CAPTAIN USOPP ENTERS

A pirate ship with a skull-and-crossbones flag sails across the open sea. Nami appears in close-up with a determined expression, declaring, "WE NEED TO PLAN THINGS MORE!" SFX: DO--N. On the deck of the Going Merry, Nami argues with Luffy. She insists, "I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE FOOD SUPPLIES!" and "WE DON'T HAVE ANY MEAT ON THIS SHIP!" Luffy smiles and replies, "OH, THAT'S RIGHT! ALTHOUGH UNCLE CABBAGE GAVE US PLENTY OF FRUITS," while Nami continues, "ARE WE GOING TO THE 'GRAND LINE' LIKE THISI" Luffy asks, "WHAT DO YOU MEANI"

Nami continues explaining, "EVERY PIRATE IN THIS WORLD WISHES TO GET THE TREASURE THERE, SO WE NEED TO GET A BETTER SHIP FIRST!" and "THE PLACE WE'RE GOING, THE 'GRAND LINE' IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE IN THE WORLD!" A sweating character lies on the deck saying, "LET'S NOT WORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF FOOD AND DRINK FIRST! AND WE DON'T HAVE ANY SAKE TO DRINK EITHER! HOW BORING!" Nami worries, "NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK, WE CAN'T POSSIBLY BE SAFE!" and "WE'RE ALSO SHORT ON CREW MEMBERS AND THIS SHIP DOESN'T HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT." Luffy excitedly shouts, "FIRST THING WE DO WHEN WE GET THERE IS LOOK FOR A BETTER SHIP! AND EAT SOME MEAT!" Nami suggests, "THERE'S A VILLAGE DUE NORTH. WE SHOULD GO THERE FIRST!" and "WE HAVE TO PREPARE FIRST, AND PLAN FOR THE JOURNEY'S AHEAD." Luffy asks, "OH! WHAT DO WE DO THENI"

Usopp stands on the beach with arms crossed, declaring, "HU HU! IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY..." and "THERE'S NOTHING LIKE STARTING SUCH A HAPPY AND REFRESHING DAY BY LOOKING AT THE SEA." SFX: KA!, KA!, and large "Eek" sound effect. A sign identifies him as "VILLAGE YOUNGSTER USOPP". In a side panel, a village scene shows birds chirping on a branch with SFX: CHIRP! CHIRP!

A massive close-up shows Usopp's face twisted in panic as he clutches his head and screams, "THE PIRATES ARE ATTACKING! WE'RE IN DANGER!!" In a small side panel, a distant figure runs down the village street with rapid tap-tap-tap footsteps. The next wide panel shows Usopp standing in the middle of the road, arms flung wide, yelling "EVERYBODY, RUN!!" while large Japanese SFX "わあああああああ" echo around him and villagers react with "THE PIRATES ARE COMING! THE PIRATES ARE COMING!" Inside a house, Kaya reads a newspaper as an old man sips tea; both react with alarm. Kaya says "THIS IS BAD! THIS IS BAD..." while the old man mutters "NOT AGAIN..." A woman at the window spots Usopp running outside and exclaims "OH! USOPP IS STARTING TO SHOUT AGAIN, THAT MEANS I HAVE TO GO TO WORK NOW" and "THE PIRATES ARE COMING!!" Another villager shouts "WHAT!I PIRATES!!I"

Usopp bursts into a huge laughing close-up, eyes squeezed shut, mouth wide open as he roars "WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I WAS JUST JOKING...!" In the next sequence a furious man with curly hair chases him out of a doorway, swinging a bottle and shouting "I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY THIS TIME!" Usopp ducks as the bottle flies past with a "TANG!" and "LUHF!" impact. On the village street Usopp stands with arms raised, declaring "EVERYBODY'S COMIN' OUT TODAY!" while a distant figure watches and Usopp nervously mutters "UH OH!"

Usopp sprints away laughing wildly, "WA HA HA HA HA! THEY'RE CHASING ME!" while an angry mob of villagers brandishes brooms and tools behind him, one yelling "STOP RIGHT THERE! YOU BASTARD!" Two villagers watch from afar; one says "THAT GUY DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO GO ON FOR A DAY WITHOUT LYING! IF I EVER CATCH HIM, I'LL MAKE HIM PAY!" and the other replies "DAMN! HE GOT AWAY AGAIN!" In the foreground Usopp sits on the ground, hands over his mouth, giggling "I HAVE FOOLED THE WHOLE VILLAGE AGAIN! HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE..." while three small figures in the distance wonder "WHERE DID HE GO ANYWAYI" with SFX "GASA..."

