Yeti Cool Brothers

On the snowy road behind the lab, the killers report their work. A voice says, "AT THE BOTTOM OF A CLIFF IN AREA F-16... YOU SHOULD FIND THREE DEAD BODIES." The bodies are named one by one: "PIRATE HUNTER ZORO... THE CAT-BURGLAR... AND THE SOUL KING." Zoro, Nami's body, and Brook lie motionless in the snow, apparently taken down before they could even understand the ambush. Caesar's order follows: "TAKE CARE OF THE RETRIEVAL." The shooters, standing as tall dark silhouettes in the blizzard, receive a warning: "IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR TARGET KILLED, THEN YOU CALLED THE WRONG PEOPLE." The response from the facility is confused: "HUH...? Y...YOU KILLED THEM, THEN?" and then panicked: "NO, NO!! THE MASTER SAID IT WAS FINE EITHER WAY... GOOD LUCK WITH THE REST OF YOUR MISSION!"

Inside Caesar Clown's research lab, Caesar hears that the first targets were taken out and laughs at the result. "OH, DID YOU HEAR THAT, MONÉ...? IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'VE KICKED THE BUCKET! I SEE. HAHAHA... HOW VERY DISAPPOINTING..." he says. Moné, reading calmly, frames the Straw Hats as a serious enemy: "THIS CREW COME FROM THE 'TERRIBLE GENERATION,' JUST LIKE LAW... AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE GOVERNMENT CONSIDER THEM AS DANGEROUS AS BLACKBEARD HIMSELF. SO WHEN I READ ARTICLES PROCLAIMING THAT THEY WERE BACK IN FORCE AND AS STRONG AS EVER... I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN THIS. DON'T YOU AGREE, LAW...?" Law says nothing. Moné smiles and presses him: "YOU KNOW THEM FAIRLY WELL, ISN'T THAT RIGHT? TWO YEARS AGO ON SHABONDY... AND THEN DURING THE BATTLE AT MARINEFORD... YOU'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH STRAW HAT TWICE BEFORE." Caesar's attention shifts: "WHAT'S THIS NOW?"

Law admits he did not call the Straw Hats to Punk Hazard. Caesar points a gun toward him and says, "I CERTAINLY HOPE IT WASN'T YOU THAT CALLED THEM HERE..." Law answers, "UNTIL I BUMPED INTO THEM AT THE ENTRANCE... I HAD NO IDEA THEY WERE EVEN HERE IN THE FACILITY. I TOLD YOU THAT ALREADY." Then he turns the accusation back: "IF I HAD KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE WARNED YOU THAT LOCKING THEM IN THAT ROOM WAS NEVER GOING TO BE ENOUGH... IT'S BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T TAKE MORE CARE WITH THEM THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO GET RID OF THOSE MARINES COMPLETELY. I'LL REMIND YOU THAT I DON'T WANT THIS PLACE TO BE DISCOVERED ANY MORE THAN YOU DO..." The report interrupts them: "MASTER!! THE SHICHIBUKAI PIRATE... LAW HAS ARRIVED ON THE ISLAND!!" Caesar and Law stare at one another, the secret of Law's presence now pressing directly against Caesar's own security.

Caesar asks the question beneath the whole alliance: "AND YOU WANT TO STAY HERE ON PUNK HAZARD?" Law answers by explaining what brought him there. "IT WASN'T EASY FOR ME TO REACH THIS ISLAND, WHICH CAN'T BE FOUND BY LOG POSE. IT IS A FORMER SECRET GOVERNMENT FACILITY, AFTER ALL... I'M LOOKING INTO RESEARCH THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS CARRYING OUT. THIS FACILITY SHOULD CONTAIN VALUABLE TRACES OF RESEARCH THAT IS STILL GOING ON TO THIS DAY." Law's condition is simple: "ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU LET ME HAVE FREE REIN OF THIS FACILITY AND THE ISLAND. NOTHING MORE. I'LL HELP YOU OUT IN RETURN, IF YOU LIKE. AND NEITHER OF US NEEDS TO PRY INTO THE OTHER'S AFFAIRS." Caesar asks, "...YOU SURE ARE WELL-INFORMED. HOW DO YOU KNOW SO MUCH?" Law answers, "NATURALLY, I DON'T WANT YOU TELLING ANYBODY THAT I'M HERE. AND THAT INCLUDES JOKER."

