LUFFY VS USOPP

Inside the Going Merry, Nami yells in distress, "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!? NOTHING GOOD CAN POSSIBLY COME OUT OF THIS STUPID FIGHT!" She stands in the men's quarters where hammocks are strung up. Sanji and Zoro are resting in their hammocks. Nami pleads, "WHY MUST TWO GOOD FRIENDS DUEL EACH OTHER!? JUST CALM DOWN! WE JUST NEED TO CALM DOWN! USOPP ONLY SAID THAT STUFF BECAUSE HE LOST HIS HEAD FOR A MOMENT!" In another hammock, Luffy lies back, his straw hat covering his eyes. He replies coldly, "'WHAT'S DONE IS DONE.' RIGHT?"

Nami continues to argue, "NO! JUST APOLOGIZE TO HIM!! WE CAN SOLVE THIS BY TALKING IT OUT!!" A flashback shows Usopp standing on the rocky shore facing the Going Merry, declaring, "TONIGHT AT 10! I'LL COME BACK HERE! WE WILL DUEL FOR THE RIGHT... TO HAVE GOING MERRY!" Back in the present, Luffy's face is shown in a tight close-up, his expression intense and unyielding. "AFTER THE FIGHT, EVERYTHING IS OVER BETWEEN US!" Another close-up shows his eyes completely shadowed by his hat brim as he states, "...COMPLAIN ALL YOU WANT. THERE'S NO TURNING BACK..."

Sanji speaks up from his hammock, "USOPP IS NOT SO STUPID AS TO GIVE UP HIS LIFE... JUST FOR AN ARGUMENT..." Nami looks back at him, and Sanji continues, "IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WAY, IT WOULDN'T HAVE ENDED UP LIKE THIS. GO OFF AND CHILL IF YOU UNDERSTAND!! LUFFY..." Suddenly, Sanji turns his anger towards Zoro, yelling, "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST FINISH THEM OFF!? IF YOU HAD, USOPP WOULDN'T HAVE GOT ROBBED AND LOST HIS PRIDE!!" Zoro snaps back, "LOOK WHO'S TALKING!? YOU WENT OFF SHOPPING INSTEAD OF STAYING HERE TO HELP!!" Sanji retorts, "I'M A COOK! I WAS DOING MY JOB!!" Zoro argues, "DIDN'T THEY COME HERE DURING THE DAY!? THE FRANKIES!!"

Sanji and Zoro are now standing, glaring fiercely at each other. Nami stands between them, shouting, "SHUT UP, BOTH OF YOU! THIS IS NOT THE TIME!! THERE'S NO POINT ARGUING ABOUT IT!!" Sanji mutters, "NAMI...", while Zoro grumbles, "IT'S ALL THIS TRASH'S FAULT." The door opens with a clatter, and Chopper enters, looking downcast. Zoro asks him, "CHOPPER, DIDN'T YOU RUN AFTER USOPP...?" Chopper replies quietly, "......... I WANTED TO FINISH TREATING HIM..." He continues, "BUT HE FORCED ME TO COME BACK... USOPP IS IN THE CITY NOW... AND HE SAID..."

Chopper bursts into heavy tears, snot running from his nose as he relays Usopp's words: "'YOU AND ME ARE FINISHED!! GO BACK TO THE SHIP!'" Nami looks shocked and speechless. Separate panels show the somber reactions of Zoro, Sanji, and Nami. Nami says, "EVERYONE WAS SO HAPPY JUST THIS MORNING... AND WE STILL DON'T KNOW ROBIN'S WHEREABOUTS..." The Jolly Roger flag of the Straw Hat Pirates flutters in the wind. Luffy is shown from behind, looking out, as he says, "IT FEELS LIKE... THE WHOLE GROUP IS FALLING APART..."

A wide shot shows the city of Water 7 at night. A voice announces, "IT'S 10! USOPP IS COMING!" Luffy stands alone on the rocky shore, facing the city. He tells his crewmates on the ship, "DON'T COME DOWN, ALL OF YOU!" On the Going Merry, Chopper and Nami look out anxiously. Chopper cries, "HE'S HERE!! USOPP~!!!" A silhouette of Usopp approaches across the rocky terrain, his footsteps making a "ZAH..." sound.

Luffy looks at Usopp with a serious expression. "YOU LOOK DETERMINED, BUT... I HOPE YOU DON'T REGRET YOUR DECISION LATER!! THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!" A wide panel shows the two former friends facing each other on the barren, rocky shore, the wind blowing between them. Usopp is heavily bandaged, wearing his sniper goggles and carrying his satchel. He yells back defiantly, "STOP PRETENDING AND JUST COME GET ME! I CAME PREPARED!! I'LL BEAT YOU!!"

Usopp continues his speech, "DON'T THINK THAT I AM THE SAME AS YOUR PREVIOUS OPPONENTS WHO KNEW NOTHING ABOUT YOU, LUFFY! I'VE BEEN WITH YOU FOR A LONG TIME, AND... I KNOW YOU INSIDE OUT!!" On the deck of the Going Merry, Zoro, Sanji, Chopper, and Nami watch the confrontation. Nami pleads, "CAN'T WE STOP THEM!? USOPP IS HURT REALLY BAD!!" Zoro replies sternly, "GO INSIDE IF YOU CAN'T WATCH." Usopp points dramatically at Luffy. "DON'T BE TOO SURPRISED WHEN I TELL YOU THIS, LUFFY, BUT... I HAVE 8000 FOLLOWERS WAITING FOR MY SIGNAL!! SURRENDER NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!"

