THE GREAT CAPTAIN MORGAN

In a close-up, Helmeppo screams through his tears, "I'M CAPTAIN MORGAN'S BELOVED SON!!!" and "I'M TELLING DADDY ON YOU!" Koby continues to pull at Luffy, begging, "LUFFY! PLEASE STOP!" Luffy angrily retorts, "DON'T RUN CRYING TO PAPA! FACE ME LIKE A MAN!" The townsfolk gasp again in fear. Helmeppo turns and runs away crying, shouting threats over his shoulder: "YOU'LL DIE BEGGING FOR MERCY!", "YOU'RE A WALKING CORPSE!", and "FATHER WILL KILL YOU!" Luffy watches him flee and says, "HE'S NOT WORTH HITTING." Koby drops to his knees in despair, muttering, "NOW YOU'VE DONE IT..." Luffy yells after Helmeppo, "YOU BOOGER-FACE!!"

Rika's mother, Ririka, yells from a doorway, "RIKA!! GET OVER HERE!" Rika runs to her, smiling at Luffy, "YOU WERE GREAT, BIG BROTHER! I FEEL A LOT BETTER NOW!" Luffy grins and replies, "THEN I WISH I'D GIVEN HIM A FEW MORE WHACKS FOR YOU!" Ririka pulls Rika inside, saying, "HURRY UP, LET'S GET INSIDE..." and scolding, "YOU SHOULDN'T BE TALKING TO THAT PERSON!" and "IF THEY THINK YOU'RE HIS FRIEND, THEY'LL KILL YOU, TOO!!" Rika protests, "BUT, MOMMY, HE'S A GOOD MAN. AND ZOLO, HE'S A GOOD--" Ririka slams the door shut. Inside, Ririka asks, "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!? YOU DIDN'T GO TO THE PARADE GROUND, DID YOU!?" Rika looks down guiltily, "UM... WELL... NO-O-O..." Outside, Koby is screaming in panic, "AAAAAAAA", and tells Luffy, "THEY WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THIS! AND CAPTAIN MORGAN HAS THE WHOLE NAVY BEHIND HIM!" Luffy casually adjusts his hat and says, "YEAH, WHATEVER. I NEED TO TALK TO ZOLO."

An exterior view shows the Marine base, a large striped fortress with the Marine logo, cannons, and a flag. A text box reads "NAVAL FORTRESS". Inside, a large imposing figure is introduced mostly in silhouette, with the sound "DA-DOOM" emphasizing his presence as he says, "I'M SO......GREAT!!" A Marine officer stands before him, sweating nervously, and agrees, "YES SIR! YOU CERTAINLY ARE, SIR! YOU'RE THE GREAT CAPTAIN MORGAN, SIR!" Morgan asks, "THEN WHY ARE THE TRIBUTES FROM THE PEASANTS... AHEM... TOWNSFOLK......GETTING SMALLER!?" The Marine replies, "YESSIR, REGARDING YOUR TRIBUTES......I BELIEVE THE TOWNSPEOPLE ARE NOW TOO POOR TO RAISE--" Morgan interrupts sharply, "IT'S NOT A QUESTION OF HOW MUCH THEY CAN PAY... IT'S A QUESTION OF THEIR RESPECT FOR ME!"

Helmeppo bursts into the room, crying out, "DADDY!!" Morgan looks annoyed and asks, "WHAT'S WRONG, HELMEPPO? WHY THE COMMOTION?" Helmeppo, tears streaming down his face, demands, "I WANT YOU TO KILL SOMEONE FOR ME!!" The scene cuts to the execution yard, where Luffy approaches Roronoa Zoro, who is still tied to the wooden cross. Zoro looks up and says, "HEY! YOU AGAIN... IF THIS IS ABOUT ME JOINING YOUR PIRATE CREW, MY ANSWER IS STILL NO!" Luffy smiles brightly and says, "CALL ME LUFFY! I'LL UNTIE YOU IF YOU'LL JOIN MY PIRATE CREW, OKAY!?" Zoro glares at him, annoyed, "YOU DON'T LISTEN, BOY!"

