DIAL ENERGY

Luffy is standing on a Waver, looking down at the pedal. He asks, "Accelerator? This? Just step on this, right?" He presses his foot down on the pedal. Suddenly, the Waver shoots forward across the cloud sea with a loud explosion of speed. Luffy is thrown back, clinging to the handlebars as he flies through the air, screaming, "WAAAA AAAAA AAAAA AAAH". He yells, "IT'S MOVING!!" as the Waver crashes back down into the clouds, creating a massive splash.

The Waver shakes violently as it speeds across the cloud sea. Luffy struggles to hold on, yelling, "WHY IS IT SHAKING SO MUCH...!!? I CAN'T STOP!!!" Usopp watches from the shore, cheering, "WOW!! HE DID IT!!!" Luffy continues to panic, shouting, "UGAH!?" and "YAH! WAH! HABABAH!!?" as the Waver bounces erratically. Suddenly, the Waver flips over completely. Usopp observes, "PRETTY BIG FLIPS, TOO!" and then notes, "IT FLIPPED." Zoro reacts with a shocked "EEEK!!" The Waver sinks into the clouds with a "GURGLE" sound. Usopp says, "NO GOOD, HUH?" and "HE SANK." On the beach, Sanji calmly remarks, "WELL, THIS PLACE IS DIFFERENT FROM NORMAL SEAS, RIGHT? HE MAY ACTUALLY FLOAT." Nico Robin ponders, "I WONDER WHAT'LL HAPPEN TO THOSE WITH DEVIL FRUIT ABILITIES IN THIS SEA OF CLOUD..." Conis looks distressed, saying, "OH NO... I'M SO SORRY. IT'S MY FAULT FOR LETTING HIM BORROW MY WAVER." and asks, "OH NO! IS HE HURT!!?"

Sanji dives into the cloud sea to rescue Luffy. Usopp yells, "WHY DID YOU JUMP DOWN TOO!!?" Conis apologizes profusely, "NO, IT'S MY FAULT FOR LENDING MY WAVER TO A BEGINNER. I'M VERY SORRY." Sanji drags a waterlogged Luffy back onto the beach, scolding him, "IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPID BABBLING!!" Usopp remarks, "THAT WAS CLOSE!! HE ALMOST SANK ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM!!" Sanji notices something strange, saying, "MY FEET...ONE OF THEM PASSED THROUGH THE CLOUD..." Pagaya explains the difficulty of riding a Waver: "SO EVEN THE SMALLEST WAVE CAN CAUSE IT TO TURN. IN ORDER TO FULLY UTILIZE THE POWER, THE HULLS OF THE WAVERS ARE MADE VERY LIGHT. THUS, ONE MUST UNDERSTAND THE SEA VERY WELL AND BE ABLE TO PREDICT THE WAVES. I'M SORRY!!" Usopp asks, "IS IT REALLY THAT HARD!? I WANTED TO TRY IT--" Conis adds, "I'VE BEEN PRACTICING SINCE I WAS A CHILD, AND I ONLY SUCCEEDED RECENTLY." Pagaya notes, "WITH TRAINING, IT TAKES ABOUT 10 YEARS TO LEARN." Usopp is shocked by this, exclaiming, "THAT'S A LONG TIME!! YOU'D NEED A LOT OF PATIENCE!!" Suddenly, a voice calls out from the sea, "HEY--!!"

Out on the cloud sea, Nami is riding the Waver with perfect balance and ease. She smiles and says, "THIS IS AWESOME--<3" Usopp's jaw drops in shock as he yells, "SHE'S RIDING IT!!!" Conis is equally amazed, saying, "WHAT...!! UNBELIEVABLE...!!!" Sanji swoons with heart eyes, cheering, "NAMI-SAN, YOU'RE THE BEST--<3" Luffy is furious and confused, shouting, "WHY!? HOW IS SHE ABLE TO DO IT!?" Usopp explains to him, "CONTROLLING THIS REALLY REQUIRES A CERTAIN LEVEL OF SKILL. IT'S TOO DELICATE FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU, LUFFY!!" Luffy ignores him and yells out to Nami, "HEY, NAMI!! WE'RE GOING TO THE MISTER'S HOUSE! COME BACK NOW!!" Usopp joins in, yelling, "STUPID~~~!!" Luffy continues, "HURRY UP AND COME BACK, STU~~PID~~" Sanji angrily kicks Luffy in the head, muttering, "WHY YOU..." Nami calls back to them from the Waver, "YOU GUYS GO AHEAD!! MISTER, CAN I PLAY A LITTLE LONGER!?" Pagaya happily replies, "YES, PLEASE, BUT BE CAREFUL!!"

