DAMN GEEZER

On a vast empty ocean a tiny island rock rises from the sea. A mustached man says, “SO LET'S JUST GET ALONG UNTIL HELP COMES, ALRIGHTI” and “THAT'S THE SITUATION WE'RE STUCK IN.” Sanji sits alone on the rock, sweat on his face, declaring “I'M GONNA SURVIVE ALONE.” He adds bitterly, “THAT DAMN GEEZER… LIKE I'D LET HIM KNOW IF I SEE A SHIP. HE CAN GO TO HELL FOR ALL I CARE.”

Sanji sits on the rock looking out to sea. “I'M SURE I'LL BE ABLE TO SPOT AT LEAST 1 OR 2 SHIPS IF I WAIT 4-5 DAYS.” “I CAN SEE SO FAR AWAY ACROSS THE OCEAN.” He opens a large sack of supplies. “I HAVE 5 DAYS WORTH OF FOOD. NOW LET'S SEE.” “BESIDES, I DON'T WRECK ANY WRECKAGE OF THE PASSENGER SHIP I WAS ON, SO IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THEY MIGHT COME AND RESCUE ME.” Close-up, Sanji smiles confidently: “I CAN DEFINITELY SURVIVE. IF I CAN WAIT OUT 20 DAYS, I'M SURE I'LL PASS BY HERE. IT'S SIMPLE!” He continues planning: “BUT THERE'S PLENTY OF RAINWATER TRAPPED IN THE CREVICES THAT I CAN DRINK, SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET BY SOMEHOW. I'LL GET TO EAT LESS PER DAY, BUT THINKING OF THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, IT'D BE BEST TO SPLIT IT EVENLY OVER 20 DAYS.”

Sanji stands on the rock looking desperate, sweat flying. Japanese sound effects “ぎゅるるるる…” and “パク…” appear as he clutches his stomach. He dives toward a barrel, “PWAHH!” and drinks greedily with “GLUG GLUG GLUG!” and “GULP!” while “ザバッ” and “がばっ” mark the splashing water. A panel shows the barrel labeled with “NO! I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE IT PAST THE 1ST DAY YET! IT HAS TO LAST 20 DAYS NO MATTER WHAT!” Sanji pulls back, eyes wide, thinking “MAYBE I'LL EAT JUST A LITTLE MORE….” More gurgling SFX “ぎゅるるるる…” and “GULP!” follow as he hunches over the supplies again.

Sanji lies exhausted on a barren rocky outcrop surrounded by ocean. His stomach growls violently as he clutches it in pain. "UWEHHH...!" "DAMN IT! STOP RUMBLING, STOMACH!" "GUUURGLE..." He sits up, staring at the empty horizon. Time passes with only the sound of waves. From a distance he watches the sea. "NOTHING PASSED BY TODAY." "MAYBE IN 2 OR 3 DAYS..."

Heavy rain pours down. "THE 5TH DAY" is marked on a scroll. Sanji stands in the downpour beside a broken wooden structure. "IT'S RAINING... IT'LL BE HARDER TO SPOT A SHIP WITH ALL THIS RAIN." Suddenly a ship appears on the horizon. Sanji's eyes widen in shock and hope. "IT'S A SHIP!" He runs to the edge, waving desperately. "HEEYYYY!!! HEEYYYY!!!" "I'M RIGHT HERE!" He frantically tries to light a signal fire with wet driftwood. "NO WAIT! DON'T GO!" "DAMN IT! THE WOOD'S TOO WET TO CATCH ON FIRE!" "FIRE! I GOTTA LIGHT A FIRE TO SIGNAL THEM!"

The ship begins to sail away. Sanji screams at the top of his lungs, tears and rain streaming down his face. "HELP!" "WAIT! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!" The vessel grows smaller in the storm. "RUMMMMBLEEE..." "CRASH!" "OVER HEREEE!" Sanji collapses to his knees in despair, pounding the rock. "NOOOO!!!"

"THE 25TH DAY" is marked on a scroll. Sanji sits alone, holding a moldy piece of bread. "MY VERY LAST PIECE OF BREAD... IT'S ALL MOULDY..." Memories flash of the Baratie cooks laughing and eating. "LOOK AT ALL THE LEFTOVERS." "OH MAN, WHAT A WASTE." He devours the scraps ravenously, tears falling. "SO WHADDYA SAYI WANT SOMEI" "KNOCK IT OFF, GUYS! STOP EATING THE LEFTOVERS!" "I JUST THREW OUT SOME OF THE OTHER INGREDIENTS THAT LOOKED LIKE THEY WENT BAD." Sanji weeps as he forces down the spoiled food. "NO!"

