ROGER AND RAYLEIGH

A massive impact rocks the scene as a bear-like cyborg in a torn outfit is struck hard, shouting "AYE, AYE!!!" while swinging a weapon. An enormous crash sends debris flying with the cry "AIYAAA-AAHH!!!" echoing. In smaller panels, onlookers react in panic: "AND HE'S TAKING IT SO HARD!!!", "I'M SORRY...", "BUT HOW CAN A BEAR BE SPEAKING!!I". The bear continues yelling "AYE, AYEEE!!!" as another voice exclaims "WHAT A QUICK BEAR!!! WE CAN'T HANDLE IT AT ALL...!!!". A spotted-hat figure urges "HURRY UP, BEPO!!" while the bear smashes forward with a loud "BABAH!!" amid explosions and flying rubble.

The bear-like fighter roars amid flying debris and shattered structures, yelling "AYE, AYE!!" as someone shouts "DAMN, THEY SMASHED THE BRIDGE!!!" and "UWAAAH!!". A spotted-hat figure stares in shock with "...!I". The bear declares "AS LONG AS I'M NOT A SLAVE, I DON'T CARE... YOU'RE NEW, SO YOU'RE UNDER ME ON THE TOTEM POLE!!" while gripping a massive weapon. Nearby, a voice calls "CAPTAIN!! THAT'S...". The spotted-hat figure reacts with "THAT'S...!!!" as the bear is sent flying, with a voice noting "...EUSTASS AND..." amid the wreckage of a bridge and scattered metal.

Someone warns, "IT'S JUST BAD LUCK THAT THIS GUY IS HERE!!" In a chaotic spread of scattered swords and debris, a voice roars, "BAR-THOLOMEW KUMA...!!!" while another demands, "YOU'RE GOING TO LET US PASS."

At Grove 8, the Hound Pets Base, chaos erupts as Peterman is attacked. "DAMN IT!! THOSE GUYS!!" "ARE YOU STILL ALIVEI PETERMAN!!" "MR. PETERMAN!! HANG IN THERE!!" REALLY, CALL ME FOR ANYTHING AT ALL!!!" with a "バチン!!" sound. Later, a mermaid helps an injured man who groans, "AH! MY BACKPACK!" She replies, "TH... THANK YOU!!!" while another notes, "AH, ALSO, MISS MERMAID, THAT BASTARD PETERMAN HAD THIS!!!" The group waves goodbye as someone calls, "JUST STOP WINKING ALREADY. OKAY!! THANKS, YOU GUYS!!"

OH, RAY, WELCOME BACK. THAT WAS QUICK!!" Luffy is recognized: "MONKEY, YOU GUYS DID WELL FINDING HIM."

Luffy reacts in utter shock, eyes bulging and mouth wide open. "ON THE PIRATE KING'S SHIP!!I" A "CLOSED" sign hangs on the bar door. Inside Shakky's Rip-off Bar, the crew relaxes while Rayleigh stands at the counter. Luffy yells, "VICE-CAPTAIN!!I" Rayleigh explains calmly, "I WAS THE VICE-CAPTAIN... THE NAME'S SILVERS RAYLEIGH, NICE TO MEET YOU." Someone asks, "HACCHAN, DIDN'T YOU TELL THEMI" Hatchan replies, "NYUU... WE JUST NEEDED HIM FOR THE COATING." The Straw Hats lounge on the couch and floor, reacting with surprise to the revelation. A "ギャアア" sound effect punctuates the shock.

"WHY DOES THE OCTOPUS KNOW A LEGEND LIKE YOUI" Rayleigh, the man with glasses and long wavy hair, replies while holding his sword, "GOLD ROGER, I REMEMBER A ROOKIE BY THAT NAME... OR MAYBE NOT..." Shakky confirms, "ARLONG, RIGHTI SINCE THEN, WE HAD BEEN FRIENDS UP UNTIL HE JOINED THE SUN PIRATES." Brook, the skeleton in a top hat, adds, "THE CREW WAS CAPTURED BY THE MARINES, RIGHTI" Rayleigh notes, "BUT GOLD ROGER WAS EXECUTED 22 YEARS AGO. THEY DIDN'T GET YOU, THE VICE CAPTAIN...I"

