Salvage King Masira

On the deck of the Going Merry, the crew is looking up at the sky in disbelief. Usopp yells, "ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME!? SO THERE'S AN ISLAND FLOATING IN THE SKY!?" Nico Robin calmly corrects him, "You're a little mistaken... It'd be more accurate to say, That there's a 'sea' floating up in the sky." Zoro is confused, asking, "So the ship and the skeletons fell down from an island all the way up there!? I don't see anything resembling an island though..." Sanji agrees, "That makes even less sense..." Nami is shocked, exclaiming, "A SEA!?" Meanwhile, Luffy is thrilled, shouting, "AWESOME!"

Luffy excitedly points up at the sky, shouting, "SO THERE'S AN ISLAND ON A FLOATING SEA UP IN THE SKY, RIGHT!? SET FULL SAIL AHEAD! ALRIGHT, MATEYS! TURN THE RUDDER UPWARDS! UP, UP, UP INTO THE SKY!" Usopp and Chopper cheer along with him. Zoro flatly points out, "Yeah... The rudder doesn't turn that way, cap'n." Sanji adds, "To be honest, I've never seen any 'Sky Island.'" Robin agrees, "Nor have I heard of one..." Nami is frustrated, yelling, "EXACTLY! This is absurd! An island or sea or whatever floating in the sky!? The log pose must be broken, that's all!" Robin turns to her and says, "No, Ms. Navigator... What you should be worrying now is not how to fix the log pose, But how to get up into the sky."

Zoro and Chopper are looking out at the wreckage of the fallen ship. Chopper asks, "What're those two up to now?" Zoro replies, "Investigating, they said..." On the deck, Robin continues explaining to Nami and Sanji. "No matter how bizarre the situations this ship finds itself in... No matter how great the panic that befalls this ship... When sailing these seas, doubt the common sense in your minds, but never the log pose. One must never doubt the log pose. That is an ironclad rule." A close-up of Robin shows her serious expression as she concludes, "BECAUSE WHEREVER THAT NEEDLE POINTS, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE AN ISLAND."

Nami watches Robin and asks, "What's she doing, opening that coffin...?" Robin is examining a skull she pulled from the wreckage. Sanji, smoking nearby, comments, "A skeleton and a beautiful woman go oddly well together! <3" Usopp remarks, "You've got one macabre tastes, sister." Zoro asks, "Can you figure something out from that?" Robin replies, "We'll see..." She pieces the skull back together, prompting someone to say, "Whoa, you put it back together!" Robin observes, "The holes here are artificial. Man-made, clearly." Sanji assumes, "Ohh... So he kicked the bucket after getting his skull pierced..." Robin corrects him, "No, these holes are from surgery... 'Trepanation.' Right, Doctor?"

Chopper confirms Robin's deduction, "...That's right. Long ago, people used to drill holes in skulls to treat intracranial diseases. But that's a medical practice from really, really long ago...!" Robin continues her analysis, "...Yes, over 200 years has passed since this man's death. He was in his early 30s, When he fell sick during a voyage and succumbed to death. Seeing how the skull's teeth are still well attached to the skull, It must have been coated with tar." She reads from a book she found, "This was a noted custom in a certain region of South Blue, Which means this ship must have been sent all the way out to the Grand Line on some exploration....Ah, here it is. 208 years ago, St. Briss set sail from the Briss Kingdom of South Blue." Zoro realizes, "Ahh! It's the same ship as the one that just fell!" Robin notes, "Now that I think about it, the sail did have a mark like this... It must have been drifting in the sky for at least 200 years..." Nami is amazed, "You can find out that much from a single skeleton...!?" Robin replies, "Corpses may not speak, but they still carry a wealth of information."

Robin adds, "If it's an exploration vessel, then it should have many logs, documents, and samples onboard..." Nami angrily yells at Luffy and Usopp, who are splashing around in the water near the sinking wreckage, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO DOING!?" Voices from the water say, "Right... But the ship is already sinki- LUFFY, HANG IN THERE! BFFFT PFFT MNN!" Suddenly, Luffy pops up from the water with a huge grin, shouting, "Guys! Guys! I did it! I found something super-duper amazing!" He climbs back onto the ship and holds up a piece of paper, yelling, "CHECK THIS OUT!"