Caesar enjoys having leverage over Law. "WOULD YOU PREFER IF I WAS AN IGNORANT FOOL WHO DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING? SHURORORORORO...!! I SEE, I SEE. WE'RE ROGUES OF THE SAME STRIPE, IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING...?" Law says nothing, and Caesar continues, "I DON'T SEE HOW I CAN TRUST YOU, BUT I SUPPOSE YOUR PROPOSITION CAN'T HURT. RIGHT, MONÉ?" Moné, calmly checking her notes, says, "BORN IN NORTH BLUE, KNOWN AS THE 'DOCTOR OF DEATH', USER OF THE OPE OPE NO MI... I SEE YOU'RE A DOCTOR." Then she asks the question Caesar cares about: "THERE ARE A LOT OF FORMER PRISONERS ON THIS ISLAND WHOSE BODIES HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY THE EFFECTS OF POISON GAS. CAN YOU HEAL THEM?" Law's silence hangs between them, suggesting that his medical power is precisely why Caesar can use him.

Caesar lays out the bargain. He says, "WELL... I SUPPOSE IF YOU WERE PLANNING TO ALL ASSOCIATE WITH THIS ISLAND, YOU'D BE A BIT MORE CLEVER ABOUT IT. AFTER GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO INGRATIATE YOURSELF WITH THE WORLD GOVERNMENT... AND JOIN THE RANKS OF THE ROYAL SHICHIBUKAI IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TO THIS ISLAND... I CAN'T IMAGINE YOU'D DO ANYTHING SO CARELESS THAT COULD RUIN BOTH OUR PLANS." Law then asks about the children: "WHEN YOU JUST SAID... THAT THOSE KIDS WOULD COME BACK HERE SOONER OR LATER REGARDLESS, WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU...?" Caesar grins and apologizes without meaning it: "YOU HAVE MY APOLOGIES. OH, THAT... I FEED THEM A SPECIAL DRUGGED CANDY EVERY DAY. IT RELEASES A SWEET AND INTOXICATING STIMULANT GAS... SHURORORO... THEY WON'T GET THEIR NEXT DOSE UNLESS THEY COME BACK TO ME...!!!" Law's response is cold: "YOU'RE A TWISTED ONE, ALL RIGHT... REMINDS ME OF A CERTAIN SOMEONE..."

Law prepares to leave Caesar's chamber. Moné asks, "AND THE BATTLE?" Law answers, "CALL ME IF YOU NEED ME...!! I'LL TAKE DOWN WHOEVER YOU TELL ME TO." Caesar says that "SHREWD MEN LIKE HIM ARE ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH..." Outside, at the remains of the first and second research facilities, an explosion erupts through the snow and ruins with a heavy "RUMBLE!!" The people caught nearby scream, "AAHHH HHHHHH HHH...!!" and "NOT AGAIN!!" as black smoke blooms over the broken lab remains. The facility is under attack again, and the blast threatens the children and the Straw Hats who stayed with them.

The explosion shakes the snowy shelter where Chopper, Nami, Franky, Robin, Usopp, and the children remain. The children cry, "I DON'T LIKE THIS!! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" and one of the Straw Hats says, "BUT... ENEMIES?! IN A PLACE LIKE THIS?!" Another insists, "IT'S NO EARTHQUAKE!! WE'RE DEFINITELY UNDER ATTACK!!" Chopper worries first about the children: "THIS ISN'T GOOD... IF THIS PLACE COLLAPSES, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE CHILDREN?!!" Smoke from the blasts rises across the ruins. Someone asks, "WHAT ABOUT LUFFY AND THE OTHERS?!" while another calls, "LUFFY, FRANKY, ROBIN AND USOPP... SHOULD ALL BE WELL ON THEIR WAY TO THE LAB BY NOW!! IT'S JUST THE TWO OF US!!" Nami sees the scale of the enemy and panics: "CAN YOU SEE THE ENEMY?! HOW MANY OF THEM ARE THERE?! WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE?!" but the answer is helpless: "*PANT*... THAT'S JUST THE THING... I CAN'T MAKE OUT ANY SIGN... OF ANYONE... NO WAY...!!"