Usopp lounges in a tree, arms behind his head, laughing "I'VE HELPED ADD SOME EXCITEMENT TO THIS BORING VILLAGE! I AM VERY HAPPY... I'VE DONE ANOTHER GOOD DEED TODAY!" with SFX "ガサ..." A small boy below spots him and calls "AH! THERE HE IS!" Usopp looks down surprised "HUHI" In the next panel Usopp's face fills the frame as he recognizes the boys and exclaims "IT'S YOU GUYS!" and "OH OH!" The bottom panel shows two village boys, Ninjin and Piiman, standing at attention with toy swords raised, shouting "USOPP'S PIRATE CREW READY FOR ACTION!" "CAPTAIN USOPP!" and "GOOD MORNING!" A note reads "PIIMAN MEANS GREEN PEPPER & NINJIN MEANS CARROT."

The three boys of Usopp's pirate crew stand together on a village path. Piiman and Ninjin wonder where Tamanegi is. "UH! I THINK SO!" "HE'S PROBABLY STILL SLEEPING, RIGHTI" "WHERE'S TAMANEGII" "PIIMAN, NINJIN, WHY ONLY YOU GUYS ARE HEREI" They spot Tamanegi far down the road, running and yelling. "WHAT IS HE YELLINGI" "IT'S TAMANEGI!" "THIS IS BAD! WAAA-AAAAA!!" Tamanegi bursts into a huge close-up panel, glasses askew and mouth wide open. "THE PIRATES ARE COMING!!" SFX: tap tap tap tap. A note reads "TAMANEGI MEANS ONION" beside the label "VILLAGE BOY TAMANEGI".

The boys react in panic. "IT'S TRUE!" "YOU'RE LYING!" One points toward the shore. "THE SHIP HAS A SKULL FLAG, AND HAS COME DOWN TO THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE SHORE!" "IT'S TRUE! I JUST SAW IT!" They stare at a distant pirate ship flying Buggy's jolly roger. "IT'S TRUE! WE'RE DEAD!" "WHAT DID YOU SAYI" "AND THE SYMBOL ON THE FLAG IS OF BUGGY'S PIRATE FLEET!" Usopp sweats heavily and claims, "ACTUALLY, I HAVE THIS DISEASE THAT WILL KILL ME IF I DON'T EAT SNACKS..." The others shout "YOU'RE LYING!" Usopp turns and runs. "DON'T RUN AWAY!" "ALAS! TIME FOR SNACKS!" SFX: gogogogo.

Usopp faces the three boys. "IT'S JUST TWO SMALL BOATS!" "ISN'T IT A BIG SHIPI" "WHATI THREE...I" The kids protest, "THAT'S RIGHT! AND THERE ARE ONLY THREE OF THEM..." "HOW CAN A PIRATE BE AFRAID OF OTHER PIRATES!I" "CAPTAIN, AREN'T YOU ALWAYS SAYING YOU WANT TO BE A REAL PIRATE!I" Usopp raises a fist dramatically. "LET'S FIGHT FOR THE VILLAGE AND PEACE!" SFX: DO--N!! "OKAY! USOPP'S PIRATE, LET'S MOVE!" The boys cheer, "YES CAPTAIN!!" "YES!!" Usopp runs ahead waving them on. "LET'S GO! FOLLOW ME!" SFX: dash lines.

A wide view shows a calm sea and distant island under scattered clouds. On a small boat approaching the shore, Luffy stands at the bow. "WE FOLLOWED THE MAP, SO IT WON'T BE WRONG!" "SO WHAT DID YOU EXPECTI" "WOW! THERE'S REALLY AN ISLAND HERE!!" SFX: GAKON! Nami smiles from the boat. "UH HUH! LOOKS LIKE THERE'S A SMALL VILLAGE!" Luffy points excitedly toward land. "IS THERE A VILLAGE HEREI" Zoro sits holding an oar nearby.

On a wooden dock overlooking the sea, the three Usopp Pirates kids stare toward a distant ship flying a pirate flag. "YEAH! THEY DON'T LOOK SCARY! THAT'S RIGHT! LOOK, THERE'S A PIRATE SYMBOL! HEY! TAMANEGI, ARE THE PIRATES THAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUTI" they chatter excitedly. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami stand nearby on the shore. Luffy scratches his head and says, "THAT'S BECAUSE YOU WERE SLEEPING ALL THE TIME! BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I LAST STOOD ON FIRM GROUND..." Zoro glares with a fierce expression. Suddenly, SFX: SHOCKED! as the group notices something. "WHAT ARE THOSE GUYS DOING THEREI BY THE WAY, I JUST NOTICED A MOMENT AGO..." Zoro remarks while Luffy and Nami turn to look.

