Fujitora's Outlook

The Corrida Colosseum reaches its climax. The crowd roars for Diamante-sama, excited that the colosseum's hero and minister will enter the tournament. At the same time, medics rush through the corridors, carrying the injured from the ruined D-block and shouting for the medical room. The final is being prepared while the aftermath of Hakuba's attack is still being dragged away on stretchers.

Rebecca notices Lucy and calls out to him, not realizing that this Lucy is now Sabo in disguise. Sabo answers that he is also in the finals, and Rebecca is confused by his casual tone. He tells her that things may get messy, but that it is all just on the surface, because this country reminds him of the place where he grew up. He also says he is fairly aware of her background, which makes Rebecca wonder who this person is and why he is speaking to her so familiarly. Sabo's words are calm, but they reveal that he sees Dressrosa not as a tournament stage, but as another kingdom built on rotten foundations.

At the King's Plateau, Violet explains the route into the palace. She has entry permits for the group, and the lift that rises from the plateau can take them to the Royal Palace, but if they are discovered, the lift will be stopped and the mission will be over. At the lift to the entry of the palace, the disguised group draws closer while Violet warns that they must avoid exposure. In the middle of this tension, the disguises create confusion: Sanji, hidden in animal-like cover, recognizes Violet and gushes over his beloved Violet-chan, while Luffy, Zoro, and Kin'emon move with her toward the palace path.

The group questions Violet's loyalty after remembering that Sanji went to save their ship because she had wounded him. They also recall that she claimed to work for Mingo. Sanji insists she was only pretending to be Doflamingo's subordinate, and Violet confirms it by reminding them of her ability: she has been watching what the Straw Hats, and the one-legged Soldier-san, have been doing all along. She says she has seen how Soldier-san, in place of her deceased older sister, raised Rebecca, and how he started fighting beside them. Luffy finally understands who Violet is and blurts out that she is a princess. Someone reasons that if Rebecca is the king's granddaughter, then Violet must be Rebecca's mother, but Violet corrects them: Rebecca is her niece, her sister's daughter. She leads the group to a hidden gate and tells them to head in. The passage has been passed down through generations of the Riku line, an emergency passageway that even Doflamingo does not know about. Inside is a long vertical shaft with stairs and a basket for lifting supplies. Violet explains that they can reach the palace by climbing those stairs, turning the old royal secret into the Straw Hats' route forward.

The group comes up with a crude but effective way to climb the secret shaft. Violet tells Luffy to take a large rock and bring it all the way to the top. Kin'emon and the others realize that if Luffy throws the rock and grabs the chain, the counterweight mechanism can pull them upward as the rock falls. Luffy immediately likes the wild idea, shouting that he has it and that he will be right back. As he launches himself into the plan, Violet urges him to hurry. Fujitora states his principle plainly. The military should always fight so as to minimize damage to the populace, and if Straw Hat's goal is to take Doflamingo's life, then Luffy will not hesitate to cause massive destruction. Stopping that, Fujitora says, is his justice. Doflamingo presses him about what he wants, and Fujitora admits that he may be a recent recruit through the world conscription, but given his position as admiral, there is something he wants to accomplish. He turns the conversation from local tactics to a much larger target: the royal Shichibukai system itself.

Fujitora declares that what he wants is the complete abolition of the institution of Royal Shichibukai. The statement lands like a threat in the Hall of Suits. Doflamingo answers that if the attempt against him had succeeded, this country would have become as vile as another kingdom where pirates attacked the royal throne. Law asks what happens to the balance between the three powers, and Doflamingo says they will not know until they smash it. Fujitora warns Doflamingo that as his sins continue to amass, the price on his head increases. The admiral's outlook is now clear: he is not here to preserve the system as it is.

Doflamingo laughs that Fujitora sounds like he is saying, "If I'm to eliminate you, now's the time," but Fujitora answers that there is no need to be hasty and that they can remain friendly for now. Doflamingo says he is protecting his country, after all. Fujitora replies that from now on, no matter how roughly this land is laid bare, he is still blind and will not see it, so he fears not. Then he adds the wider warning: Reverie is this year, and like it or not, the world will shift. His blindness becomes a political weapon; he refuses to pretend he can see nothing wrong with the structure of the world.

The focus returns to the Corrida Colosseum as the final match is announced. The announcer calls it Corrida Colosseum's fighting tournament final match, and the entire country turns its attention to the newly prepared ring where the treasure prize will be decided. Rebecca reaches the arena in time, breathing hard but present. The announcer says the struggle for the prize will go down in the new ring and that all that remains is for the five fighters to make their appearance. The tournament has narrowed from spectacle to a single decisive stage, while the rest of Dressrosa moves toward open conflict at the palace and toy house.

The first finalist appears: Bartolomeo. He laughs that this is going to be fun and tells his barrier, Bari-Colosseo, that it is time to go, while someone asks where he came up with that. The announcer introduces him as Bartolomeo, and then the arena explodes for the next entrant. In place of Luffy, the man now carrying the name Lucy steps into the ring. The announcer calls him the tournament's soldier of fortune and says he is their very own Lucy. Sabo raises his fist beneath the cloak and thinks of Ace, saying he hopes Ace is watching. With that, the chapter ends as Sabo enters the final under Luffy's borrowed name.