Zoro continues, "I'VE GOT MY OWN MISSION......AND IT DOESN'T INVOLVE BECOMING A STINKING PIRATE!" Luffy questions him, "YOU'RE TOO GOOD TO BE A PIRATE? YOU, A BOUNTY HUNTER? WHO EVERYONE THINKS IS SOME SORT OF DEMON?" Zoro smirks confidently, "I DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK. I LIVE BY MY OWN CODE... I'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING I REGRET, AND I DON'T INTEND TO IN THE FUTURE." Luffy stares at him blankly. Zoro finishes, "WHICH IS WHY I'LL NEVER BE A PIRATE!!" Luffy simply says, "I HEARD YOU CAN USE A SWORD!" Zoro replies, "...! HMPH! IF I WASN'T TIED UP, I'D SHOW YOU..." Luffy smiles widely and declares, "SORRY, BUT I'VE MADE UP MY MIND! YOU'RE GONNA JOIN MY CREW!!" Zoro yells back angrily, "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU'VE DECIDED!!"

Luffy asks, "SO WHERE ARE YOUR SWORDS NOW?" Zoro explains, "THEY TOOK 'EM FROM ME. THE CAPTAIN'S IDIOT SON... NEXT TO MY LIFE, THOSE SWORDS ARE MY DEAREST TREASURES." Luffy muses, "TREASURES, HUH? TOO BAD THEY TOOK 'EM..." Then Luffy points at Zoro with a grin, "I KNOW! I'LL GET YOUR SWORDS FROM THE IDIOT SON!!" Zoro is taken aback, "WHAT?" Luffy continues, "THEN, IF YOU WANT YOUR SWORDS BACK... YOU'LL HAVE TO JOIN MY CREW!" Zoro yells, "YOU LITTLE RAT!" Luffy laughs, "HA HA HA". Luffy runs off towards the fortress, waving back, "SEE YA SOON!" Zoro calls out, "HEY! COME BACK!!" Zoro watches him go, thinking, "HE'S GOING INTO THE FORTRESS... THAT'S ONE DUMB PIRATE!"

Back on the roof of the Marine base, Marines are pulling ropes to erect a giant statue of Captain Morgan. "OKAY! STEADY! STAND IT UP!" Helmeppo is crying to Morgan, "FATHER!! WHY AREN'T YOU HUNTING THE BRIGAND WHO HIT ME!!" Morgan yells back, "EVEN YOU NEVER LAID A HAND ON MY LOVELY-YET-MASCULINE FACE BEFORE! DO YOU KNOW WHY I'VE NEVER HIT YOU? I'LL TELL YOU WHY..." Suddenly, Morgan kicks Helmeppo hard, sending him flying with a loud "WHAM". Helmeppo yelps "ARF!!". Morgan shouts, "IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE AN IDIOT SON WHO'S NOT EVEN WORTH HITTING!!"

Morgan stands tall, his massive axe-hand gleaming in the light. A text box introduces him: "NAVAL CAPTAIN 'AXE-HAND' MORGAN". He looks down at his son and says, "WHY SHOULD I FIGHT YOUR BATTLES? YOU'RE BIG ENOUGH TO WIPE YOUR OWN BOTTOM..." Helmeppo is on the ground, crying and holding his bruised face. Morgan continues, "I DON'T MIND IF YOU USE MY STATUS... BUT I ONLY LAY HANDS ON PEOPLE WHO DEFY ME!!!" Morgan glares menacingly, "DON'T FOOL YOURSELF... YOU ARE NOT THE GREAT ONE! I AM GREAT!! I AM THE GREAT ONE."

