An angry chef in a tall hat points accusingly and shouts, “AND WHAT'RE YOU PLANNING TO DO BY TAKING AWAY THE VERY MAN WHO TRIED TO KILL YOU!I” A large bandaged man with an open mouth yells back, “HEY! DID YOU FORGET YOU INHALED POISON!I” Outside the Baratie restaurant, Sanji stands over the fallen Gin while another man lies injured on the deck. In a close-up, Sanji leans toward the seated Gin and asks, “WHEN HE WAKES UP, COULD YOU PASS HIM THIS MESSAGEI” Gin replies quietly, “SANJI…”

Sanji’s face fills the frame as he says, “LET'S MEET AGAIN, OUT ON THE GRAND LINE.” In smaller panels Gin lies on the ground replying, “WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT, THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT I WANT TO DO.” A bearded man growls, “PSH, YOU NEVER LEARN, DO YAI” Sanji answers, “YOU'RE… STILL GONNA BE A PIRATEI” Gin, now sitting up, admits, “DON KRIEG'S AMBITION BECAME MINE AS WELL… I GUESS BEFORE I REALIZED IT,” while the injured blond man remains slumped nearby.

Sanji is struck violently across the face, blood spraying as impact lines and stars burst around him. Nearby panels show Gin’s shocked face shouting “GIN!” and “!!I” while the Baratie shakes under “ガラン…!!” sounds. Gin stands with his back to the viewer and says, “I MIGHT… ONLY HAVE A FEW MORE HOURS TO LIVE…” The blond man on the deck reacts with surprise as debris and motion lines fill the scene.

Sanji stands with a determined grin, sweat on his face, and declares, "I'VE DECIDED THAT THIS TIME, I'LL DO THINGS OF MY OWN WILL... IN MY OWN WAY..." He adds, "SO IT MIGHT BE A BIT COWARDLY FOR ME TO MAKE THIS DECISION ONLY AT THE END OF MY LIFE, BUT IT'S STILL GOOD FOR ME NONETHELESS." In the next panels he reflects bitterly, "ALL I'VE BEEN DOING IS USING THE DON'S NAME AS A 'SHIELD' TO ESCAPE AND HIDE BEHIND. HA. LOYALTY TO THE DON, MY ASS!" The scene shifts to the floating restaurant Baratie where customers sit at the counter. Sanji continues, "IF I DO THAT, I WON'T HAVE A PLACE TO RUN AWAY TO, RIGHTI" A close-up shows his intense expression as he says, "ARE NOTHING BUT USELESS WORRYING. THAT GUY OVER THERE TAUGHT ME IT'S BETTER NOT TO WORRY ABOUT ANY OF THAT STUFF...!" He finishes with a wide smile, "SMILE! AS LONG AS YOU'RE PREPARED, THINGS LIKE BEING SCARED OF YOUR ENEMIES OR GETTING HURT,"

Inside Baratie, the cooks erupt in outrage. Patty and Carne shout, "THOSE SCUM CAN SWIM AWAY FOR ALL WE CARE! WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE TO GIVE A BOAT TO THE VERY PIRATES THAT ATTACKED US!I ARE YOU RETARDED!I" Sanji, looking annoyed, replies, "PATTY, CARNE! GIVE THEM THE BOAT WE USE TO GO OUT AND BUY INGREDIENTS." The cooks protest, "HOW'RE WE GONNA BUY FOOD SUPPLIES IF WE GIVE THEM OUR BOAT, YOU NUMBSKULL!" and "ALWAYS ORDERING US AROUND! WHY THAT SON OF A...! I SWEAR I'M GOING TO KILL THAT BASTARD ONE DAY!" Sanji snaps back, "SHUT UP AND GIVE THEM THE DAMN BOAT ALREADY!" As the cooks charge him yelling "YOU DON'T HAVE TO YELL... ALRIGHT..." Sanji kicks them away in a flurry of motion lines. Two cooks then run off, one saying, "MAYBE IF 15 OF US COOKS ATTACK HIM WHILE HE'S SLEEPING... THEN WE JUST MIGHT WIN. IF WE'RE GONNA GET'IM, THEN NOW'S OUR BEST CHANCE SINCE HE'S ALL INJURED! BUT HE'S INHERITED THE OWNER'S LEGENDARY KICKS!"

