A flashback begins, showing a peaceful Shandian village with teepees and totem poles. The Chief, wearing a wolf pelt on his head, narrates to a young Wyper. The Chief says, "The great warrior Kalgara, Continued on shouting..." He quotes Kalgara: "'LIGHT THE FLAME OF SHANDORA.'" The Chief explains, "For he believed the bell's ring would surely reach Noland's ears and tell him..." A silhouette of Kalgara is shown shouting, "'We are here...'" The Chief concludes, "He would be satisfied if he could even ring it once,"

Inside a tent, the Chief continues his story to young Wyper. He says, "HOWEVER, THE BELL WAS NOT RUNG. NOT EVEN ONCE..." A flashback panel shows Mont Blanc Noland being executed on a scaffold in front of a crowd. The Chief explains, "Much later, sailors from North Blue who visited these sky islands, Told us the other half of the story. Our saviour Noland, Died back on the Blue Seas while proudly claiming the glory of Shandora." Another panel shows sailors on a ship. The Chief adds, "The more the people called him 'liar,' The more steadfast he became in his refusal to deny Shandora's existence, Until the very moment of his death..." Young Wyper listens intently, looking shocked.

The Chief continues, "Meanwhile, Kalgara, too, Had died a most glorious death on the battlefield during his struggle to tell his friend that we were still here." A panel shows Kalgara looking fierce and determined. The Chief says, "But it was a fruitless struggle, because his feelings were never able to reach his one true friend... That was... The great warrior Kalgara's greatest regret...!" Young Wyper, with tears in his eyes, asks, "Chief, Tell me..." He then shouts passionately, "COULD THE BELL, STILL DELIVER ITS MESSAGE? IF WE COULD RING THE BELL, WOULD THE MESSAGE STILL REACH NOLAND!?"

The Chief looks surprised by Wyper's outburst, then smiles gently with tears forming in his eyes. He replies, "Perhaps... AFTER ALL, HEAVEN IS NOT FAR FROM UP HERE..." The scene transitions back to the present day. Adult Wyper is shown heavily injured, his face covered in blood and dirt, looking up in shock. The little girl Aisa is standing near him, desperately yelling his name over the rumbling sounds. "WIPER. WIPER! WIPER! WIPER!" she cries out. She warns him, "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE IF WE DON'T RUN AWAY! WIPER!"

Massive, dark, swirling clouds fill the sky above, crackling with intense lightning. Enel's flying ship, the Maxim, is partially visible within the storm clouds. On the ground, Wyper looks up in anger and disbelief, saying, "ENEL... WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT... TO STEAL EVERYTHING...!?" The rumbling of the storm is deafening. Nearby, a voice panics, shouting, "Oh crap! He's not holding back at all! We gotta run away!" Another voice cries out, "THIS IS THE END OF EVERY-THING!" Zoro, Nico Robin, and Gan Fall are also seen standing amidst the ruins, looking up at the impending destruction.

Aboard the Maxim, Enel looks down with a sinister grin. He muses, "Hmm... Is the hidden village of those pesky Shandora warriors there...?" He then declares loudly, "YOU ARE ALL AN EYESORE! HUMANS, TREES, AND EVEN THE EARTH! YOU SHOULD ALL RETURN TO WHENCE YOU BELONG!" He laughs maniacally, "YAHAHAHA! THIS IS THE SKY, GOD'S TERRITORY!" He continues to taunt the people below, "You are originally people of the Blue Seas... You should be glad that you will now be returning there! YAHAHAHA! I AM GOD!" He raises his staff, commanding the storm, "BECOME RAIN THAT FALLS DOWN TO THE BLUE SEAS! FALL BACK DOWN!" Massive bolts of lightning begin to strike down from the ship towards the sea clouds below.

Devastating lightning bolts strike the hidden Shandian village, causing massive explosions. The giant statues and teepees are blown apart by the sheer force of the attacks. Shandians are seen fleeing in panic. One shouts, "AGHHH! OUR VILLAGE! NOOOO!" As they escape on small boats, another remarks, "That was close... If we'd stayed any longer, we'd all be burnt bits by now..." The destruction is absolute as the village is reduced to rubble and smoke.

The destruction spreads across the sky. Captain McKinley of the White Berets urgently commands the evacuation of Angel Island. He shouts, "To the seas! HURRY ON OUT TO THE SEAS! ANGEL ISLAND WILL SOON BE NO MORE! TAKE TO THE SEAS!" The island is being bombarded by lightning, and large chunks of it are breaking apart. A fleet of small ships is seen sailing away from the collapsing island. A White Beret calls out, "Cpt. McKinley! We've got wounded here!" McKinley responds, "Just get them on the ships and treat them there! There's no place to take shelter on this island!"

