Old Friends

Lucci, scarred and intense, replies coldly while gripping his face, "ELIMINATING ALL SEVEN VEGAPUNKS." A subordinate protests, "LUCCI! DON'T JUST BLURT IT OUT LIKE THAT! AND I TAKE IT YOU WON'T LET STUSSY OFF THE HOOK, GIVEN HER BETRAYALI" Below, a massive explosion erupts as a towering figure with dark wings and horns roars "KYAAAH!!" while debris flies. An unseen voice shouts, "ARE YOU TRYING TO CONVINCE THEM NOT TO SAVE USI!" Lucci answers flatly, "THAT'S RIGHT. I WON'T SHOW HER ANY MERCY."

The CP0 agent continues, "...I'LL LEAVE THE DECISION IN YOUR HANDS, JUST PLEASE PROTECT THE STELLA AT ALL COSTS!" while tossing cuff keys and shouting, "HEY, HELMET! GIMME THE CUFF KEYS!" Another yells, "HOW'RE WE MEANT TO PROTECT EVERYONE ON TOP OF THE SEVEN VEGAPUNKSI THAT WAS NAMI!! ALL FOUR OF THOSE THINGS MUST BE RUNNING WILD!" Luffy, wearing a large headset, glares forward and declares, "WHEN THOSE FOUR GUYS ARE OUTTA THE WAY... YOU WON'T BE A SORE-LOSER AND GO AFTER MY FRIENDS AND THE VEGAPUNKS, RIGHTI!" Nearby, Chopper clutches a small sphere while Usopp, Sanji, and Zoro react tensely. Sanji snaps, "YOU'RE THE TOP PRIORITY ON MY HIT LIST, YOU STRAW HATTED BASTARD!" as Zoro warns, "I WON'T GO OUT OF ORDER. BUT YOUR FRIENDS WON'T OUTLIVE YOU FOR LONG!" Usopp adds, "HE TOOK THE BAIT!!" while a voice taunts, "YOU IDIOT! THESE GUYS WON'T FALL FOR A TAUNT LIKE THA—"

The massive winged figure begins charging an attack, growling "URSUS..." as chains and cuffs shatter with metallic SFX. A colossal sphere of energy expands violently with the onomatopoeia "FWISH!!" and "SHOCK!!" The central lab structure labeled "VEGA PUNK" is rocked by the blast. In close-up, Lucci glares furiously while Bonney looks shocked. Luffy's eyes widen as he shouts, "GEAR FOURTH!!" and begins inflating his arm, saying "GUM-GUM..." while apologizing, "SORRY ABOUT THIS, BONNEY!!"

Luffy unleashes a devastating barrage: "SIX KING GUN!!" followed by "KONG GUN!!" The massive impact sends the Seraphim-like figure flying amid explosions and debris. In rapid succession, Zoro appears mid-strike yelling "PURGATORY ONIGIRI!!" while Sanji delivers a powerful kick labeled "TEMPEST KICK: WHITE THUNDER!!" The Seraphim is hammered repeatedly with impact SFX "ドゴォォ!!" and "ドン!!" as the Straw Hats press their assault in coordinated fury.

Inside a sealed laboratory, captured World Government agents from CP5, CP7, and CP8 lie exhausted on the floor. One mutters, "IN OVER TWO MONTHS... WE HAVEN'T HAD A DECENT MEAL..." Another groans, "...NEED F-FOO OOD..." A third voice asks, "ARE WE GONNA DIE HERE...I" while another wonders, "I WONDER... IF WE'LL EVER BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE..." A caption identifies them as WORLD GOVERNMENT INTELLIGENCE CP5, CP7, & CP8 AGENTS. In the next panel an agent recalls, "MET THE SAME FATE TOO... THEN ALL THE OTHER AGENTS THAT CAME TO LOOK INTO OUR DISAPPEARANCE... AND WE WERE BROUGHT BACK TO THE ISLAND. THOSE WEAPONIZED SEA BEASTS ATTACKED US... AFTER OUR INSPECTION OF EGGHEAD... TWO MONTHS BACK, WHEN WE WERE MEANT TO SET SAIL..." A stern man with an afro glares and concludes, "SO, I FIGURED... YOU WERE THE ONE BEHIND IT ALL..."

