DEVIL'S FRUIT

Buggy the clown pirate lunges forward in mid-air with arms outstretched, his body stretched unnaturally as he dives toward Luffy in the street. Luffy is knocked backward by the impact. Buggy lands hard with a loud "AHCK!!" and a dramatic "PLIP!" sound as his body compresses. Luffy stands up grinning widely, clenching his fist with intense focus while Buggy lies stunned on the ground with swirling eyes and a dazed expression.

Luffy and Buggy argue heatedly on the ground. Luffy yells, "PUUHT! PUUHEHT!! THAT'S DIRTY, STOP IT!" while Buggy retorts, "YOU EVEN SPAT ON IT!! IT'S YOUR OWN SALIVA!!" Buggy continues, "UGGHH! KEHK... KEHK!! DAMMIT, HOW DARE YOU TREAT MY TREASURE LIKE THAT!!" Luffy grabs Buggy by the head and stretches his arm, shouting, "DON'T YOU DARE REPEAT THOSE WORDS EVER AGAIN!!" Buggy screams, "AIYAY-AYAY-AH!!" Luffy declares, "SHANKS BEING YOUR COMRADE..." Buggy replies while being stretched, "BA...RA... BA...RA... TAKE THIS!! IT'S MY OWN CHOICE HOW I CAN SPEAK OF HIM!!" Luffy finishes, "HUH... EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT SORT OF RELATIONSHIP YOU HAD WITH SHANKS!!" SFX: STRETCH...!!!

Buggy's body is violently chopped apart mid-air with a massive impact SFX: CHOP! as Luffy strikes him. Buggy yells, "HEI-KAHCK!!!" while shouting "STAY STILL...!!" Two of Buggy's crew members lie on the ground discussing the fight. One says, "... MOST LIKELY." Another replies, "DO YOU THINK CAPTAIN BUGGY WILL ACTUALLY LOSEI CAPTAIN'S REAL SKILLS WILL START NOW!" A third adds, "D...DON'T SAY SUCH STUPID THINGS! ISN'T OUR CAPTAIN... KINDA LOSING...I!" and "...... HEY..." Nami appears in the foreground, thinking to herself, "I'VE GOT TO QUICKLY STEAL THE WAREHOUSE TREASURE AND RUN AWAY!" She reacts with surprise, "はっI!" and says, "AIYAYAH... I WAS SO FASCINATED, I KEPT ON WATCHING" while glancing at the ongoing battle.

In the village, concerned residents gather near the shelter. An elderly man exclaims, "IT'S BEEN SO LONG AND THE CHIEF STILL HASN'T RETURNED!" A man with glasses replies, "IT'S TOO STRANGE!!" while Japanese SFX "どよ どよ" punctuate the tension. A sign reads "THE VILLAGERS' SHELTER PLACE." Elsewhere, a bald man with a thick mustache listens as a woman notes, "YEAH... AND WE'VE ALSO HEARD A COUPLE OF CANNON NOISES..." and "SOMETHING'S DEFINITELY HAPPENED IN THE VILLAGE..." The bald man growls, "MAKING THE TOWNSPEOPLE WORRY... THAT MAN..." He then declares, "I'M GOING TO GO CHECK OUT THE VILLAGE AND RETURN SHORTLY. YOU ALL WAIT HERE!" with SFX "ず" and "い" as a child watches worriedly.

The bald man snaps, "BUGGY'S CREW IS KNOWN FOR BEING LOW AND DIRTY!! FOOL! THE ONES AT THE VILLAGE ARE PIRATES!" A young man with a staff offers, "I'LL GO TOO." The bald man is warned, "YOU MUSTN'T GO ALONE!" He retorts, "IF WE CAN'T PROTECT OUR OWN CHIEF, HOW COULD ANYONE CALL US VILLAGERS!" The group rallies with cries of "THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO GO!" and "LET'S GO!" "DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!!" "YEAH! YEAH!" A villager adds, "SINCE IT'S A VOLUNTARY ACTION WE'RE ALL TAKING! IT'S USELESS TO TRY AND STOP US..." SFX "哮哮...!!" echo as the armed villagers march forward.