Rayleigh leans forward with a grin. "ROGER GAVE HIMSELF UP..." The crew reacts with shock: "!!I" He explains, "... BECAUSE HE COULD SEE... THE END OF OUR JOURNEY." The bar patrons murmur in confusion. "WHY!I" "... THE 'PIRATE KING' GAVE HIMSELF UP!I" "MAY HAVE ACTED LIKE THEY HAD CAPTURED HIM..." "THE GOVERNMENT... AS A SHOW OF POWER..." Rayleigh continues, bowing his head to the table with visible strain, "ROGER... CAME DOWN WITH A TERMINAL DISEASE..." "... ABOUT FOUR YEARS BEFORE THE PUBLIC EXECUTION..." The crew stares in stunned silence as the revelation sinks in.

Rayleigh recounts the final days. "WAS A MAN FROM THE TWIN CAPES, CALLED CROCUS. HE WAS THE ONLY MAN WHO COULD EVEN EASE ROGER'S SUFFERING. WE ASKED HIM TO COME WITH US ON OUR 'LAST VOYAGE,' AS THE SHIP'S DOCTOR." A massive lighthouse on a hill is shown. "A DISEASE THAT NOBODY COULD CURE, THAT NOBODY COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT... EVEN ROGER WAS SUFFERING." "AT THE TIME, THE MOST FAMOUS DOCTOR, WHO WAS ALSO A LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER." The Straw Hats react: Nami, Zoro, and Luffy listen intently. "OUR CONQUEST OF THE GRAND LINE WAS OVER." "WE WERE TOLD IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE." "FINALLY, THREE YEARS LATER ROGER'S LIFE WAS STOPPED..." The crew realizes the connection. "NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT... HE DID SAY HE WAS A SHIP'S DOCTOR FOR A FEW YEARS." "AND HE WAS ON THE PIRATE KING'S CREW!!!" "EEHHH!!!I WASN'T THAT OLD MAN ON THAT CAPE FOR 30 YEARS!I" "FROM THE TWIN CAPES...!I HOW NOSTALGIC." Brook shouts, "C... C... CROCUS!!!I"

Brook panics, "BROOK!! HE MUST HAVE GONE TO LOOK FOR YOU GUYS!!" Rayleigh smiles knowingly. "CROCUS... MORE THAN ANYTHING, HE CAME WITH US BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING FOR A CERTAIN PIRATE CREW." "YOU ALL MET HIM... THAT MUST MEAN HE'S STILL DOING WELL! HE WAS TAKING CARE OF A WHALE..." Zoro questions, "SO AFTER YOU CONQUERED THE SEAS...I" Rayleigh answers, "AT THIS AGE... I STILL WANT TO SEE HIM AGAIN... HE WAS ONLY WITH THE CREW FOR 3 YEARS, BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE. HE WAS OUR NAKAMA...!!!" Nami, Chopper, and Franky react with surprise. "IT'S NOT LIKE HE WAS ALWAYS THE PIRATE KING..." "TO CALL ROGER 'THE PIRATE KING'..." "THAT'S WHERE IT REALLY STARTED... THE WORLD BEGAN."

At Shakky's Rip-off Bar, Shakky smokes calmly while speaking to the cloaked Silvers Rayleigh. "But Roger was happy..." she recalls. "Titles don't mean anything for a man about to die." Young Monkey D. Luffy stares in shock, mouth full, exclaiming, "He didn't have a future, but he didn't seem to care. He looked like he was enjoying it." Brook adds, "That was how he partied... and how he fought..." Rayleigh continues, "He was a man who loved doing things in the flashiest way possible..." A wide view shows the bar as Shakky explains, "I put my life on the line with those men, but now, I don't even know where they are or what they're doing. And then, about a year after we disbanded, but before long, under captain's orders, the Roger Pirates secretly disbanded... the entire crew split up... and one by one... they disappeared."

