At Egghead, Shaka explains the ancient robot and Egghead's link to the past. The crew reacts, "This futuristic city existed?!" and asks, "What are you talking about?!" Shaka says it is just a theory, but in the world of archaeologists there was once a man who risked his life to find out about that kingdom. That man found a machine in a certain place with a manufacture date matching his theory. Robin asks whether that machine was produced during the Void Century, and Shaka asks how much she knows about it.

Robin says all she remembers is that the Ohara incident was painful. Shaka says that 22 years ago, Robin's birthplace Ohara was destroyed with a Buster Call from the Navy, and he believes it was because Ohara knew about that kingdom. He explains that during the Void Century there was a highly advanced civilization, and that the history about the battle between that certain kingdom and the 20 kingdoms was erased. The winners were the 20 kingdoms, which founded the World Government known today. To make sure nobody carried that kingdom's ideology, they erased its existence from history. Bonney, Luffy, and Franky react in shock, and Franky calls it a massive romance story.

The crew panics over hearing forbidden history. Usopp shouts that he did not hear anything, but Shaka says, "Yes, they've been obliterated." When Robin asks if Ohara being erased because of this theory means the Government acknowledged that the theory is the truth, Shaka answers that the researchers in Ohara made a theory from researching many important documents. He says he is similar to Robin: even if he works with the Government, if he talks about it, he will be obliterated too. Robin asks whether he thinks the Government will hear it from a powerful person like him.

Usopp begs Shaka to stop, saying he does not want to hear more and that this is torture. Robin asks how Shaka knows about that kingdom if every book Ohara had gathered around the world was destroyed. Shaka answers, "The will of Ohara still lives." He recalls that the day Ohara was destroyed, the world was in uproar: Scholar Island, famous worldwide for its knowledge, was destroyed in one night, with a lone girl as its survivor. The World Government labeled Ohara as an evil scholar group plotting to take over the world. Shaka says he went to Ohara a few months after the incident, when it had become a burning field, because he had been an old acquaintance of the scholar leader, Professor Clover. Robin realizes, "You are Professor Clover's friend?!"

Shaka describes Professor Clover. Clover was very interested in the Void Century and gathered every book around the world, becoming famous as the number one archaeologist, though the Navy captured and imprisoned him ten times. He eventually gathered every scholar in Ohara, making it a sanctuary for archaeologists. When Shaka went to the burned island, he could not believe the Tree of Knowledge had burned. Then he found a lot of books drowning in the central lake. Robin understands that the scholars, seeing the island on fire from the Buster Call, tried to stop the books from burning and died protecting the remaining fortunes for the future.

Shaka says the clueless soldiers saw the books in the lake but did not realize their value, making it a great victory for Ohara. He remembers crying when he saw it. Robin remembers Saul urging her to escape: "Robin, please! You have to escape from this island!" Olvia telling her, "I still have things to do here," and Clover saying, "Robin... History is an asset for humanity. We shouldn't give up on the future. That you'll be living in!!" She also remembers the scholars yelling, "Protect the books! Bring it out of the library!"

Robin cries as she remembers Saul, who told her, "Yer mom is an honorable woman!!" "Ohara fought da world!!" and "Be proud, Robin!" Usopp shouts at Shaka, "Wait, helmet! You made our Robin cry! I won't forgive you, Vegapunk! Let our feet go, you bastard!" Shaka says Ohara did try to expose the truth just as Robin predicted. He then asks whether Robin knows what happened to the books in the lake. Shaka says that he wanted to bring them to Punk Hazard, but his plea to the higher-ups fell on deaf ears.

Shaka says that months after the Buster Call incident, he encountered a group in the ruins of Ohara in West Blue. Giants were pulling the books up from the lake. Vegapunk was shocked and wondered who they were, why giants were there, and whether they knew the books' value. One giant tells him, "It's been a while! Vegapunk!! I can recognize you by looking at that stand out hair of yours!" Vegapunk recognizes the voice and begins, "You are..."

Vegapunk meets Monkey D. Dragon in the ruins of Ohara. Dragon asks, "Why are you here?!" and says Vegapunk's head became larger than before. Vegapunk says he was Clover's acquaintance and knew him when he was a rough guy who traveled around the world. Vegapunk says labeling Clover as someone who tried to destroy the world is unbelievable information manipulation. The giants are from Elbaf, and Dragon says he checked with them earlier: they are not bandits, they knew the value of those books, and their captain is a strange man with bandages covering his body. Dragon says the giants' captain declared, "I won't let the assets that Ohara left become erased from history." Vegapunk is relieved the World Government did not realize the books' value.

Dragon and Vegapunk argue beside Ohara's ruins. Vegapunk tells Dragon not to be ridiculous, because even with his wisdom and technology, the Liberation Army invited him and he rejected it, asking what Dragon's poor army can make. Dragon says he is tired of hearing it, and Vegapunk says Dragon is still blunt as usual. Dragon says the World Government, especially the Navy, is a massive organization and warns him not to lose his objective. Dragon says the Government beat up powerless researchers with violence in the name of justice just because they had an "unreasonable opinion." He tells Vegapunk, "I will make an army that can fight it!" Vegapunk asks whether Dragon, who despises violence, can do that. Dragon answers, "Just see it, Vegapunk! I will change the world!" That year, Dragon, Emporio Ivankov, and Bartholomew Kuma established the Revolutionary Army that shocked the world.

Back in the present, the Straw Hats react to Shaka's story. Luffy says his father is very passionate, and Robin realizes Dragon was Professor Clover's acquaintance and says she never knew they knew each other. Usopp asks whether the giants went to Elbaf. Franky is shocked and asks why Kuma saved them and why Vegapunk remodeled him. Bonney says, "So that bastard 'Iva' is one of Revolutionary Army's founders..." Shaka explains that because he was very interested in the books of Ohara, he secretly went to Elbaf, where the books had not fallen into the Government's hands. The giants let him read all of the documents, so he says, "I read all about Ohara and the secrets of the world... inside of my head for progressing my research! It's all..."

Robin, crying with relief, asks Shaka, "The name of that giant's captain is Saul, right?" Shaka says right now he is hiding and that no one will disclose his whereabouts. Robin thanks Dr. Vegapunk, and Shaka tells her, "Please don't let Ohara's battle go in vain! I'm an ally for every scholar. That is my nature as a researcher." He says he still cannot release the Straw Hats and asks them to follow him because there is something he wants to show them. Their DOM shoes begin moving by themselves, dragging them through the lab.

In the Egghead fabrication-phase scrapyard, Luffy, Bonney, Jinbe, and Chopper explore the ancient robot. Luffy says, "I see! So it's an automatic type!" while Chopper laments that there is no place to ride it. The group guesses it may need a name or password, shouting "Move, Robot!!" "Move, Robonosuke!!" and "Move, Roboking!!" Jinbe says they are acting like children and that this will not make it move. Suddenly the robot begins exploding, and Luffy shouts, "The robot is exploding!"

The real Dr. Vegapunk appears as an old man with a long tongue and says, "Please help me!!" He apologizes that the space got distorted while he was warping and says, "Damn it! It still failed!" Luffy says he is just like Kin'emon, and Vegapunk asks for help while saying he is drowning. Bonney recognizes him: "Vegapunk!" Vegapunk answers, "I knew you would come here! You are Dragon's son, right? Welcome!" He also tells Bonney, "Also, Bonney, you grew up! I'm very happy you're fine!" Jinbe asks whether he is floating, and Vegapunk says there is a hover function in the DOM shoes and explains to push the side button while pulling down the lever. Luffy tries it and flies too high, while Vegapunk says yes and shows him to push it down.
