THE PORSHEMI INCIDENT

Luffy, beaten and chained, screams "I'M NOT TELLING YOU ANYTHING!!!" as a pirate swings a club, shouting "STUPID BRAT!!" and "LEMME GO!!!" A massive explosion erupts with the sound "ビャーン!!!!!!" A pirate stares in shock, saying "SO THIS IS A REAL... DEVIL FRUIT POWER..." Luffy, now free and stretching, yells "GYAA-AAAAA-AHH!!!" and declares "I TOLD YOU, I ATE THE GOMU GOMU FRUIT."

Pirates demand "YOU KNOW WHERE HE'S HIDING. SO TELL US!!" and "LISTEN KID. YOUR FRIEND, ACE, STOLE MONEY FROM OUR PIRATE CREW... BRING ME MY GLOVES." A massive pirate with wild hair and spiked gloves appears, identified as "OUR CAPTAIN, BREWJAM, IS A MONSTER." He attacks with a spiked weapon, sending Luffy flying as someone shouts "...!! IT WORKED!!"

In the forest between Mt. Colubo and Gray Terminal, Luffy screams "I'M SCARED!!! HELP ME!!" and "GYAAAAAAAHH!!! IT HURTS!!" while fleeing. Pirates yell "YOU GUYS GO LOOK FOR ACE AND SABO." and "IF PORSHEMI AND THE OTHERS COME HERE, IT'S ALL OVER!!" A pirate in a top hat warns "IF THEY FIND US, THEY WON'T JUST TAKE BACK WHAT WE STOLE. THEY'LL TAKE ALL THE TREASURE WE'VE COLLECTED THESE PAST FIVE YEARS!"

The Bluejam Pirates argue among themselves. One growls, "ACE AND SABO, HUH... I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM... BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY... WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES HEREI" Another warns, "THEY'RE MAD DOGS WHO COULD KILL AND EAT A TIGER!!" A third adds, "DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE KIDS." A fourth pirate snaps, "YOU GUYS ARE THE PUNKS FROM TOWN... LEAVE THOSE TWO ALONE." The crew hauls away the treasure as one shouts, "WE MOVED ALL YOUR TREASURE!!" with a loud "ばーん！" impact. "ALL RIGHT, WE'RE DONE!!" The sun sets over the forest. "IT'S ALREADY EVENING..." Below, Luffy stares in shock. "HASN'T SAID ANYTHING!!!" Someone pants, "HAA... HAA... NO, THEY HAVEN'T!! THEY HAVE NO IDEA!!" Luffy gasps, "LUFFY... HAA..." A voice cries out, "ACE!! SABO! WHAT HAPPENEDI HAVE THEY COME TO OUR HIDING PLACE YET!I"

A large pirate ship docks at Gray Terminal's Pirate Cove. A crewman asks, "WHO'S RESPONSIBLE TODAYI" The reply comes, "IT'S PORSHEMI, CAPTAIN BREW JAM!" A map labels the area: Gray Terminal, Pirate Cove, Forest, Mt. Colubo, Windmill Village. On deck, a pirate wonders, "HE COULDN'T HAVE RUN OFF WITH THE MONEY, RIGHT...I" Another mutters, "THEY MUST HAVE FINISHED THE TRANSACTION BY NOW." Bluejam stares at the setting sun. "THE SUN'S GOING DOWN..." Below, Porchemy beats a bound captive, roaring, "P-P-P-PORSHEMI!! IT'S NO USE...!!!" The victim is struck repeatedly. "SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!!!" with heavy impact SFX "ビュルルル！" and "バキッ！"

Luffy hangs upside down, bound and battered. "HAA..." He coughs, "HICK... OEH..." A pirate notes, "HE PROBABLY CAN'T SPEAK ANYMORE... AND FRANKLY, I CAN'T WATCH THIS ANY LONGER!!" Another says, "IT'S POINTLESS. THE LAW HAS NO POWER OVER THIS MOUNTAIN OF GARBAGE..." The crew debates, "SHOULD WE CALL THE AUTHORITIESI" "THAT POOR KID...!!!" One warns, "IF YOU'VE GOT TIME TO WORRY ABOUT THE BRAT, GO FIND ACE AND SABO!! OUR LINES ARE IN DANGER HERE!!" The beating continues. Porchemy demands, "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE KEEPING SECRETS FROM, YOU FUCKING BRAT!I TELL ME!!!" Luffy refuses, "I WON'T TELL YOU!!" The pirate snarls, "FINE!! THEN IT'S TIME TO DIE."