Luffy holds up the large, old map he found. He excitedly announces, "A MAP OF A... SKYPIEA... SKY ISLAND!?" The map shows a detailed drawing of an island resting on clouds, labeled "SKYPIEA". Nami looks at it closely, reading the name, "Skypiea..." Luffy leans in eagerly, asking her, "WELL!? WELL!? Does this mean there's really an island up in the sky...!?"

Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper are jumping for joy, cheering loudly. "WOOHOO! USOPP! CHOPPER! THERE'S REALLY A SKY ISLAND! AN ISLAND OF DREAMS! WE CAN GO TO THE ISLAND OF DREAMS! AN ISLAND OF DREAMS!?" Nami sighs and tells them, "...You're all making such a fuss for over what's barely a sliver of possibility. There's plenty of fake maps in this world, you know!" Usopp and Chopper instantly become depressed, muttering, "Ah... S-sorry-" and "It exists, it exists!...like absolutely....yeah. But, umm, the thing is..." Nami suddenly yells in frustration, "I HAVE NO FREAKIN' CLUE HOW TO GET THERE! Nami... Please treat the ship with care." Luffy yells back, "WELL YOU'RE THE NAVIGATOR! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! There are some things in this world that you just can't DO SOMETHING ABOUT! IT DOESN'T MATTER! WE'RE GOING TO THE SKY AND THAT'S IT!" Sanji watches Nami and swoons, "Angry Nami's so cute too... <3"

Zoro complains, "Ugh, this is getting nowhere! In any case, with the log pose-needle pointing upwards like this, We can't exactly continue sailing!" Robin suggests, "Like Robin said just now, what we need is information! If that huge ship really went to the sky, then it must be possible for our ship to go too! We've gotta get any remaining logs or journals on that ship somehow!" Usopp points out, "But it's already sunk below the surface." Nami declares, "IF IT SANK, THEN WE'VE GOTTA SALVAGE IT!" Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper cheer, "RIGHT ON! LIKE HELL WE CAN!" Chopper asks, "What does 'salvage' mean?" Robin explains, "It means lifting sunken ships back up to the surface....But that ship's too big for that to be possible." Suddenly, Luffy appears wearing a makeshift diving suit made from a barrel, chuckling, "Heh heh... I gotta say..."

Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are all wearing the barrel diving suits, connected to the ship by air hoses. Sanji complains, "This is some crazy stuff you're pressing me into..." Zoro confidently says, "I promise I'll find some clues on how to go to the sky, Nami! <3" Sanji adds, "Thanks, I'll leave it to you! <3" Usopp reassures them, "Dive down with no worries, lads! My design is flawless!" The three of them jump into the ocean. A large sea monster is seen swimming nearby. Nami calls out, "Good luck, All of you!"

Underwater, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are sinking rapidly in their barrel suits. A massive sea turtle swims past them. Sanji nervously says, "OH CRAP..." On the ship, Usopp is communicating with them through a tube. Chopper's voice comes through, "This is Chopper. Respond if you can hear me, over." Luffy reports, "This is Luffy. There's a lot of monsters down here, over." Someone asks, "What is this, a giant sea snake lair!?" Sanji yells, "This is Sanji. AGHHH! IT LOOKED THIS WAY!" Usopp asks, "They're A-OK, Chopper. A-OK!?" Nami tells Chopper, "They can handle themselves so don't worry about them! Chopper, hang on tight to the brake." Chopper replies, "Okay." Usopp wipes his brow, "Thank god I didn't go down with them." Robin starts singing cheerfully, "Saaaalvaaage! Saaaalvaaage!"

