At Navy HQ, Garp is contacted about an emergency far away. He complains, "You want me to go way out to the boonies to fight?! What's the point?!" The officer says they cannot explain everything but need him there, warning that if unverified reports are true the danger will be a disaster. Garp refuses to pity the Celestial Dragons on their little field trip and says he warned the Navy that poking Hachinosu would come back to bite them. The call changes when he hears that Roger is on the move too; Garp shouts that they should have led with that and says he is on his way. Meanwhile, on God Valley, the Celestial Dragons announce extravagant prizes for their human hunt, including 150 rare "rabbits" worth ten thousand points each and skill bonuses for single-hit kills.

News reaches Hachinosu that the Rocks Pirates have already set sail, and pirates shout that they have to hurry because this will shake the pirate world to its core. On God Valley in the West Blue, the island is surrounded by an impossible number of ships. A witness says they have never seen so many ships gather around a single island. The announcer declares that everyone is trapped in a hellish reality, that nobody will be able to escape, and that one day the incident will be forgotten and lost to history. Ten thousand civilians have been branded "rabbits" for the hunt, and one prisoner curses that the World Government chose God Valley for its resources, turning the island into a murder festival to claim what it owns.

The prisoners on God Valley confront the truth of the tournament. Someone says not a single one of them will still be alive in three weeks, and another asks how the world can possibly be fair. Ginny says they were told they would be freed if they survived until three weeks, but Ivankov snaps, "Like hell you will!!" He explains that in all the previous hunts there were exactly zero survivors, because the Celestial Dragons do not enjoy killing people who have already given up. They want their prey to hope and run so there will be a chase. The only real plan is to forget winning the rigged game and focus entirely on escaping from it.

Saint Garling rides through the hunt with deadly confidence, quickly scoring ten thousand points while the crowd asks whether his strategy is to target the high-value rabbits. A victim begs for help, and Garling cuts through the chaos like a celebrity athlete in a massacre. Elsewhere, Ivankov gets into a scuffle and is praised by a shark fisherman for his strong jaw. Ginny reveals the key to their escape: the tournament prizes. One prize is in the strongest class of Devil Fruits, allowing the eater to transform into an Azure Dragon, and another is the Paw-Paw Fruit, which can blast the user and others to distant islands. If they can get one of those fruits, they may be able to flee God Valley.

Ginny explains the escape plan: if any of them can eat one of the prize Devil Fruits, they can escape the Navy siege and this living hell. The prizes are kept at the very center of the island, which seems impossible for a handful of children and prisoners to reach, but Ginny says she is a professional thief and wiretapper. Two weeks earlier she leaked the information to the outside world so someone would come; a plan like this needs plenty of decoys running around. Kuma offers to help, saying his size and bulkiness will let him survive longer than most. Ivankov celebrates Kuma's courage and declares that he will not allow any of them to be killed: they are escaping God Valley together.

Explosions erupt offshore as notorious pirates swarm God Valley. Marines shout that the Rocks Pirates have come from the east coast and that they are being overwhelmed. The Rocks crew makes landfall in wild disorder, with its future legends already bickering. Whitebeard tells Rocks not to rush ahead, Linlin complains that treasure will be hers, Kaido is called a rookie, Shiki says he will snatch the prize from under everyone's noses, and the crew argues even while charging into battle. The Marines and God's Knights realize the island is now flooded with pirates in every direction. What began as a Celestial Dragon game has become a collision between the World Government, Rocks, and every force drawn by Ginny's leak.

The chaos escalates when the Roger Pirates also dock at God Valley. Marines ask what the pirate crews are playing at and beg the ships to avoid the west coast, while God's Knights are ordered to stand ready and protect the Celestial Dragons. Roger charges ashore, shouting at Rocks and saying he has felt something building all year. His crew teases him not to use the captain card to call dibs this time. At the same time, reinforcements arrive for the Navy: Vice Admiral Garp. The Marines cheer that they are saved, but Garp ignores everything except Roger, demanding to know where he can find him. Amid the mayhem, Ivankov, Ginny, and Kuma see the best possible chance to eat the prize fruits and escape.

Ivankov protects Kuma in the melee, yelling "Iva-chan!!" as the children and prisoners fight over the Devil Fruits. Ginny shouts for Kuma not to think and to just eat the fruit, while another voice demands that he hand one over too. Kuma bites into the Paw-Paw Fruit because Ivankov tells him he has to eat it if he wants to save the others. Ivankov, still trying to survive the stampede, calls the situation a victory over their captors if they can use the fruit to rescue people. Just as Kuma gains the power, a looming figure appears before him and someone cries, "Kuma?!" The sudden arrival changes the escape from a scramble over prizes into a confrontation with an even greater authority.

Saturn confronts Kuma directly, calling him the Buccaneer brat and saying he can either live as a slave or die because nothing else can be tolerated for someone of his kind. Saturn claims that this is what the tides of time have decided. Kuma, still a child, asks whether Saturn is somebody important and says he does not understand how someone can be born to be more or less important. Saturn asks what the point of being born is if Kuma was born to be a slave. Kuma answers that if he has some kind of power now, he is going to use it to save as many people as he possibly can, just like Nika. The narration says the fateful incident would soon be obscured by the shadows of history.

After God Valley, the scene returns to the Kingdom of Sorbet in the South Blue. Ivankov notes that the world only reported Garp's heroism, and Ginny says Morgans is nothing but a hack who prints what the world's top brass wants. They still have no idea what really happened on that island. Kuma, however, has already started helping people. Villagers thank "Kumachi" with tears of gratitude, saying he saved over five hundred souls during the disaster. Ivankov tells Kuma to stop talking nonsense when he says he could have saved more people, and Ginny asks how long he plans to pray. The people say his hands can bless others with freedom, calling them hands of liberation, and Kuma looks at the paw pads on his palms with wonder.

In Sorbet, Kuma chooses to live in a church. Ivankov jokes that it fits his personality, then announces that he is going off to sea and going back to his freedom. Ginny smiles and says she will never forget his face as long as she lives. Ivankov tells them no one ever does. He apologizes for not coming with Kuma right away, saying he wants to think about what he will do with his life, then tells his friends to take care. Since Ginny is four years older than Kuma, she appoints herself his elder and says he can leave it to big sis to work out how they are going to feed him. The page gives the three survivors a brief farewell and a fragile new beginning.

Kuma and Ginny build a life in the Sorbet Kingdom. Kuma chops wood and works hard while Ginny says that now they just have to sell it, with no more dumpster diving or stealing for them. They work hard and buy food from then on. When some children bully Ginny and call her a lying freak because she says she is older than Kuma, she fights back and tells them to pick on someone their own size. Kuma apologizes, explaining that Ginny is really a nice girl. He uses his paw power with a gentle tap, and the children's pains are blown away, leaving them amazed and asking whether he used some kind of magic. The locals sing "Kumachi, Kumachi," as his healing becomes part of village life.

Kuma and Ginny share meals in the church, eating happily as Ginny munches and says she is still hungry. Kuma calls her a real glutton, and she beams that the food is so good. She asks Kumachi how old he was when he became a slave. He answers four, and she excitedly says, "Me too!!" Kuma gently says she should not sound so excited about that. The simple meal overwhelms both of them. Ginny says her belly is actually full, then starts crying and calls out "Kumachi!!" Kuma also breaks down, saying he is just so happy. The chapter ends on their first taste of peace and hope, with two children who survived hell realizing they can finally be full, safe, and together.
