Egghead - The Island of the Future

The Straw Hats are still caught in the massive warm eddy. Someone shouts, "Huh?!" and warns, "There's something scary beneath us!!" Another voice says, "Let's scram before it surfaces!!" A girl pops out of the water: "Who's that?!" "She just popped outta the water!!" She coughs, "Koff!! Pant... pant... Gasp!!" then says, "Koff - I'm saved!" and asks, "Who's there?" The crew realizes the danger is still below: "It's still below us!!" "Wait... where did that monster go?!" The girl tells them to "Look down!!" and the crew answers, "I think that runt's tryin' to say somethin'!!" "She said look down...!!" They note that she seems safe, but Luffy is still flying away: "Just how far is Luffy gonna keep flying?!"

A giant metal shark lunges out of the sea with a huge "SNAP" and attacks the Thousand Sunny. The crew screams, "Ahh!!" and someone asks, "What the hell is this thing?!" Another answers, "A shark?! No, it's too big... and it's made of metal?!" The Sunny is thrown into chaos: "It's going to be a rough landing!!" "Hold on tight!!" Luffy, Chopper, and the rescued girl fall into the water, prompting the alarm, "Not good!! Luffy and the others... fell in the sea!!" Jinbe tells Franky, "Franky, take the helm!! Steer the ship over to us!!" Franky answers, "You got it!!"

Franky activates the Sunny's machinery: "Keel attachment!" with mechanical sounds "clank... shing! click!!" The ship slams into the water while the crew screams, "Ahh!!" Franky follows with "Rabbit... Screw Propeller!!" as the ship tries to maneuver. The attacking machine gives off electronic "beep... beep..." sounds and the sea erupts around the crew and ship.

The metal shark's attack throws the Thousand Sunny and crew into the air and sea. The crew cries, "What was that?!" while others scream "Kyaah!!" and "Aagh!!" over a loud "BOOM!!" The ship begins to overturn: "We're capsizing!!" "Oh crap!!" As the waves swallow the deck, the crew calls out, "Nami-saaan!!" "Robin-chaan!!" and "Agh!!" The page emphasizes the sudden wrecking of the Sunny by the artificial sea beast.

Jinbe dives after Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney. Luffy calls, "Luffy!! Chopper!! Don't worry, I'm here!!" and then tells the group, "Hang on, you three!! We're heading up!" Bonney notices the attack and says, "That noise... it sounded like an explosion!!" The metal shark returns, and Jinbe reacts, "Hm?" He realizes the current is overwhelming them: "Huff!! Oh my!! What a tremendous current!!" The others panic, "Steering a ship in this is next to impossible!!" and "!?"

The metal shark reveals artillery and someone shouts, "A cannon?!" Jinbe warns, "Everyone hold your breath!! We're going to dive!!" and then, "Here we go!!" Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney cough and gasp, "Huuff," "Koff!" as Jinbe takes them underwater. A huge blast goes off with "BOOM!!" and the shark gulps and swishes through the water, but a giant robot labeled VEGAFORCE 12 appears and punches the shark aside with massive impact SFX like "KA-POW!!" and "WHAM!!" Beneath the waves, Jinbe notes, "The waves are too strong!! We can't get back up!!"

The scene shifts to a nearby island, G-14 Naval Base. Navy HQ Captain Tashigi tends to the Punk Hazard children and says, "Be good boys and girls now!!" and "It's medicine time!!" The children complain, "I'm only drinking this... 'cause Tashigi-san said so!!" "It's yucky!!" "Blergh!!" while another says, "We've all shrunk quite a lot, haven't we?!" Mocha is recognized: "Absolutely!! I hardly recognize you, Mocha!!" Someone calls, "Tashigi!!! Have you got a sec?" G-14 Commander Vice Admiral Doll says, "It's that pest, Helmeppo. Can't you do something about him?" Tashigi replies, "You know I can't. His best friend's life is on the line, and I'm worried about Captain Koby too, he's our junior as a Marine after all..."