Nami continues to speed across the cloud sea on the Waver, looking thrilled. She thinks to herself, "IT'S LIKE I'M IN A DREAM! THERE ACTUALLY EXISTS SUCH A BOAT THAT CAN SAIL FREELY WITHOUT WIND!! I WONDER IF THIS WORKS ON NORMAL SEAS...!? I REALLY WISH I COULD BRING A WAVER BACK WITH US!!" Back on the shore, Usopp remarks, "THE ONE THAT LUFFY BROUGHT BACK WAS BROKEN FOR SURE." Conis is still in awe, wondering, "...HOW CAN SHE NAVIGATE IT SO EASILY WHEN IT SHAKES SO BADLY?" Meanwhile, Luffy is biting into the cloud stairs leading up to Pagaya's house. Sanji notices and asks, "LUFFY, WHAT'RE YOU DOING? WE'RE" Luffy replies with his mouth full of cloud, "BUT IT LOOKS SO~~ FUN...!!" Sanji angrily kicks Luffy in the back of the head, yelling, "SINK!" and asks, "ARE YOU A KID!?"

The crew walks up the long, winding cloud staircase. Luffy, holding his mouth, complains to Sanji, "OUCH!! I BIT MY TONGUE, SANJI~~!!" Sanji bluntly replies, "BITE HARDER!!" Luffy then points ahead and says, "HEY, THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME SORT OF CONSTRUCTION SITE ON THE OTHER SIDE!!" Usopp looks over and asks, "OH? WHAT, WHAT?" Pagaya explains, "THE FACTORY CUTS THE CLOUD INTO BLOCKS FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES." Usopp is surprised, "CLOUDS CAN BE CUT INTO BLOCKS...?" Zoro comments, "EVERYTHING IS SO ILLOGICAL." Usopp asks, "THEY AREN'T CUTTING ROCKS?" Pagaya clarifies, "'CLOUD CUTTING FACTORY'?" Usopp confirms, "ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE 'CLOUD CUTTING FACTORY'?" Pagaya then asks them, "TO GET HERE TO THE WHITE-WHITE SEA, DIDN'T YOU PASS THROUGH THE 'MILKY ROAD'!?" Luffy is confused, "MILKY...!?" Sanji realizes, "DO YOU MEAN WHERE THE SHRIMP HAULED US THROUGH..." Zoro adds, "THE ROUTE THAT LOOKED LIKE A FLAT NOODLE?"

Pagaya continues his explanation, "THAT IS AN ARTIFICIAL CLOUD CANAL. THERE ARE TWO NATURAL CLOUD TYPES IN THIS PLACE. THE KIND YOU SAIL YOUR SHIPS ON IS CALLED 'SEA CLOUD.' THE FLUFFY TYPE THAT YOU CAN WALK ON IS CALLED 'ISLAND CLOUD.'" A small diagram illustrates the Island Cloud floating above the Sea Cloud. Usopp asks, "BUT THEY AREN'T JUST NORMAL CLOUDS, RIGHT!? YOU CAN SWIM AND SAIL..." Pagaya confirms, "THAT'S RIGHT. THIS IS BECAUSE THE MOLECULAR MAKEUP OF EACH CLOUD IS DIFFERENT." Nico Robin chimes in, "ON THE BLUE SEA, I HEARD THAT THERE IS A MINERAL CALLED 'KAIROUSEKI'*" A note explains that Kairouseki is the substance that suppresses Devil Fruit abilities. Usopp asks, "KAIROUSEKI!? IT'S BECAUSE OF THAT?" Robin clarifies, "YES. THAT MINERAL CONTAINS A SPECIAL SUBSTANCE... WE CALL IT 'PYROBLOIN'..." Pagaya elaborates, "IT'S A MOLECULAR SUBSTANCE THAT GETS EJECTED INTO THE AIR BY VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS. WHEN IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH WATER IN THE AIR... SEA CLOUDS AND ISLAND CLOUDS ARE CREATED."

