Adventure in the Land of Love, Passion, and Toys

The Sunny reaches the "SHORES OF DRESSROSA," where jagged stone cliffs rise from the sea. The crew bursts with excitement despite the danger. Luffy throws his arms wide and shouts, "WE'RE HERE!!" while Law snaps, "LIKE I SAID, KEEP IT DOWN, LUFFY!!! WE'RE IN ENEMY TERRITORY!!" Franky is already thinking about destruction: "OWWW!! I'M FEELING REAL SUPER THIS WEEK! LET'S HURRY UP AND FIND A FACTORY OR TWO TO BLOW SKY-HIGH!!" The ship approaches the island under the eyes of the alliance. Luffy, Zoro, Franky, and the others stand ready on deck, but the page's energy is split between adventure and caution: Dressrosa is their destination, Doflamingo's former kingdom, and enemy ground.

Luffy immediately gets an idea and looks at Momonosuke: "I'VE GOT A GREAT IDEA!" He wants to fly into Dressrosa on the dragon's back: "FLY, MOMO!!" Momonosuke panics and refuses: "TOO HEAVY!! GET OFF!! I CANNOT FLY!! NOR CAN I ENTER THIS ISLAND!! BY MY FATHER'S ORDERS!!" Luffy questions him because Momonosuke flew before, but the boy insists, "I REMEMBER NOTHING OF THE SORT!! ...WELL... EVEN ON THE OFF-CHANCE THAT I DID..." The memory itself clearly terrifies him: "SUCH A DREADFUL THING...!! BY NO MEANS SHALL I EVER AGAIN...!! FLY THROUGH THE SKIES!!" Someone asks his name, and the question hangs over the child's trembling refusal. The landing begins with comedy, but Momonosuke's fear of flying is real and connected to something he cannot calmly explain.

Luffy keeps bothering Momonosuke until the little dragon lashes back. Momonosuke bites and thrashes while shouting, "CUT IT OUT, YOU!!!" and "YOU'RE A RUDE ONE, THAT YOU ARE!! A SAMURAI FEARS NOTHING!!!" Luffy asks bluntly, "WHAT, SCARED OF HEIGHTS OR SOMETHING?" and the insult turns into a childish duel of pride. Momonosuke boasts, "I AM THE MAN WHO WILL BECOME THE SHOGUN OF ALL WANOKUNI, THAT I AM!! YOU FOOL!!" Luffy fires back, "WHO CARES ABOUT SAMURAI? I'M THE MAN WHO'S GONNA BE THE KING OF THE PIRATES SOMEDAY, STUPID!!" Brook, watching the fight, points out the absurdity: "LUFFY-SAN, YOUR OPPONENT IS EIGHT YEARS OLD." Kin'emon apologizes formally, "I APOLOGIZE, LUFFY-DONO. PLEASE OVERLOOK MY SON'S RUDENESS." Then, seeing Momonosuke still clinging to pride, he cries, "CEASE THIS, MOMONOSUKE!!"

Nami tries to calm Momonosuke, but the child snaps, "GET AWAY FROM HER!!" and clings to his role as a samurai. Luffy mutters, "I HATE COWARDS!" while Kin'emon explains that Momonosuke's pride is extreme even for Wano: "AS A SAMURAI CHILD OF WANOKUNI, HE IS REGRET-TABLY HAUGHTY...!!" Luffy says, "LIKE FATHER LIKE SON!! YOU CALL YOURSELF A SAMURAI, BUT NOW WE SEE YOUR TRUE COLORS!!" Momonosuke yells, "I'M NOT TO BLAME, THAT I'M NOT!!" Kin'emon changes the subject to the mission: "LET'S HURRY UP AND HEAD FOR THE CITY. KINEMON, HAVE YOU GOT OUR DISGUISES?" He has prepared local-looking clothes because, "EVERYONE IN DRESSROSA IS GARBED AS SUCH, THAT THEY ARE." The disguises are ridiculous: for men, collared shirts; for women, almost nothing. Nami's reaction makes the point clear: "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!"

