DR. KUREHA

In the snowy village, Dalton looks serious as he asks, "DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT WAPOL!?" Usopp reacts with surprise, "WHAT...!?" Vivi, looking thoughtful, replies, "HE'S THE SAME MAN I MET, BACK WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL AND FATHER TOOK ME TO THE COUNCIL OF KINGS." She adds, "YES, I REMEMBER CLEARLY NOW..." Usopp, crossing his arms, says, "BUT NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, HE DID SAY SOMETHING ABOUT DRUM KINGDOM..." He boasts slightly, "'COURSE, I WAS THE ONE WHO CHASED HIM AWAY." He then clarifies, "KNOW HIM? WE DON'T KNOW JACK OTHER THAN HIM BEING THE PIRATE WHO ATTACKED OUR SHIP...!" Dalton stares intently and asks, "ARE YOU TELLING THE TRUTH...!?" Usopp stammers, "WE CAME ACROSS HIM ONLY YESTERDAY WHILE ON OUR WAY HERE. I-IN ANY CASE! WE DID MEET WAPOL!" Vivi looks confused and asks, "AH- UMM... COUNCIL OF KINGS...!? WHO ARE YOU EXACTLY...?" The three of them stand in the snow-covered street, surrounded by the village's unique cylindrical houses.

Dalton continues his explanation, stating, "HIM BEING A PIRATE IS JUST A DISGUISE." He sits in the snow, looking grim. "HE'S MOST LIKELY BEEN LOITERING AROUND THE OCEANS HERE WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO COME BACK." Usopp, standing nearby, asks, "WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN? YOU SAID THAT THE COUNTRY WAS DESTROYED BUT THEN WHY IS THE KING ALIVE AND WELL BEING A PIRATE OUT OF ALL THINGS!?" Dalton sharply replies, "WRONG!" Vivi looks shocked and asks, "UNABLE TO FIGHT OFF...!?" She pieces it together: "SO THEN... WAPOL AND HIS MEN WERE DRIVEN OUT OF THIS ISLAND AND FORCED TO BE PIRATES, AFTER BEING UNABLE TO FIGHT OFF THE BLACKBEARD PIRATES..." Usopp is stunned, "WHAT?" Dalton, sitting heavily in the snow, confirms, "THE KING AND HIS SOLDIERS DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO MOUNT A RESISTANCE! BACK WHEN THE PIRATES ATTACKED THIS COUNTRY,"

Dalton's face contorts with intense anger, his teeth gritting as he recalls the past. "ONCE WAPOL REALIZED JUST HOW STRONG THE PIRATES WERE, HE SIMPLY ABANDONED HIS OWN COUNTRY, BY IMMEDIATELY TAKING OFF TO THE SEAS FASTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!" Vivi's eyes widen in absolute shock and disgust as she yells, "AND HE CALLS HIMSELF A KING!?" Usopp, looking somber, adds, "ALL THE CITIZENS WERE DISMAYED BY SUCH AN ACT OF COWARDICE COMMITTED BY THEIR OWN KING..." Vivi looks down, deeply troubled, "IT'S BEYOND CRUEL.... HOW COULD THE KING JUST ABANDON HIS PEOPLE..." Usopp looks at her with concern, "VIVI..." Dalton remains silent, his expression dark and brooding as he sits in the snow.

Dalton looks up, his expression resolute. "BUT THANKS TO THAT, WAPOL'S REIGN OF TYRANNY FINALLY CAME TO AN END." Usopp agrees quietly, "EXACTLY..." Dalton continues, "THIS ISLAND NOW BELONGS TO THOSE OF US WHO REMAINED BEHIND...! THE TOWNS ARE SLOWLY BEGINNING TO RECOVER, AND WE'RE NOW IN THE MIDST OF FORGING A NEW COUNTRY." He emphasizes the danger: "THAT IS WHY THE THING WE DREAD THE MOST IS WAPOL'S RETURN. AT THIS TIME OF GREAT UNREST AND UNEASINESS, WE MUST PREVENT THAT AT ALL COSTS!" Dalton then bows deeply, pressing his forehead into the snow in a gesture of desperate plea. "WE MUST...! FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREATING A BETTER COUNTRY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW,"

In a snowy forest, Sanji and Luffy trudge through the deep snow. Luffy is carrying a sick Nami on his back. The wind howls around them. Sanji, shivering, yells, "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING SANDALS IN THIS WEATHER? JUST LOOKING AT'EM IS MAKING ME FEEL COLD!" Luffy replies casually, "IT'S GETTING PRETTY COLD WITH ALL THIS WIND..." Suddenly, a large, dark shadow with glowing eyes appears behind a snow-covered tree, emitting a low growl: "GRRRR...." Sanji ignores it and says, "IT'S CALLED 'POLICY.' THAT'S JUST MY POLICE!" Luffy asks, "OH IS IT?" Sanji continues, "AND WHY IS THAT? BECAUSE THEY'LL DIE IF THEY DO." Luffy, looking curious, asks, "IN ANY CASE, DID YA KNOW THAT PEOPLE IN SNOWY COUNTRIES DON'T SLEEP?"

