Bakura Town

The scene opens in Wano Country, Kuri, Bakura Town, where the Great Sumo Wrestler Tournament fills the streets with a festive atmosphere. Urashima, still furious after O-Kiku rejected him, mutters, "Dammit...!!" He eats while insisting, "I retreated earlier because of the weird aura that ronin had, but... I absolutely want to make O-Kiku my wife, no matter what it takes." One follower flatters him by saying that with his social standing, fame, and safe food, there is no way O-Kiku can reject him. Another points out that she is from the Town of Leftovers, where low-class individuals are not allowed to enter Orochi's territory, and suggests he should simply take her by force and burn her house down.

Mouseman, a Mouse Smile user among the Gifters, encourages Urashima by praising the social hierarchy of Wano. He tells him, "You have samurai blood in your veins!! This country has a clear social hierarchy, you know!!" and says a national superstar athlete like Urashima should not have to show restraint when dealing with lower-class people. Urashima agrees and says he will do whatever he wants with O-Kiku. When someone complains that Urashima's offering does not suit her tastes, he suddenly notices a nearby animal and says, "I see a raccoon dog over there!!" then declares, "I love raccoon dog meat." He orders it cooked and fed to him, turning casual cruelty into another part of the town's entertainment.

Inside a certain residence in Bakura Town, Gazelleman arrives with Tama after the kidnapping. He wheezes from the run, and someone says, "As expected, you brought her here quickly... Gazelleman... she's the one, right?" Tama tries not to cry despite being exhausted and terrified, declaring, "I... I ain't gonna cry!!" The kidnappers mock him for constantly wheezing, telling him it is annoying and that he needs to work on his endurance. Gazelleman collapses, complaining, "My sides hurt...!!" The absurdity does not soften the danger. Tama is alone in enemy custody, surrounded by Kaido's people, and the men treating her as cargo are already annoyed by the effort it took to bring her there.

The Beast Pirates Headliner Holdem, a Lion Smile user, is revealed seated with the lion face protruding from his stomach. The lion keeps staring up at him, and Holdem snaps, "Stop staring at my face all the time!!" while the lion complains, "I wasn't talking to you!!" Tama is horrified by the sight and cries that a lion is coming out of his stomach. Holdem's body is grotesque and unstable: the man and lion share one body but bicker as if they are separate beings. Tama stands before him crying, while Holdem's subordinates treat the spectacle as normal. The meeting makes clear that she has been taken to one of the dangerous officers controlling Bakura Town.

Holdem's lion face, which the men call his crotch, suddenly attacks him. It snaps with a "Fwsh!!" and bites, making Holdem scream. The subordinates identify the strike as "the lion's bullseye shot!!" and explain that the lion's crotch belongs to the lion, but they both share the same body. The lion growls and refuses to learn, while the men wonder what to do with Tama. Holdem is ridiculous and horrifying at the same time: even his own power hurts him, but that does not make him any less dangerous. Tama watches in silence as the men discuss her fate, trapped in a room where even the officer's body is hostile and unpredictable.

Holdem turns his attention back to Tama. He demands, "Answer this, child... How did someone like you... manage to tame that baboon all on your own?" His subordinates saw it, and he concludes, "You must have the power of an actual Devil Fruit!!" Tama answers honestly and timidly, "I'm just really good with animals. That's all!!" Holdem rejects the harmless explanation because her ability would be useful against the enemy, but warns her not to use it in front of others. Then a subordinate suggests testing the rumor that she pulled something off her cheek: "Hey, you! Bring me some pliers!!" Tama hears Luffy's voice in her heart, "Help me, big bro!!!" as the threat becomes physical.

Luffy, Zoro, and O-Kiku burst toward Bakura Town's main gate on Koma-chiyo. O-Kiku tries to stop Luffy from shouting too much, covering his mouth and warning, "You mustn't say things so rashly!!" but Luffy refuses to slow down. They pass the great torii gate and Luffy bellows, "Tamaaaaaaaa!!! We're here to..." The town residents stare, and the guards demand, "Hey!! Who are you people?" O-Kiku says there is no record of them leaving the town, while Luffy asks who kidnapped O-Tama. The guards realize everyone there is working with the kidnappers, but Luffy's expression says he has no intention of quietly gathering information.