A Marine officer, Lieutenant Rokkaku, approaches Morgan. Morgan says, "I HEARD A LITTLE MOUSE SNUCK INTO MY PARADE GROUND." The Lieutenant replies, "I DEALT WITH HER. I--" Morgan interrupts, "THE LITTLE GIRL? SO YOU KILLED HER." The Lieutenant is shocked, "WHAT!? NO... I, UH... SHE WAS JUST A LITTLE GIRL AND I..." Morgan points his axe at him, "YOU! FIND HER AND KILL HER!" The Lieutenant protests, sweating, "BUT, CAPTAIN, SHE'S JUST A LITTLE GIRL... I WOULDN'T OBEY SUCH A CRUEL ORDER!" Morgan glares down at him, "OH, WOULDN'T YOU? YOU ARE A LIEUTENANT IN THE NAVY AREN'T YOU? AND I-- A CAPTAIN-- AM YOUR SUPERIOR OFFICER, AM I NOT?" The Lieutenant stammers, "UH... YES SIR..." Morgan declares, "CHILD OR NOT, ANYONE WHO DEFIES ME MUST SUFFER THE PENALTY!"

Morgan yells, "THEN YOU ARE DUTY-BOUND TO OBEY ME!! IF I SAY KILL HER, THEN YOU WILL KILL HER!!" The Lieutenant shouts back defiantly, "I... I WON'T MURDER A LITTLE GIRL!!" Morgan swings his axe-hand down with a massive "FA-SHK!!", striking the Lieutenant across the chest. The Lieutenant screams "AAAAA!!" as he is slashed. Morgan yells, "MUTINY!" The Lieutenant collapses to the ground after the blow. Other Marines gasp in horror. One thinks, "YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO KILL HIM!!" Another yells, "LIEUTENANT!!" Morgan stands over the fallen man, unbothered, "NO MATTER. THE TOWNSFOLK MUST BE TAUGHT RESPECT. I'LL HANDLE IT PERSONALLY!"

Morgan looks up at his statue being erected. "FOR YEARS I LABORED TO ACHIEVE THIS RANK, AND I DID IT BY MY OWN STRENGTH... AT GREAT PERSONAL COST! MY RANK IS THE HIGHEST ON THIS BASE... WHICH MAKES ME SUPERIOR TO EVERYONE ELSE HERE..." He continues, "RANK MEANS EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD, REMEMBER THAT! THAT MEANS EVERYTHING I DO IS RIGHT!!! IS THAT CLEAR?" The Marines salute frantically and yell, "YES SIR!! YOU ARE THE GREATEST, SIR!" The giant statue of Morgan is pulled upright with a loud "BAM". Morgan proudly declares, "THIS IS A MONUMENT TO MY RANK AND POWER!!! IT TOOK YEARS TO BUILD, BUT TODAY IT IS FINALLY COMPLETE. RAISE MY STATUE! PUT IT AT THE HIGHEST POINT OF THIS FORTRESS AS A SYMBOL OF MY GREATNESS!!"

Luffy is wandering around the base courtyard. "THAT'S FUNNY... THERE AREN'T ANY SAILORS AROUND... MAYBE THEY'RE HAVING A MEETING OR SOMETHING..." He looks around, "NO ONE TO HELP ME FIND ZOLO'S SWORDS......OR THE IDIOT SON..." On the roof, Marines are pulling the ropes to secure the statue. "HEAVE!! HEAVE!!" One Marine slips and bumps the statue with an "UNH!". The statue makes a "KLUNK" sound. Morgan notices immediately, "WHAT WAS THAT!? DID YOU JUST BUMP IT!?" The Marine panics, "SORRY, SIR! WE WERE CARELESS, SIR!" Down below, Luffy hears the commotion. "HUH? I THINK I HEAR VOICES UP THERE. I'LL JUST CHECK IT OUT!" He grabs the wall and stretches his arms far back with a "RRCH!!".

Luffy hooks his stretched hands onto the fortress above him and pulls his body taut like a slingshot. He says, "GUM-GUM..." The tension builds with a loud "GWOING" sound effect. He launches himself upwards towards the roof of the fortress, yelling "...ROCKET!!!" He flies rapidly through the air with a "FWUP!". A Marine on the roof looks over the edge, surprised by the incoming figure.