A massive impact SFX: どひゅん! erupts as the three kids flee in terror. "WAAAAA...! WE'VE BEEN FOUND!! HEY! YOU... DON'T RUN AWAY!!" Usopp yells after them with a panicked face. In close-up, Usopp sweats heavily, eyes wide. SFX: ZUDO--N!! The scene cuts to Usopp striking a dramatic pose with arms crossed, shouting, "I AM THE GREAT PIRATE FLEET LEADER, USOPP, WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE SECURITY OF THIS VILLAGE! I'M ALSO KNOWN AS 'CAPTAIN USOPP'!" SFX: ずどーん!!

Usopp continues boasting with arms crossed. "BECAUSE MY 80 MILLION MEN ARE NOT GOING TO FORGIVE YOU! IT'S BEST IF YOU DON'T TRY TO ATTACK THIS VILLAGE." The others react in shock. "ARGHH!! DID I JUST SAY THATI SEE, YOU EVEN SAID IT YOUR-SELF! WAA! I'VE BEEN CAUGHT! YOU'RE LYING RIGHTI" Usopp panics, clutching his head. "BAD PLANNING! BAD PLANNING INDEED! BULL'S EYE!" he cries. In another panel he declares, "AND EVERYONE CALLS ME THE 'HONORABLE USOPP'! I AM A MAN WITH HIGH SELF-ESTEEM! HEY! DON'T UNDERESTIMATE ME!" Luffy bursts into laughter. SFX: HAHAHAHA

The scene shifts to a small tavern labeled "MESH" in the village. Inside, Luffy stretches his mouth comically while the group sits at a table with drinks and food. "WHATI LOOKING FOR COMPANIONSI OH! SOUNDS LIKE A BIG ADVENTURE! YUP! SO, YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COMPANIONS AND A BIG SHIPI" they discuss. Usopp points and explains, "THE SHIP BELONGS TO THE MAN-SION'S OWNER. THERE'S A MANSION NOT FAR FROM THIS VILLAGE THAT BELONGS TO A WEALTHY FAMILY. WHEREI ALTHOUGH IT'S NOT A VERY BIG SHIP, BUT IT'S NOT THAT SMALL EITHER. THERE'S ONLY ONE PLACE WHERE YOU CAN FIND THE STUFF YOU WANT IN THIS VILLAGE..."

Inside the restaurant, a man in a checkered headband gestures emphatically while speaking about a young girl. "SHE IS A PITIFUL YOUNG GIRL... A WEAK AND SICK GIRL THAT ALWAYS LIES ON THE BED... ALTHOUGH WE SAY THAT SHE IS THE OWNER..." The blonde girl Kaya listens quietly from across the table. Luffy, wearing a straw hat, leans in and demands more food, shouting "OBASAN!! ANOTHER PLATE OF MEAT!! I WANT SOME MORE SAKE..." A note clarifies "OBASAN MEANS AUNT OR MA'AM". Kaya reacts with surprise, asking "EHI THEN HOW COME SHE'S THE OWNER OF THE MANSIONI" The man continues explaining her situation: "LEAVING HER A LARGE INHERITANCE, A MANSION, AND OVER TEN SERVANTS... THAT GIRL'S PARENTS DIED OF SICKNESS, I THINK IT HAPPENED AROUND A YEAR AGO..." An exterior view of the large mansion surrounded by scattered coins and papers illustrates the inheritance.

Kaya sits with a serious expression as the man in the checkered headband leans back with arms raised, declaring "IT DOESN'T EXEMPT YOU FROM SORROW EVEN IF YOU ARE REALLY RICH." She responds thoughtfully, "WE'LL GO AND SEARCH SOMEWHERE ELSE... LET'S FORGET ABOUT SEARCHING FOR A SHIP IN THIS VILLAGE." At the table, Luffy and the others react with surprise as plates are cleared; someone says "NEVER-MIND..." Luffy grins widely and points while exclaiming "IS THERE SOMEBODY WHO WANTS TO BE OUR COMPANIONI...SAID EARLIER THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COMPANIONSI OH YEAH, YOU... I STILL WANT SOME MORE MEAT! OKAY! BUT WE'RE NOT IN A HURRY ANYWAYS, LET'S BUY SOME MORE MEAT FOR OUR SUPPLY!" The group continues their lively discussion over the meal.

The man in the checkered headband reacts with shock, exclaiming "WHAT KIND OF ATTITUDE IS THATI NEVER-MIND!" as sound effect "ガーン" rings out. He then smiles broadly, gives a thumbs-up, and declares "AND I'LL JOIN YOU! LET ME BE THE CAPTAIN," with sparkles around him. Outside the window, Kaya looks toward the large mansion and says "UHM... CLAHA-DOR... I WANT TO SEE USOPP-SAN..." A servant inside the mansion asks "WHAT IS IT, KAYA OJO U-SAMAI" A note explains "'OJO U-SAMA' IS A RESPECTABLE WAY OF SAYING 'MISS' OR 'MISTRESS'." Kaya's expression softens as she gazes at the estate.