Law gives Nami a vivre card and explains its purpose. Nami asks, "A VIVRECARD...?" as Law tears off a piece. He says, "IT LEADS TO 'ZOU,' WHICH I MENTIONED EARLIER. IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO US, HEAD THERE." The card is from his crew, though "IT'S VERY POORLY DRAWN!" and the map marks their current location, Dressrosa, Green Bit, and the route between them. Law divides the operation: "THE GROUP DELIVERING CAESAR... WILL PASS THROUGH DRESSROSA AND CROSS THIS LONG BRIDGE THAT STRETCHES TO THE NORTH, OVER TO GREEN BIT." Someone asks, "WHY NOT JUST TAKE EVERYONE AND GO BY SHIP!?" and Law answers, "I'VE HEARD THAT GOING BY WATER ISN'T POSSIBLE." Robin, seeing the plan, says, "...SOUNDS FUN." The mission is now split by geography and risk.

The alliance divides into teams. Momonosuke worries, "PL... PLEASE KEEP ME SAFE! YOU HEAR ME!?" while Robin calmly says the Green Bit trip "SOUNDS FUN." The "CAESAR EXCHANGE TEAM" is set: Law, Robin, Usopp, and Caesar. Caesar mutters, "WHY NOT JUST TAKE EVERYONE AND GO BY SHIP!?" and then realizes, "WELL, THIS IS ENEMY HEADQUARTERS, AFTER ALL." Nami asks, "HEY!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'IF THE ENEMY COMES...'!?" while Brook says, "EHH? WILL WE REALLY BE SAFE, WATCHING OVER THE SHIP!?" Chopper is assigned to the "SUNNY-GO SAFETY AND SECURITY TEAM" with Nami, Brook, and Momonosuke; he protests, "HEY!! WHO'S GONNA PROTECT US!?" Sanji suddenly cries, "EHH!!? SANJI!!?" when the others vanish, and Law asks, "WHERE'D STRAWHAT-YA AND THE OTHERS GO!!? THEY'RE ESSENTIAL TO THE PLAN!!"

The story enters Dressrosa's harbor city, Acacia. The narration says, "THOSE WHO VISIT THIS COUNTRY... ARE CAPTIVATED BY A NUMBER OF THINGS." First come "THE SWEET-SMELLING FIELDS OF FLOWERS." Then the cuisine appears, and Sanji reacts with absolute joy: "THAT SMELLS GREAT!!" The country is presented as sensory overload: flowers, food, elegant buildings, busy streets, and the warmth of a harbor city that seems welcoming at first glance. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Kin'emon move through the city in disguise, but their attention is already being pulled apart by everything around them. The narration adds that the country prides itself on "THE AROMAS OF THE CUISINE THAT THE COUNTRY PRIDES ITSELF ON" and also "THE TIRELESS AND NEVER-CEASING..." delights of the city. Dressrosa immediately feels alive, distracting, and deliberately seductive.

Dressrosa's next temptation is "PASSIONATE DANCING OF ITS WOMEN." Sanji is immediately overwhelmed and cries, "SMELLS GREAT" with hearts in his eyes, while music and dancing fill the street. Luffy's attention is stolen by a dog carrying food, and he shouts, "HEY, WAIT!! GIVE THAT BACK!!" The dog barks "WOOF WOOF!!" and runs off with the meat while Luffy pleads, "PLEASE WAIT, MARIO!!" and "PLEASE GIVE THAT BACK!!" The others can only stare as one more absurdity enters the scene: the city is full of living toys. A toy soldier greets them, "HELLO THERE, I'M A SOLDIER!! WHAT'S THIS NOW? HAVE WE..." Luffy notices the impossible crowd and asks, "ARE THESE GUYS TOYS...?" The narrator frames it as "ONE MORE THING THAT SURPRISES VISITORS... THEY BLEND INTO THE CITY NATURALLY."