Buggy rants furiously from his cannon-like vehicle: "THERE WAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS MADE ME MADDER THAN HE DID!! THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE LIFE, EVEN UNTIL TODAY, THAT BASTARD, HE... HE TOOK A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TREASURE FROM ME!!!" His face twists in rage. In the background, Luffy stands watching. Nearby, Buggy's crew cheers, "HAHAHA! FIGHT, FIGHT!! DON'T LOSE TO EACH OTHER!!" while a crewman notes, "OOOH, THEY'RE FIGHTING AGAIN!" Luffy thinks, "I CAN'T FORGIVE HIM!!" with a sweat drop and exclamation mark as chaos unfolds near the docks.

Luffy and Buggy argue nose-to-nose: Luffy yells, "NO, IT'S THE SOUTH POLE!!" Buggy shouts back, "IT'S THE NORTH POLE!!" The crew reacts in shock. Luffy and Buggy tumble into a brawl with SFX "ガン!" "ボカ!" "ボカ!" "ボカ!" and cries of "Ouch!" "EEK!" "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!" "OF COURSE! I'M TELLING YOU I'M RIGHT!!" "YOU'RE STILL INSISTING ON THAT, MORON!" A crew member laughs "HA! HA! HA! HA!" while another groans. An elderly woman points and scolds, "IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SO BADLY, GO TO BOTH PLACES AND CHECK FOR YOURSELF!! IDIOTS... I CAN'T SEE WHY WHETHER THE NORTH POLE OR THE SOUTH POLE IS COLDER HAS TO DO WITH YOU!!" SFX "ドン! ドン!" and "ボカ! ボカ! ボカ!" fill the chaotic scene.

On the deck of a pirate ship, the crew spots a vessel approaching from the northwest. "A VESSEL IS COMING FROM THE NORTH WEST!!" one shouts. "OKAY!! ATTACK!!" another yells as swords are raised. "LET'S START THE ACTION!!!" Buggy, the clown-nosed captain with knives drawn, grins widely. "A VESSEL'S THE SAME AS A TREASURE BOX!! THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO A PIRATE IS HIS LOOT!!" The young man in the striped shirt and hat replies, "LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE EXCITED, BUGGY." Buggy retorts, "DON'T TREAT TREASURE SERIOUSLY ENOUGH!!" The young man counters, "TOO NICE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. YOU AND THIS SHIP'S PIRATES..." Buggy snaps back, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A PIRATE REALLY IS!!" The young man smiles, "WELL, THAT'S ONE THING..." and adds, "IT'S NOT JUST ONE THING... IT'S EVERYTHING!!" as a "ZING!" sound effect rings out.

Chaos erupts as the crew clashes with the enemy ship. Swords swing wildly amid cries of "UGGH!!", "EEEEEA CK!", "HE-YAH!", and "OOO OHT!" with heavy SFX: "WAAAAAAAAAAH...." and "CLASH CLASH!" Buggy stands amid the fray, knives ready, when he notices something on the deck. "THIS...!!" he exclaims, staring at a torn parchment. The map unfurls dramatically with a large "ばん!!" SFX. "I WAS REALLY SHOCKED.....!" a voice states. "TREASURE MAP....!!!" another cries. "T...T-T-T...T...!" Buggy stammers as the map reveals a vast sea-bed marked with an X. "IT WAS A MAP THAT HAD A HUGE AMOUNT OF TREASURE LYING ON THE SEA-BED MARKED ON IT" reads the caption. "FIRST TIME SEEING ONE!!"

Buggy erupts in joy, arms raised with a massive "どーん" SFX. "MY LIFE'S WORRIES WILL END AND HAPPINESS WILL COME!!" he shouts. "YAHOO!! FROM NOW ON....!" Nearby, he clutches the map, laughing "KUIHAHAHA WHO WOULDN'T KEEP THIS TO THEMSELVES" and "SAA". The crew celebrates aboard the ship at sunset. "DRINK, DRINK TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT, RAISE YOUR VOICES AND SING!!" one declares. "TODAY WE HAVE ANOTHER DELIGHTFUL VICTORY!!" another cheers amid "HAHAHA-HAHAHA!" and SFX "HAHAHAHA..." "SLAM". The young man in the hat questions, "WHATCHA TALKING ABOUTI" Buggy replies, "I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!" while another crewman stammers, "W... W... WHADDYA MEAN TREASURE... I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL!!" Buggy turns, "OI BUGGY... LET'S CELEBRATE TOGETHER! WE FOUND A WEIRD TREASURE, TOO." with a "がチャー!" sound.

