Friends

The scene opens with Captain Morgan lying unconscious on the dirt, his axe-hand resting limply beside him. A Marine in the background shouts, "THE CAPTAIN LOST!!!" while another yells, "CAPTAIN MORGAN'S BEEN DEFEATED!!!" Zoro stands victorious over Morgan's fallen body, holding his sword. With a sharp "CHEEN" sound, he sheathes his blade. A dramatic "TA-DA" sound effect hangs in the air. Luffy stands a short distance away, watching. The surrounding Marines stare in stunned silence, a collective "...?" hovering over them. Zoro glances back over his shoulder at the gathered Marines, his expression serious, and asks, "ANY OF YOU STILL WANT TO CAPTURE US!?"

Instead of attacking, the Marines erupt into joyous celebration. They throw their swords and rifles into the air, cheering wildly with a massive "YEAAAAAAHH!!" They shout, "HOORAY!!" "WE'RE FREE!!" "MORGAN'S REIGN OF TERROR IS OVER!!" and "BANZAI FOR THE NAVY!!" Koby watches them, tears welling in his eyes as he clenches his fists, realizing, "THAT MEANS......CAPTAIN MORGAN WAS RULING BY FEAR!!" Luffy stands beside him, hands on his hips, smiling as he observes, "THEY'RE HAPPY WE DEFEATED THEIR CAPTAIN." He adds a small "HMPH!" Suddenly, with a loud "FWUMP!!", Zoro collapses backward onto the ground, completely exhausted. Luffy turns in shock, yelling, "ZOLO!?" while Koby also cries out, "ZOLO!!"

The scene shifts indoors to a dining room. Zoro sits at a table, leaning back and patting his visibly full stomach with a satisfied "PHEW!" He exclaims, "UMPH! I'M STUFFED!! NOT EATING FOR NINE DAYS WAS WORSE THAN I THOUGHT!!!" Nearby, Koby and the little girl, Rika, stare at him in awe with a "STARE STARE" effect. Luffy sits across from Zoro, happily stuffing his face with food ("MNCH MNCH") while laughing "HAHA HA!" Luffy tells Zoro, "SEE, YOU'D NEVER HAVE SURVIVED THE WHOLE MONTH!" Zoro retorts, "FUNNY... YOU SEEM EVEN HUNGRIER THAN ME!" Koby politely tells Rika's mother, Ririka, who is bringing more plates, "IT'S KIND OF YOU TO FEED ME ALONG WITH THE HEROES, MA'AM!" Ririka smiles warmly, "IT'S THE LEAST I CAN DO! YOU THREE SAVED THE WHOLE TOWN!!" Rika looks at Luffy with sparkling eyes ("TWINKLE") and says, "WOW, YOU'RE GREAT!" Luffy grins broadly, holding a fork and a mug, "YEAH, I'M KINDA GREAT! AND I'M GOING TO BECOME A LOT GREATER!" Zoro looks over at Luffy and asks, "SO... WHAT'S NEXT?"

Luffy gives a massive, confident grin and declares, "WE'RE HEADED FOR THE GRAND LINE!" A shocked "!!!?" reaction bubble appears. Koby completely loses his composure, his eyes bugging out and sweat pouring down his face as he screams, "HUH!? THAT'S SUICIDE!!!" He leans in frantically, "THERE ARE ONLY TWO OF YOU! IF YOU GO THERE, YOU'LL JUST BE SAILING TO YOUR DEATHS! THE MOST BLOODTHIRSTY PIRATES IN THE WORLD ARE THERE!!!" Luffy just stares at him blankly. Zoro, looking calm and collected, remarks, "WELL, I GUESS IF WE'RE AFTER THE 'ONE PIECE'......THE GRAND LINE IS WHERE WE HAVE TO GO." Koby turns his shock toward Zoro, yelling, "ZOLO!? YOU AGREE WITH HIM!?" Zoro side-eyes Koby and replies bluntly, "WHAT'S IT TO YOU? YOU'RE NOT COMING WITH US."