On the ship, Chopper falls for the lie, screaming in panic, "OH MY GOD~!! 8000 PEOPLE!!?" Zoro tells him, "YOU SHOULD GO INSIDE." Luffy, however, yells back angrily, "I AM PRETTY SURE YOU'RE JUST LYING, USOPP!!!" Usopp shouts, "THEN EAT USOPP SPELL!!!" He turns and runs away, yelling over his shoulder, "GIGANTIC RAZOR BLADES BETWEEN EACH AND EVERY TOOTH IN YOUR MOUTH!!!" Luffy cringes, yelling "GYAAA AAA~!!!" as he imagines it. From the ship, Zoro yells at Chopper, "GO INSIDE ALREADY!" Luffy recovers and charges forward, shouting "GOMU GOMU!!!" As Luffy approaches, Usopp suddenly stops and doubles over, coughing violently. "U... GEHO!!!"

Usopp falls to his hands and knees, coughing up a pool of blood. "CERTAIN-DEATH KETCHUP STAR!!!" On the ship, Chopper cries out, "WAAAH! USOPP!! SEE! SEE! SEE! I TOLD YOU HE'S HURT REALLY BAD!!" Zoro reprimands him, "IT'S FOOLISH TO PITY YOUR ENEMY AND LEAVE YOURSELF VULNERABLE!!" Luffy stops his attack mid-stride, looking concerned at Usopp's apparent collapse. Suddenly, Usopp whips out a dial from his coat. "FLASH DIAL!!!" A blinding burst of light erupts directly in Luffy's face. Luffy stumbles backward, blinded. "WUH..." Usopp immediately prepares his next move, yelling, "CERTAIN-DEATH!!"

Usopp fires his slingshot. "EGG STAR!!" The projectile hits Luffy squarely in the face with a splat. Luffy recoils, covered in raw egg. "AH! SO SMELLY! HOW OLD ARE THESE THINGS!!?" Usopp yells, "STUPID!! GET SERIOUS ALREADY!!" Usopp loads another shot, declaring, "THIS IS... MY FIGHTING STYLE!!" He continues, "YOU THINK THIS IS STUPID!? SOON, LUFFY, YOU WON'T THINK SO!! BY THE WAY, LUFFY, DON'T OPEN YOUR MOUTH SO WIDE!! YOU MAY GET BURNED!!" He fires again. "CERTAIN-DEATH *TABASCO STAR!!!" The spicy projectile flies straight into Luffy's open mouth. Luffy swallows it with an "UPU!!" His face immediately contorts in agony, turning red as he clutches his mouth.

Luffy leaps into the air, breathing a plume of fire from the intense heat of the hot sauce. "HOT~!!!" Usopp warns him, "ALSO, WHEN YOU'RE FALLING DOWN, YOU SHOULD LOOK OUT... BENEATH YOU!!" Luffy crashes onto the ground, which is now covered in sharp, black caltrops. He writhes in pain. "...AH!! IT HURTS!" Usopp taunts, "HOW DO YOU LIKE MY CALTROP HELL!!" On the ship, Nami watches in stunned silence, while Chopper exclaims, "USOPP IS SO... FAST!!" Usopp yells fiercely, "LUFFY!! I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU AND GET GOING MERRY, AND... I DON'T CARE HOW I DO IT!!"

Luffy struggles to get up from the caltrops, coughing. "*COUGH* DAMN IT!! SO SMELLY... SPICY... IT HURTS..." Usopp readies his slingshot again. "DIDN'T I TELL YOU? I'VE PREPARED ALL MY ATTACKS JUST FOR YOU!! YOU WON'T GET A CHANCE TO CATCH YOUR BREATH!! CERTAIN-DEATH" Usopp fires a barrage of projectiles. "*SHURIKEN SHOWER!!" Luffy leaps backward to dodge the incoming blades. "WAH!!" He lands hard on the rocky ground, panting heavily. "WUH..." Usopp stands ready, his slingshot drawn.

Luffy is on his hands and knees, panting heavily. "HEH... HEH... HEH... HEH..." He suddenly notices a hissing sound and gas swirling around him. "HUH? SMOKE!?" The gas makes a continuous "SHYUU..." sound. Usopp stands at a safe distance, panting as well. "HEH... HEH...!!" Usopp explains his trap: "WHILE I SURROUNDED YOU WITH GAS!! IT'S A BREEZE DIAL! I USED THE ROTTEN EGG TO STOP YOU FROM SMELLING IT..." Luffy looks up in shock as he realizes the danger.

On the ship, Sanji realizes the trap. "GAS! HE'S GOING TO..." Nami looks on in sheer terror. Usopp aims his slingshot directly at the gas cloud surrounding Luffy. "NO HARD FEELINGS!!" Luffy's eyes widen in panic. Usopp fires. "FLAME STAR!!" The projectile ignites the gas, causing a massive, violent explosion that completely engulfs Luffy in black smoke and fire.

The explosion is colossal, sending a massive shockwave and a towering plume of smoke into the night sky. On the ship, Chopper screams in terror, "UWAAAA! WHAT AN EXPLOSION!" The smoke billows out over the rocky shore, obscuring the battlefield. Nami screams out their names, "LUFFY! USOPP!!" As the smoke begins to clear slightly, Luffy is visible amidst the debris, looking battered and scorched.

Usopp sits on the rocky ground, exhausted and panting. "HEH... HEH..." A flashback sequence begins, showing happier times. Luffy is seen pointing excitedly from the deck of the Going Merry. "I SEE AN ISLAND!! WOW--- AWESOME!! WHAT KIND OF ISLAND IS IT!?" Another panel shows Luffy and Usopp laughing joyously together. "HAHAH HAHAH!!!" The flashback continues with the Going Merry sailing towards an island, as Luffy's voice rings out, "LET'S GO THERE~ GOING MERRY~ FULL SPEED AHEAD~!!" The final panel shows a close-up of the Going Merry's wooden figurehead, with what appears to be tears streaming down its face.