Luffy laughs loudly, "HAHAHAHAHA! OH~~~~ I GET IT!!" Usopp joins in, "YEAH~~~!! THAT'S RIGHT. WHEN I WAS LITTLE, I OFTEN PLAYED WITH IT...THAT 'MOLECULAR SUBSTANCE.'" Sanji scolds him, "YOU CAN'T PLAY WITH THAT!!" Pagaya continues his tour, pointing out various cloud structures. "--NONETHELESS, THE MILKY ROAD I MENTIONED BEFORE... AS WELL AS THE CHAIRS MADE OF CLOUD ON THE BEACH... ARE THOSE TWO SPIRAL SLIDERS ALSO LIKE THAT...? THOSE ARE ALSO MILKY ROADS. ANYWAYS, THOSE WERE ORIGINALLY PRODUCED BY CUTTING THE ISLAND CLOUD AT THE CLOUD CUTTING FACTORY... AND THEN AFTER SOME DENSITY MANIPULATIONS, THESE ARTIFICIAL CLOUD PRODUCTS WERE CREATED." They arrive at a large, elegant house made entirely of clouds. Pagaya announces, "THIS IS MY HOME! PLEASE COME IN." Usopp is impressed, "WHAT A COOL PLACE~~~!! THE VIEW IS GREAT!!" Luffy looks out over the balcony and says, "I CAN SEE NAMI'S WAVER!"

Inside the house, Luffy is holding a small, round shell. He yells directly into it, "USOPP IS STUPID!!!" Usopp, standing nearby, reacts indignantly, "AH, WHY ME?" Conis smiles and instructs Luffy, "HUHU...NOW, PLEASE PRESS THAT BUTTON ON SHELL'S APEX!" Luffy looks confused and asks, "WHAT'S AN APEX?" Usopp clarifies, "THE TOP OF THE SHELL." Luffy presses the top of the shell, noting, "WAH! IT CAVED IN!! IT'S SOFT ON THIS SPOT!!" Usopp dismissively says, "BUT PRESSING IT WON'T DO ANYTHING..." Suddenly, the shell replays Luffy's exact voice: "USOPP IS STUPID!!!" Usopp yells again, "AH, WHY ME?" Conis giggles, "HUHU... NOW, PLEASE PRESS THAT..." Luffy is amazed and says, "WOW!! EVEN THE SHELL CALLED YOU STUPID!!" Usopp angrily retorts, "NO! THAT'S YOUR VOICE!!" Sanji is surprised, "EH--!! IT CAN RECORD SOUND?" Zoro asks, "THAT SHELL IS A 'DIAL'?"

Conis explains the shell's function: "YES. THAT'S A TONE DIAL. IT RECORDS SOUND AND THEN REPLAYS IT LATER. IT'S A SPECIAL SHELL FOUND ONLY IN THE WHITE-WHITE SEA. IT'S MAINLY USED TO RECORD MUSIC." The shell continues to replay Luffy's voice: "USOPP IS STUPID!!! AH, WHY ME? AHAHAHA!" The crew is relaxing in Pagaya's living room, which is furnished with cloud sofas and a table. Chopper sits on a sofa and notes, "THIS SOFA IS KIND OF STIFF--" The cloud fox, Su, sits nearby and makes a "SU--!" sound. Zoro asks, "THERE'S NO BOTTOM IN THIS SEA. HOW DO THESE THINGS SURVIVE?" Conis answers, "WE GET THEM FROM THE SHALLOWS OF THE BEACH." Nico Robin looks thoughtful and says, "IF THIS IS WHAT A DIAL IS... I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT CAN MAKE THE WAVER MOVE..."

Conis holds up a different, slightly smaller shell. "THAT'S NOT IT. THIS IS THE WAVER'S POWER SOURCE. EVEN THOUGH IT'S SMALLER, THIS IS CALLED... A BREATH DIAL." She hands it to Luffy and explains, "IF YOU HAVE IT FACE THE WIND FOR 30 MINUTES, IT WILL BE ABLE TO RELEASE 30 MINUTES WORTH OF WIND." Luffy presses the apex of the Breath Dial, and a powerful gust of wind blasts out, blowing his straw hat back. He exclaims, "WOAH--" Usopp realizes, "SO THAT'S A WAVER...!!" Sanji adds, "I SEE. SO IT MOVES USING THE WIND FROM THIS THING!?" Conis elaborates, "THE SIZE OF STORAGE IS DEPENDANT ON THE SIZE OF THE DIAL, BUT BY PLACING IT AT THE STERN, IT CAN EASILY POWER A LIGHT SHIP."

Conis continues explaining the versatility of Dials. "ALTHOUGH THE WAVER IS THE ONLY ONE I CAN HANDLE, THERE ARE ACTUALLY MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF DIALS. THERE ARE SKATE AND BOARD TYPES AS WELL..." Usopp looks out the window enviously, "THAT'S NICE~~ I WANT TO RIDE ONE, TOO~~ SHE'S SO LUCKY~~" Luffy mentions, "WE HAVE ONE, TOO~~" Usopp replies, "WE DO, BUT IT'S BROKEN." Luffy adds, "PLUS, IT'S BEEN 200 YEARS. THERE'S NO WAY IT CAN STILL MOVE!" Conis corrects them, "NOT NECESSARILY. THE DIAL ITSELF IS THE REMAINS OF A SHELLFISH. AS LONG AS THE SHELL ISN'T BROKEN, IT WILL RETAIN ITS POWER." Usopp's eyes light up with hope, "REALLY!? HEAR THAT?!" Luffy quickly shuts him down, "BUT YOU STILL CAN'T RIDE IT." Usopp slumps in disappointment, muttering, "SO LUCKY~~~~~~"

