A Girl Called Demon

The two giants stand firm at the massive gates. One declares, UNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU GUYS, WE'RE EXPERTS AT GATE KEEPING...!!! The other adds, WE'D HAVE BEEN USED WITHOUT EVER KNOWING THE TRUTH! FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS...!!! They shout together, WE'LL DEFEND THIS DOOR TO OUR DEATH!!! OUR DUTY'S BEEN GIVEN BY THE KING OF SNIPERS. In a powerful double-page spread, one giant swings his massive shield, yelling TAKE THIS!! "OIMO PRESS"!!! The impact sends Marines flying in all directions amid dust, debris, and impact lines.

The battle rages on. A Marine cries out in pain, OOWA AAAH!! while another yells SHIT...!!! WHY'D THOSE TWO BECOME THE PIRATES' ALLIES!I The giants press the attack. One Marine shouts WHERE DID MOZŪ AND KIWI WENT!!! YEAH!!! as others coordinate: YOU GUYS GO AHEAD TO THE TOWERS ON THE SIDES. I'LL COVER ZAMBAI AND THE OTHERS AT THE FRONT!!! With a mighty roar, the giants charge forward, one bellowing WOOOH!!! and the other LET'S GO!!! Their massive forms dominate the foreground as Marines scatter in panic.

Robin stands alone on the rooftop, sweat on her face and a grim expression as an empty speech bubble lingers beside her. Below, the Straw Hats regroup near the drawbridge controls. A massive CP9 agent with a scarred face and open jacket looms in the foreground, shouting, "YEAH. THE FRANKY FAMILY IS WORKING ON LOWERING IT NOW." Sanji questions, "DRAWBRIDGEI" The agent continues, "YOU RUSHED AHEAD TOO QUICKLY AND WENT TO THE ROOF, SO WE HAD TO GET UP HERE IN ORDER TO REGROUP." Motion lines and impact marks emphasize the tense standoff as the group eyes the bridge mechanism.

Massive towers of Enies Lobby rise against the sky with dramatic sound effects "ゴォォォ..." and distant "わわわわ...". Inside a lattice-windowed room, CP9 agents stand ready. Lucci states, "NOW WE HAVE PERMISSION TO KILL." Kaku adds, "THEY HAVE GOOD LUCK, DON'T THEYI" Kalifa remarks, "THEY CAME HERE BY GOING THROUGH THE AQUA LAGUNA. THAT'S AMAZING, IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT." A frog-like figure notes, "PERFECT. IT'LL BE MUCH EASIER IF WE DON'T HAVE TO HOLD BACK OUR POWER." Debris and motion lines fill the air as the agents prepare for battle.

A giant gate guard roars in panic, "PIRATES HAVE COME!!!" while another figure screams with wild eyes and the sound effect "ギュあぁぁぁ". Robin's close-up shows her serious, sweat-streaked face. A CP9 agent glares, thinking, "THIS WOMAN... HOW MUCH OF A BURDEN IS SHE BEARINGI" Nami calls out, "ROBIN..." The masked agent shouts at Robin, "HEY, YOU!! THAT'S ENOUGH!!!" Robin stands silently amid the escalating confrontation.

Spandam rants desperately, "THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS MY LIFE!! MY PROMOTION!!! IF I LET THEM GO FREELY, WHO WOULD PROTECT ME IF SOMETHING HAPPENS!I" He orders CP9, "LISTEN, GUYS. I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO WIPE 'EM OUT, BUT TAKE THEM DOWN AT THE 'TOWER OF JUSTICE'!!! IT'S NOT LIKE THEY COULD GET UP HERE TO BEGIN WITH!!!" Pointing dramatically from a high vantage, he yells at the pirates below, "YOU TAKO-PIRATES*!!! DO YOU REALIZE THAT NO MATTER HOW BRAVE YOU ARE, NOTHING WOULD EVER CHANGE!!!I" He declares, "MOREOVER, I NOW HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO USE THE GOLDEN DEN DEN MUSHI TO TRIGGER THE 'BUSTER CALL'!!! WE HAVE THE FULL STRENGTH OF AN ASSASSIN GROUP, CP9!! WE HAVE THE HEAVY 'GATES' OF JUSTICE THAT HUMAN POWER CANNOT OPEN!!!" Robin stands facing him as the threat echoes across the tower.

Robin stands with tears in her eyes as a voice declares, "IT'S THE POWER THAT OBLITERATED YOUR HOMETOWN, NICO ROBIN!!! THE WORD 'OHARA'... DISAPPEARED FROM THE FOLLOWING YEAR'S MAP, DIDN'T IT...I" A flashback shows the Buster Call obliterating Ohara twenty years ago. Close-up, Robin gasps, "THE BUSTER CALL...!!!" Luffy stares grimly with no place to go. Franky rages, "SHITTY MASK, I WANNA KICK HIM DOWN INTO THE WATERFALL RIGHT NOW!!! ROBIN'S HOMETOWN!!I" while Sanji and others watch. Robin suddenly screams in terror, "DON'T DO THAT!!! STOP IT!!!" as the massive Enies Lobby tower looms below. Someone reacts, "EHI HM...!I WHAT!I DOES THAT MEAN I SHOULD PRESS THIS 'BUSTER CALL'S' TRIGGERI OOOO, I LIKE THAT RESPONSE. IT'S VERY THRILLING."

Luffy's face twists in fury as he shouts, "WHAT'LL HAPPEN IF YOU PRESS IT!!!I DO YOU EVEN KNOW" while Robin cries out desperately, "STOP IT, SAUL!!!" Explosions and impact lines erupt around them. Franky glares silently. Sanji turns with concern, saying "ROBIN." Franky then yells, "OF COURSE, I KNOW IT VERY WELL...!!!" Sanji replies softly, "ROBIN-CHAN..." Robin stands with tears streaming down her face as massive waves crash violently against the shore with the sound effect "ゴォォォォ".