From inside a room someone says "HMI" as Luffy's hat is shown flying through the air outside near the damaged Baratie ship. Luffy suddenly wakes with a shocked face, bandages on his head, yelling "MY HAT!" The view shifts to a cabin where Sanji sits treating his own arm while Luffy sits up on a bed. Sanji says calmly, "OH... IT IS. IT'S RIGHT THERE, ISN'T ITI SO YOU WOKE UP, DID YOU NOWI"

Sanji and Luffy talk by a window. Sanji notes, "THEY'VE LEFT. THANKS TO YOU." Luffy asks, "WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE GUYSI" Sanji replies, "I SEE. DON'T NEED IT. SORRY BUT WE'VE RUN OUT OF MORE BANDAGES." Luffy stares at his straw hat. Sanji reflects, "ALL THOSE THINGS SEEM SO STUPID...! WHEN I LOOK AT HIM," while thinking "CAUTIOUS HESITATION AND WHATNOT... CALCULATING," and mutters "HMI" Later Sanji hands over the small boat packed with supplies, saying, "THANKS AGAIN. IT'S ALRIGHT IF I DON'T RETURN THIS BOAT, RIGHTI" The crowded boat of Krieg pirates rows away shouting "WE'RE SINKING! WE'RE SINKING!" as Luffy waves from the railing yelling "SEE YA." Sanji watches silently with a cigarette as the boat departs.

Sanji glares with a mocking grin, sweat on his face, declaring, "SOME SCARY RESTAURANT THIS IS." Facing him, he taunts, "YOU WEAKLING. IF YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO COME BACK AND RETURN IT, GO AHEAD." In the wide dining hall of the Baratie, the cooks rally with raised fists and weapons as one shouts, "THIS IS 'BARATIE,' THE FIGHTIN' RESTAURANT OF THE SEAS!" Others yell, "GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK HEADS!" and "THAT'S RIGHT!" Below, Sanji looms over a seated Luffy and snaps, "TO YOU, DUMBASS!" Luffy looks up calmly while Sanji continues, "COOL, HE SAID THAT TO YOUI IS WHAT GIN SAID BEFORE LEAVING. 'LET'S MEET AGAIN OUT ON THE GRAND LINE,'"

Sanji sits with Luffy and states firmly, "I AIN'T GONNA BE A PIRATE." Luffy replies, "SO THEN, YOU WANNA..." Sanji adds, "'CAUSE I MADE THAT PROMISE WITH THE OLD MAN!" Luffy stands by the window, hat on, and declares, "AH THAT'S RIGHT! I'M FINALLY DONE WITH BEING AN ERRAND BOY AS OF TODAY! RIGHT. CONG-RATS." Alone on the railing, Sanji looks out and says, "I'M GONNA STAY HERE AND BE A COOK. UNTIL THE DAY THAT DAMN GEEZER ACKNOWLEDGES MY COOKING..." He then grabs his own arm as it trembles, shouting, "BUT YOUR HAND HASN'T GIVEN UP!" while Luffy watches with wide eyes. Sanji finishes, "FINE, I'LL GIVE UP THEN."

On the upper deck railing Luffy and Sanji talk. Luffy notes, "THE COOKS HERE ARE COMPLETELY UNDEPENDABLE." Sanji answers, "I CAN'T AFFORD TO LEAVE EVEN MORE. AFTER SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENING," then adds, "BUT I DO WANT TO GO OUT TO GRAND LINE ONE OF THESE DAYS." Luffy jumps up excitedly, "THEN LET'S GO RIGHT NOW!" Sanji holds him back, replying, "NOT JUST YET THOUGH." Close-up, Sanji leans in with a wide grin and cigarette, asking, "DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ALL BLUEI" Luffy reacts with shock, "WHATI YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE OCEAN OF MIRACLESI WELL YOU SEE, IN ALL BLUE..." Sanji cuts in, "NO. HEY..."

Sanji smokes and gestures while talking to Zeff, who sits with arms crossed and a stern face. Zeff mutters "......" as a small figure is hurled off the upper deck in the background. In quick cuts, Luffy is shown being thrown, arms flailing, while Sanji watches with a surprised expression. Zeff's face fills the final panel as he glares and says, "TALKING WITH SUCH A STUPIDLY WIDE GRIN ON YOUR FACE... IDIOT."

Inside the Baratie's second-floor employee dining hall, the cooks gather noisily around the tables. One chef calls out, "HEY, WHO'S THE ONE IN CHARGE OF COOKING TODAYI" as another group bursts in shouting, "TIME FOR SOME GRUB, YOU BASTARDS!" with loud clattering SFX. The hellish duo of Patty and Carne snap back, "JUST SHUT YOUR TRAPS AND EAT, YOU BOILED-BRAIN IDIOTS!" Another voice adds, "OH, THE HELLISH DUOI GUESS IT'S NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO THEN." Patty and Carne proudly declare in unison, "ME!" "AND," "THAT'D BE ME!" Meanwhile, Luffy and Sanji arrive at the entrance. Luffy asks, "WHERE'S THE FOODI" while Sanji wonders, "HMI HEY... WHERE'S OUR SEATSI"

