Surprise Zombie

At Thriller Bark's entrance, Cerberus blocks the path and growls, "GRRR RRR...!!" The three-headed beast lowers itself to fight while Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Robin, and Franky stand before it. Robin says, "WHAT? IT LOOKS LIKE IT WANTS TO FIGHT." Zoro reaches for his swords: "THEN I WILL..." but Luffy stops him: "NO, WAIT." With a grin, Luffy says, "LET'S TRY TO TAME IT."

Luffy treats Cerberus like an ordinary dog. Sanji warns him, "FOOL. EVEN IF IT'S A DOG, IT'S LIKE THE BOSS DOG!!" but Robin calmly says, "DOGS ARE DOGS. THERE, THERE, THERE." Luffy holds out his hand and commands, "SHAKE." Cerberus lunges instead, barking, "BOW WOW!! KOON!!" and bites down on him. Zoro notes dryly, "RIGHT AFTER HE WAS WARNED..." But Luffy forces the creature back and keeps insisting, "THERE, THERE, GOOD BOY." He tells Cerberus, "THAT'S IT, LET ME GO SLOWLY... YOU'RE A GOOD BOY."

Cerberus bites Luffy again, and Luffy finally loses patience. He shouts, "YOU BASTARD!!!!" and slams the three-headed creature into the wall with a huge crash. Cerberus cries, "GUGYAH!!!" and collapses. Luffy stands over it and says, "DOWN." The others stare at the absurd result. Sanji mutters, "ERM, NO..." while the defeated Cerberus lies twitching at Luffy's feet.

After the beating, the crew studies Cerberus more closely. Robin says, "ASIDE FROM THAT, WHAT TERRIBLE WOUNDS. IT'S A WONDER THAT IT'S ALIVE." Sanji points out, "EVEN STILL, AT THE POINT THAT THERE'S FOX MIXED IN, IT'S NOT EVEN A VALID CREATURE ANYMORE." The group rides the beaten Cerberus through the gate, and Franky says, "YOU SEEM TO HAVE NO ENERGY, CERBERUS-SAN." Luffy calls for Nami: "NAMI-SAN, HEEEY!! NAMI-SAN, WHERE ARE YOU!!?" Robin says, "IF SOME-THING THIS INTERESTING POPPED OUT AS SOON AS WE ENTERED, THEN I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ISLAND!!" Franky adds, "ONCE WE LEAVE THE MOAT, THE FOREST IS IN FRONT OF US..." Cerberus suddenly reacts with a grin, and Luffy looks up: "HUH?"

The strange forest opens before them, and even Cerberus joins the odd company. A middle-aged man tree and a unicorn sit together drinking. Luffy stares in shock and says, "A MIDDLE-AGED MAN TREE... AND A UNICORN ARE HAVING A DRINK TOGETHER!!" Then he grabs both with delight: "I CAUGHT IT---!!!" He yells, "ME TOO!! THESE ARE RARE!!" and asks, "YOU GUYS!! DO YOU WANT TO BE PIRATES WITH--" The man tree and unicorn answer together, "NO WAY!!!" One pleads, "WUOOO, PLEASE LET US GO!!!"

Doctor Hogback's mansion stands in the distance. Inside, the commotion from the bath reaches the others. A voice shouts, "HEY!! ABSALOM!! I KNOW YOU'RE HERE. WHAT WAS THAT COMMOTION!? YOU WERE IN THE BATHING AREA AGAIN?" Absalom growls that he is searching for a bride: "HOGBACK... I'M SEARCHING FOR A BRIDE AND I'M INTERESTED IN THAT GIRL!! I'M GOING TO MAKE HER MINE!!" Hogback tells him, "SHE'S GOT A BOUNTY ON HER HEAD. I WON'T GIVE HER TO YOU." Perona appears with her ghosts and reports, "WE'VE GOT SIX BOUNTY HEADS THIS TIME. ONE OF THEM EXCEEDS 100 MILLION. THE CAPTAIN IS 300 MILLION!!" Hogback answers, "300 MILLION... YOU'RE TAKING IT LIGHTLY, PERONA. IF THE GOVERNMENT ASSIGNED 300 MILLION ON SOMEONE, THEY AREN'T ORDINARY PIRATES." He concludes, "IF YOU KNOW THAT, THEN USE ALL OF YOUR POWERS TO CAPTURE THE PREY... ABSALOM. IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE IN FOR A BIG JOB TONIGHT...!!"