Sanji scoffs at Luffy's question, "THAT'S THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD." Luffy insists, "IT'S TRUE. THAT'S WHAT A GUY ONCE TOLD ME." Sanji asks, "WHO, USOPP?" Luffy replies, "NOPE, FROM A GUY IN A BAR." Suddenly, a giant white rabbit leaps out from the snow with a fierce roar, "RAA-WWR!" The rabbit growls menacingly, "GRRR!" Luffy questions, "THEN WHY WAS THERE A BED IN THAT DALTON DUDE'S HOME?" Sanji realizes the logic, "YOU'RE RIGHT! THEN THAT MUST BE WHEN IT'S TIME FOR HIM TO DIE..." Luffy yells back, "THAT'S EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS!" The giant rabbit smashes the ground near them, "CRACK... GRRRRR!" It lands heavily with a loud thud. Sanji then asks, "WELL, LET ME ASK YOU THIS. DID YOU KNOW THAT THE WOMEN OF SNOWY COUNTRIES ALL HAVE BEAUTIFUL SMOOTH SKIN?" Luffy asks, "WHY'S THAT?" Sanji replies, "ISN'T THAT OBVIOUS?"

Sanji kicks the giant rabbit away with a powerful strike, "POW!!" He continues his explanation, "YOU KNOW HOW WHEN IT'S COLD, YOU RUB YOUR SKIN TOGETHER? WELL THAT'S WHY." He adds, "HAVING SMOOTH WHITE SKIN IS THE TRADEMARK OF WOMEN IN SNOWY COUNTRIES." Luffy asks, "WHY WHITE?" The rabbit bounces back, growling, "RAWR! GRRR." Sanji answers, "THAT'S BECAUSE THE COLOUR OF THE SNOW SEEPS INSIDE THEIR SKIN." Luffy deadpans, "YOU'RE PRETTY STUPID, Y'KNOW." Sanji snaps back, "YOU'RE THE LAST PERSON I WANT TO HEAR THAT FROM! IN ANY CASE-" The rabbit roars again, "RAWR!" Sanji, annoyed, delivers a massive kick to the rabbit, sending it crashing into the snow with a loud "DOOOM!" He yells, "WOULD YOU FREAKIN' KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY!" Luffy, watching the rabbit fly, asks, "WHAT'S UP WITH THAT RABBIT?"

Sanji and Luffy continue walking through the snow. Sanji warns, "HEY, LUFFY. BE MORE CAREFUL WHEN RUNNING OR NAMI'S BODY WON'T HOLD UP." Luffy, trudging through the deep drifts, replies, "THE SNOW'S REAL THICK 'ROUND HERE." Sanji reassures Nami, "WE'LL GET YOU TO A DOCTOR SOON." Luffy adds, "HANG IN THERE, NAMI." Suddenly, Sanji stops and exclaims, "THE HELL!?" Luffy looks up, "HM?" A massive pack of giant white rabbits, the Lapins, emerges from the snowy forest, blocking their path. They stand tall, glaring menacingly. Sanji observes, "THEY'RE WHITE AND BIG SO THEY GOTTA BE POLAR BEARS!" Luffy, confused, asks, "WHAT ARE THESE THINGS...?"

Back in the village, Usopp is shocked by Dalton's description. "BODY OF BEARS!?" Dalton confirms, "YES... AGILE AS NORMAL RABBITS BUT WITH THE BODY OF BEARS. AND THEY HAPPEN TO HUNT IN PACKS AS WELL." Vivi asks nervously, "YOU SAID THEY'RE CARNIVOROUS BUT THEY'RE STILL JUST RABBITS, RIGHT?" Dalton replies grimly, "I JUST HOPE THEY DON'T COME ACROSS ANY LAPINS..." Vivi worries, "I WONDER IF THEY'RE ALRIGHT..." Suddenly, a villager runs up, shouting, "DALTON!" Vivi stammers, "A-ARE THEY REALLY THAT BIG...?" The villager reports, "YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THE DOCTOR, WEREN'T YOU?" Dalton replies, "YES, BUT THE PATIENT HAS ALREADY-" The villager interrupts with good news, "WELL GOOD, BECAUSE SHE JUST CAME DOWN TO THE NEIGHBOURING VILLAGE!" Dalton and Usopp both yell in surprise, "WHAT!?"

