Twin Dragons

At Tokage Port, Luffy rides the now-grown Momonosuke in dragon form and urgently shouts, "Come on!! Fly already, Momo!!" Momo stammers that he will once his body unfreezes, and Luffy cannot believe that even as a grown-up dragon he is still scared of heights. Shinobu snaps that she does not care and calls him a wimp, while Momo insists samurai fear nothing even as raising his head in that form feels daunting. Luffy presses him, asking what the point of getting big was if he cannot fly. Momo asks him to stop berating him for a moment, but Luffy says he is in a hurry because if Kaido keeps running wild, everyone is done for. Momo says he realizes that, while Luffy keeps ordering, "Then fly!!" and Momo begs, "Please just wait!!"

The chapter cuts from Momonosuke's panic to Onigashima looming above the Flower Capital and then back to the rooftop, where Yamato continues holding off Kaido. Yamato braces and uses "Kagami-yama!!" while the translator note explains that it refers to a kabuki tale of revenge in the women's quarters of a samurai stronghold and literally means "Mirror Mountain." Kaido watches Yamato prepare the defense, and the rooftop fight resumes in the shadow of the floating island. The page sets up the two halves of the chapter: Luffy trying to make Momo fly upward, and Yamato enduring Kaido long enough for them to arrive.

Kaido breaks into Yamato's defensive ice and asks, "Going on the defensive?" The barrier shatters around Yamato, but Yamato stays in motion, spinning away through the rubble and countering with "Himorogiri!!" The translator note says that himorogi are sacred altars in Shintoism and that the technique literally means "glacial slash." Kaido answers Yamato's defiance with psychological pressure. He says, "The way you defy me... It's like you actually believe you're from Wano..." Yamato reacts in shock, but Kaido keeps pushing, declaring, "But everyone knows you're my son!! You can't escape the truth of your blood!!" He attacks again and insists, "It doesn't matter what you do, the samurai will never consider you one of them!!" Yamato is struck back through the rooftop rubble, the argument and the physical blows landing together. Kaido is not just trying to win the fight; he is trying to strip away Yamato's chosen identity and sever the bond with Wano.

Yamato fires back, "Shut up!! What's that got to do with anything?!" Kaido says Yamato spent an entire life running around the island, crawling through attics and desperately trying to escape, but Yamato yells, "I'm not!!" The page slips into Yamato's memory. Yamato says, "I have... I had friends..." and Kaido answers, "Ah, that's right. There were those samurai... Everyone that shows you compassion ends up dead!" A flashback shows a kind samurai saying, "Here, Oni Princess... Take some food and this blanket..." The present fight is tied directly to the old kindnesses Kaido wants Yamato to view as weakness and tragedy.

The flashback continues with young Yamato asking, "Hey, why was he executed?!" Beast Pirates say, "Apparently, he was secretly feeding the Oni Princess," and ask, "Is that troublemaking runaway still pretending to be Oden?!" Back in the present, Kaido hammers the point home while battering Yamato. He says the samurai's acts of kindness were just lies and that the truth is they were all afraid of Yamato. Kaido claims Yamato could easily use power to impose will on others and shouts, "You're the offspring of an Oni!! Relying on the friendship of humans is beneath you!! That is your lot in life, Yamato!!" Yamato groans under the blow but does not accept his version of the past.

Momonosuke finally flies, but with his eyes closed, and crashes through Onigashima instead of neatly reaching the roof. Luffy shouts encouragement at first: "You're doing it!! All right! Good job, Momo!! Keep going!! You're so fast!! We're gonna catch up in no time!!" Then the direction goes wrong. Luffy yells, "I said left!!" and "Not that way!! We want to get to the roof!!!" Momo admits, "Of course you oaf! As if I could fly with my eyes open!" while Luffy asks whether his eyes are closed. Momo sees Onigashima dead ahead and panics when Luffy says he sees shadowy figures on the roof. The dragon bursts through the skull dome live floor, and fighters scream, "Kaido-san!!" only for others to shout, "That's not him!!" People cry, "What the hell!!? Another dragon?!" "No way?!" "A dragon?!" and "What in the world?!" Law notices and says, "Straw Hat-ya?!"