In the second floor hallway, Nami confronts Usopp and Chopper about what happened in the bath. Usopp insists, "THERE'S NO WAY AN INVISIBLE MAN EXISTS!!" Nami argues, "THERE WAS!! FOR SURE!! YOU SAW HIM RESTRAINING MY BODY, DIDN'T YOU!?" Usopp panics and denies it: "... NO, I DIDN'T!!!" even as Chopper says, "YOU SAW IT!!" Nami realizes Usopp is avoiding responsibility: "YOU'RE TRYING TO GET ME TO SAY THAT I SAW YOU NAKED AND DEMAND MONEY FROM ME." Usopp calls it "A TRICK QUESTION!!!" Nami vows, "I'M NOT GOING TO BELIEVE A SINGLE THING THAT I SEE ON THIS ISLAND!!" Usopp tries to dismiss everything: "THE INVISIBLE MAN IS MY IMAGINATION. THE GHOST IS A WEIRD BIRD. THE ZOMBIES ARE THAT KIND OF RACE... 'UNDER-GROUNDERS'!!!" Chopper objects, reminding them that Brook is a special exception: "IT'S TRUE THAT WE DID MEET A SKELETON THAT REVIVED AFTER DYING ONCE BECAUSE OF A DEVIL FRUIT!!" but, he says, "IT'S TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DEAD TO BE REVIVED."

Chopper, still loyal to Hogback, says that from a medical standpoint everything is inconceivable, yet maybe a miracle is happening on the island. He says, "IT'S SOMETHING THAT DOCTOR HOGBACK THREW AWAY HIS LIFE OF GLORY TO RESEARCH, SO..." Usopp says, "ISN'T THAT RIGHT? IT'S MORE NATURAL TO THINK THAT THOSE KINDS OF BEINGS EXIST!!" Nami asks, "DON'T YOU TRUST THAT MAN A BIT TOO MUCH?" Chopper flares up: "YOU'RE THE RUDE ONES!! YOU'RE ASSUMING THAT THE DOCTOR AND THE ZOMBIES ARE COHORTS WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE!! DOCTOR HOGBACK IS A REALLY GREAT MAN!! I LOOK UP TO HIM!!" Nami answers quietly, "IT'S JUST EERIE. EVERYTHING..." Paintings along the hallway seem to glare at them, making even Usopp admit, "HMMM, THAT'S TRUE... IT IS ONLY A HUNCH, BUT..."

The hallway suddenly changes around them. Usopp asks, "AND... WHY IS IT PITCH BLACK?" Nami realizes, "THIS IS THE ROOM FROM BEFORE, RIGHT?" Chopper calls out, "D-DOCTOR~~~!! WHERE DID YOU GO--!?" The dining room has gone dark and silent. Nami asks, "C-CINDRY-CHAN?" and says, "WE TOOK OUR BATH..." Hildon appears, startling them: "GYAH!! HILDON!!!" Usopp explodes, "YOU---!! HOW DARE YOU LEAVE US AT THE GRAVEYARD EARLIER!!!" Hildon bows in shame: "I'M VERY ASHAMED. IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS LOOKING AWAY AS I WENT TO GO ABOUT MY BUSINESS WITH THE HORSES."

Nami is done believing anyone. "ALL LIES!!" she shouts. "EVERYONE ON THIS ISLAND IS IN CAHOOTS WITH EACH OTHER, RIGHT?" Hildon says, "DON'T SAY SUCH THINGS THAT SOUND SO BAD... COME THIS WAY, PLEASE. I WILL ESCORT YOU TO YOUR ROOMS..." Nami refuses: "YOU'RE GOING TO INCORRIGIBLY 'ESCORT' US AGAIN...!?" She says they will leave immediately, and Usopp adds, "THANKS A LOT, BUT WE'LL BE TAKING OUR LEAVE IMMEDIATELY." Chopper still wants to speak with Hogback: "WHA!? WAIT A MINUTE! LET ME TALK TO DR. HOGBACK A LITTLE MORE." From a portrait, a woman comments to Hogback, "ISN'T IT ALRIGHT ALREADY? THESE KIDS ARE STARTING TO REALIZE THINGS... BEFORE YOU MESS UP AND THEY RUN AWAY..." Hildon says, "HO HO HO HO. YOU'VE BEEN DUMPED, HILDON." The painted figure orders, "I WOULD LIKE YOU TO LEAVE ME ALONE." Hildon says, "I WILL GET THEM TO THE ROOM." Chopper suddenly notices: "WHY... IS A PAINTING..."

The portrait erupts from the wall. A long-armed zombie lunges out screaming, "I WON'T LET YOU LEAVE, LITTLE BOYS!!!" Nami, Usopp, and Chopper scream, "GYAAAAAAH!!!" Usopp shouts, "A ZOMBIE FROM INSIDE THE PAINTING!!?" The creature grabs Chopper and swings away while he cries, "UWAH!!! CHOPPER!!! HELP!!!" The zombie in the frame calls himself a threat, clanking and grinning as he drags Chopper through the hall.