Koby slams his hands down on the table with a loud "BAM SLAM", startling Luffy with a "!". Koby yells, "NO, BUT I'M WORRIED ABOUT YOU! IS THAT SO WRONG!? CAN'T I WORRY ABOUT... MY FRIENDS?" He immediately looks down, flustered, "THAT'S NOT WHAT I--" He continues softly, "LUFFY, WE HAVEN'T KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR VERY LONG, BUT......WE'RE FRIENDS, AREN'T WE?" Luffy gives him a wide, genuine smile and answers, "WE'RE GOING OUR SEPARATE WAYS......BUT WE'LL ALWAYS BE FRIENDS!!" Koby smiles back, tears streaming down his face behind his glasses. "YOU'RE THE FIRST REAL FRIEND I'VE EVER HAD... NO ONE ELSE EVER STUCK UP FOR ME!" In the background, Ririka and Rika watch them fondly. Zoro watches Luffy, who has already gone back to eating, and mutters, "EVEN I WOULDN'T STICK UP FOR ME!"

Top panel: Koby speaks passionately, tears welling up behind his glasses. "YOU TAUGHT ME TO FIGHT FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IN!!!" "BUT THE TWO OF YOU..." Middle panels: Koby waves his hands frantically, trying to reason with them. "I'M TRYING TO CONVINCE YOU THAT IT'S TOO RECKLESS!!" Zoro, resting his chin on his hand, calmly replies, "MAKES SENSE TO ME." Luffy, grinning widely, declares, "THAT'S WHY I'M GOING TO THE GRAND LINE!" Koby is taken aback, "WAIT! THAT'S NOT WHAT I--" Bottom panels: Zoro turns his attention to Koby, warning him, "WATCH OUT FOR THE NAVY'S INTELLIGENCE." "IF THEY FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND, THEY WON'T LET YOU ENLIST." He continues, "YOU WERE CABIN BOY ON ALVIDA'S PIRATE SHIP FOR TWO YEARS." Koby looks surprised, uttering a small "HUH?" Zoro asks, "WHAT ABOUT YOUR PLANS?" Koby looks nervous, sweating slightly, as a larger "HUH?" bubble appears next to him.

Top panel: The door to the restaurant opens with a loud "KREEK!!". A Marine Commander stands in the doorway with other Marines visible behind him. He says, "EXCUSE ME..." Luffy, Koby, Zoro, and the little girl Rika all turn to look at the newcomers. A small exclamation mark bubble appears near Luffy. Middle panels: Luffy points to himself with a confident grin, stating, "WHICH MAKES ME A GENUINE PIRATE CAPTAIN!" "THAT'S RIGHT. I EVEN HAVE A CREWMAN NOW!" The Marine Commander stands with his head bowed, acknowledging them. "...CORRECT?" "YOU GENTLEMEN ARE PIRATES..." Bottom panels: The Marine Commander continues, adjusting his cap. "UM... YOU SAVED OUR BASE AND THIS TOWN..." "...AND WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL TO YOU." He then adds firmly, "HOWEVER. WE'RE STILL NAVAL MARINES..." "...AND WE CAN'T SHELTER PIRATES."

Top panels: Outside the restaurant, the townspeople are visibly angry at the Marines. They yell, "NAVY PIGS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" "YOU HATED MORGAN AS MUCH AS WE DID!!!" "THEY'RE YOUR SAVIORS, TOO!" with "GRR GRR" sound effects indicating their frustration. Inside, the Marine Commander remains resolute. "BUT TO SHOW OUR GRATITUDE, WE WON'T REPORT YOU TO THE NAVY." "I'M SORRY, BUT I HAVE TO ASK YOU TO LEAVE." Middle panel: Luffy stands up from the table, adjusting his straw hat. "I GUESS WE'LL BE GOING, THEN..." "MA'AM, THANKS FOR THE MEAL..." Koby looks up at him, surprised. "LUFFY..." "YOU'RE LEAVING ALREADY?" Zoro is also seen standing up in the background. Bottom panel: Luffy and Zoro begin to walk away with a "WSH" sound effect. Koby watches them go, a look of shock on his face, accompanied by exclamation mark bubbles.