Partway down the mountain, Luffy's group turns back toward the noise. Luffy says, "THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE DIRECTION WE CAME FROM... LUFFY!! I'M SURE THAT WAS AN EXPLOSION JUST NOW!!" Footprints cover the snow, and Robin notices, "IT COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHATEVER MADE THESE FOOTPRINTS!!" Luffy senses the danger: "...THERE'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING OUT THERE... TWO OF THEM!! THEY FEEL LIKE WILD ANIMALS!! LET'S HEAD BACK!! NAMI AND CHOPPER ARE IN DANGER!!" Meanwhile, Brownbeard wakes after the earlier attack and complains, "*YAWN*... LOOKS LIKE I DOZED OFF." He immediately hears the commotion and asks, "IS IT LAW?! OUR MASTER?! OR ELSE..." When someone demands, "WHO ARE THEY AND WHAT ARE THEY DOING HERE?!" and "HOLD IT, BROWN-FACE!! YOU KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ENEMY, DON'T YOU?!" Brownbeard recognizes the terrain and the threat: "NO... THIS IS A SNOW-COVERED MOUNTAIN...!! IT MUST BE THEM...!!"

Brownbeard explains why the unseen attackers are so dangerous. Franky threatens him, "IF YOU DON'T ANSWER, I'LL HIT YOU WITH THIS!! BYUUOONN!! ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF BEAMS?!" Brownbeard says there is no point searching normally: "THERE'S NO POINT TRYING TO SEARCH FOR THEM... THEY'LL NEVER SHOW THEMSELVES, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO...! EVEN WE BARELY KNOW A THING ABOUT THEM, NOT EVEN THEIR FACES...!!" He adds, "WHEN THEY'RE ASKED TO KILL SOMEONE, THEY WILL DO SO WITHOUT FAIL. FOR THE PROPER PRICE, OF COURSE!! ALL I DO KNOW ABOUT THEM... IS THAT THEIR FOOTPRINTS ARE HUGE AND THEIR VOICES ARE LOW... OH, AND ONE MORE THING... THEY'RE GIANT BEAST-MEN COVERED COMPLETELY IN HAIR!" He identifies them as "THE SNOWY-MOUNTAIN KILLER DUO WHO APPEAR LIKE DEATH OUT OF THE BLIZZARD..." and says, "THEY COME FROM AN UNKNOWN SNOWY COUNTRY, AND THEY'RE 25 YEARS-" before naming them fully: "OH, AND WE DO KNOW THEIR NAMES! ONE IS CALLED ROCK AND THE OTHER IS SCOTCH!! PEOPLE CALL THEM... THE YETI COOL BROTHERS!!"

Brownbeard tries to reassure himself with the Yeti Cool Brothers' strength. "BUT IT'S TRUE THAT NOBODY HAS EVER SEEN THEIR FACES!! WOHOHOH!! THEY'RE GIGANTIC, AND INCREDIBLY POWERFUL! THEY'RE HERE TO SAVE ME!! YOU GUYS MUST ALREADY BE ON THEIR DEATH LIST...!!" A huge figure suddenly looms close and asks, "YOU'RE BROWNBEARD, YES?" Brownbeard looks up in confusion as the beast-man says, "YOUR NAME IS ALSO ON MY DEATH LIST." The group panics: "AAAAA RGHHAHA?! WHAT IS THIS GUY?!!" Brownbeard thinks it is Rock, but the attacker corrects him: "NO, I'M SCOTCH. I THOUGHT I JUST HEARD YOU SAY... I MUST HAVE BEEN IMAGINING THINGS!! MY MASTER SENT YOU HERE TO SAVE ME, ISN'T THAT RIGHT?!" Scotch gives the real order instead: "SO HURRY UP AND ELIMINATE THESE STRAW HAT-" Brownbeard's faith in Caesar begins to crack.

