Vivi's Adventure

A flashback begins with Igaram and Vivi having a serious conversation indoors. Igaram, looking grim and sweating slightly, explains, "Yes, it's an underground organization whose boss' identity is unknown to even its own members..." An off-screen voice asks, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THEIR LEADER IS?" Vivi, looking deeply concerned, realizes the gravity of the situation, saying, "Is this country's true enemy...!" and "So this organization..." She presses Igaram for more information, asking, "Their tail at least, right...? But you've caught," Igaram interrupts, explaining the difficulty of their position: "Moreover, I fear it's no longer possible to obtain any further information from the outside. In any case, since even its own members do not know," He sits down heavily in a chair, looking defeated, and concludes, "Yes... Such actions would only place this country further at risk..."

The flashback continues. Igaram suddenly realizes he has said too much. He panics, sweating and grimacing, thinking, "CRAP! I SPOKE TOO MUCH!" Vivi gives him a knowing, determined smile and says, "Huh?" She then steps forward and grabs Igaram by the mouth and chin, leaning in close. "Igaram... Can you tell what I'm thinking...?" Igaram struggles against her grip, groaning, "NGHH!" Vivi shouts passionately, "I CAN'T JUST STAND BY AND DO NOTHING!" Igaram yells back, equally passionate, "YES, THAT'S ALL THE MORE REASON THEN! NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! THIS IS NO GAME, YOU KNOW!" He shakes his head rapidly in denial as Vivi calls his name, "IGARAM!" Igaram stammers, "N-NO, NOT AT ALL! WELL, I MUST RETURN TO WORK NOW!" trying desperately to escape the conversation.

In the present, the massive gates of the palace in Alubarna slowly open. Royal guards stand at attention on either side of a long carpet. A small figure emerges from the palace. The massive crowd gathered outside erupts in cheers, shouting, "Look! It's princess Vivi!" The scene focuses on the figure's feet, wearing heeled shoes, walking forward with a "Zah zah" sound. The scene then cuts abruptly to the Straw Hat Pirates on the Going Merry, engaged in a fierce battle with Marines. Luffy throws a powerful punch, Sanji delivers a flying kick, and Zoro slashes with his swords, sending Marines flying off the deck.

On the Going Merry, Luffy yells fiercely, "GET OUTTA OUR WAY!" as he fights. The Marines are overwhelmed. One Marine cries out, "But ensign! They're too strong! The cannons won't work either!" A Marine Ensign, Makko, yells back angrily, "What're you all doing!? Our enemy's only one ship!" Back in Alubarna, a wide view shows the palace balcony where a figure dressed as Princess Vivi stands before the massive, cheering crowd. The roar of the people is deafening: "Waaaaaaah", "She's grown so big!", "It's the princess!", "It's princess Vivi!" A large clock tower in the city shows the time as the immense crowd continues to roar in celebration.

A close-up shows Vivi's face, smiling peacefully with her eyes closed. A voice from the flashback asks, "IT ALL STARTED ON THAT DAY... THEN LET ME ASK YOU JUST ONE THING, PRINCESS VIVI..." Vivi opens her eyes, looking resolute. "TO NEVER LET YOURSELF DIE?" A silhouette shows Vivi and Igaram talking, with the voice asking, "DO YOU HAVE THE RESOLVE," The scene shifts back to the massive crowd in Alubarna. Through the city's loudspeakers, Vivi's voice rings out to the people: "I went, On a little adventure."

In the crowd at Alubarna, people murmur among themselves. "It's starting 2 hours later than scheduled though. I wonder if something happened?" "The coming of age's ceremony's started!" "Thank god she's fine and well!" "Finally!" "Hey! The princess' speech is starting!" A large transponder snail equipped with speakers broadcasts the speech. In a quiet room, Smoker sits and listens, noting, "The speakers are loud enough to hear her anywhere throughout this whole city." Elsewhere, an old man excitedly calls out, "Vivi's speech has begun! Kouza! Come quick, Kouza!" King Cobra sits in a chair, listening intently, thinking, "I hope it won't cause too big of a fuss... Well..." Vivi's voice continues over the broadcast: "Having left my home country, the sea I then saw before me was vast... It was hard to believe just how many strong islands there were out there. It was a trip in search for despair across the dark gloomy seas..."