Momonosuke keeps smashing through the castle. People shout, "Whaah!!" and "What the hell is going on?" as the huge dragon plows through the second floor. Luffy yells, "Knock it off, Momo!! What do you think you're doing?!" Momo, still disoriented, asks, "Where are we?" and crashes onward while others scream. The page plays the rescue flight as slapstick destruction: Luffy is trying to reach Kaido quickly, but Momo's fear turns the shortest route upward into a chaotic tunnel through Onigashima's walls and floors.

The crash course through Onigashima continues. Fighters recognize the disturbance and shout, "Kaido?!" while others ask, "What is that?!" and "What's happening?!" Law recognizes the passenger, saying, "Straw Hat-ya?!" Luffy shouts at Momo, "Cut it out already!! Open your eyes!!" Momo says, "There's something stuck in them!!" and blames the problem on repeatedly smashing through walls. He cries, "Help me, Luffy!!" Luffy answers with blunt advice: "Just grit your teeth and look where you're going!!" The scene preserves the urgency of reaching the roof while making it clear Momo's fear of heights is still steering the dragon more than Luffy is.

Momonosuke bursts through the third floor as Luffy warns, "Watch out, there's another wall!!" Momo only says, "Huh?" before breaking through again. On the third floor, enemies panic: "This is the third floor!" "Kaido-sama's wrecking havoc up here!!" and "No, wait!! It's not him!!" Others realize there are two dragons, asking, "What...?! How can there be two dragons?!" and noting, "This one's a different color!! We have to get to the bottom of this!!" Outside, someone hears the uproar and says, "Sounds like things are getting out of hand down there..." Another voice assumes it must be because of Linlin and grumbles that the castle will need to be rebuilt after this. Momo's accidental entrance spreads confusion through both sides of the raid.

On the rooftop, Yamato pants, "Huff... Huff..." and vows, "I won't let it end like this...!!" Kaido notices something and murmurs, "Hm?" while Yamato launches "Divine Step!!" At the same time, Luffy and Momo are still flying wildly. Momo asks how they are still going and says they need to get to solid ground. Luffy spots their target and shouts, "There's Kaido!! Let's crash-land over there!!" Yamato sees the incoming dragon and cries, "Kaido?!" Luffy prepares his own attack, calling out, "Gear Fourth: Snake-Man! Time to land!! Gomu Gomu No...!!" The page sets Yamato's rooftop counter and Luffy's aerial return on a collision course with Kaido.

Luffy returns to the rooftop riding Momonosuke, and Yamato recognizes him with relief. Yamato shouts, "Luffy!!" and Luffy answers, "Yama-bro!!" Luffy realizes Yamato has been keeping Kaido busy for them and says, "Thanks a bunch, we owe you big time!!" Yamato, overwhelmed, says, "What a relief!!" Kaido barely has time to react before Yamato and Luffy strike together. Luffy attacks with "Jet Culverin!!" while Yamato uses "White Snake Rush!!" The simultaneous blows smash into Kaido, and the page marks the moment where Yamato's desperate stalling finally becomes a coordinated counterattack.

Kaido faces Luffy and the new dragon, demanding, "Straw Hat!! How are you still breathing?! And who is this dragon?!" Yamato realizes the truth and says, "A peach dragon...!! Could it be...?" Luffy answers Kaido's threat with, "It doesn't matter what you do! I'm not gonna die!! I'm the man who'll be king of the pirates!!" Momo struggles to introduce himself, starting, "My name is...!!" before declaring, "Kozuki Momonosuke!! I am the man who will be shogun of Wano!!" Yamato recognizes him, saying, "Momonosuke-kun?!" Kaido laughs, "Worororo!! You're the brat?! How unexpected!!" then snarls, "This world doesn't need another dragon!!" The final caption calls it "Head to head, a clash of dragons!!" The page ends the chapter with "One Piece Ch. 1025 End" and the notice "Break next week!"
