Chapter 693, "DIE FOR ME," opens in the sky above Punk Hazard, where Baby 5 and Buffalo ride together in tense silence after spotting the strange figure on the tanker. In the "CONNECTING PASSAGE BETWEEN B AND R-BLOCKS," Chopper's group races the closing gate. Usopp's voice urges them, "HURRY UP, CHOPPER AND BROOK!! JUST 50 METERS MORE!! Chopper's group makes it through the closing gate at the last instant. They tumble into R-Block with the massive carried Mocha, shouting, "DOWAH HHHHH HH!!" and someone gasps, "WE MADE IT!!" A runner adds, "ALTHOUGH WE WERE THE ONES RUNNING!!" Luffy immediately takes command of the next step: "WE'RE ALL HERE THEN? NOW LET'S GET ON THIS THING!!" and "THIS WHOLE PLACE IS FALLING APART!!" The crowd below cheers and panics at once: "UOOHH HHHHHH HHH!!" Luffy shouts down, "HURRY!!! WE'RE GETTING OUT OF HERE, YOU GUYS!!" while others yell, "GET ON THE RAIL CAR!!" The chapter briefly becomes a full escape scene, with children, Marines, pirates, and former enemies all converging on the same vehicle because the island has run out of safe ground.

The call turns the escape tension into a new threat: Doflamingo still has a plan inside the ruins.

Doflamingo gives Monet the order that explains the chapter title. Inside the rail car, the survivors scream "UWAHH HHHHH HHHHH" and "KYAH HHHHH HHH!!" while his voice says, "BUT IN ORDER TO BE ABSOLUTELY SAFE I NEED TO ELIMINATE THOSE BRATS." He reminds Monet of the island's hidden weapon: "IN LAB 3, THERE EXISTS THE SAME WEAPON THAT WAS IN LABS 1 AND 2, WHICH WIPED OUT THE ISLAND FOUR YEARS AGO." If Caesar is the only survivor, he says, it would make the story clean: "WOULD MAKE CAESAR, WHO CAN WITHSTAND POISON GAS, THE ONLY SURVIVOR..." Monet understands: "THE SWITCH IS IN..." and Doflamingo says, "SAY NO MORE, JOKER." She smiles faintly and admits, "I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT HAPPEN, FROM THE VERY START."