Scotch's den den mushi receives Caesar's order directly. Caesar says, "THE MASTER'S ORDERS ARE TO KILL YOU AS WELL..." Brownbeard is stunned: "MASTER...?" Scotch confirms, "OH YES, THAT'S RIGHT. 'BROWN-BEARD'." The voice continues, "THE ONE WHO WAS CAPTURED BY THE ENEMY... HAIRY-FACED IDIOT... FAMOUS FOR BEING WORTHLESS EVEN WHEN HE WAS A PIRATE... LISTEN TO THIS... OH, AND THAT GUY... WHAT WAS HIS NAME AGAIN...? ...HE'S ONLY A HINDRANCE TO ME NOW. I DON'T NEED HIM. KILL HIM TOO." Brownbeard's delusion shatters: "!!?" Below, the shelter shakes from the continuing attack, and the Straw Hats shout, "LOOK!!! OVER THERE, I CAN SEE SMOKE FROM THE EXPLOSION!!" and "NAMI!! CHOPPER!!! ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?!"

Caesar speaks to Brownbeard with poisonous sweetness: "YOUR NAME IS BROWNBEARD, IS IT NOT? BROWNBEARD, YOU'RE SUCH A RELIABLE SOLDIER. OH, DON'T FLATTER ME! WOHOHOH!" Brownbeard can only think, "IT CAN'T BE...!!" while Caesar mocks the trust he placed in him: "YOU DID WELL TO MAKE IT THIS FAR. IT'S ALL RIGHT NOW!! YOU'RE SAFE HERE." Then Scotch fires. The blast slams into Brownbeard, and his body is engulfed in the explosion as he screams, "MASTEEEEEERRRRR!!!" The children and Straw Hats react in horror while the shots continue across the snow. Brownbeard's faith in his savior is answered not with rescue, but with an execution order from the man he worshiped.

The attackers keep firing, and the whole snowfield is in danger. Someone shouts, "OI, SCOTCH! DON'T OVERDO IT!! YOU'LL MAKE THIS WHOLE PLACE COLLAPSE AND KILL THE BRATS TOO!!" Another gives the order, "TAKE A LOOK OUTSIDE!! THEIR CAPTAIN HAS RETURNED!! THAT TAKES PRIORITY!!!" Luffy sees the blast and yells, "BROWN-BEARD! HE WAS THEIR ALLY!! HOW COULD THEY?!" He looks up at the enormous shadow and says, "WHAT'S THAT?! IT'S HUGE!!" Nami warns, "YOU MUST BE STRAW HAT. YOU'D BETTER NOT HAVE HURT ANY OF MY CREW!!" The battlefield detonates again, and Luffy braces himself as the huge hairy figure moves through smoke and snow. The enemy is close enough to strike, but still hard to see, exactly as Brownbeard described.

The fight turns into a blur. The huge shadow charges and then suddenly vanishes from the spot where Luffy expects it. Luffy reacts, "HUH?!" and someone shouts, "IT VANISHED!!" A moment later, the attack comes from another angle with a "THWACK!!" and a violent impact into the ice. Nami, still frightened for her body, cries, "LUFFY!!! I'M SO SORRY, LUFFY!! THEY TOOK NAMI!!!" Luffy whips around in shock: "HUH H?!" The Yeti Cool Brothers' ambush is not only brute force; they use the blizzard, speed, and distance to strike and disappear before the Straw Hats can pin them down. The enemy escapes with Nami's body as the snow closes in around the confused crew.

The Yeti Cool Brothers retreat with their captive. One says, "OUR ORDERS ARE TO TAKE THIS ONE ALIVE... APPARENTLY HE HAS SOME KIND OF LASER MADE BY DR. VEGAPUNK..." The other adds, "THE REST, WE'RE CLEAR TO KILL...!! EXCELLENT. LET'S GET RIGHT TO IT." At the research lab back entrance, Moné notices Law leaving: "HUH? LAW-SAN? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" She also reports, "THE MARINES HAVE BEEN SIGHTED NEARBY, AND..." Law does not stop. He answers, "...LIKE I CARE." As he walks through the snowy ruins, pieces of machinery and wreckage lift and part around him with "SWISH" sounds. "WHERE I WANT TO GO... IS MY BUSINESS," he says, making it clear that Caesar's orders and Moné's surveillance will not fully control him.