Luffy reacts in shock, "NO CHAIRS!I THIS IS A RESTAURANT, HOW'S THAT FREAKIN' POSSIBLE!I" The chefs laugh and reply, "JUST EAT ON THE FLOOR!" "HEH HEH." "THERE AIN'T NO CHAIRS FOR YOU." Sanji angrily confronts the kitchen, demanding, "OF MAKING THIS MORNING'S SOUP!I" Luffy sits and eats while noting, "SOMETHING STRANGE ABOUT THEM..." "THEY'RE ALWAYS STRANGE." A chef shrugs, "FINE, WHATEVER." Tasting the food triggers chaos: one spits, "WHAT IS THIS, PIG FEED!I" Another gags, "HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO PASS THIS CRAP DOWN MY STOMACH!I" Sanji smirks confidently, "PRETTY GOOD, RIGHTI I MADE IT ESPECIALLY G..." while another chef claims, "OH, THAT'D BE ME!"

The complaints escalate as a chef yells, "HA, THIS IS PURE CRAP OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. MAKES ME WANNA PUKE!" Another taunts Sanji, "DOES PROPER HUMAN FOOD NOT SUIT YOU, YOU DAMN RACCOONI" Luffy continues eating with loud chewing SFX. A disgusted chef spits, "SPIT!" "YUCK!" and retorts, "MAYBE IT'S YOUR DAMN TONGUE THAT'S..." Sanji stands firm, "I'M PERFECTLY CONFIDENT ABOUT MY SOUP." The entire kitchen erupts in revolt, spitting out the food with massive impact SFX: "SPIT, SPIT! EWW, TERRIBLE! JUST TERRIBLE!" "NO WAY WE CAN EAT THIS FILTH! JUST THROW IT OUT!"

Sanji's face fills the panel in fury as he roars, "THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE ALL DOING!I" Food and dishes fly everywhere amid violent motion lines. A chef retorts, "IF SOMETHING TASTES BAD, THEN IT'S MY RIGHT TO SAY IT'S BAD." Another adds, "I'M SICK OF YOUR VIOLENT WAYS." They accuse him, "YOU BEING THE ASSISTANT HEAD CHEF WAS ALWAYS JUST A SHAM! IT'S ONLY BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN HERE THE LONGEST!" Luffy, mouth full, calls out, "GEEZER!" "OWNER!" as the confrontation with Zeff reaches its peak in the dining hall.

Inside the Baratie kitchen, Zeff looms over a bowl and roars in disgust, "WE'D GO OUT OF BUSINESS IF WE SERVED THIS TO THE CUSTOMERS!" He sniffs again and bellows, "WHAT'S WITH THIS DISGUSTING SOUPI IS IT SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE SLUDGE OR WHAT!I" A close-up shows Sanji glaring back, muttering, "THE SOUP I MAKE...I" Zeff grabs the younger cook by the collar and demands, "HOW'S THIS ANY DIFFERENT FROM THE SOUP YOU MAKE!I WELL!I SPEAK UP!" Sanji snaps, "DON'T JOKE WITH ME, YOU DAMN GEEZER!" In the next instant Zeff's massive leg swings in a brutal kick that sends Sanji crashing across the floor with a thunderous impact. "DON'T GET COCKY!" the head chef shouts as debris flies.

Zeff towers over the fallen Sanji, declaring, "I'VE COOKED ALL AROUND THE WORLD!" and "IT'S A HUNDRED YEARS TOO EARLY FOR A LIL' EGG-PLANT LIKE YOU TO BE COMPARING MY SOUP WITH YOURS!" Nearby cooks react in shock: "PUNCHED HIM...!I THE OWNER..." One mutters, "BUT HIM PUNCHED HIM INSTEAD...! HE DIDN'T KICK," noting Zeff's unusual choice of attack. Sanji, now standing, calmly tastes a spoonful and announces, "THIS SOUP'S PRETTY GOOD IF YOU ASK ME!" The other chefs watch nervously from the kitchen doorway as tension lingers in the air.

The cooks whisper among themselves: "HEY, KID... BUT IF WE DIDN'T DO THAT, THAT IDIOT WOULD NEVER LISTEN TO US...!" Sanji looks up with a quiet "HMI" while another adds, "EVERYONE HERE KNOWS HOW GOOD SANJI'S COOKING IS." "...YEAH, WE KNOW." Zeff leans in close and says, "IT'S HIS DREAM. TAKE HIM TO GRAND LINE..." then asks Sanji, "TAKING THAT LIL' EGGPLANT WITH YOUI WOULD YOU MIND..." In the dining area customers clamor for more soup: "HEY, GIVE ME ANOTHER HELPING OF THIS SOUP!" "IT WAS REALLY HARD TO PAY ALONG." "JEEZ, THAT WAS MORE TROUBLE THAN IT WAS WORTH, OWNER ZEFF!" Zeff growls from the floor, "YOU BASTARDS... I CAN HEAR YOU..."
