Marineford reels from Luffy's burst of Conqueror's Haki. Marines shout, "Hey, get a grip!!" and "Crap!! He's lost consciousness!" while pirates realize that Ace's brother just used the same "royal-type Haki" as Whitebeard and Red-Haired Shanks. Sengoku says, "It looks like... that wasn't done consciously... He's hiding a terrifying power." Ace, still chained on the platform, murmurs that Luffy was really born with it too, and Garp looks grimly at the power now revealed.

The Marines immediately reassess Luffy as a dangerous enemy. Ivankov asks Luffy when and where he gained that power, but Luffy only says, "Ah!? What do you mean!?" Officers shout, "Those with weak wills, get back!!" and "He's no ordinary rookie!!" Vice Admiral Doberman identifies him as the son of the revolutionary Dragon and declares that if Luffy lives, he will grow into a terrifying enemy. The order spreads: "Don't let him escape this battle."

Ivankov insists that Luffy's Haki was unconscious and says his power is still sleeping, but he naturally draws people to him. Ivankov mutters, "There's no mistaking that he has your blood!! Dragon!!!" Marines shout, "Whitebeard comes first!!! Even if he is a monster, he's badly hurt!!!" and "Take him down no matter what!!!" Whitebeard, still wounded and bleeding, smashes aside attackers and roars for his men: "All right, you bastards!!!"

Whitebeard gives the order that changes the battlefield: "Use all your strength to support Strawhat Luffy!!!" Pirates are shocked that Ace's little brother has become their focus, but Whitebeard says, "Show me what you've got, brat...!! If you carry the 'will of D' as well, then show me what lies beyond this age!!!" Marines and pirates alike turn toward Luffy as the Whitebeard Pirates prepare to protect him on the path to Ace.

Whitebeard's allies rally around Luffy and begin forcing a path through the Marines. Marines fire and shout, "Hurry!! Ace's brother!!" while a pirate warns that the Marines are focused on Whitebeard and that if this chance passes, they will never reach the platform. Another says, "This is serious, Strawhat boy!! The world's greatest pirate is testing you!!!" The allied captains declare, "We're going to push through!!! Follow us!!!" as Luffy charges behind them.

Ivankov asks whether Luffy is ready to answer Whitebeard's attention, but Luffy says he knows nothing about Whitebeard and has only one reason for being there. He slams through enemies while shouting, "For being here!!!" A pirate warns, "Dodge, Strawhat boy!!! Hawkeye!!!" Mihawk suddenly appears in Luffy's path and swings his black blade. Luffy reacts with alarm as the world's greatest swordsman cuts into the route toward Ace.

Luffy recognizes Mihawk as "you!" and Daz Bones steps into the fight. Daz says, "It's the boss's orders. The Marines are our enemy for now." Luffy remembers him as "Daz Bones, right?" while Ivankov grins nearby. Daz blocks Mihawk briefly but is cut down, groaning, "Uuhh!!!" Crocodile then attacks from behind and tells Mihawk, "I'm in a hell of a mood right now...!! Watch yourself, Hawkeye!"

Hancock and Ivankov argue while continuing to clear the way. Ivankov asks, "What are you doing!!? Aren't you a Shichibukai!? How many Pacifistas have you stopped!!? Aren't you on the government's side!!?" Hancock answers, "Love is always a hurricane!!!" and offers to teach him something. Luffy thanks her and says, "Sorry, I need your powers. Don't worry about it, Iva...!!" The unlikely allies keep fighting for Luffy's path despite their clashing loyalties.

Ivankov produces a large face and says, "Do not worry..." while the pirates and allies push through Marine lines. A voice tells Luffy, "The platform is close, Strawhat boy!!! You just keep running forward!!!" and Luffy answers, "Yeah!!!" Jimbei and other allies hold back the Marines, while Luffy notices movement nearby with an "Eh?" He is almost at Ace, and the battlefield begins to funnel toward the execution platform.

Inazuma suddenly cuts and folds the ground itself into a ramp, creating a path up toward the execution platform. Marines scream, "Uwaaaah, what is that!!?" and Luffy recognizes him as "Crab man!!" Others identify him as "Inazuma the revolutionary!!!" Inazuma tells Luffy, "Luffy, go!!" and Luffy replies, "Got it!! Thanks!!" The ramp becomes the literal bridge of life, giving Luffy a direct route to Ace through the battlefield.

Luffy races up Inazuma's ramp and shouts, "I'm here!!! Ace!!!!" Ace stares in disbelief as Luffy climbs toward the platform, panting "Zeeh... Zeeh." Marines scream, "Don't let him get there!!!" while allies below yell, "Go, Strawhat!!!" But Garp stands at the top of the path and says, "I won't let you go." Luffy sees him blocking the final stretch, turning the rescue into a confrontation with his own grandfather.

Luffy continues up the ramp while Ivankov shouts for people to stay back and the pirates below call, "Go, Strawhat!!! Go release Ace!!!" The Whitebeard Pirates recognize him as Ace's brother, and even Buggy notices, yelling, "Captain Buggy!! Strawhat's getting to the platform!!" At the top, Luffy begs, "Grandpa!!! Please move!!!" Garp refuses, roaring, "I'm not moving an inch, Luffy!!! I'm a vice-admiral of the Marines!!!" The chapter ends with Garp planted in Luffy's way.
