIIIIX!!!" as another yells "YEAH!!" and "SHINU-CHIII!!!". A banner declares "THE GIFTER ELITE THE SHINUCHI". In the next scene a striped-horned man laughs wildly "HAHA! THEY NEVER RESPOND! GYAHHAHA!" while a blonde woman watches nearby. The view shifts to a grand building as the same man waves and declares "NOW FOR OROCHI'S CREW, THE SAMURAI PATROL!!!" Below, a chained group including a skull-faced horned figure and others chant "KUN YUN YUN! GOKI KIKI! HACHA CHA!!" while voices call "NOW, YOU MONSTERS, NUMBEERS!!!" and "LET'S IGNORE THOSE JOKESTERS! ♪". One figure screams "YEEEAAAHHH!!!" as another protests "YOU AREN'T SYNCHED UP!!" amid swirling smoke and debris.

Inside a room a large horned man grins "BIG MOM'S CHILDREN! FINALLY, SOME GUESTS THAT AREN'T SUCH STRANGERS ANYMORE!" as a voice answers "YES!!!" and another laughs "GU FUFU FU!" while "THE ONIWA-BAAN!!" is announced. A woman with horns reacts "HUHI!". Close-ups show the group arguing: one says "AHH, SO FRAGILE, WHAT ARE YOU MY GRANDPA ♡" while another snaps ""GRANDPAI!" SHUT UP!!!" and a third wonders "...WHAT IF...". FINALLY AN IMPORTANT DEMAND FROM KAIDO..." while X Drake questions "WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT LIKE THIS AFTER BEING CALLED FORI" Black Maria smiles "LILI-CHAN DOESN'T BACK DOWN FROM ANYONE, I LIKE THAT ♡". Who's Who orders "CAN YOU TWO BRATS BOTH BE QUIET FOR TWO MINUTESI" as Page One snaps "WHATI!!" and Ulti yells "SERIOUSLY, SHUT UP!! HEY SASAKI! IF YOU KEEP ON SCREWING AROUND LIKE THAT, I'LL TEAR YOU APART!!". A banner reads "TOBI ROPPO CREW OF THE HUNDRED BEASTS". Someone mutters "TSK, ISN'T THIS A FAMILY MATTERI IS KAIDO DUMB OR WHATI" while another warns "THEY AREN'T IN A POSITION TO LEAVE NOW! LET'S NOT CROSS THAT ROAD!!!".