The painting zombie carries Chopper high and announces, "THE LEADER OF THE ZOMBIES IN THIS ROOM IS ME, 'BUHICHUCK'-SAMA!!" He warns, "DON'T THINK THAT YOU CAN TAKE EVEN A STEP OUT OF THIS ROOM!! BUH!!" He rides the wall and swings through the hall while Usopp shouts, "THE WALL-MOUNTED ANIMAL TALKED!!!" Nami trips over what she thinks is a rug and yells, "OUCH, OWWWW!! WHAT!? THE SKIN RUG ON THE FLOOR...!!" The bearskin rug rises into a massive stitched beast and roars, "WHO IS IT THAT STABBED MY BACK WITH A SWORD!?"

The room attacks from every direction. Usopp screams, "IT'S LIKE NAMI SAYS. THIS MANSION IS...!! FULL OF ZOMBIES!!!" He tries to fight back from the chandelier, while the bearskin rug below says, "TAKE THIS, YOU BEARSKIN RUG!!!" and another voice yells, "HEY! THERE'S ONE HANGING FROM THE CHANDELIER!!" "KNOCK HIM DOWN, BEAR RUG!!!!" "DROP HIM!!" The rug opens its huge mouth under the chandelier, trying to swallow Usopp while Nami and Chopper scramble through the chaos.

A candle becomes their unlikely weapon. The Bearskin Rug notices, "OH NO, IT'S A CANDLE!!!" and cries, "HOT, HOT!! IT'S ROTTEN HOT!!!" Another zombie screams, "FIRE!!! SCARY!!! PUT IT OUT-!!!" Usopp remembers the weakness and shouts, "I ALREADY KNOW YOUR WEAKNESS!! TAKE THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS!!" He showers the room with flame: "TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU!!" The zombies panic: "HOW DANGEROUS! YOU'LL START A FIRE!!" Nami takes the chance and yells, "CHOPPER, NAMI!! TO THE DOOR!! LET'S GET OUT OF THIS MANSION!!!" Chopper agrees, "OK!!!" and declares, "I'M LEAVING!!! I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!"

The three rush the door. Usopp shouts, "HURRY AND OPEN IT!!!" and Chopper says, "I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS PLACE." But the door refuses to open. Nami asks, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" and then realizes, "IT'S..." Usopp pulls harder: "DON'T TELL ME..." The lock clanks shut: "CLINK CLANK CLANK." Nami cries, "WE'RE LOCKED IN!!!" and Usopp yells, "IT DOESN'T OPEN!!!" Behind them, the Bearskin Rug rises again, roaring, "HOW DARE YOU... THE BEARSKIN RUG IS COMING!!!"

The Bearskin Rug charges, yelling, "GET DOWN!!" Nami, Usopp, and Chopper barely escape the impact as it smashes through the door and wall with "GWAAAAH!!!" The trio tumbles out, and the zombies keep shouting, "I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE!!!" Usopp gasps, "T-THAT WAS CLOSE. ANYWAY, LET'S JUST GET OUT OF THIS ROOM!! TO A DIFFERENT ROOM..." But the next chamber is burning: "IN THE FIRE PLACE!!!" Chopper cries, "IT'S NO GOOD. WE'VE GOT NOWHERE TO ESCAPE TO!!" A voice calls, "WAIT!!" as the chase spills into another part of the mansion.

The three squeeze through a hidden passage, sliding and tumbling with "SQUEEK..." and "DOTE...!!" They land in another hallway and ask, "WHERE IS THIS!?" The fireplace behind them opens, and the zombies realize, "HEY, THEY DISAPPEARED!! THEY DISAPPEARED FROM THE FIREPLACE!!" Another cries, "OH NO!! THE SECRET PASSAGE OPENED!! THEY'LL GET INTO HOGBACK-SAMA'S LABORATORY!! FOLLOW THEM!!" A zombie explains, "IT'S NO USE. THEY'RE BLOCKING THE DOOR FROM THE OTHER SIDE!!!" Buhichuck warns, "... BUHIII, THERE'S NO NEED TO HURRY... NO MATTER WHERE THEY RUN TO IN THIS MANSION, OUR NAKAMA, THE 'SURPRISE ZOMBIES,' ARE EVERYWHERE, BUH!!"

Nami, Usopp, and Chopper keep fleeing through the mansion corridors. A voice warns, "NOT THE HALL!! DON'T GO ANYWHERE WITH PAINTINGS!!" but they are forced deeper inside, screaming, "AAARGGH!!!" Usopp sees another painting and yells, "UWAH!! ANOTHER PAINTING..." Then he realizes this one is only a photograph: "NO... IT'S A PHOTOGRAPH... WHAT A RELIEF... IT'S NOT A ZOMBIE..." The room is filled with images of Cindry. Nami asks, "ISN'T THIS... THAT GIRL...!?" and Usopp says, "CINDRY-CHAN... WHO HATES DISHES!! WHAT IS THIS ROOM?"
