Vivi's Adventure

In a dimly lit royal chamber, a long-haired woman in a black dress speaks with an older man wearing a dark robe and scroll-like hair ornaments. She says, "Yes, it's an underground organization whose boss' identity is unknown to even its own members..." The man replies, "Yes." She continues, "You don't know who their leader isI" A close-up shows her intense expression: "Is this country's true enemy...! So this organization... Their tail at least, right...I" The man answers, "But you've caught." He adds gravely, "Moreover, I fear it's no longer possible to obtain any further information from the outside. In any case, since even its own members do not know. Such actions would only place this country further at risk..." She responds softly, "Yes..."

The older man suddenly panics, sweat flying as he yells, "CRAP! I SPOKE TOO MUCH!" with large Japanese SFX. The woman smiles faintly and asks, "Igaram... Can you tell what I'm thinking...I" She grabs his face with both hands; he cries out "NGHH!" In a wider view she declares fiercely, "I CAN'T JUST STAND BY AND DO NOTHING!" while Igaram protests, "YES, THAT'S ALL THE MORE REASON THEN! NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! THIS IS NO GAME, YOU KNOW!" She shouts "IGARAM!" as he flees down stairs with motion lines, calling back, "N-NO, NOT AT ALL! WELL, I MUST RETURN TO WORK NOW!"

A grand palace corridor lined with armored guards leads to a distant throne. In the next panels a bearded man grins excitedly while a crowd cheers. A footstep panel shows "It's princess Vivi!" with sound effects "Hッ ッ". The final wide panel erupts into chaos aboard a ship: a straw-hatted man swings a long weapon, sending multiple figures flying through the air amid impact lines and debris as the vessel rocks violently.

Marines on a warship panic as cannon fire erupts around them. One shouts, "GET OUTTA OUR WAY!" Another yells, "But ensign! They're too strong!" A third cries, "What're you all doing!I Our enemy's only one ship!" Below deck, a crewman reports, "The cannons won't work either!" The scene shifts to a grand city square where Princess Vivi stands on a balcony overlooking an enormous cheering crowd. Citizens exclaim, "She's grown so big!" "It's the princess!" and "It's princess Vivi!" A massive roar fills the air: "わああああああああ" as birds fly past a clock tower and the palace domes.

Vivi's face fills the panel with a gentle smile as narration reads, "IT ALL STARTED ON THAT DAY..." A radiant speech bubble declares, "THEN LET ME ASK YOU JUST ONE THING, PRINCESS VIVI..." In flashback, a cloaked figure faces young Vivi and asks, "TO NEVER LET YOURSELF DIEI" and "DO YOU HAVE THE RESOLVE," Vivi replies, "I went, On a little adventure." The view widens to show her standing before a vast sea of citizens filling the plaza in front of the palace.

Spectators react as the ceremony begins two hours late. Voices call out, "It's starting 2 hours later than scheduled though. I wonder if something happenedI" "The coming of age ceremony's started!" "Thank god she's fine and well!" "Finally!" "Hey! The princess' speech is starting!" Inside, a man lounging with a transponder snail notes, "The speakers are loud enough to hear her anywhere throughout this whole city." Another says, "Vivi's speech has begun! Kouza! Come quick, Kouza!" A seated man replies, "I hope it won't cause too big of a fuss..." "Well..." On stage, Vivi continues her story: "Having left my home country, the sea I then saw before me was vast... It was a trip in search for despair across the dark gloomy seas... It was hard to believe just how many strong islands there were out there."

Vivi's narration continues over scenes of her journey: "Gently washing away my trifling concerns. Were quiet at times," while a den den mushi broadcasts and onlookers smile. She recalls, "Plants and animals I had never seen... Sights I'd never imagined in even my dreams. The music of the waves." The crowd laughs as she describes, "Laughing to tear apart my timid feelings. At other times, they were fierce." In a swirling memory of a storm-tossed ship, a voice urges, "Can't you see that light aheadI" Vivi smiles and finishes, "...And in the midst of a dark storm, I came across a single small ship."

A vast crowd gathers before the grand palace as narration continues: "And then it points a finger out. Never defying the sea, and yet the ship's bow always heading straight ahead... Even through headwinds." A man in ornate robes sips from a cup and adds, "The mysterious little ship that never lost its way in the darkness. Crossed over monstrous waves as if dancing." Vivi stands holding a small compass, smiling as she declares, "...History may call this a myth," and points, "Look. The light is right there." The scene shifts to a massive ancient structure carved into cliffs. A voice wonders, "And so-" while onlookers ask, "What's she talking aboutI" and "But to me, it is the truth." Another explains, "She's talking about the marines that fought a secret battle."