Buggy and the young man in the hat converse on deck. Buggy says, "OF COURSE WE WILL..." while gripping the railing. The young man replies, "WE TOO ONE DAY, WILL GET OFF THIS SHIP." Buggy continues, "AS A PIRATE, OF COURSE." The young man smiles, "IF I GET TO HAVE MY OWN SHIP I'M PLANNING TO GO AROUND AND SEE THE WORLD." Buggy leans in with a fierce grin, "IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOUR CRAZY WAY OF THINKING I WOULDN'T MIND TAKING YOU IN AS MY CREW MEMBER..." The young man answers, "I CAN UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT YOUR FIGHTING SKILLS." Buggy reacts with "OH YEAH!I" and the young man quips, "HEHEHNG!! TALKING ABSOLUTE NONSENSE AS USUAL" as a small "ピキッ" SFX appears near Buggy's head.

On the deck of a pirate ship, Shanks leans back in his chair with his straw hat tilted, speaking to Buggy. "BECAUSE WE THINK SO DIFFERENTLY WE JUST NEED TO TRAVEL THE PATH THAT EACH THINKS BEST. THAT'S WHAT A PIRATE LIFE IS LIKE!!" Buggy, wearing his black bandana with jagged teeth pattern and clown nose, laughs loudly. "YOUR FOLLOWER!I LIKE I WANT TO BE!!" Buggy continues, "BUT IF THAT HAPPENS... THEN WHEN WE MEET EACH OTHER AT SEA AGAIN... WE'LL MEET AS ENEMIES! HAHA-HAHA!! IT'S FUNNY TO HEAR ANOTHER THINGS ABOUT PIRATES FROM YOUR MOUTH..." Shanks and a background crew member react as the conversation shifts. Shanks muses, "HMM... YES, WE'VE GOT THIS 'DEVIL'S FRUIT'. HEY, DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY SOMETHING ABOUT SOME WEIRD TREASUREI" Buggy leans in sharply, "...WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT...I" Shanks replies casually, "THAT'S JUST ANOTHER PART OF A PIRATE'S LIFE. YEP."

Buggy reacts with shock in the background while Shanks smiles and points forward. "IF YOU EAT IT YOU'LL GAIN A SPECIAL ABILITY, BUT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SWIM. I ONCE HEARD THAT THE DEVIL'S FRUITS ARE ALL THE SEA-DEVIL'S INCARNATIONS." A crewmate warns Buggy, "KUHAHAHAHA! DON'T WANNA EAT THAT SORTA THING AND END UP UNABLE TO SWIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE... THE CAPTAIN SAID THAT WHOEVER WANTS TO EAT IT CAN HAVE IT..." Buggy flips his chair dramatically, declaring, "IF THERE'S A TREASURE LYING ON THE SEABED AND YOU CAN'T SWIM, THEN YOU CAN'T GO AND GET IT! HUEH... SCARY... ANYONE WHO EATS THAT SORT OF THINGS IS NO DOUBT A REAL IDIOT." Buggy then erupts in rage, "IF IT'S ONE HUNDRED MILLION BELI THEN IT'S MORE THAN THE SELLING PRICE OF 10 A-RANKED TREASURE BOXES!! THE TREASURE GODDESS MUST BE SMILING DOWN AT ME RIGHT NOW!! WHATI IS THAT TRUE!!" Shanks looks surprised, "TURNS OUT IT SELLS FOR AROUND 100 MILLION BELI IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT. BUT THAT ODD FRUIT..."

In a dramatic flashback panel, young Buggy stands triumphantly on the ship's deck holding up a spiky Devil's Fruit. "HE WILL EAT THE DEVIL'S FRUIT!!! PIRATE TRAINEE BUGGY....!" The crew cheers wildly as Buggy swallows it whole. "OOHT... HE ATE IIIT...!!! GOOD GOING BUGGY. I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR YOU NOW!! HAHAHAH... BEING YOUNG IS A WONDERFUL THING, SINCE YOU CAN BE SO CAREFREE." SFX: GULP!! SFX: SILENCE... Later, Buggy grins slyly while explaining, "KEKEKEKEKE!! YOU'VE GOT IT EXACTLY RIGHT!! WHAT I JUST ATE WAS A FAKE FRUIT I SPENT ALL NIGHT WOKING ON AND SWITCHING. WELL THE STORY OF THE DEVIL'S FRUIT WAS A RUMORED STORY FROM THE START. WHAT!I WAS IT A FAKEI SO HOW IS IT BUGGYI FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOUR BODYI NO... NOT REALLY..."