Top panels: The Marine Commander looks down at Koby and asks, "AREN'T YOU GOING WITH THEM?" Koby stammers, "HUH?" "I'M..." Luffy, standing near the doorway, looks back over his shoulder and says, "I'M..." Middle panels: Luffy suddenly shouts, "I'M NOT ONE OF THEM!!!" Koby looks absolutely terrified, sweating profusely and gritting his teeth. "I..." Luffy then flashes a wide, cheerful smile. "WE'RE GOING OUR SEPARATE WAYS, BUT WE'LL ALWAYS BE FRIENDS!" Bottom panels: The Marine Commander narrows his eyes suspiciously. "EXCUSE ME, PIRATES?" Luffy smirks confidently, a small "...!" bubble next to him.

Top panels: The Marine Commander asks Koby, "IS THAT TRUE?" Koby stands silently, looking down. Luffy stands in the doorway, observing with a neutral expression and a "..." bubble. Middle panels: Luffy points directly at Koby and announces, "LET ME EXPLAIN." "I KNOW ALL ABOUT HIS PAST..." Koby gasps in horror, "LUFFY!? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO..." Bottom panels: Luffy begins to recount the story, gesturing expansively. "SEE, THERE WAS THIS SECRET ISLAND..." "AND A BIG PIRATE WOMAN..." "...HER NAME WAS ALVIDA..." Koby is in a full-blown panic, his eyes wide behind his glasses as he sweats bullets. He thinks to himself, "IF THEY FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND, THEY WON'T LET YOU ENLIST..." and pleads, "LUFFY, DON'T..."

Top panels: The Marine Commander listens intently, a "..." bubble beside him. Luffy continues his story, pointing at Koby. "SHE WAS REALLY MEAN..." "AND FOR TWO YEARS, THIS GUY..." Koby, desperate to stop him, screams, "LUFFY!! DON'T!!" Bottom panel: In a sudden, dramatic action, Koby lunges forward and punches Luffy squarely in the face with a loud "WHAK" sound effect. Luffy's head snaps back from the impact, his straw hat flying off his head. Koby yells at the top of his lungs, "SHUT UP!!!" A shocked "!!?" reaction bubble appears near Luffy's feet.

Top panel: Luffy looks back over his shoulder with a slight smile. The Marine Commander, Ripper, looks shocked, a "...!!" bubble beside him. In the background, Ririka and Rika watch nervously. Middle panel: Zoro observes calmly with a "..." bubble. Koby is panting heavily, "HUF HUF", sweat pouring down his face as he glares angrily, clenching his fists. A "...!!!" bubble appears next to him. Bottom panel: Koby yells, "WHY, YOU--!!" and lunges forward. Luffy meets him with a swift punch to the face, accompanied by a large "WHAM" sound effect. The impact knocks Koby's glasses askew.

Top right panel: Luffy continues to pummel Koby with a flurry of punches, "FWAK THWAK" and "BAM" sound effects surrounding them. Luffy shouts, "AND THIS!!" and "TAKE THAT!". The Marine Commander reacts with a shocked exclamation mark bubble and yells, "ENOUGH!" Top left panel: The Marine Commander shouts angrily, "STOP DISTURBING THE PEACE!!" Middle panel: Koby lies beaten and panting on the floor. Zoro steps in, grabbing Luffy by the back of his shirt with a "RSSK" sound and pulling him away. Zoro says, "THAT'S ENOUGH." Luffy protests mildly, "HEY, HEY..." Bottom panel: The Marine Commander points sternly at Luffy and Zoro, declaring, "IT'S CLEAR THAT YOU'RE NOT FRIENDS!!!" "PLEASE, LEAVE TOWN! NOW!!!"

Top panel: As Luffy and Zoro walk away outside, Koby remains on the floor inside, looking up in sudden realization. He thinks, "WAS THAT HIS PLAN!?" "DID HE GOAD ME INTO HITTING HIM!?" Middle panel: Luffy and Zoro walk down the street, carrying their gear. Townspeople watch them from the sides. Luffy wears a wide grin. Koby's thoughts continue, "HE DID IT AGAIN!! IN THE END..." "...I STILL DEPEND ON HIS HELP!!!" Bottom panel: A close-up of Koby's face shows him sweating and gritting his teeth in frustration. He thinks, "WHAT AM I..." "HELPLESS!?" "IF I DON'T DEPEND ON MYSELF FROM NOW ON, THEN I AM A LOSER!!!"