Luffy and Sabo burst onto the scene. Luffy roars, "STOP IT!!!" They attack the pirates. "THEY'RE THE ONES WHO STOLE OUR MONEY!!! DAMN IT!!!" Sabo shouts, "IT'S THEM, PORSHEMI!!" The crew reacts in shock. "!!!I" Porchemy is struck. "A-ACE!!!" Luffy and Sabo fight through the pirates amid heavy impacts and motion lines as the gang tries to defend themselves.

Porchemy looms over the bound boys, blade raised. "IT'LL BE QUICK SINCE YOU CAME TO US!!!" he snarls. "YOUR BUDDY'S TIGHT LIPS WERE GIVING US PROBLEMS!!!" Sabo strains against the ropes as Porchemy presses down. "KU!!!" A sudden strike from off-panel sends Porchemy reeling. "UWO-RYAAAA!!!" Sabo shouts. "SABO!!!" Ace cries out. Porchemy grunts "HMI" as the impact lands. The massive explosion rocks the area with "PORSHEMI!!!" and a huge "ズドゥァーン!!!" blast that scatters debris and knocks everyone back.

Porchemy's knife flies from the impact. "PROUUU!!!" "AH!! MY KNIFE!!" he yells. Sabo swings his pipe. "DOOA!!!" "LET'S GET OUT OF HERE, ACE!!!" Sabo urges. Ace hesitates, "YOU GO ON AHEAD!!!" "UH..." Porchemy recovers and draws his sword. "STOP IT!!! HE'S GOT A SWORD!!!" Ace shouts. "I WON'T RUN AWAY!!!" he declares fiercely. "IF I FACE A GUY, HE'S DIFFERENT FROM THE PUNKS IN TOWN!!!" Porchemy glares, "ARE YOU AN IDIOT!I"

The pirates close in. "DON'T BE RIDICULOUS!!!" one yells. "WE'LL USE IT BETTER." "JUST GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK, YOU ROTTEN KID." Porchemy demands. "HEY... THAT'S A PRETTY BAD DECISION, YOU KNOWI" Ace refuses. "IF I LOST TO A KID... I'D QUIT BEING A PIRATE!!!" Porchemy swings wildly. "YOU... WAIT RIGHT HERE!!" The boys dodge as the blade crashes down. A massive close-up shows Porchemy's furious face with "OOOHH!!" and Ace's tense expression marked by "DOKI..."

Bluejam arrives with his crew. "ARE YOU SERIOUS!II" a subordinate asks. "PORSHEMI, YOU'RE PATHETIC... I HEARD THE STORY." Bluejam states coldly. Porchemy cowers. "DON'T LOOK AT ME. I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE." Bluejam growls. "THE MONEY..." "I'M SORRY BREWJAM..." Porchemy whimpers. Bluejam turns to Ace. "WHY DO YOU HAVE SUCH A DEATH WISH!II THAT'S A BAD HABIT, ACE!! YOU'VE GOT TO RUN WHEN YOU'RE FACING A REAL PIRATE!!!" he roars. Sabo cries out in terror, "UWEEEEEEE-EHHN DOO-OUUUUUUN!" "HAA... AFTER THAT, BREWJAM'S CREW WON'T LEAVE US ALONE NOW. THEY'LL COME AFTER US!!" Sabo warns.

Young Luffy sits bandaged and tear-streaked, muttering "Oh..." as a furious voice snaps, "SHUT UP! HOW LONG ARE YOU GONNA CRY!I I HATE WEAKLINGS AND CRYBABIES!! YOU PISS ME OFF!!" In the next panel Luffy sobs openly, "I WAS SO SCARED... I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE..." Ace, wearing his trademark top hat, glares and shouts "HEY!!" while Luffy stammers "WHY YOU...!!I" The smaller boy in the straw hat answers quietly, "THANKS... FOR SAVING ME... ME... UHH..." and again "THANKS..." Luffy then erupts, "EVEN IF I DON'T, IT'S BETTER THAN DYING, WOULDN'T IT!I WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MY FRIEND SO BADLY!!I" The straw-hatted boy replies, "IF I TALKED, YOU WOULDN'T BE MY FRIEND...!!" Luffy presses on, "THOSE GUYS DON'T CARE ABOUT KILLING WOMEN AND CHILDREN!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING!!I" while the bandit with the top hat and rifle watches from the side.

