Cover page for Chapter 719, "Open, Chinjao." The cover story continues as "Caribou's Kehihihihi in the New World - Volume 36 - The captain survived! Gabull has come!!!" The scene shows Gabull arriving dramatically while the crowd reacts with "Wahhhhh!!" and Caribou's face is pushed into the corner as the mistaken-identity cover serial escalates again. This is useful extra material for the ongoing cover story rather than the main Dressrosa colosseum plot.

The fight resumes in the Corrida Colosseum with Chinjao crashing through the arena under the cry, "Smash that legend!!" Luffy, still fighting as Lucy, hurls himself into the old pirate and sends him skidding back through dust and shattered stone. Chinjao answers with a furious "Nuuu!!" as the impact grinds him down, then twists back toward Luffy with enough force to keep the exchange alive. Luffy pants, "Haa..." but refuses to be cowed, shouting, "You think I'm gonna lose to you?" Chinjao grins through the battle and admits, "Aah... Hiyahoho you've got spunk!" The page makes the duel feel less like a normal tournament match and more like two inherited eras colliding in the center of the ring.

The crowd roars for Luffy: "Go, Lucy!" and "Give it your all, Chinjao!!" One spectator calls it "What a wild one-on-one!!" while the commentators admit, "The combatants are already moving too fast for me to see what's going on!!" and "But we sure can feel their iron wills!! What we have here, before our eyes..." The colosseum trembles as the narrator declares that this is "without a doubt the most intense battle to take place here... since our fair Colosseum was established!!" Chinjao faces Luffy across the torn arena and tells him, "You've no hope." He says the new generation are only "over-confident brats," that Whitebeard is gone, and that they will "never surpass the sea that we fought over!!!"

03
Chinjao's contempt sharpens into a lecture about the great names of the previous age. He says Luffy's strength is "still far too lacking to even dream of bearing your fangs at me." Spectators recognize the history behind the old man's anger: "The only one who's put on much of a show at all... is that guy, 'Blackbeard' Teach." Someone echoes, "Blackbeard!?" Chinjao mocks Rayleigh as well, saying, "A man like Rayleigh must have really lost it if his idea of a representative for the new generation is a brat such as yourself!!" He tells Luffy, "Give up on being a pirate!!" Then he turns the insult toward the age itself: the Marines, he says, had the right idea two years ago when they tried to erase the old bloodline, and he asks, "You think you stand a chance against the admirals and the emperors?" and "You think you can surpass Roger? How utterly ridiculous!!!"

Luffy stops listening and launches himself forward with "Gomu Gomu no!!" His body rockets through the air into "Rocket!!!" and his head and shoulder slam into Chinjao hard enough to bend the old man back. The crowd cries out, and the commentator shouts, "Lucy has...!! He's jumped!!" Chinjao does not retreat. He looks up from the arena floor and says, "Just try me. Yes, receive your baptism! And what a jump it is!!!" Suddenly the ring freezes over with a hard cracking sound, and someone gasps, "What the? What's with this ice?" Chinjao's eyes narrow as he gathers all his hatred into a single blow: "My 30 year grudge against Garp... All my resentment... everything I've got, in one attack!!! Prepare yourself, Strawhat!!!"