Conis and Pagaya are looking back at the destruction of their home. Conis has a determined expression and says, "I REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE ENEL AS A GOD!" Massive explosions continue to rock the area behind them. Pagaya looks worried and says, "BUT I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW MUCH WORSE THINGS WOULD BE NOW IF THAT GIRL WARNED US A MOMENT LATER...!? I WONDER IF SHE'S ALRIGHT...?" Conis replies resolutely, "THERE ARE PEOPLE I KNOW FOR WHOM THE WORD ESCAPE ISN'T IN THEIR DICTIONARIES! I HAVE TO GET BACK TO THEM!" More explosions tear through the landscape.

The Going Merry is shown parked near a forest. Conis and Pagaya arrive on a waver. Conis bows deeply and apologizes, "I'M SORRY! THE ONE WHO CALLED THE SUPER SPEEDY SHRIMP WAS ME!" Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp are there to meet them. Luffy says, "Conis! Pagaya!" while Sanji swoons, "Naaaamiiiii!" Meanwhile, in another location, Gan Fall is speaking to Wyper's group. He says, "Yes, the holy land will sing once more." He then yells angrily, "Enel is... Planning to destroy every living thing in the sky!"

A massive, swirling hole opens up in the sea clouds. Enel's ship, the Maxim, flies above the giant beanstalk. Enel laughs, "Yahaha..." Aisa's voice cries out, "FATHER!" As the clouds part, the ruins of Shandora begin to fall through the opening. Enel looks down and mocks the fleeing people, "The flight of the angels, Looks just like the mad scramble of ants!"

People, debris, and small boats are shown plummeting through the massive hole in the White Sea. Voices cry out in terror, "AGHHHHH!" "Wha!?" "White Seas, Heaven's Gate" "A hole appeared in the White White Seas!" Enel declares, "Return to your rightful place, Skypiea!" Someone observes in shock, "AND PEOPLE ARE FALLING THROUGH! THE SAME GOES FOR THE CITY OF SHANDORA BELOW!" Enel continues to laugh, "Yahaha... It's 'God's Temple,' which I formerly made my residences... Well, I no longer have any use for you either..."

Massive chunks of stone ruins and debris from the city are falling rapidly towards the lower clouds. The sheer scale of the destruction is evident as large boulders and broken structures rain down. Someone yells, "WATCH OUT!" as the debris crashes into the landscape below, causing further devastation.

The giant snake Nola roars loudly amidst the chaos. Enel, standing on his ship, reveals his true goal: "There is only one thing left I want in this country...! AND THAT IS THE GIANT GOLDEN BELL!" On the ground, Wyper reacts with shock, "Golden bell...!?" Zoro asks, "Did I hear you clearly...?" Nico Robin confirms, "Yes." Gan Fall mutters, "The bell..." In a separate location, Usopp yells in panic, "WHAT'RE YOU PLANNING!?" alongside an unconscious Chopper and a concerned Sanji.
Nico Robin explains her theory to Zoro, Wyper, and Gan Fall. She asks, "And Enel is really flying towards it...!? How do you know... Just where it is?" Wyper interrupts angrily, "WAIT! NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR THIS! WE'VE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE WHILE WE CAN!" Robin points towards the giant beanstalk and says, "See the giant stalk over there... The bell is above it." Sanji and Usopp are shown arguing, with Usopp saying, "WE PROMISED NAMI WE'D WAIT FOR HER AT THE SHIP, DIDN'T WE!?" and Sanji replying, "SHE SAID SHE'D BE BACK WITH LUFFY SOON!" Robin continues, "Right below here are the ruins of Shandora... And the giant stalk has pierced through the center of the city. However, the bell was supposed to have also been located at the center of the city, according to a map of the ruins. In other words, I can only come to the conclusion that the bell was dislodged from the city upon hitting the giant stalk and landed somewhere up higher." Usopp, standing with Luffy and Chopper, realizes, "THE CITY OF GOLD'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE A HUGE BELL, RIGHT!?" Luffy smiles broadly, looking determined.

Enel, still on his ship, notices something. "Hmm, I hear 2 voices... Approaching this way..." he says. Sanji and Usopp are shown running desperately. Sanji pants, "Dammit! Just how can he run so fast...!? I hope Nami's alright... But also..." The scene cuts to Luffy, who is sprinting forward with an intense, angry smile on his face. He declares loudly, "I WON'T LET YOU HAVE THAT GOLDEN BELL, NO MATTER WHAT, ENEL!"

This is an SBS (reader Q&A) page. A reader asks Oda to show "Nnke-kun," the partner of "Doumo-kun." Oda provides drawings of the two bizarre characters, explaining he created them in high school and hid them in an old oneshot. Another reader asks if Enel is wearing a rubber swimming cap. Oda jokingly replies that since there's no rubber on sky island, it's made of cloth. A third reader points out a small drawing of Zoro diving into a sea cloud in a previous volume. Oda responds, "Yeah, what an idiot," alongside the small panel showing Zoro diving.
