Attendants warn the passengers, "Please watch your footing," and explain to the merfolk that they have left the climate-controlled airspace of the bubble, so they should use reinforced bubbles. From there, the passengers ascend a very long, very large staircase toward the continent at the center of the world itself, where the descendants of the architects of the world live. Shirahoshi is overwhelmed by the height and the open air, crying "Wah!" as the procession approaches the place the narration presents as the highest and largest continent, the austere land soon named Mary Geoise.

The gates of "The Holy Land Mary Geoise" open onto a beautiful, immaculate cityscape. Shirahoshi gazes out and says, "What a beautiful place!" while the fish-men notice the greenery and ask if that green thing over there is a "forest." Someone answers that it is manmade. Guards direct Princess Shirahoshi and the other fish-men to take hold of handles, and the floor itself begins to carry them forward. Shirahoshi panics, crying, "Whoaaa! Oi, is this an earthquake?! I'm gonna die! Protect me!" The answer is calm and mechanical: "It's a travolator. The ground moves." The Holy Land appears elegant and advanced, but the unease begins immediately beneath that polished surface.

The Ryugu party decides not to ride the moving path. Fukaboshi suggests they walk normally, and Shirahoshi, delighted by the scenery, asks her father if they can take their time and look at the forest. Neptune agrees: "Of course. We shall accompany you, then." Stelly mocks them from the travolator, calling the amenities of civilization frightening and sneering at the "stupid fish," even as he wants to introduce the convenience to his own kingdom. The page then cuts below the shining road and reveals the truth: exhausted slaves are forced to power the moving floor by hand. Overseers order, "Move the path at a comfortable speed!" and "Slowly, steadily... No breaks!" A slave wheezes, "Save me... or at least kill me..." The page turns Mary Geoise's beauty into a direct lie, showing that its comfort is built on hidden suffering.

At the front gate to Mariejois's Pangaea Castle, the procession reaches the center of the Holy Land's political power. The command rings out: "Open the gates!" Shirahoshi is entering the diplomatic heart of the world as a princess, while one of the Celestial Dragons has already reduced her to an object he wants.

Inside Pangaea Castle, the Mingling Plaza fills with royals and bodyguards from all over the world. The fish-man princes look around at the crowd and note that all of these people are monarchs and guards, while one of them exclaims, "From all over the world!" Ryuboshi and Manboshi are called by name, "Mambo! Sambo!" and the family is told that once the seven days of conference begin, even relatives will likely be too busy to grow bored. The food and drink are luxurious, and although weapons have been confiscated, the bodyguards look powerful. Neptune appears to be getting along well with other rulers, giving the plaza the outward atmosphere of ceremony, diplomacy, and guarded politeness before the tensions begin to surface.

Shirahoshi's beauty draws immediate attention from marriage-minded royals. One man gushes, "My, my! A seafloor princess!" and flatters her: "Your breathtaking beauty belies even the rumors of its magnificence." Another offers his single son, while the sons themselves shout, "Papa! This one ain't bad! She ain't bad!" and "Pappy! I like this girl!" Shirahoshi answers with devastating honesty: "You're not my type!" Her family cries "Shirahoshiii!" as the rejected suitors take offense. A calmer woman tries to cover for her, saying Shirahoshi's words are only a common phrase in their dialect that means "I've not yet married either," but the instruction that follows is the real lesson of court politics: in this situation, she should say things like "Oh, I'm so flattered" or "Let us go for food sometime, then" to mollify people even if they are lies. Shirahoshi is horrified by the idea of lying, while the insulted royals rage, "How dare you! You've shamed me!"

Shirahoshi then meets Rebecca, Vivi, Carue, and Leo, and the mood brightens at once. Seeing the tiny Leo, she beams and says, "So cute!" Rebecca panics, "I'm so sorry! Dalton confronts him with a colder rebuke: "Wapol! Enough of your boring jibes. I see you've birthed yet another dismal country." The page names Kureha as doctor of the Sakura Kingdom and Dalton as its king, reintroducing the people who replaced Wapol's tyranny in Drum's reborn nation.

Vivi happily greets the Sakura Kingdom delegation: "Dalton! Dr. Kureha! I'm so glad to see you again!" Kureha answers, "Ah, Vivi, my dear. You're looking more gallant than ever." As they part, Dalton asks Vivi, "Did you read the article about Luffy?" and she admits, "Yes! So many times I lost count!" Their old bonds with Luffy sit openly beside the bitter memory of Wapol's rule.

The page briefly explains the Sakura Kingdom's two representatives. He wonders whether the assassin sent to kill him has arrived and tells Magellan not to worry: "Don't tell me you're protecting me, Magellan!"

In Impel Down's deepest prison, Doflamingo laughs in chains and spells out the threat he represents. "They have sent a killer to seal my lips once and for all, have they?!" he says, and asks if they want to make sure he does not spill "the beans on Mary Geoise's secret treasure to anyone." He adds that power has a very short shelf life: "It rots faster than you'd believe!" His laughter carries the scene back to Mary Geoise, where a mysterious figure climbs a stairway while holding Luffy's wanted poster. Behind massive doors, the person enters a cold chamber, and the final reveal is a giant straw hat preserved inside the Holy Land. The chapter ends on the question printed beside it: "Why here in the Holy Land?! Why has this big mystery been hidden here?!"