Vivi's broadcasted speech continues to echo across the city. "Gently washing away my trifling concerns. Were quiet at times," The citizens of Alubarna listen attentively. A close-up shows the broadcasting transponder snail. "The music of the waves, Laughing to tear apart my timid feelings." A wide shot shows the palace and the vast city. "At other times, they were fierce," Vivi is shown smiling gently as she speaks. "The ship pressed me onwards from behind and said, 'Can't you see that light ahead?'...And in the midst of a dark storm, I came across a single small ship."

Vivi's speech continues: "And then it points a finger out. Never defying the sea, and yet the ship's bow always heading straight ahead... Even through headwinds." A wide shot shows the massive crowd gathered before the palace. In a different location, Crocodile is shown sitting and drinking tea, listening to the broadcast. "The mysterious little ship that never lost its way in the darkness, Crossed over monstrous waves as if dancing." Vivi holds the microphone, her expression earnest. "...History may call this a myth, 'Look. The light is right there.'" The crowd reacts with confusion. "What's she talking about?" "She's talking about the marines that fought a secret battle." Vivi's voice concludes, "And so- But to me, it is the truth."

On the Going Merry, the Straw Hats listen to the broadcast. Sanji, smoking, says, "It means she decided not to come...!" Nami clarifies, "It's broadcasted from the coming of age ceremony at Alubarna." Zoro adds, "That was definitely Vivi's voice." Chopper looks at Luffy and says, "You heard the speech, didn't you?" Luffy leans on the railing, looking downcast. A sign indicates they are at the "Eastern Port of Tamarisque". The Going Merry sails away from the port. A voice says, "Let's go. It's past noon..." Sanji tries to comfort Luffy, "Her case is different from the rest of us when we joined." Nami says gently, "Give it up, Luffy. Turn starboard!" Luffy, still looking down, quietly says, "Let's go!" Suddenly, Zoro yells, "How many ships do they have!?" Usopp panics, "Guys, we've got trouble! The marines are heading this way!" Luffy suddenly snaps his head up, eyes wide with realization, and shouts, "LET'S GET OFF THE SHIP AND LOOK! SHE'LL BE THERE FOR SURE! THERE'S NO WAY SHE WON'T COME!"

Back in Alubarna, the crowd has realized they've been tricked and is furious. They throw objects at the balcony, shouting, "SHOW YOUR FACE, YOU PHONY! OR SHOULD WE RATHER SAY, CAPT. IGARAM!" "HEY, WHAT'S GOING ON!?" A sign reads "Alubarna". On the balcony, Igaram, dressed in Vivi's clothes and wearing a wig, is sweating profusely as he dodges the thrown items. He thinks, "She should be there by now..." The crowd demands, "WHERE'S PRINCESS VIVI GIVING HER SPEECH FROM!?" "WHERE'S THE REAL PRINCESS!?" Meanwhile, the Going Merry sails through the water. A loud voice suddenly calls out from off-screen: "EVERYONE!" Chopper looks up in surprise.

Usopp and Luffy look toward the shore in shock. "CARUE!" "VIVI!?" On the shore, Vivi stands with Carue. She is waving her arm high in the air, smiling brightly. Carue lets out a loud "QUACK!" On the ship, Chopper dances happily, "THE MARINES ARE ALREADY ALMOST HERE!" Nami smiles warmly, "VIVI! <3" Usopp frantically orders, "TURN THE SHIP AROUND! QUICK!" Luffy grins widely, his faith rewarded. "See! She DID come!"

