Last Waltz

Ah, your highness was here as wellI”

Feet of several people walk along a corridor. Outside a grand domed palace, a crowd in traditional robes gathers. Vivi, now in an ornate white dress, complains “Nghh… Isn’t this a little too tight, TerracottaI” Terracotta answers “No, this is just right for a princess’ proper attire.” Vivi reflects, “Your ‘Coming of Age’ ceremony had been delayed for 2 years… Normally, this would’ve been done when you turned 14 years of age.” In the plaza she notes “Even though we’ve told them your speech is at 10, The square is already packed with people. They’re all an impatient bunch…” while adjusting her dress as birds fly overhead.

In a grand room, Nefertari Vivi sits before a mirror as attendants prepare her. A woman with curly hair reassures her, "No worries. It's fine even if you don't say a word." Vivi replies anxiously, "But... I don't know if I can even say anything that-" Another attendant in a black dress and hat adjusts her hair. A close-up shows Vivi's profile as she reflects, "On wanting to carry out this ceremony now of all times." The attendant advises, "Just keep in mind of his highness' feelings." The black-dressed woman explains the Coming of Age ceremony, noting it celebrates entry into adulthood and that Vivi only needs to go out and show everyone how much she's grown. She adds that with den den mushis and loudspeakers, the speech will be broadcast to every citizen of Alabasta. Vivi affirms, "Yes, yes... He's arranged it." In a separate scene, a stern man with a scar states, "...There's nothing we can do about it any more." Igaram appears concerned, asking about reports of a battle at the port.

On the sea, Monkey D. Luffy shouts furiously from the Going Merry, "FIRE SOME CANNON-BALLS, DAMMIT!" Nearby ships exchange fire with loud SFX "ドォン..." and "グゴォー...ン" as voices yell "FIRE! OPEN FIRE!" The Straw Hats' ship takes heavy damage from iron spears. Luffy declares, "IF WE CONTINUE TAKING THESE IRON SPEARS TO OUR HULL, THEN IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL WE SINK!" From the ship's figurehead, a crew member yells, "THEN I COULD AT LEAST BOUNCE'EM BACK!" Another voice cries in panic, "THIS IS NOOOO JOOOOKE!"

The battle intensifies as Luffy yells "ORAAAAA!" and "DAMMIT!" while dodging. Sanji grunts "...HMPH!" and Nami asks, "CAN'T WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THISI" A barrage of spears rains down with impact SFX. The crew struggles as one shouts, "WE CAN JUST BARELY HOLD OFF ONE BARRAGE FROM ONE SIDE!" Usopp panics, "HEY! I CAN'T SEAL OFF ANY MORE HOLES!" Nami warns, "8 SHIPS IS JUST TOO MANY TO HANDLE!" Luffy calls out, "DO SOMETHING, GUYS!" The Going Merry takes more hits amid explosions and debris.

The enemy fleet maintains formation. A voice notes they won't break it. From a high platform, a marine with heart-shaped glasses and a "MARINE" hat laughs, "HAHA! TAKE THAT, DUMB-ASSES!" while declaring, "It ain't a formation you little pirates can break out of!" He boasts about the Black Cage Corps' Black Spear Formation. The marine continues, "I'll prove to you today that I'm no weirdo! Now look closely at this ring!" Another marine says, "This time, I'll send that violent cook and the rest of his crew to the bottom of the sea!" Luffy reacts in shock, "Ahh! It's that hypnotist! Aren't you a pirate!I" as the marine asks, "Who's that guy on the left again...I"

