A massive snake head bursts forward with a huge "ドン!!" sound effect, its mouth wide open as it hisses "CHURA RARAA" in speech bubbles on both sides. In the next tier, a bald man with a stern expression asks, "Is this..." while a jungle scene shows warriors and villagers reacting in panic. Speech bubbles shout "Go away! SHOO! SHOO!", "DON'T LET IT BITE YOU!", "IT'S A VIPER!", and "A SNAKE!" with more "CHURA RARAA" sounds. A close-up of the bald man's intense face states, "The grandchild of that snake..." In the lower panel, the bald man continues, "What a surprise. So it must have had a grandchild, too..." while Kalgara stands with a snake coiled around him, and another man in a dark coat says, "Hey, Kalgara..."

The lower panels show close-ups of Kalgara grinning widely and the bald man noting, "I've never seen Kalgara smile like that before." Others comment, "But it seems he's found a match... Kalgara doesn't even get along too well with his fellow villagers," and "They may have been born and raised in different places, but they seem to understand each other the most."

The crowd erupts with "WOOHOO!" and "WHOAAAA! JUST LOOK AT ALL THIS GOLD! A CITY OF RICHES GALORE!" Kalgara laughs heartily and says, "HAHA! YOU'RE A GENEROUS MAN, GREAT WARRIOR KALGARA!" A villager explains, "...But haven't your people been guarding this city for ages!I" and "This is the least we could do... The other villagers have already agreed. We owe a heavy debt to you all. In return for saving our whole tribe from a deadly disease."
Kalgara stands tall with a fierce expression, declaring, "But it's not the city's gold we've guarded...!" and "Yes... We've guarded this city..." He continues, "Is that city fell into ruins over a great battle to protect this stone. The only thing we're certain of. It's something called a 'poneglyph.' Unfortunately, we cannot read its writing. What's thisI...WritingI We've been guarding this very stone!" A close-up reveals an ancient stone tablet covered in dense, unreadable script. Narration and voices explain its importance: "IT IS THE DESCENDANTS' DUTY TO PROTECT WHAT THEIR ANCESTORS HAVE FOUGHT SO DEARLY FOR. WE REVERE OUR ANCESTORS LIKE GODS." Kalgara and the topknotted warrior stand before the tablet as another voice states, "TO PRESERVE THEIR DESIRE TO KEEP THIS STONE SAFE. IT IS OUR DUTY."

On the forested shore, a subordinate reports, "Just 2 more days and we'll be able to finish our inspection of the forest." The admiral stands nearby as the reply comes, "R... Right, sir." Where's the admiralI" Another notes, "The bell... Didn't ring today..." The admiral lies resting with eyes closed, stating, "So they should enjoy their time on land while they can...!" SBS corner page. A fan writes: "D: Hello, Oda Eiichirou-san. Thanks for everything. Recently, I re-read One Piece from volume 1 and there was something that jumped at me. The SBS used to be serious. When did it become this mess of a corner it is nowI Whose fault is itI I've been wondering so much about it that Gaimon won't stop growing (his son is worried too). Help me! P.S. Did you know there's a person inside GachapinI" Oda replies: "O: Wait just a second. Your P.S. is far more pressing than your real question. Gachapin is EXACTLY as he looks. There's no one inside of him so please don't lie. Incidentally, Gachapin's supposed to be a baby dinosaur while Mukku is an abominable snowman. Now, 'baby dinosaur' is fine by me... But 'abominable snowmanI' Oh come on, he's completely red! A red abominable snowman in the white mountainsI Talk about being starved for attention. I LOVE Mukku. I guess Ponkikki (tv show that Gachapin and Mukku are in) is what Japanese kids grow up watching these days. What was the question againI Oh right, the SBS. So why'd it become like thisI Dunno, but it's not my fault for sure." Small drawings of Gachapin and Mukku are shown with the note "(Someone seems a bit off)".