A stuffed toy woman rushes past the crew in distress. Someone asks, "A... STUFFED ANIMAL...?" as she cries, "WAIT!! HAA, HAA..." and complains, "I'VE GOT A STITCH IN MY SIDE... ALTHOUGH I'M ONLY COTTON." A toy soldier follows, cheerfully saying, "HELLO THERE, I'M A SOLDIER!! WHAT'S THIS NOW? HAVE WE... MET SOMEWHERE? YOUR FACE LOOKS FAMILIAR..." Then he recognizes Luffy from the newspaper: "AH! THAT'S RIGHT, THIS MORNING'S NEWSPAPER..." Before the conversation can settle, another toy crashes by shouting, "YOWCH!!" and "MY STRINGS ARE ALL TANGLED!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!" Luffy looks unsettled and asks, "ARE THESE GUYS TOYS...?" Dressrosa's toys are not decorative objects; they move, speak, suffer, and mix naturally with the citizens.

The narration states the truth plainly: "THESE LIVING, BREATHING TOYS... AND COEXIST WITH HUMANS." The street is packed with animal toys, soldier toys, doll-like figures, and ordinary people moving around each other as if this were normal. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Kin'emon are left staring, open-mouthed, at a whole society where toys are residents. The team is labeled "FACTORY DESTRUCTION & SAMURAI RESCUE TEAM," reminding the reader that they are supposed to be searching for the SMILE factory and Kanjuro, not getting lost in the spectacle. Yet Dressrosa's first layer is designed to distract: fragrant food, beautiful women, cheerful toys, and a festival-like street all hide the darker kingdom beneath.

The toy soldier explains a darker side of Dressrosa's passion. When Zoro hears, "... 'AGAIN,' YOU SAY?" the soldier answers that the passionate women of this country "BECOME FRIGHTFULLY JEALOUS, AND WHEN THEY'RE BETRAYED BY MEN... THEY END UP STABBING THEM." He adds, "ESPECIALLY THE BEAUTIFUL ONES - THEY'RE REALLY PRONE TO IT. IT'S TRUE!" Nearby someone cries, "WAHH! A MAN'S BEEN STABBED!!" and Zoro mutters, "AHH... NOT AGAIN." The narration identifies the harbor city: "THIS HARBOR CITY IS 'ACACIA'," and labels Dressrosa "THIS IS THE LAND OF LOVE, PASSION, AND TOYS." Luffy, still focused on food, laughs off the danger: "RIGHT!! SO SOME TOYS ARE MOVING AROUND, BUT WHATEVER!! LET'S EAT!!" The country's charm is mixed with casual violence from the beginning.

The group finally sits down to eat, but Sanji tries to pull them back to the mission. He says, "CALM DOWN, NOW. WE ARE PRESSED FOR TIME, BUT... INSTEAD OF RUNNING AROUND RECKLESSLY, WE SHOULD TRY TO GATHER INFO." He asks, "BUT... DON'T YOU FIND IT STRANGE?" Since Doflamingo supposedly abandoned the throne that morning, Sanji expected some kind of panic: "EVEN IF IT WAS AN ACT, THE KING OF THIS COUNTRY JUST ABANDONED HIS THRONE THIS MORNING, NO? I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THERE'D BE SOME DEGREE OF PANIC, FOR SURE." Kin'emon suggests, "MAYBE THEY DON'T KNOW," but Franky notices the problem: "NAH, THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!!" Sanji points to the proof: "IT WAS YOUR DAMN FACE ON THE FRONT PAGE." Someone nearby reacts, "HEY, MISTER... LET'S ASK," while Sanji warns, "DON'T YOU DARE!!"

The food arrives, and the table becomes another spectacle. A server announces, "YOUR FOOD... I'M SURE YOU'VE BEEN WAITING, OR NOT WAITING!!" The dishes are lavish: "DRESS-SHRIMP PAELLA!!" "ROSA-SQUID INK PASTA!!" and "FAIRY PUMPKIN GAZPACHO!!" Luffy and the others shout, "THEY ALL LOOK AMAZING!!!" When someone asks about "FAIRY PUMPKIN," the local answer turns toward legend: "WELL, THERE'S A LEGEND IN THIS COUNTRY, EVEN NOW, THAT SOME BELIEVE..." There are supposedly fairies: "IN SHORT, THE FAIRIES... THEY COME OUT, AND THEY DON'T COME OUT." Sanji asks, "FAIRIES COME OUT?" and a voice says, "YES... IT'S PRETTY MYSTERIOUS, SINCE HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO." Another warns tourists, "SO THERE YOU GO, TRAVELERS!! PLEASE BE ON GUARD," though the line is immediately undercut: "OR DON'T BE ON GUARD... THE ONLY MYSTERY HERE IS YOU."