Shakky continues recounting the past to the group at the bar. "On that day, in the square... I heard that lots of men who would become famous pirates today showed their faces... The whole world watched as the Pirate King was executed." She adds, "Roger gave himself up... was arrested... and in his hometown, Logue Town, in East Blue, he was to be publicly executed." Close-ups show a young Rayleigh's intense expression as he remembers Roger's final words: "Partner... I'm not gonna die... I didn't go. These were the last words he said to me..." The narration builds: "Roger set off the 'Great Pirate Age'!!!! But with one word before his death, they intended the execution to be a warning to the other pirates. The world government and the Marines... must have been shocked." Crossed swords emphasize the moment.

Gol D. Roger's fierce face fills the page as he declares, "Try and find it. I left everything I have there. My treasureI If you want it, you can have it..." The scene shifts to the massive execution platform in Logue Town where Roger stands before a roaring crowd. "He set the whole world ablaze. In his last few seconds, with the fading spark of his life..." Back at the bar, the Straw Hats and others react emotionally. Usopp cries out, "He was my captain... and he lived a magnificent life...!!!" while others exclaim, "And I've never drank more either...!!! I've never cried more... I've never laughed more..." A small "...!!" bubble captures the stunned silence.

Nami, Usopp, and Shakky react in the bar. Nami says, "Then... it's almost like Roger planned and made this era." Usopp adds, "It's totally different from hearing it from someone who lived through it." Shakky murmurs, "I feel like I just heard something amazing..." In a flashback, a younger Rayleigh drinks heavily, declaring, "The only people who can create an era... are the people living it...!!!" as SFX show his gulps. He concludes, "Roger is dead." Luffy, wide-eyed, asks, "EhI You know Shanks, old manI" Rayleigh replies, "You know one of them, Shanks, pretty well. I'm certain that the people in the plaza that day received something from Roger..."

Luffy stares in shock as the old man reveals his past. "EEHHH!!! SHANKS WAS ON THE PIRATE KING'S SHIP!!I" Luffy blurts. "WHAT... YOU DIDN'T KNOW...I" the man replies. Nami and Zoro listen closely. "THOSE TWO WERE CABIN BOYS ON OUR SHIP," the man continues. "BUGGY. IF YOU'RE FROM EAST BLUE, THEN MAYBE YOU KNOW A PIRATE CALLED 'BUGGY'I" he asks Zoro. Zoro sweats, replying "LUH!" The man recalls, "WHEN I ASKED HIM ABOUT IT, HE LOOKED HAPPY AND TALKED ABOUT YOU...!!!" He adds, "HE WAS MISSING HIS TRADEMARK STRAW HAT... AND HIS LEFT ARM. JUST ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO... I RAN INTO HIM ON THIS ISLAND." A massive close-up shows a young Rayleigh grinning wildly. "THERE WAS A KID WHO SAID THE SAME THING AS CAPTAIN ROGER...!!! THE SAME WORDS AS THE CAPTAIN...!!!" he exclaims. "RAYLEIGH, I WAS TRULY SURPRISED!!! IN EAST BLUE...!!!"

Panic erupts across Sabaody Archipelago, Grove 27, Harbor. "AN ADMIRAL IS HERE...!!!!" someone screams. "A MARINE SHIP HAS BEEN SIGHTED IN THE HARBOR!!" another yells. "WE HAVE TO RUN AWAY QUICK, OR WE'LL DIE!!!" A frantic pirate shouts, "THEY'VE FIRED THEIR CANNONS!!! NO WAY WITHOUT WARNING!!I" as cannon fire erupts with "DODO DON!!" and "LAUNCH THE SHIP!! I DON'T CARE WHERE TO!!" A massive impact follows as someone rides the cannonball through the air. "SOME-ONE'S RIDING ON IT!!!" a voice cries. The rider's face fills the panel in terror: "NO...!!! THERE'S SOMETHING WEIRD ABOUT ONE OF THEM...!!!....!!!"

Explosions rock the harbor with massive "オオオオ" impacts and "PAKA!!" SFX. Debris flies everywhere. "NO WAAAAY!!!" someone yells in disbelief. A towering figure in a black coat and striped shirt stands amid the chaos, aiming a massive weapon. "YES... THIS IS KIZARU!!" a voice confirms. "FUU" he exhales calmly. Sentomaru grips his massive axe, shouting "YES... I'VE ARRIVED, PLEASE RESPOND." The admiral's arrival sends shockwaves through the area as pirates and bystanders react in horror.