Buggy laughs maniacally while holding the Devil's Fruit and a rolled map. "WITH THE MONEY FROM SELLING THE FRUIT AND THE TREASURE FROM THE MAP, I COULD FORM THE BEST PIRATE CREW IN THE WORLD AND STEAL THE MOST VALU- EVERYTHING TURNED OUT AS PLANNED!! I DON'T NEED TO BE A PIRATE TRAINEE ANYMORE. I BETTER GET OFF THIS SHIP BEFORE ANYONE FINDS OUT. HAHAHAHA!!" Crewmates spot him and react in shock. "YOUR FACE SURE IS A SIGHT. W...WHAT THE, SO IT WAS THIS IDIOT. SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH. SHOCKED!! YO BUGGY, WHATCHA DOING HEREI HIDE HIDE." Buggy panics and hides as the captain's presence is felt. "OH YEAH! IF I THINK ABOUT IT THE CAPTAIN JUST... THE COOK WILL GET MAD! DON'T STEAL TOO MUCH FOOD. PHEW... THE DANGER HAS PASSED..." SFX: SHOCKED!!! SFX: GULP!!

Buggy's face twists in horror as his body begins to split apart uncontrollably, eyes bulging and mouth stretched wide while he screams "あああああああ" and "あああああああ". SFX: AAAAAAAAAA.... In a small inset, Luffy sits calmly on a crate watching the chaos. Buggy clutches at his face, yelling "AAAAAH- HHHH, MY MAP!!!" as the torn map flutters nearby. Close-up on Buggy's disfigured features, he stammers "I... AA... AAAAHH!!" while Luffy glares and retorts "YOU... YOU... YOU BASTARD, I... I...!". Buggy's limbs flail as he cries "WHAT THE... MY BODY CAN'T MOVE PROPERLY..." with motion lines and "ゴボ...!!". The final panel shows an explosion of debris and Buggy's severed hand reaching out as Luffy shouts "HEY!! BUGGYI!" with the massive SFX "ドッボーン!!".

On a ship deck, crew members react in shock: "EEEHI WHAT'S THAT GUY DOINGI" "WHAT THEI WHAT'S GOING ON, SHANKSI" "HEY, MAN. WHATCHA DOINGI! SWIMMING'S YOUR SPECIALTY!". Buggy thrashes in the water, half-submerged and terrified, screaming "HE... HELP...!!! GULP... GULP...!!!" and "SOME ONE SAVE ME...!!!" with heavy SFX. In a large close-up, a young Buggy with an eyepatch explains to Shanks "SO I... ATE A ONE HUNDRED MILLION BELI WORTH FRUIT... AND BECAME UNABLE TO SWIM!! AND I ALSO MISSED THE TREASURE LYING ON THE SEABED!!" while Shanks reaches out, saying "LOOK, SHANKS!!" and "I'LL SAVE YOU...". The scene shifts to town as Buggy points angrily at Shanks, declaring "BECAUSE OF THAT IDIOT MY FUTURE LIFE PLANS WERE POST-PONED FOR TEN YEARS!!!" and "I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT PART!!!". Shanks smiles and replies "OH... SO SHANKS SAVED YOUR LIFE".

Buggy's coat and body pieces fly through the air attached to strings as he declares "WITH THIS DEVIL'S FRUIT POWER!!" and "SO THAT'S WHY I PROMISED MYSELF!! IF I CAN'T GET ANYTHING UNDER THE SEA THEN I'D SETTLE FOR EVERY TREASURE ABOVE IT!!!". A large panel shows Buggy's floating upper body looming over a town while he warns "WHOEVER THAT IS I NEVER...!" and "BECAUSE OF THAT WHO EVER TOUCHES MY TREASURE...". In the street, a short-haired girl holding a slingshot reacts with "EHI". Buggy's face erupts forward with a fierce "ゴォ" SFX, roaring "LEAVE THEM ALIVE!!!". Luffy stands nearby with a surprised expression, sweat drop visible, and says "AA...".