Robin continues to sing, "Saaaaaalvaaage! Saaaaaalvaaage!" Suddenly, loud noises interrupt her. "CLANG CLANG CLANG" "FWEEP FWEEP FWEEP" "TWEET TWEET TWEET". Usopp looks around in confusion, "What in the world..." A large ship approaches, making a tremendous racket with monkeys clashing cymbals and blowing whistles. Usopp yells over the noise, "FWEEP FWEEP FWEEP TWEET!!" A massive shadow falls over the Going Merry. Usopp screams, "AND... STOP!!!"

A massive, monkey-themed ship pulls up alongside the Going Merry. Voices from the new ship shout, "AYE, AYE, SIR!" and "IS THIS WHERE THE SHIP SANK!?" Another voice yells, "AYE, AYE, BOSS!" A huge figure on the ship responds, "BOSS!? THAT'D BE ME, OF COURSE!"

The figure is revealed to be Masira, a massive man who strongly resembles a monkey, wearing a shirt with his name on it. He strikes a pose and yells, "PREPARE TO LIFT THE SHIP! EVERY SUNKEN SHIP IS MINE! UKIKIKI!" An introductory text box identifies him as the Boss of the Masira Pirates, "Salvage King Masira", with a bounty of 23,000,000 Beli. His crew, also monkey-themed, cheers wildly around him.

Nami sighs in annoyance, "Great, a bunch of weirdos popped up again... Just when we're busy, too..." Masira notices them and yells, "Hey! What're you doing over there? This is my territory!" Someone questions, "Territory?" Masira leans in, "That's right... Any ship that sinks in this territory is mine. You aren't getting your grubby lil' paws on it, are ya now? Well!?" Robin observes, "It seems he's here to salvage the ship..." Usopp remembers, "O-oh right, they were chanting about it just now." Nami whispers, "What do we do? Is this our chance?" Masira gets impatient and yells, "STOP MUTTERIN' TO YOURSELVES! ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION ALREADY, UKEEE!"

Robin politely asks, "Excuse me, may I ask you a question?" Masira is taken aback, "YOU'RE asking ME a question now!? Alright. Shoot." Robin asks, "Will you be conducting a salvage operation now?" Masira pauses, "Hmm!?" He suddenly blushes furiously, misinterpreting her words, "GEE, YOU'RE MAKING ME BLUSH! <3" Usopp sweatdrops, "That's not even a word..." Masira continues, "You really think I look like a monkey? Umm, I never even- Yeah, people tell me that a lot. Y'might even say, I'm a salvaging chimp-ion! Uhh, sure..." He regains his composure, "So... Are you going to be salvaging the ship or not? 'Course! That's my callin' in life! If there's a sunken ship, then I'm the man to raise it back up! And if there's a floating ship, I'll sink it too and raise it back up! There ain't a ship in this world that me and my crew can't salvage!"

Robin asks, "If so... May we observe your work?" Masira agrees enthusiastically, "Hm? Oh, I see! You folks ain't never seen a salvaging before, eh? Sure, sure! Watch all you want!" Usopp whispers to the crew, "ALRIGHT! LET'S JUST WATCH FOR NOW..." Suddenly, Masira's crew yells, "BOSS! WE'VE GOT TROUBLE!" Masira asks, "What is it!?" A crew member reports, "The men we sent down to attach the 'cradles' were-" Masira asks, "Did the sea monsters get'em!?" The crew member replies, "No, they look like they were hit by humans...!" Masira realizes, "WHAT!? So there's someone down there...!?" Nami and Usopp panic, thinking they've been caught. Masira turns to them and yells, "HEY, YOU!" They flinch, "ACK! N-NO, WE...!" But Masira just warns them, "THERE'S SOMEONE DOWN THERE! SO BE CAREFUL!" Usopp sighs in relief, "THANK GOD HE'S AN IDIOT..."

Masira orders his crew, "GET THE 'CRADLES' ATTACHED SO WE CAN GET SALVAGING!" His crew responds, "AYE, AYE, SIR!" Underwater, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy are shown in their barrel suits, looking around. The massive sunken ship is shown resting on the ocean floor, with thick ropes and hooks being lowered down towards it.