From the deck of a ship, a figure in a straw hat watches as Marine vessels are struck by powerful attacks. Explosions rock the ships with loud SFX "バキッ!!" and "ドゴォン!!" as crew members cry out "AGH!" and "BRO!". Usopp stands on the deck, declaring, "YOU'RE AMAZING, LONG-NOSE! LOOK, THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF THEIR FORMATION COLLAPSED! WE'LL BUST OUTTA HERE BY CHARGING THROUGH THERE!". A voice replies, "Y-yes! It all went according to my calculations! That's what happens when you go up against me!". Luffy reacts with "Whoa..." as Usopp is praised: "THAT WAS YOU, USOPP!I YOU'RE AMAZING!". Below deck, Mr. 2 Bon Kurei panics, "This is reaaaaal bad! Let's get outta here at once! Yes, sir, Mr. 2 Bon Kurei!". Someone identifies the threat: "'Black Cage Hina!' She's the Marine HQ captain who patrols this area!". Luffy stares in shock as the warning spreads: "MR. BON KUREI, WE'VE GOT TROUBLE! WHAT!I IT'S THE BLACK CAGE!".

Three Marine ships advance in formation under the name "HINA". A voice warns, "But don't get cocky now. Underestimate them and they'll be sure to bite you on your behinds.". Another states, "We've weakened them quite a bit... There is no ship that our 'Black Spear Formation' cannot sink.". Hina stands on deck with arms crossed, cigarette in mouth, replying coolly, "You'll only drag Hina down... Don't bother Hina.". A subordinate answers, "Yes, ma'am!". She continues, "Once we get to their broadside, the rest of you are to stand back.". On the allied ship, Luffy shouts, "Go if you want, but we're staying.". Usopp and the crew discuss, "Continue to sail like this and we'll be done in for sure! If we aim for that opening to the South, we can get outta here with minimal casualties! What're you all doing!I We've gotta escaaaaaaape!".

The crew argues urgently. Someone yells, "This is ridiculous! We've got no time to change directions.". Nami insists, "To be at the Eastern port at noon... We have a promise.". Mr. 2 cries out, "Mr. Bon Kurei! Please hurry onboard! Let's escape by ourselves! You're WHAAAT!I". Luffy leans back with a wide grin, declaring loudly, "WE'RE GOING, TO PICK UP A FRIEND.". A shocked crew member sweats heavily, realizing, "THEY'RE DOING IT... FOR THE SAKE OF A FRIEND!I".

A massive crowd fills the square before a grand palace, cheering with SFX "わー わー" and "がやがや". Inside a quiet room, a tall figure in a cloak says, "Yes, come in.". Vivi enters as a voice calls, "I'm coming in, Vivi.". The king greets her warmly: "Papa- I mean, sit down.". He looks at a portrait and admits, "Princess Vivi. I mistook you for the former queen for a moment.". Vivi replies softly, "Yes, quite...". The king smiles, "Ohhh! Now the s-...My, what a surprise.".

A young woman with long wavy hair and an ornate headpiece stands gracefully by an open window, her flowing dress catching the light. She rests one hand on the curtain and speaks with quiet resolve. "I have something important to discuss..." A second bubble floats nearby: "Father... Igaram..." A Marine lookout shouts, THE SHEEP-SHIP IS HEADING EAST! MS. HINA! Below, crew members react in shock. In close-up panels, Hina glares with a cigarette in her mouth while Mr. 2, still disguised, declares We're masters of disguise... You fell for my trap... A large vertical sign reads おかま道. Someone identifies THE FRIENDS OF STRAW HAT! as the trap springs. The sequence ends with dramatic impact panels and the note *Okama way.

A full-page spread displays Mr. 2 Bon Kurei's poetic declaration: Stray from the path of men, Or stray from the path of women. But the path of humans, we cannot stray from. If we are to fall, then may we scatter across the true sky. Okama Way. -Mr. 2 Bon Kurei. The massive title Mr. 2 Bon Kurei and huge SFX どどーん and ドン!! frame his dramatic pose. In the following panels, Hina faces a fierce opponent who shouts COME AT ME, IF YOU DARE. as she sweats under pressure. Luffy and the crew react in horror aboard their ship. WE... BON-CHAN! cries one voice. Explosions rock the vessel as debris flies.