Zoro asks Conis, "OTHER THAN THOSE TWO, THERE SEEM TO BE MANY TYPES OF DIALS." Conis replies, "EH?" Chopper points to a glowing shell on the table and asks, "DIAL!" Conis confirms, "THIS THING IS ONE, TOO? YES, THIS IS A LAMP DIAL. IT IS USED TO STORE LIGHT." Chopper is amazed, "WAH, THE SHELL IS SHINING." Conis explains the cultural significance of Dials: "ALTHOUGH NOT A DIRECT FORM OF RESOURCE, SKY ISLAND'S CULTURE IS ONE THAT HAS EVOLVED TO COEXIST WITH DIAL ENERGY. ADDITIONAL TYPES OF DIALS INCLUDE THE HEAT STORING FLAME DIAL, THE SCENT STORING FLAVOR DIAL, AND THE IMAGE-RECORDING VISION DIAL, AMONG OTHERS." Chopper is fascinated, "SO INTERESTING~~~~ SO INTERESTING~~~~" Conis concludes, "THEY ARE IMPORTANT TOOLS FOR LIVING IN THE SKY." Suddenly, a loud "GUAH!!!!" interrupts them. Sanji is shown coughing violently, with smoke coming out of his mouth. "*COUGH*!!!"

In the kitchen, Sanji is coughing and holding his throat. Pagaya asks, "WHAT IS IT?" Sanji, holding a jar of cyan-colored sauce, explains, "I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS CYAN-COLORED SAUCE BEFORE, SO I TASTED IT. HOW DO I PUT IT...THE FLAVOR IS VERY STRONG...I CAN'T EVEN FEEL MY TONGUE..." Pagaya realizes the mistake and apologizes, "AH, IT'S GONE BAD ALREADY. I'M SO SORRY." Sanji yells angrily, "DON'T KEEP STUFF LIKE THAT!!!" Usopp chimes in, "ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL SOMEONE!?" Luffy, oblivious to the danger, says, "SANJI SOUNDS HAPPY." Usopp deduces, "HE PROBABLY FELL IN LOVE WITH SKY ISLAND'S CUISINE." Despite the mishap, Sanji quickly finishes cooking and presents a massive, elaborate feast. "OK, FINISHED!!" He announces, "THIS IS MY 'SKY ISLAND FULL COURSE SPECIAL WITH FRUIT AND SKY SEAFOOD.'" The table is laden with various exotic dishes. Luffy drools in anticipation, shouting, "LOOKS TASTY--!!!"

The crew is eagerly devouring the feast. Luffy, with his mouth full, exclaims, "THIS SHRIMP!! HOW CAN I DESCRIBE HOW GOOD IT IS!!?" Chopper happily agrees, "YUM~~!!!" Sanji, smoking a cigarette, looks around and asks, "HEY!! WHERE DID NAMI-SAN GO!? SHE SHOULD BE ON THE SEA..." Conis looks concerned and says, "NO, SHE'S NOT ON THE SEA..." Sanji dismisses it, "THEN SHE PROBABLY WENT OUT TO EXPLORE. JUST FORGET ABOUT HER!!" Conis turns to her father, looking very worried, "F...FATHER, WILL IT BE ALRIGHT!?" Pagaya shares her concern, "OOH, CONIS-SAN, I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS, TOO..." Luffy, still chewing, asks, "WHAT? WHAT'RE YOU TALKING 'BOUT?" Conis explains with a serious expression, "IN SKYPIEA, THERE IS ONE PLACE... WHERE NO ONE SHOULD EVER ENTER. THAT PLACE IS VERY CLOSE TO THIS ISLAND. AND CAN BE EASILY REACHED WITH A WAVER..."

Nami is riding the Waver, approaching a massive, dense forest with towering trees that dwarf her. She looks up in awe and slight trepidation, saying, "WHAT IS THIS??...SO...SO HUGE..." She realizes where she is, "...IT'S THE HOLY LAND. THE PLACE NO ONE SHOULD EVER ENTER...WHAT'S THAT? IT'S WHERE GOD LIVES... 'UPPER YARD.'" As she gets closer to the base of the giant trees, she notices something unusual about the ground beneath them. "THERE'S REAL LAND HERE..."