Koma-chiyo barrels into town, and O-Kiku notices something strange: people are present, but they do not look like fighters and do not seem willing to tell them anything. Luffy asks whether O-Kiku did something, and she answers, "Haki." Zoro wonders how they are supposed to find Tama, while the townspeople stare at the huge komainu and ask who it belongs to. O-Kiku explains that the people living here have been here their entire lives, but about twenty years ago it was an energetic town at the base of the castle. Then Orochi's subordinates began taking whatever houses they liked for themselves. The present Bakura Town is built on displacement as much as privilege.

O-Kiku continues explaining what Bakura Town has become. Only essential merchants and tradesmen were allowed to remain, and the rest were forced out of town. As she says this is what Bakura Town has become, a body comes flying through the street with a crash and a scream. Luffy looks over with a small "Hm?" and Zoro guesses there must be something going on nearby. Someone says a sumo wrestler just came flying that way, and another wonders whether he could really have been blown this far by another sumo wrestler. The interruption pulls them directly toward the tournament, where Urashima's strength and the town's spectacle are colliding with the search for Tama.

The tournament arena centers on the enormous yokozuna Urashima. The crowd roars over his overwhelming strength, saying no one will be able to topple him and that he is so big and strong. The announcers explain that Urashima has managed to take down nineteen people all on his own, and even if others join the ring, they are all tossed aside. The contest becomes a special competition for the day: whoever can take down Urashima will earn 500 gold. The crowd sees him as the pride of Wano's sumo world, but the same man who wants to force O-Kiku into marriage is being celebrated as a hero in the center of town.

Doctors count the damage from Urashima's matches: ten arms, nineteen legs, fifty-two ribs, four skulls, seven spines, and eighty-eight broken bones in total among four contestants. The crowd calls him "the undefeated monster, yokozuna Urashima," and even his victims are treated as part of the show. Someone places a bet on him, and the announcer calls for the next round: "Ready, set... begin!!" Urashima slaps another opponent away with a casual blow, while the town shouts his name. The page underlines the brutality hidden inside the festival mood. Bakura Town cheers for power even when that power is maiming people in front of them.

Urashima spots O-Kiku and immediately forgets the match. He calls, "O-Kikuuuuuu!!" and demands, "So you followed me here after all! Have you decided to be my bride?!" The crowd erupts with gossip, calling it love at first sight and a huge scandal, saying a woman has already sworn herself to Urashima. O-Kiku stays composed and says, "There's no point in hiding behind me," because Urashima decides everything on his own. She tells him plainly that she will show him how cool she can be if he is interested. Her refusal is no longer hidden in a tea house. It happens in front of Bakura Town, where the yokozuna's status and her dignity collide in public.

Urashima orders his men to escort O-Kiku to him, while they praise her as even more beautiful in person. Luffy cuts through the noise with the real priority: "Hey, more importantly... we're looking for someone!! She's a kid named Tama!! Tell me where we can find the boss of this town!! She should be with him!!" The crowd barely listens, fixated on O-Kiku and Urashima. One man says that cutting down naked men is vulgar, and another yells at Zoro for letting them take his hair. Others call O-Kiku perfect for Urashima and mock the idea as a vexing Cinderella story. The rescue mission is swallowed by spectacle, but Luffy keeps shouting for Tama through the arena chaos.

Urashima lunges, and O-Kiku answers with her blade. In one clean motion, she slices off his topknot. The crowd gasps because the yokozuna's topknot has been cut, while Luffy shouts, "Awwesooommmeeeee!!! Kiku is so cool!!" O-Kiku calmly tells Urashima, "Surely, you jest. The only vulgar thing here is your heart." Urashima rages, calling them lower-class commoners, saying their lives are insignificant and that he decides whether they live or die by his hand. He asks whether that is right and demands O-Kiku become his wife. She refuses his language itself: "I... do not know of anyone whom you refer to as lower class." The chapter ends with O-Kiku's dignity standing against Urashima's status and violence.