Luffy looks confused, asking, "What...!?" Vivi shouts across the water, her voice carrying over the wind, "To say good-bye! I've come," A close-up shows her face, filled with emotion. She continues loudly, "BUT I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING UNTIL NOW!" In Alubarna, the crowd hears this over the broadcast and wonders, "Who's she talking to?" Vivi shouts, "I... CAN'T COME WITH YOU!" Carue quacks beside her. Vivi says, "Carue, give me the receiver." Tears stream down Vivi's face as she smiles and speaks into the transponder snail receiver, "BUT I CAN'T...! BECAUSE YOU SEE, I'D LOVE TO GO ON ANOTHER ADVENTURE," Luffy listens, stunned. Nearby, a Marine looks through binoculars and is shocked. "Is that... The princess of Alabasta!? It can't be...! She should be at Alubarna for her coming of age ceremony right now!"

Vivi continues shouting to the crew, "THAT'S WHY I CAN'T COME!" Luffy, Nami, Sanji, and Zoro stand on the deck, listening intently. The scene cuts to a wide shot of the palace in Alubarna, where Vivi's voice booms over the speakers: "I LOVE MY COUNTRY TOO MUCH!" On the balcony, Igaram sits down, relieved, while the crowd laughs. "Nice show, captain!" "Hahaha!" "We came to see princess Vivi's face!" "Where's the princess!?" "Get off the stands, Capt. Igaram!" A flashback shows Vivi and Luffy talking. Vivi asks, "WHY?" Luffy replies, "I WANT THE MARK TO BE A CROSS!" Vivi points out, "YOU KNOW, THOSE CROSSES ON PIRATE FLAGS ACTUALLY SYMBOLIZE DEATH." Luffy grins, "'CAUSE WE'RE PIRATES!"

The flashback continues. Zoro looks annoyed, "WHATEVER, JUST DRAW THE DAMN MARK ALREADY. THAT'S NOT THE POINT HERE." Nami smiles, "SURE, I'M FINE WITH A CROSS." Luffy laughs, "RIGHT, VIVI? YOU THINK CROSSES ARE COOL TOO, RIGHT!?" Usopp agrees, "WHO CARES! LET'S GO WITH A CROSS!" Back in the present, Vivi stands on the shore, saying, "I'LL REMAIN HERE NOW..." Another flashback shows Luffy holding up his left arm, displaying a black X drawn on it. "THIS SHOULD DO...!" Vivi looks at it, surprised. In the present, Vivi is crying heavily, tears streaming down her face as she shouts with all her might, "WILL YOU CALL ME YOUR FRIEND ONE MORE TIME!? IF WE MEET AGAIN SOMEDAY..."

The Marines on their ships hear Vivi's shout. "The princess is a friend of the pirates!? It can't be!" "Did you hear that just now!? Does the princess have some connection with the Straw Hat pirates!?" Luffy smiles, ready to shout back. On the shore, Vivi and Carue wait. Nami realizes the danger and says, "If they have proof that she has connections with us, she'll be branded a criminal. The marines are watching her right now." As Luffy opens his mouth to yell, Nami grabs him from behind and Usopp clamps a hand over his mouth. "You can't reply!" "QUIET!" "WE'LL ALWA-" Vivi stands on the shore, crying, waiting for an answer. Sanji, smoking a cigarette, says quietly, "LET'S SAY OUR GOOD-BYES IN SILENCE." The crew stands together, facing away from the shore.

The Straw Hat Pirates—Zoro, Chopper, Usopp, Luffy, Nami, and Sanji—stand in a line on the deck of the Going Merry, their backs turned to the shore. They all have their left arms raised high in the air, revealing the black X marks drawn on their wrists. Luffy, seen from the front, smiles broadly and shouts, "LET'S SET SAIL!" On the shore, Vivi and Carue see the raised arms. A flashback recalls the meaning of the mark: "FROM NOW ON, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, THIS MARK ON OUR LEFT ARM... WILL BE THE MARK OF OUR FRIENDSHIP!" A close-up shows Vivi crying tears of pure joy, a massive smile on her face as she understands their silent message. Text at the bottom reads: "23 'Vivi's Adventure' (End)".