The ice expands across the arena, and confusion spreads with it. Fighters and spectators ask, "How strange... How'd this ice get like this?" and "Our fires don't melt it and our axes can't shatter it!!" The page turns from the current duel into the secret behind Chinjao's hatred. Someone explains that the pirate treasure lies under the ice, right before their eyes, but this continent is called "the Icy Treasure Bed" and cracking it requires focusing an incredible amount of power into a single point. Chinjao demonstrates the technique from the past, driving his pointed head down as the cry rings out: "Drilling Dragon Auger Spike!!" The command becomes the chapter's title and prayer at once: "Open, Chinjao!" with the impact marked by "Uwaahh!!"
ChinjaoHappou Navy
06
Thirty years earlier, Chinjao stands as the Happou Pirate Navy's 12th leader, "Chinjao the Auger." Around him, his men cheer and obey as he asks, "Did you fellows like that?" and laughs, "Hiya hoho hoho!!" He orders, "Oi!! Take these treasure thieves... tie them up, and send them out to sea!!" His crew answers, "Okay, boss!!" while another cries, "Uwaahh!" Chinjao celebrates the treasure hidden beneath the ice: "Hiyahoho, oh, how happy this makes me!! Within this icy pit lies my life's work!! Everything I've endured in the past and all my hopes for the future!!" He explains that "hundreds of years' worth of treasure" has been amassed by his clan, and that his "auger head" is the only key to unlock it all. "Not another soul can get in!!"
ChinjaoHappou Navy
07
The flashback shows how completely Chinjao trusted his pointed skull. He calls, "Oi, Chinjao is preparation for cracking open your skull..." while Garp answers with his own absurd training: "I put aside the punching bag and trained by reducing eight mountains to dust!" Chinjao boasts, "There's nothing in this world harder than my head!!" and laughs, "Hiyaho!! Well it was all for nothing!!" Garp answers by facing him head-on: "Prepare yourself, Chinjao!" Chinjao charges with "I'll break even that beloved head-splitting fist of yours!! Garp!!!" The two collide directly, fist against skull, with the panel freezing on the exact point of impact. This is the moment Chinjao's future, pride, and treasure are all placed under Garp's punch.

Chinjao's face twists through pain as the old duel reaches its breaking point. He groans, "Nuuu... ahhh!!!" and then "Ohhhhh!!!" before the decisive blow lands. Garp's punch does not merely knock him away; it flattens the drill-like point of Chinjao's head. The impact is shown from above, with Chinjao's body blasted backward and the shape of his skull visibly ruined. His crew watches in horror, mouths open, as the old leader's defining weapon is destroyed in a single exchange. The page has little dialogue because the damage itself tells the story: the "auger" that could pierce the Icy Treasure Bed has been crushed, and with it Chinjao's access to the treasure that carried his clan's history and his own life's purpose.

09
The Happou Navy panics and retreats: "Boss!" "Disperse!!!" and "All ships, retreat!" Ships pull away from the icy coast while the men shout for their leader. Chinjao survives, and his crew cheers, "Boss!! Thank god you're okay!!" but the relief dies when he returns to the Icy Treasure Bed and tries to open it again. He drives himself downward with "Drilling Dragon Auger Spike!!!" and calls, "Open, Chinjao!!!" Yet the flattened head cannot pierce the ice. He lands again and again with "Boss!" and "Ah..." around him, then gasps, "Haa... haa... Open, Chinjao!" The ice remains sealed. The page turns the punch from a defeat in battle into a lifelong curse: Chinjao can stand, command, and breathe, but he can no longer unlock what was his.

Chinjao's desperation becomes pathetic and tragic. His men plead, "Please boss, just stop!! You're killing yourself!" while he keeps striking the ice and panting, "Haa... haa... Open... Chin... jao..." The answer is always the same: "It won't open...!!!" From above, the treasure lies visible beneath the clear frozen sheet, close enough to torment him. He sees it and cries, "I can see it. Right there!!!" but can only scratch uselessly at the surface. His voice breaks around the words, "What do I do... My treasure...!!! My whole life's work!! My great fortune!!!" The flashback ends in rage instead of closure: "This is unforgivable, Garp!!! Even until our grandchildren's generation... I won't forgive you, Garp!!! I curse you!!!"

11
Back in the present, the old hatred explains the shape of Chinjao's life after Garp. He says, "So I abandoned piracy!!! My strength was gone, my fortune lost, and my heart broken...!!!" He falls silent for a moment, then speaks as if showing Garp the revenge he has waited decades to take: "Behold, Garp..." The crowd reacts to the impossible sight in the ring: "What is that!?" and "Am I hallucinating!!? Is that..." A commentator or spectator finishes the thought: "Lucy's arm... seems to have become that of a giant!!!" Luffy's enlarged arm swells over the arena as Chinjao frames the strike as repayment across generations: "I'll take the life of your precious grandson!!!" The page cleanly returns from memory to action, with Chinjao no longer fighting only Lucy but the bloodline of Garp.