On the Going Merry near the Eastern Port of Tamarisque, the crew reacts to the broadcast. Sanji says, "It means she decided not to come...!" Usopp adds, "It's broadcasted from the coming of age ceremony at Alubarna." Chopper exclaims, "That was definitely Vivi's voice." Luffy growls, "You heard the speech, didn't youI" while insisting, "No, it only sounded like her voice!" The ship sails onward as Luffy says, "Let's go." and notes, "It's past noon..." Below deck the crew argues: "Her case is different from the rest of us when we joined." "Give it up, Luffy." "Let's go!" "Turn starboard!" "How many ships do they haveI" "Guys, we've got trouble! The marines are heading this way!" Luffy shouts in panic, "LET'S GET OFF THE SHIP AND LOOK! SHE'LL BE THERE FOR SURE! THERE'S NO WAY SHE WON'T COME!"

In Alubarna the angry crowd roars, "SHOW YOUR FACE, YOU PHONY! OR SHOULD WE RATHER SAY, IGARAM!" and "HEY, WHAT'S GOING ON!I" A furious man demands, "WHERE'S PRINCESS VIVI GIVING HER SPEECH FROM!I" while another yells, "WHERE'S THE REAL PRINCESS!I" The fake Vivi on stage sweats under a checkered flag as the mob closes in. Suddenly a massive shout erupts from the sky: "EVERYONE!" as the Straw Hats' ship, now equipped with a large balloon and propeller, soars overhead with Karoo waving excitedly.

Luffy leans over the railing shouting "VIVI!I" as Carue leaps from the ship. Vivi appears in her royal gown, waving triumphantly beside the giant duck Carue who cries "QUACK!" with wings spread wide. The crew reacts in joy: Chopper yells "VIVI!!" while Usopp cheers, "TURN THE SHIP AROUND! QUICK!" and Sanji exclaims, "See! She DID come!" The marines are already visible in the distance as the ship banks sharply.

Luffy stares in shock, "What...!I" as a ship sails toward the shore. Vivi stands with a calm smile, declaring, "To say good-bye! I've come." A massive exclamation erupts from the crowd. Vivi continues, "BUT I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING UNTIL NOW!" while someone in the crowd wonders, "Who's she talking toI" Carue the duck quacks, "QUACK! Carue, give me the receiver." Vivi insists, "I... CAN'T COME WITH YOU!" Luffy protests, "BUT I CAN'T...! BECAUSE YOU SEE, I'D LOVE TO GO ON ANOTHER ADVENTURE," his face filled with emotion. Onlookers murmur, "Is that... the princess of Alabasta!I It can't be...! She should be at Alubarna for her coming of age ceremony right now!"

Vivi shouts, "THAT'S WHY I CAN'T COME!" as the Straw Hats react with surprise. Luffy grins widely and says, "Sure!" while Nami smiles beside him. The crowd cheers, "Nice show, captain!" and "We came to see princess Vivi's face!" Igaram yells, "Get off the stands, Capt. Igaram!" Vivi cries out, "I LOVE MY COUNTRY TOO MUCH!" A pirate flag with crossed bones is shown as narration explains, "YOU KNOW, THOSE CROSSES ON PIRATE FLAGS ACTUALLY SYMBOLIZE DEATH. 'CAUSE WE'RE PIRATES! WHYI I WANT THE MARK TO BE A CROSS!"

Luffy insists, "WHATEVER, JUST DRAW THE DAMN MARK ALREADY, THAT'S NOT THE POINT HERE." Nami agrees, "SURE, I'M FINE WITH A CROSS." Luffy adds, "RIGHT, VIVII YOU THINK CROSSES ARE COOL TOO, RIGHT!I" and "WHO CARES! LET'S GO WITH A CROSS!" Usopp and others react nearby. Vivi stands with Igaram, saying, "I'LL REMAIN HERE NOW..." Luffy smiles, thinking, "THIS SHOULD DO...!" In a dramatic close-up, Vivi weeps and pleads, "WILL YOU CALL ME YOUR FRIEND ONE MORE TIME!I IF WE MEET AGAIN SOME-DAY..."

Onlookers react in shock, "The princess is a friend of the pirates!I It can't be!" and "Did you hear that just now!I Does the princess have some connection with the Straw Hat pirates!I" Marines watch from their ships. Luffy smiles as Vivi and Igaram walk away. Luffy worries, "If they have proof that she has connections with us, she'll be branded a criminal." Nami adds, "The marines are watching her right now." Luffy yells, "You can't reply!" Vivi turns back with tears, saying, "LET'S SAY OUR GOOD-BYES IN SILENCE." The group walks away together as Vivi whispers, "..."

The Straw Hat crew and Vivi stand together on the deck, backs to the viewer, raising their left arms high in unison. Each arm bears a bold black X mark. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper hold the pose proudly. Below, a three-panel sequence shows the Going Merry sailing away under a bright sky. A large banner reads "LET'S SET SAIL!" while speech bubbles declare "WILL BE THE MARK OF OUR FRIENDSHIP!" and "FROM NOW ON, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, THIS MARK ON OUR LEFT ARM...". The final close-up reveals Nami's tear-streaked face, eyes wide with emotion and a trembling smile as she cries happily. Japanese text at the bottom reads "23 ビビの冒険、(完)".