Luffy roars with tears flying, "I DON'T HAVE ANYONE ELSE!!!" Ace stares in shock. The straw-hatted boy continues, "IT'S WORSE TO BE ALONE THAN TO BE HURT!!! I WOULD BE ALONE... AND I HATE BANDITS!! IF I DIDN'T FOLLOW YOU, I CAN'T GO BACK TO WINDMILL VILLAGE..." Luffy asks, "IF ROGER HAD A KIDI" The boy answers, "I WOULD BE ALONE... WOULD IT BE WORSE...I" and "IF I'M AROUND, WOULD IT BE BETTER...I" while bandits in the background laugh "GAHAHA-HAHA, THAT'D BE THE WORST!!!" The boy finishes, "YOUR PARENTS... OTHER THAN GRAMPS, THEY'RE GONE." Luffy sits on the rock and simply says "YEAH."

Ace asks from behind, "WANT ME TO LIVEI DO YOU OF COURSE!!" A mocking bandit face jeers, "HE WOULD BE SOMEONE WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN BORN! A DEMON!!" Luffy yells, "I'M ONLY SEVEN!! WHEN I'M TEN LIKE YOU, I'LL BE STRONGER AND I WON'T CRY!!!" Ace retorts, "HAVE YOU BEEN PUNCHED BY SPIKES BEFORE!!I STRONGI HOW ARE YOU STRONGI YOU'RE A MAN, BUT YOU'RE STILL CRYING!!" Luffy insists, "I'M NOT SOFT!! I'M STRONG!!" and later "I'M GONNA BE STRONGER THAN ANYBODY!!! I PROMISED SHANKS THAT I'M GONNA BE A GREAT PIRATE!!!" The straw-hatted boy warns, "BUT AFTER TODAY, THOSE PIRATES WILL DEFINITELY COME AFTER US. HEY, I'VE ACTUALLY GOT A PROBLEM. YOUI A PIRATE!I" while distant figures walk along the path.

A large house appears in the forest as voices shout "ACE!! LUFFY!! WHO'S THAT!!! WHY IS THERE ANOTHER BRAT HERE!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!!" Sabo, wearing goggles and a pipe, grins and greets, "YO! DADAN, RIGHTI" Dadan snaps, "IS THAT SO... I HEARD THAT YOU WERE A NO-GOOD OLD HAG, TOO!!" and "I'VE HEARD YOU'RE A NO-GOOD KID, TOO!!" Sabo replies, "I'M SABO." The narration box states, "Ace, Sabo, and Luffy. These three bad boys..." Luffy yells, "LUFFY!! WE'RE GONNA LEAVE YOU BEHIND IF YOU CAN'T KEEP UP!! I'M COMING!!" while Dadan bellows, "YOU KIDS!! WE'RE HOUSING YOU, SO YOU BETTER WORK!!!"

Narration recounts how the pirates in the cove, the punks from town, and the villains of the dump fought the beasts in the mountains and jungles until their names were known even in the central city of the kingdom. In a room, Dogra reads a newspaper while Magra and another bandit sit nearby. Dogra exclaims, "NOW NOW, BOSS!! IT'S RARE TO SEE YOU READING A NEWSPAPER." The boss replies, "I THOUGHT SO..." Dogra wonders, "I WONDER IF IT'LL RAIN SPEARS TODAYI" A large speech bubble states, "WELL, MT. CORBO, THE DUMP AND WINDMILL VILLAGE ARE ALL PART OF THE KINGDOM OF GOA, YOU KNOWI" Magra suddenly shouts in panic, "DOGRA!! MAGRA!! WHERE IS... WHERE IS GOAI" The scene shifts to a wide view of a large building flying a flag. A voice notes, "IT SEEMS SOME VISITORS ARE COMING TO THE KINGDOM. THEY'RE MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT." Another asks, "BUT ARE THEY REALLY THAT IMPORTANTI" A prominent caption declares, "THESE TENRYUUBITO..."