Luffy and Chinjao finish their preparations in midair. Chinjao cries, "Atone!!! With just one punch to the head, your grandfather stole away everything I had!!!" Luffy, already bruised by the old man's attacks, snaps back, "What the? Just one? I've taken more of those punches than I can count!!" Chinjao releases the full force of his Hasshoken and warns, "Even the marrow in your bones will be ground down to dust!!" The technique is named: "Hasshoken hidden technique!!" Luffy answers with his own strike: "Gomu Gomu no!!" and "Thor...!!" while Chinjao names his attack "Non-Drilling Dragon!!" Their bodies angle toward each other, both attacks committed, neither man leaving space for retreat or revision.

13
The collision arrives as a double-page explosion of force. Luffy's huge blackened arm descends with "Elephant Gun!!!!" while Chinjao drives upward with "Non-Auger Spike!!!" The left panels hold the old man's glare, Luffy's focused eye, and the exact instant of contact. The main image is the punch landing squarely on Chinjao's skull, Luffy's arm massive and dark with haki, Chinjao's head taking the full vertical impact. The page avoids extra explanation because the image is the explanation: the attack that once lost Chinjao everything is being answered by Garp's grandson with another blow to the same place. The crowd can only react with shock, marked by "!!?" as the inherited grudge is crushed into the center of the arena.
Monkey D. LuffyChinjao
14
The colosseum erupts in a shared scream: "Ehhhhhh!!!" Luffy and Chinjao are thrown apart by the blast, their bodies suspended over the arena as the stone ring cracks and the water below surges. The shockwave tears through the battlefield, and Chinjao's head makes a hard grinding sound, "Crack crack crunch!" A long spike begins to rise where the old point had been flattened. The audience stares in disbelief as the impossible happens: Luffy's blow has not merely defeated Chinjao's attack, it has driven the old drill-head back into shape. The arena is split, water bursts through the broken floor, and the sight leaves spectators with nothing but "!!?" while Chinjao's old legend physically returns in front of them.

15
The crowd continues screaming "Ehhhhhh!!!" as debris and water fly through the colosseum. Luffy hits the water with "Splash!!" and "Tchh!" while Chinjao, now with his pointed head restored, plunges toward the torn arena. The fight has carried both men out of the ring's safe boundaries. Sai and Boo, watching helplessly from the side, cry out, "Gramps!" and "Grandfather!!" Another voice says, "He's... out of bounds!" The final panel shows the arena floor broken open and water churning beneath it with a "Bloop!" The page resolves the formal tournament result before the emotional result: Chinjao has recovered the weapon he lost to Garp, but he has also been knocked beyond the ring by Luffy's attack.

16
The arena settles enough for the result to be announced. The crowd marvels, "What a man!! To defeat such a legend!" and the commentator declares, "The one who brought to heel the fierce battle of C-Block... Gladiator Lucy!!!" Luffy stands in the wrecked ring with his arms raised and answers the victory with "Alright!!!" Below, the tournament bracket marks C-Block's conclusion, and Luffy's supporter celebrates: "Lucy <3" and "For Lucy to have made it this far!" Luffy himself laughs with the disguised face of Lucy still on: "Nissh-ish-ish!!" The page closes the C-Block battle with public triumph, but the surrounding water, broken stone, and fallen Chinjao keep the cost visible.

Elsewhere in the colosseum, Cavendish watches the audience continue cheering for "Lucy." He mutters, "...On and on with this 'Lucy'!!" and "...I hate their cheering." His obsession with killing Luffy has not faded; he tells himself, "Well, come on back now. You won't get away this time, Strawhat...!!" Bartolomeo reacts from nearby with confusion and a dangerous protectiveness. Cavendish says, "I thought I already told ya. I won't let you kill him." Bartolomeo answers, "Get in my way and I'll cut you down as well, Barto-lomeo!!" Cavendish replies, "Hehaha fine then." Chinjao, hearing the name, asks, "Straw-hat...?" and Burgess understands the truth with a huge grin: "Wee-hhah-hahaha! How interesting!!! So that's how it is!!!" A note on the page says, "Burgess has realized!!!"