A massive splash erupts as someone crashes into the sea. "NO..." a voice cries. "AGHH!" Another figure tumbles through the air. On a barren rocky outcrop, a young boy with a distinctive curled eyebrow sits alone. "AH." he mutters as small birds flutter nearby. A wooden barrel lies overturned nearby. "MY LAST BREAD..." the boy says, bowing low in exhaustion while strange shield-like shapes loom in the distance. In a series of close panels, a hand reaches desperately from the rocks. "UGH..." the boy groans, sweat dripping. Farther out, a tiny figure stands on the vast rock formation. "SO... HUNGRY...." the boy thinks, staring at the empty barrel as hunger pangs overwhelm him.

On the 30th day, the boy sits beside the broken barrel and wooden shelter. "I'M SURE IT'LL COME IN JUST A FEW MORE DAYS..." he says hopefully. Heavy rain begins to fall. "THE 50TH DAY" passes with the boy huddled under the shelter as storms rage. By the 70th day, the boy crawls weakly across the rocks. "ずる..." he drags himself forward, barely able to move. In a close-up, the exhausted boy with the curled eyebrow stares blankly ahead, sweat and fatigue marking his face as birds fly in the distance.

Zeff glares from the rocks. "THAT DAMN GEEZER DIED ALREADY...I I WONDER IF..." he mutters. Young Sanji replies firmly, "OF COURSE! I'M AN ADULT, SO IT'S ONLY NATURAL THAT I EAT MORE." Zeff continues, "AND HE STILL HAS ALL THAT FOOD LEFT!" Sanji thinks to himself, "...HE'S STILL ALIVE...!" His expression darkens as he plots, "I'LL KILL HIM AND STEAL HIS FOOD... IT'S ALL THAT GEEZER'S FAULT TO BEGIN WITH ANYWAYS!" "I'LL SURVIVE NO MATTER WHAT," Sanji declares while gripping a blade. Zeff stares in shock, "HE HAS... THAT MUCH FOOD STILL LEFT...!"

Young Sanji stands barefoot on the rocks holding a large knife, facing Zeff who sits with his back turned. "DID YOU SEE A SHIP...I" Sanji asks. Zeff retorts, "WHAT DID YOU COME HERE FOR, YOU LITTLE EGGPLANT." Sanji lunges forward. "KILL ME IF YOU CAN! I'M GOING TO DIE ANYWAYS IF I GO WITHOUT FOOD ANY LONGER," Zeff growls. "I'VE COME HERE TO TAKE YOUR FOOD!" Sanji shouts. Their blades clash violently. "CLANG CLANG CLANG!" sparks fly. "WHA...." Sanji gasps in surprise as Zeff overpowers him. "HOW DARE YOU TAKE SO MUCH TO EAT ALL BY YOURSELF..." Zeff snarls during the fierce struggle.

On a rocky shore littered with treasure, the towering pirate Zeff glares angrily and declares, "DIDN'T I SAY NO CONTACT UNTIL ONE OF US SEES A SHIPI" Young Sanji stands nearby with an empty speech bubble. Zeff calls him "LITTLE EGGPLANT." Sanji examines scattered jewels and pearls, muttering "WHAT'S ALL THIS...I" and "IT'S ALL JEWELS, PEARLS, GOLD, AND WHATNOT..." Zeff reflects, "STRANGE, ISN'T IT...I TO BE FILTHY RICH... YET CAN'T GET ANY FOOD TO EAT..." Suddenly realizing the implications, Sanji's eyes bulge in shock with "!!!" He grabs Zeff and demands, "DIDN'T YOU HAVE THAT HUGE BAG OF FOOD!I WHERE'S ALL THE FOOD!I JUST HOW DID YOU SURVIVE UNTIL NOW!I" Sanji then notices the small bag and exclaims, "TREA-SURE... THIS BAG IS NOTHING BUT... HEYI"

Zeff sits cross-legged on the rocks with a massive SFX "ドサ...!" as Sanji stares in horror from the side. In a flashback panel, Sanji asks "DID YOU... TO YOUR LEG...I" while Zeff looks down. Sanji, covered in sweat and bubbles, cries "WHAT HAPPENED..." Zeff calmly answers "YES." Sanji then screams in close-up, "DID YOU EAT YOUR OWN LEG!I"