On the roof, Morgan is furious at the Marine who bumped the statue. "SWINE! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE WAITED FOR THIS STATUE TO BE FINISHED!? AND YOU'VE ALREADY SCRATCHED IT!!" The Marine begs, "SORRY, SIR! I'LL PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED!" Morgan raises his axe-hand, "THIS STATUE IS LIKE MY PERSON! SCRATCHING IT IS THE SAME AS ATTACKING ME! LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ALL!" Suddenly, Luffy flies over the edge of the roof, yelling "WHOA! I OVERSHOT!" He flies past the Marines with a "FOOSH!". To stop his momentum, Luffy grabs onto the ropes holding the statue. "GOT IT!" The ropes pull tight with a "BWRRRM". The Marines are shocked. "WHAT'S THAT!?" "IT CAME FROM BELOW!!" Morgan looks confused, "HUH!?"

The force of Luffy grabbing the ropes pulls the giant statue forward. It crashes down onto the roof, breaking into pieces with a massive "KRAKOOM". The Marines dive out of the way to avoid being crushed. Luffy lands safely and looks at the destroyed statue, casually saying, "WOW..." The Marines are in absolute shock, their jaws dropping and eyes bulging in disbelief. Morgan's face is shown in an extreme close-up, his eyes wide with horror and disbelief, sweating profusely as he processes the destruction of his monument. Luffy looks back, realizing what he did, sweating slightly.

Luffy stands near the broken pieces of the statue and casually apologizes, "UM... SORRY." Morgan erupts in absolute fury, his face contorted with rage and veins popping. He screams, "SEIZE HIM! I'LL HAVE HIS HEART!!!" The Marines salute frantically, "YES SIR!! AYE AYE, SIR!!" Helmeppo points at Luffy, terrified, and yells, "DADDY!! THAT'S THE RUFFIAN WHO HIT ME! IF YOU HAD KILLED HIM THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE--"

Luffy grabs Helmeppo and drags him away. Helmeppo screams, "I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!! L-LET ME GO! FATHER! HELP!!" The Marines point and yell, "HE'S ENTERING THE FORTRESS! GET HIM!" Morgan is panting heavily, "HFF HFF". A Marine reports, "CAPTAIN! SOMEONE'S IN THE PARADE GROUND!!" Morgan yells, "WHAT!!? ALL THESE REBELS DEFYING ME! KILL 'EM ALL!" Down in the yard, Koby is untying Zoro's ropes. Zoro asks, "WHAT!? LUFFY WENT INTO THE FORTRESS!?" Koby says, "YEAH, I'VE NOTICED. WHO IS HE ANYWAY? WHY IS HE SO RECKLESS!?" Zoro warns, "HEY! NOW YOU'RE BEING RECKLESS! IF THEY CATCH YOU FREEING ME, THEY'LL KILL YOU!" Koby replies, "THEY IMPRISONED YOU UNFAIRLY! I CAN'T STAND TO SEE THE NAVY ACT IMPROPERLY. I'M GOING TO BECOME A PROPER SAILOR! JUST LIKE LUFFY'S GOING TO BE THE KING OF THE PIRATES!"

Zoro is shocked by Koby's words, "WHAT!? KING OF THE PIRATES!? DOES HE KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!?" Koby smiles, sweating slightly, "HA HA HA... I WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE FIRST TOLD ME, TOO. BUT HE'LL SUCCEED OR DIE TRYING! THAT'S HOW HE IS!" Suddenly, a loud "BOOM" strikes near Koby and knocks him backward. Zoro looks on in shock. In the yard, Luffy is running and dragging Helmeppo by the collar. Off-screen Marines yell, "THERE HE IS! GET HIM!" Luffy demands, "WHERE ARE ZOLO'S SWORDS!?" Helmeppo cries out, "I-I'LL TELL YOU! JUST STOP DRAGGING ME!" A close-up shows Zoro looking intensely angry at the Marines attacking Koby.