At G-14, Navy HQ Lt. Commander Helmeppo and Navy HQ Commander Hibari of SWORD beg Navy HQ Rear Admiral Prince Grus for help. Helmeppo pleads, "Please, you have to listen, I'm begging you!! We're all on the same side, right?!" Hibari adds, "I second this, y'hear?! I owe Koby-senpai!!" Helmeppo demands, "You hafta come with us to Pirate Island, Prince!!" and "Please, Prince, we need you!!" Grus refuses: "Pirate Island? That's Emperor Blackbeard's home turf!!" "We'll be swarmed by pirates if we stick our noses into that beehive!" A Marine says, "That's why it's called Hachinosu!" Helmeppo argues that Egghead is close and asks, "Why can't we deploy a Seraphim?" Grus snaps, "Are you crazy?! Both of you calm down!! At the moment, we can't get a hold of Drake either!! We're in no position to act right now! Is that clear?!"

On Egghead, Luffy's group reaches shore. Bonney scolds Luffy: "I'm part of the Worst Generation, just like you!! How can you not know who I am?!" Luffy remembers, "We were both on Sabaody two years ago!!" and then says, "Oh!! You're part of it too?!" Bonney replies, "Don't forget, we're enemies!! And the name's Bonney!!" Luffy still thanks her: "Still... thanks for saving my bacon back there." Jinbe says, "Don't sweat it, Bogey!" Bonney shivers, "Ahh!! It's so cold!!" Chopper asks Luffy, "Are you seriously an emperor?" The group discusses Luffy's new wanted poster: "What's the deal with your wanted poster anyway?" "I thought your hair was white now..." Luffy explains, "Oh, that's just how I look when I'm totally free!!" and says, "They'll figure it out!! Shishishi!!" Bonney cannot believe he has "the Knight of the Sea" with him too.

Jinbe asks Bonney, "Since we're on the subject, what happened to your ship and crew?" Bonney answers, "I came alone. That metal monster back there gobbled up my ship. That reminds me, I'm starving!" Luffy and Chopper immediately want food too: "Let's go find a restaurant!!" "I'm hungry too!!" Chopper asks, "Ooh, do you have any money on you, Luffy?!" Bonney shuts them down: "You boneheads don't have a clue, do you! You're not gonna find any food joints here!! This is a government island!! Do I have to spell everything out?!" She reveals, "We're on Egghead!! The island that's said to be 500 years in the future. Dr. Vegapunk's research lab is based here!" Luffy recognizes the name: "Vegapunk?! I know that name!!" Bonney says, "Vegapunk's the reason I'm here. We've got business."

The giant robot that attacked the metal shark rises from the sea with Vegaforce 12 markings while the rescued Straw Hats and ship are nearby. The crew reacts with shock: "!!!" "A g-gia-" and "Giant Robot!!" An old-timer speech note appears. Inside the machine, someone says, "Somebody's coming out!!" The pilot studies the failure and mutters, "Perhaps overriding primal desires is simply impossible." Another readout-like line says, "It's another failure. Hmm, I wonder why though..." followed by, "Gah... This won't do at all..." The page reveals that the robot's intervention was experimental rather than a straightforward rescue.

The pilot emerges and complains about the Mecha-Shark. She says, "I ordered the Mecha-Shark... to scout, report, and fire. But if it keeps trying to eat ships, there won't be anything left to salvage. I must have bungled the programming." Usopp thanks her: "Thanks for saving us," but Franky asks, "...Whoever you are!!" She answers with irritation, "How utterly vexing." When the crew says, "Forgive me, but did you just say I saved you? Oh, you naive pirates!" she adds, "I work for the government!! Despite my mediocrity, they like to call me their scientific genius." The final reveal continues, "You can call me... Dr. Vegapunk!!" as the Straw Hats shout, "What?!"