Zeff confirms "YES." and states "I HAVE 5 DAYS WORTH OF FOOD." and "ALL THERE WAS TO BEGIN WITH!I" while sweating heavily. He continues, "WAS THE FOOD THAT YOU GAVE ME," as Sanji listens in disbelief. In a wider shot on the cliff, Sanji asks "WHY..." and Zeff replies "YES..." explaining "BUT YOU CAN'T BE A PIRATE ANYMORE WITHOUT YOUR LEG!" Sanji shouts "WHY!I I DON'T REMEMBER DOING A SINGLE FAVOUR FOR YOU! SO WHY!I" and "WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!I I TRIED TO KILL YOU BEFORE, YOU KNOW!!!"

In close-up, Zeff says "BECAUSE YOU AND I, SHARE THE SAME DREAM." On the cliff, Zeff sits and declares "IT EXISTS." and "WHEN THE RIGHT TIME COMES, GO TO GRAND LINE AND FIND IT." Sanji reacts "ALL BLUE...!I" and "B-BUT EVEN YOUR CREWMATES SAID IT DIDN'T EXIST...!" Zeff continues, "THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE BELIEVED IN ALL BLUE, BUT THEY WERE GOOD-HEARTED IDIOTS. I CAN'T IMAGINE EVER CONTINUING MY LIFE AS A PIRATE WITHOUT THOSE GUYS. THEY WERE GOOD FRIENDS... BUT I SAW THE POSSIBILITY OF ALL BLUE'S EXISTENCE....HOWEVER, I'VE ALREADY LOST ALL MY COMRADES. I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT IN THE ONE YEAR I WAS IN GRAND LINE."

On a barren rock in the middle of the ocean, young Sanji lies collapsed while Zeff sits nearby. Narration reflects: "THE VASTNESS OF THE SEAS...I HAVE DIED DESPISING, I WONDER HOW MANY MEN... THE SEA... IS TOO BIG... AND TOO CRUEL..." Zeff shouts at the boy, "DON'T YOU GO AND DIE ON ME, YOU HEAR! G-GEEZER! DON'T DIE!" Time passes as they endure starvation. Zeff recalls, "IN ALL MY YEARS AS A PIRATE, I'VE GONE THROUGH MY FAIR SHARE OF TIMES WITHOUT FOOD." Sanji, barely conscious, mutters about building a restaurant: "THAT'S RIGHT... IF I EVER MANAGE TO GET OFF THIS ROCK, I'LL BUILD IT EVEN IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO. A RESTAURANT...I I THINK HOW NICE IT'D BE IF THERE WAS A RESTAURANT FLOATING ON THIS OCEAN."

Zeff tells the weakened Sanji, "THEN I'LL GET STRONGER! HA... IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR A WEAK LITTLE EGGPLANT LIKE YOU..." Sanji cries out desperately, "A-ALRIGHT! THEN I'LL HELP OUT TOO! SO PLEASE DON'T DIE YET! THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN RUN A RESTAURANT LIKE THAT IN THIS AGE OF PIRATES IS ME." A ship approaches the rock on the 85th day. Voices exclaim, "WHAT!I ARE YOU SERIOUS!I I MUST'VE HEARD THEIR VOICES DURING THAT ONE STORM AROUND HERE 3 MONTHS AGO! THERE'S 2 PEOPLE WHO'VE PASSED OUT ON THIS ROCK! THEY'RE STILL BREATHING! LOOK! THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE!" In the present, Luffy finds Sanji collapsed and shouts "SANJI!" Sanji replies weakly, "YOU SAVED MY LIFE......YOU ATE YOUR OWN LEG AND GAVE ME ALL THE FOOD..." A chained man reacts in shock, "HE CAN STILL TALK, AFTER TAKING MY PEARL PRESENT!I"

Sanji declares with fierce determination, "HE'S A GEEZER WHO GAVE UP EVERYTHING FOR THE SAKE OF ONE LITTLE BRAT. AND I WON'T LET YOU KILL THE DAMN GEEZER EITHER... I'M NOT HANDING OVER THIS RESTAURANT. AHHH! HE STOOD BACK UP!" The Baratie restaurant stands in the background amid swirling smoke and debris. Sanji clutches his chest, tears streaming, and vows, "THEN I CAN NEVER REPAY MY DEBT TO HIM! IF I CAN'T EVEN PUT MY LIFE AT RISK TO SAVE HIM, GRIP"