The restaurant is also a gambling hall. Luffy notices the noise and asks, "IS IT THOSE GUYS AT THE ROULETTE MAKING ALL THAT NOISE?" Someone explains, "THOSE GANGSTERS ARE TAKING THAT BLIND MAN FOR ALL HE'S WORTH." The blind man keeps losing: "DEFINITELY WHITE THIS TIME!!" then the wheel lands and the dealer calls, "BLACK 15!!" Another round goes the same way: "TOO BAD!! IT'S BLACK 29!!" A gangster laughs, "DAMN. CAN'T CATCH A BREAK TODAY," while another says, "THIS SURE IS PROFITABLE WHEN BUFFALO-SAN AIN'T AROUND..." The old man refuses to quit: "...NO, IT'S THIS LAST TIME OR BUST!! I'M ALL IN!!" Zoro watches with disgust and says, "HOW AWFUL. THAT GUY IS A DISGRACE TO DONGUIXOTE." The crew realizes the locals are cheating a blind customer in plain sight.

The old blind man stakes everything on one final spin: "WHOEVER WINS THIS ONE TAKES IT ALL!! WE'LL MAKE IT A REAL MAN'S MATCH FOR THE FINALE!!" The gangster laughs, "WELL SAID!! I LIKE YOU, OLD MAN!! AND WE'LL GO ALL IN, AGAINST YOU!!" The bet is set on black, then white, and the ball lands. The result is announced: "WHITE!!" The old man has won. He calmly says, "IT'S WHITE, ISN'T IT." A bystander confirms, "THE OLD MAN WINS!!" and the cheating gangsters panic. One yells, "AHH!? WHO'RE YOU!!" and another complains, "TOOOOOO BAD, OLD MAN... THIS MATCH GOES TO BL-" before being cut off by Luffy's intervention. Luffy shouts, "LOOK HARDER, YOU IDIOT, IT'S BLACK!!" then corrects the lie with equal force: "AND STOP RUNNING YOUR MOUTH OFF!!"

The room turns on Luffy for exposing the cheat. The old man thanks him: "D... DID I REALLY WIN? I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS." Luffy answers casually, "AH, DON'T WORRY ABOUT. I JUST CALLED IT LIKE I SAW IT. YOU'RE LUCKY, HUH!" The gangsters are furious. One snarls, "WHO IS THAT!? DOES HE KNOW WHO HE'S MESSING WITH!?" Another says, "YOU'RE BEING REAL RUDE HERE, BRAT!!" Luffy is unimpressed: "BUT OLD MAN, YOU LOOK PRETTY STRONG..." When one thug threatens, "I'LL BE SENDING THESE PEOPLE DOWN TO HELL, NOW...!!" Luffy simply says, "IT'S NOT LIKE HE CAN SEE ANYWAY, SO WHO CARES!!" and "IF WE SAY IT'S BLACK, IT'S BLACK!!!" The blind man quietly prevents Luffy from interfering further: "I WON'T LET YOU DO THAT!! GET OUT OF THE WAY, NOW, YOUNG MAN."

The blind man reveals a terrifying power without even naming himself. The bystanders cry, "EHH!!? WHAT IS THAT GUY!!! WHAT DID HE DO!!?" and then stare into the enormous hole suddenly punched through the floor. Someone says, "WOW, LOOK AT THAT HOLE." The old man speaks with grim certainty: "...THAT THIS WORLD'S FILTH MAY GO UNSEEN... IS ONE PLEASURE KNOWN TO THE BLIND..." The gangsters are swallowed downward by the force he creates, leaving the restaurant torn open. Luffy and the others can only look on, stunned. The old man they thought was merely being cheated is not helpless at all; he has the strength to bury the criminals in an instant, and the chapter ends with Dressrosa proving again that its charming surface hides dangerous people and unseen powers.
