The Pirate Sir Crocodile

A towering figure with stitched scars across his face looms over the scene, hook in hand and a massive coat billowing. He smirks and declares, "WELL... YOU CAN CALL ME WHATEVER YOU WISH..." while another voice laughs "KUHA HAHA." A small wanted-style poster appears beside him reading "ROYAL SHICHIBUKAI" PIRATE SIR CROCODILE FORMER BOUNTY: 81 MILLION BERI. Voices cry out "CROCO-DILE!" as the giant man stands unmoved. He continues, "IN ANY CASE," while a stern voice orders, "CEASE YOUR VIOLENT RAMPAGE AT ONCE, PIRATES..." Large impact lettering and the sound "FLAP..." fill the lower frame as Crocodile towers above the street.

In a sunlit town square, Sir Crocodile stands surrounded by armed pirates. One pirate shouts, "WHAT'S A 'GOVERNMENT'S DOG' WHO SOLD HIS SOUL FOR AUTHORITY LIKE YOU DOING PLAYING HERO!I" Another sneers, "DON'T YOU THINK YOU'RE UNDERESTIMATING US A LITTLE TOO MUCH!I OR DO YOU REALLY WANT TO TAKE ON MY ENTIRE CREW ALONE!I" Crocodile remains calm as the pirates charge. He commands, "TO THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH TO DIE, DUCK FOR COVER AT ONCE!" The crew answers "AYE-AYE, CAP'N!" while one yells "KILL 'IM! WE'RE TAKING THIS TOWN FOR ALL IT'S GOT! AIN'T NO ONE GONNA STOP US!" and another mocks "HA! LOOK AT THIS IDIOT JUMPING DOWN, ASKING TO BE KILLED!"

Crocodile blocks a barrage of swords and guns with his hook and bare hand, sending the attackers flying amid heavy impact lines. A pirate gasps, "SO THIS IS THE STRENGTH OF ONE OF 'EM SHICHIBUKAII" while another laughs wildly "GUAA HAHAHA!" Close-ups show Crocodile's scarred face and piercing eye as he remains composed. The defeated pirates tumble across the ground in the background.

Sir Crocodile stands victorious in the ruined square, hook raised high above fallen pirates and scattered weapons. Large sound effects "ドーン!!" echo across the sky. In a close-up, his stitched face grins as he tells the defeated men, "BUT WE'RE CUT FROM DIFFERENT CLOTHS, SWINE. WE MAY BE BOTH PIRATES," while they lie stunned at his feet.

A vast desert landscape stretches under a bright sun as distant figures react in shock. Multiple panels show panicked citizens pointing and shouting. A large central spread erupts with an excited crowd waving fists and yelling "CROCODILE!" and "CROCO-DILE!" In the foreground, Sir Crocodile stands tall in a sweeping black coat, his hook glinting as he faces the cheering masses. The city of Alubarna rises behind him with its distinctive domes and towers. Repeated cries of "CROCODILE!" echo from every side as the people surge forward in excitement.

The grand Alubarna Palace of the Alabasta Kingdom looms in the background. A sign reads "ALABASTA KINGDOM 'ALUBARNA PALACE'". Inside the throne room, King Nefertari Cobra sits in shadow while guards stand at attention. Speech bubbles convey his thoughts: "HE BEAT US TO THE ATTACK AGAINI", "I SEE...", "AS LONG AS THE CITIZENS ARE OKAY, I SUPPOSE IT'S FINE...", and "BY THE TIME WE ARRIVED AT NANOHANA, THE PIRATE ATTACK WAS ALREADY...". On the deck of the Going Merry, Monkey D. Luffy sweats nervously with hands on his cheeks, denying, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKIN' ABOUT." Sanji glares and retorts, "NO, I'M SERIOUS." The scene shifts to open sea where Sanji points accusingly: "NOW LET ME ASK YOU ONE THING. WHAT'S WITH YOUR SHIFTY-EYES THENI LOOK ME STRAIGHT IN THE EYES." and "I PROPERLY DIVIDED OUR FOOD SUPPLIES SO THAT LAST LONG ENOUGH FOR 8 PEOPLE TO REACH ALABASTA." Luffy panics, "CRAP! IT'S STILL THERE!I" while clutching his face. Sanji snaps, "HEY, IS THAT SOME LEFTOVERS I SEE STUCK TO YOUR MOUTHI" and "DON'T EVEN TRY TO MAKE ANY EXCUSES. YOU'RE A TERRIBLE LIAR." Luffy burps loudly as the argument escalates.

A violent impact strikes as a cloaked figure is sent flying with a loud "GAHH!". An attacker yells, "SO IT WAS YOU!". On the ship, the crew relaxes: Usopp chews while saying "HMM, I'LL THINK ABOUT IT. AFTER ALL, IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH...", Chopper munches with "MUNCH MUNCH", and a sign labels the group "ACCOMPLICES". Sanji stands with a cigarette as Nami watches from above. The final panel shows the Going Merry sailing on calm seas. Sanji remarks, "FOR SANJI'S SAKE AT LEAST..." while a duck quacks "QUACK." and someone adds, "GULP... GUESS WE SHOULD REALLY CATCH SOMETHING."