Spandam laughs maniacally, "WAHA-HAHAHAHA HA!!!" while holding the golden Den Den Mushi and taunting, "BY JUST A PUSH OF THE BUTTON ON THIS GOLDEN DEN DEN MUSHI...!!! THE CHANCES OF YOU PIRATES GETTING OFF THIS ISLAND WILL BECOME ZERO..." Robin stares in shock, "IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE!!!" Luffy lunges forward yelling "STOP IT!!!" as Franky and others stand in the background. Robin confronts Spandam directly, "DISAPPEARED FROM THE MAP, DIDN'T YOU...!I YOU SAID OHARA" while he sneers back, "DON'T GET CHEEKY WITH ME NOW...!!!"

Luffy and Robin look toward the distant Enies Lobby tower as a voice asks, "CAN YOU SEE ANY HUMANS ON THAT MAPI" A massive wide shot reveals the entire island fortress with the narration, "BECAUSE YOU LOOK AT THE WORLD LIKE THAT...!!! YOU COULD ONLY BE SO CRUEL" Aokiji's silhouette appears in the sky. Robin kneels on the ground as someone warns, "YOU CAN'T USE THAT. NOT THAT." Franky shouts angrily, "THE BUSTER CALL IS A MERCILESS POWER THAT MAKES YOU LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR PURPOSE...!!!"

Twenty years ago in the West Blue, the island of Ohara stands beneath a massive tree housing the Tree of Knowledge. A group of children spots a small girl reading alone beneath it. "EH HEE HEE... THERE SHE IS!" one shouts. "HEY, THIS WAY!" another calls. The children rush forward with sticks and rocks. "OOWAAH, A MONSTER!!!" they yell. "LET'S DO IT!!" "START ATTACKING-ING!" "LOOK, OVER THERE!" "WE FOUND A MONSTER!" Young Nico Robin, clutching her book, is struck and cries out "OW!" as the assault begins.

The terrified children flee, screaming "EEEEN, SHE'S CREEPY!!!" and "WAAAH, THE MONSTER ATTACKED US!!" Young Nico Robin stands alone with a cold expression, one hand raised. "FUH..." A furious adult confronts her. "HEY, YOU. YOU'RE SUCH A CREEPY GIRL!! DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR MY KIDS. MY KIDS TOLD ME THEY WERE BEATEN UP FOR NO REASON..." A caption identifies the girl: "Nico Robin, Age 8". Robin replies quietly, "WELL, SAY SOMETHING."

In happier memories, young Robin walks hand-in-hand with her parents through Ohara's streets, smiling brightly. "WELL, WHAT DO YOU THINKI" "WHAT'S FOR DINNER TONIGHTI" Later, alone and sad, she watches other families. A child points and shouts, "AH... MAMA, SHE'S THE ONE, THE MONSTER GIRL!" The mother hisses, "DON'T POINT AT HER...!!" Robin walks away as a small object drops with a "コッン..." sound.

Robin returns home to an empty house. "I'M HOME." "I'M SORRY FOR COMING BACK SO LATE." She calls out, "ROJI OBA-SANI" A note on the table reads: "To Robin, It's our daughter's birthday today, so we've decided to have a private dinner, with no outsiders." Further instructions state: "When you're done with your dinner, Don't use too much jam though. We have some bread, so eat that for your dinner." Robin stands alone in the kitchen, reading the note with a blank expression.

Young Robin sits alone at the table, chewing quietly with puffed cheeks. "もぐもぐ" sound effects accompany her eating. Two framed notes hang on the wall: "Don't forget to go upstairs before it gets too late. Roji" and "finish cleaning, wash the dishes, and bring in the laundry before we come home." In the next scene Robin scrubs the floor on hands and knees, sweat drops visible, with "ゴシゴシゴシ" and speech bubbles reading "SCRUB SCRUB". Silhouettes show her walking hand-in-hand with two adults. She stands on a stool washing dishes as "シャァ シャァ" and "ジャバ ジャバ" effects play. Later she walks alone through the town square past the arched gate, a large empty thought bubble above her. She reaches up to take down laundry with "パタパタ..." effects, then sits on the floor hugging her knees tightly as "...!!" and motion lines emphasize her isolation.

A massive full-page view reveals the enormous Tree of Omniscience rising above Ohara, its trunk covered in countless windows and doors. A caption box reads "Tree of Omniscience. Ohara Library and Archaeology Research Center." A small figure labeled "PATPAT..." walks along the stone path toward the tree. At the entrance Robin knocks and calls out "DOCTOR CLOVER!! I'VE COME TO RETURN..." A giant silhouette answers from inside. Inside the library scholars react with excitement: "HELLOI", "SHE'S COMING TO RETURN THE BOOKS! EVERYONE, GET READY!!", and "OH! HERE COMES ROBIN."

The scholars of Ohara throw an exuberant celebration. A huge banner and confetti fill the air as they cheer "CONGRATULATIONS, ROBIN!!" and "CONGRATULATIONS, ROBIN-CHAN!!" A sign on the table reads "Archaeologists of Ohara". One scholar shouts "YOU INDEED DO POSSESS HEREDITARY GENIUS!!" while another exclaims "YOU CAN CLAIM THAT YOU'RE AN ARCHAEOLOGIST FROM THIS DAY FORWARD!!!" and "THE ARCHAEOLOGIST EXAM YOU TOOK THE OTHER DAY!! YOU ACED IT!!!" A close-up shows an ecstatic bearded scholar yelling about the cake they prepared. Robin stands in the center holding books, her expression shifting to surprise with "...I" as petals fall around her.