Dr. Vegapunk appears in a dramatic full-page spread, seated on a massive wheeled apparatus, sweat flying as he raises a hand. He says, "SORRY... I'M AFRAID I HAD NO IDEA... TO THINK THIS WAS HAPPENING ON EGGHEAD RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE..." A large speech bubble shouts "DR. VEGAPUNK!!" while another reads "!!!!!" and sound effects show "JANGLE". In smaller panels he continues, "WORD LEAKING TO THE GOVERNMENT... ABOUT OUR RESEARCH INTO THE PONEGLYPHS SHOULDN'T'VE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE... THIS WHOLE AFFAIR HAS BEEN BAFFLING FROM THE START. HOW TROUBLING..." The scene shifts to a fleet of ships sailing through stormy seas toward Egghead. A narrator box states, "THE NAVY HAS SUCCESSFULLY DEPLOYED FROM BRANCH G-9. WE HAVE OVER 100 SHIPS OF ALL SIZES EN ROUTE..." while characters shout "...ALL HEADING FOR EGGHEAD!!"

The scene changes to a bar at a small port on a certain island in the New World. A woman with wavy hair leans on the counter holding a bottle labeled "WHISKY" and teases a small armored creature, "WHY DON'T YOU GIVE IT UPI YOU'LL MAKE ALL THE OTHER CAPTAINS JEALOUS..." The creature replies "HMPH!" and another voice warns, "DON'T BE DUMB! THERE'S NO WAY..." A tiny figure adds, "NO WAY! I REALLY LOOK UP TO THE CHIEF! I'D BRING A HOT-HEADED KID LIKE YOU..." Suddenly the mood shifts as pirates react in panic. One yells, "BOSS!! THAT BASTARD'S ACTUALLY ATTACKING US!!" Another shouts, "I DUNNO WHETHER YOU'D CALL THIS GOOD OR BAD TIMING... WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO SET OFF..." while a third asks, "WHAT D'YA WANNA DOI SEEMS LIKE IT'LL TURN INTO A FULL-ON BATTLE SOON." A large sound effect reads "PUHAAH--" as the crew scrambles.

Shanks appears in close-up, grinning fiercely with a scar over his left eye. He says, "CAN'T BE HELPED WHEN YOU SUDDENLY... COME ACROSS OLD FRIENDS YOU THOUGHT WERE DEAD!" and "...CATCHING UP WITH EVERYONE. GUESS I LOST TRACK OF TIME..." Behind him, Lucky Roux and others react. Shanks continues, "...HE'S THE ONLY ONE THEY'RE MAD AT" and laughs "GYA HA HA HA HA! YOU CAN'T TALK, BECK! D'YA REALLY THINK... THE ENEMY'S GONNA BE PISSED AT YOU FOR KEEPIN' THEM WAITING." A massive sound effect "ドン!!!" erupts as he declares, "LET'S SET SAIL!" The crew cheers, "SO WE'RE REALLY DOING THIS, CHIEFI!" In the lower panels Dorry and Brogy appear; one asks, "HEY, DORRY, BROGY. CAN YOU LEND ME A HANDI" Another replies, "I DON'T WANNA CAUSE ANY MAJOR TROUBLE HERE..." A smiling woman exclaims, "OH!! HE'S SO DREAMY! ♡" while another warns, "I'D NEVER LET THIS ISLAND BECOME A WARZONE. YOU'RE GOING THERE TO FIGHT, SHANKSI!"

A close-up shows a scarred face with intense eyes and gritted teeth as a voice declares, "HE HAS A CHOICE... HE CAN EITHER HAND OVER HIS LODE PONEGLYPH RUBBINGS AND SCRAM......OR HE CAN RISK FIGHTING ME!!" The scene explodes into a massive chaotic panel on Elbaf. Shanks stands calmly in the center with his black coat flowing, surrounded by his rowdy crew. Lucky Roux laughs wildly with mouth wide open, "GE GYA GYA GYA GYA!! LET'S DO IT, RED HAIR!!" Rockstar grins and pumps a fist, "YEAH, TELL HIM..." Another crew member with a spiked helmet roars, "GA BA BA BA! SURE, BROTHER! I DON'T MIND!" Shanks turns slightly and says, "BEFORE THAT, CAN YOU GO CHECK SOMETHING FOR ME, ROCKSTARI" Rockstar replies, "HMI YOU HAVE A MESSAGE FOR CAPTAIN KID...I" A boxed caption at the bottom reads, "THIS ISLAND IS ACTUALLY ELBAF, THE HOME OF THE MOST PRIDEFUL WARRIORS AROUND!" Motion lines, impact effects, and crew members brandishing weapons fill the background.