Nami stares in disbelief, hands raised. "CROCODILE IS ALABASTA'S HEROI" she exclaims. In the background, Usopp lies sprawled on the deck while Sanji sits on a barrel. Sanji explains the situation: "SO WHETHER IT'S A SHICHIBUKAI WHO GETS RID OF THE RAIDING PIRATES, OR THE MARINES WHO DO IT FOR JUSTICE, TO BE A 'ROYAL SHICHIBUKAI,' MEANS THAT YOU'RE A PIRATE EMPLOYED BY THE WORLD GOVERNMENT ITSELF." Nami leans forward, gesturing sharply. "THE PEOPLE ARE THANKFUL TO WHOEVER KEPT THEM SAFE. THE END RESULT IS THE SAME."

Usopp lies on the floor with a sleepy "ZZZ..." bubble. Nami sits against the wall, continuing, "WELL I GUESS THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED... BUT TO THINK THE SO-CALLED HERO OF ALABASTA, WOULD BE SECRETLY PLANNING ON TAKING OVER THE COUNTRY... I DON'T THINK ANYBODY WOULD'VE IMAGINED THAT EVEN IN THEIR DREAMS." Luffy suddenly bursts in with a flying kick, shouting "IS KICK THAT GUY'S ASS, RIGHT!I" Sanji replies calmly from below, "EITHER WAY, ALL I HAVE TO DO." Nami smiles and clasps her hands, "YES... IF WE CAN PUT A STOP TO THE CIVIL UNREST FIRST, AND CHASE AWAY BAROQUE WORKS, THEN ALABASTER WILL BE SAVED..."

Sanji sits with his hand to his chin, muttering "むく... BAROQUE WORKS... ずるっすぉっ". Chopper and a masked man discuss nearby. "EXACTLY HOW IS THIS B.W. ORGANIZATION SET UP AGAINI AND WHAT'S WITH THE 'MR' AND 'MISS' BUSINESSI" The masked man answers, "IT'S QUITE SIMPLE, REALLY." A ship fires a cannon in the distance as he continues, "AT THE TOP, YOU HAVE CROCODILE, WHO GOES BY THE CODENAME MR. O..." Nami listens intently while the masked man explains further, "AND EACH OF THESE AGENTS IS PAIRED WITH A FEMALE AGENT WHO'S SIMILAR TO THEM IN TERMS OF STRENGTH. MR. 13 AND HIS PARTNER MISS FRIDAY ARE A SPECIAL CASE SINCE THEY SERVE AS THE EXECUTIONERS THAT PUNISH THOSE WHO FAIL THEIR MISSIONS. THEN YOU HAVE THE 12 PEOPLE WHO ARE HIS 'AGENTS' THAT RECEIVE THEIR ORDERS DIRECTLY FROM MR. O. THESE 13 AGENTS ARE ALL NAMED MR. FOLLOWED BY A NUMBER SIGNIFYING THEIR RANK."

A full organizational chart titled "BAROQUE WORKS" is displayed. At the top: PRESIDENT Mr. 0 (CROCODILE) and VICE PRESIDENT Ms. All Sunday. Below them are Mr. 1 through Mr. 5 paired with Ms. Double Finger, Bon Kurei, Ms. Golden Week, Ms. Merry Christmas, and Ms. Valentine. Further down are the billions of subordinates: Mr. 6 to Mr. 12 paired with Ms. Mother's Day through Ms. Saturday. At the bottom, Mr. 13 (AKA. UNLUCKIES) and Ms. Friday lead the millions. Explanatory text states: "THIS IS THE BASIC RUNDOWN OF THE BAROQUE WORKS ORGANIZATION." Additional notes detail officer agents, frontier agents, and their roles in hunting pirates at the entrance of the Grand Line.

On the deck of the Going Merry, Luffy thrusts his fist high with a massive impact effect, yelling, "IS KICK CROCODILE'S ASS, RIGHT!I" Sanji sits on a barrel smoking and replies, "YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND A THING, DID YAI" Luffy grins and answers, "OH, I GET IT! SO ALL I GOTTA DO," while Usopp peeks nervously from behind a door. In the next panel the crew discusses their next move. Nami points out, "TAKING OVER ALABASTA IS B.W.'S FINAL OBJECTIVE..." as Sanji kicks a barrel and states, "SO ASSUMING THAT," with Usopp and Chopper listening nearby. The bottom row shows close-ups: Chopper in his hat asks about "'OFFICER AGENTS'..." Sanji smirks, a wide-eyed Usopp sweats heavily, and Nami holds up a finger, saying, "THEN THOSE ONES YOU CALL," as the crew plans their confrontation with Baroque Works.

The Straw Hats continue their tense exchange in tight panels. Nami says, "YES..." Luffy beams with a huge grin, Usopp shouts, "SHOULD ALL..." and Sanji stands with arms crossed looking serious. The page then cuts to a dramatic full-width spread of Baroque Works agents gathered in shadow. A massive cloaked figure with a hook stands at the center while other agents in dark coats and weapons surround him. A large speech bubble declares, "BE GATHERING IN ONE PLACE." At the bottom the volume text reads, "VOL. 17 'HILULUK'S CHERRY BLOSSOMS' (END)".