Top panel: Koby bows deeply before the Marine Commander, shouting desperately, "PLEASE LET ME JOIN THE NAVY, SIR!!!" "I'LL BE A CABIN BOY, OR ANYTHING, BUT JUST LET ME JOIN!!!" Luffy, smiling, replies, "IT'S ALL UP TO KOBY, NOW. HE'LL GET IN SOMEHOW!" Middle panel: Zoro stands on the dock while Luffy is in the boat, untying a rope. Zoro says, "WELL, IT'S A GOOD TIME TO BE LEAVING..." "EVERYBODY HATES US... THAT'S THE WAY PIRATES SHOULD LEAVE A TOWN..." Luffy laughs, "HAHAHA. I GUESS THAT'S TRUE!" Top panel: Koby stands at attention, tears streaming down his face as he delivers a crisp salute with a loud "FWIP!" sound effect. He yells at the top of his lungs, "THANK YOU VERY MUCH, CAP'N LUFFY! I'LL NEVER FORGET ALL YOU DID FOR ME!!!" Middle panels: Luffy, standing in the small boat, throws his head back in a wide, joyous laugh, "HAHA HA!" He calls back to his friend, "WE'LL MEET AGAIN, KOBY!!" In the boat beside him, Zoro holds his swords and looks back at the shore with a smirk, remarking, "THIS IS A NEW ONE. A PIRATE BEING SALUTED BY THE NAVY!" Bottom panel: The Marine Commander, Ripper, suddenly shouts, "'TEN-SHUN!" With a synchronized "FWIP!!", the Commander and all the Marines lined up behind Koby snap into a crisp salute directed at the departing pirates. Koby turns his head in surprise, uttering a confused "HUH!?"

Top panel: Luffy and Zoro sail away in their small boat. Luffy stands in the boat, waving his arms enthusiastically. On the distant shore, the townspeople and Marines wave back, cheering loudly with a massive "HOORAY!!" Middle panels: The Marine Commander looks down at Koby and says, "YOU'VE GOT SOME GOOD FRIENDS, SAILOR." Koby, still holding his salute, replies earnestly, "YES, SIR." The Commander then lowers his hand with a "FWIP!" and addresses his men, "NOW, IT'S AGAINST REGULATIONS TO SALUTE PIRATES LIKE WE JUST DID." He declares, "AS PUNISHMENT, WE WON'T GET ANY DINNER FOR ONE WEEK!" The Marines enthusiastically respond, "YES, SIR!" Bottom panel: In the boat, Luffy sits at the bow with his arms thrown wide in excitement, shouting, "WE'RE ON OUR WAY! TO THE GRAND LINE!!!" Zoro sits relaxed behind him, resting his head on his hand with a confident smile. A narration box reads: "LUFFY AND HIS FIRST CREWMAN (THE FORMER, INFAMOUS, DEMONIC PIRATE HUNTER ZOLO) SET SAIL..." A second narration box adds an ominous note: "...NEITHER OF THEM REALIZING THAT THEY'VE MADE ONE SERIOUS MISTAKE..."

A full-page illustration features the large heading "The Great Age of Piracy". Below the title, a detailed drawing shows a pirate map spread out on a surface. A dagger is stabbed directly into the center of the map, marking a spot with an "X". A flintlock pistol, scattered gold coins, and a compass rest on the map. In the shadowy background, the silhouettes of several menacing pirates are visible, including one with a skull-and-crossbones hat and another with a wide-brimmed hat. A narration box at the bottom sets the scene: "It was an age burning with the magnificence of those searching for the treasure of treasures: "One Piece," hidden by Gold Roger, history's only "King of the Pirates." It was an age when pirates beyond number raised their flags to battle for fame and fortune." A final, smaller box concludes: "It was a Golden Age..."