Out at sea, Wapol is looking through a telescope on his ship. He asks, "WHAT IS IT, CHESS!? DID YOU SPOT THOSE PIRATES FROM YESTERDAY!?" Chess replies, "YOUR MAJESTY! AH!" Wapol continues, "AFTER MANY MONTHS OF PERSEVERANCE," but is interrupted by Chess. "WHAT!?" Wapol asks. Chess says, "WE'VE FINALLY RETURNED AT LAST. NO BUT LOOK, YOUR MAJESTY!" Wapol's large, submarine-like ship approaches a snowy island. Wapol exclaims, "REALLY!?" Chess announces proudly, "WE'VE REACHED OUR HOMELAND, DRUM ISLAND!" The ship sails towards the snowy coast with a loud "UOOOOOH!! DOOOM!!"

A text box reads, "AT THE NEIGHBOURING VILLAGE OF COCOA WEED." Outside a restaurant named "STOOL," a child's loud crying can be heard: "WAAAA-AAAH!" Inside, an angry patron yells, "DO SOMETHING 'BOUT YOUR DAMN KID ALREADY! HIS CRYING IS GETTING ON MY NERVES!" The father apologizes, "SORRY ABOUT THE DISTURBANCE, SIR." He then calls to the barkeep, "HEY, BARKEEP!" The father scolds his crying son, Tamachibi, "IF YOU DON'T STOP YOUR CRYING, I'LL HAVE YOU STAND OUTSIDE! SAY SOMETHING!" The barkeep replies, "I CAN'T HELP YOU IF YOU ONLY KEEP ON CRYING. AND YOU'RE BOTHERING ALL THE CUSTOMERS!" The father asks with concern, "TAMACHIBI! WHAT IS IT, ARE YOU HURT SOMEWHERE?" Outside in the snow, two figures approach the restaurant. A voice says, "EVEN THOUGH A CHILD'S UNRELENTING CRY IS THE SUREST SIGN OF A DISEASE... HEE HEE HEE HEE. OH? DID YOU HEAR THAT, CHOPPER?"

Outside the Stool restaurant, Dr. Kureha stands in the snow, accompanied by Chopper in his reindeer form. She remarks, "IT SEEMS WE'VE GOT QUITE THE CRUEL FATHER. LOOKS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM HERE..." She tells Chopper, "STAND BACK." With a powerful kick, she smashes the restaurant door open, sending debris flying with a loud "BAAAM!!" She announces her arrival loudly, "DON'T MIND THE INTRUSION!" The patrons inside are startled, reacting with shock: "!!?"

Dr. Kureha stands confidently in the doorway, laughing, "HEEEEEEHEE HEEHEE! HAPPY, PAPPY?" She is an elderly woman wearing sunglasses, a midriff-baring top, a jacket, and low-rise pants. A text box introduces her: "MASTER OF DOCTORS DR. KUREHA AGE 139". The villagers inside the restaurant are terrified, stammering, "D-D-D-D-D-DOCTOR KUREHA!" Behind her, Chopper walks in. Another text box introduces him: "DR. KUREHA'S BELOVED REINDEER TONY TONY CHOPPER".

A villager whispers in fear, "WE DIDN'T EVEN ASK!" Kureha grins and asks the room, "YOU WANT TO KNOW THE SECRET OF MY YOUTH!?" Another villager sweats, thinking, "TO THINK THAT'S ACTUALLY A 140 YEAR-OLD GRANNY..." Kureha sharply corrects him, "I'M STILL ONLY 139!" The villager recoils, "ACK!" Kureha then turns her attention to the crying boy and asks, "SHALL I TREAT HIM?" The father is confused, "WHAT? BUT HE'S NOT EVEN SICK!" Kureha leans in with a sinister smile, "OH? AND ARE YOU A DOCTOR?" The father stammers, "W-WAIT!" Kureha turns away, "FINE. LET'S GO, CHOPPER."

The father hesitates, "IS THAT SO..." Kureha approaches Tamachibi, who cries, "MY HANDS HURT..." Kureha touches his leg and asks, "THEN HOW'S THIS?" Tamachibi screams in agony, "AHH! MY LEG!" The father is furious, "BUT YOU FORGOT ABOUT HOW MUCH YOUR HANDS HURT, DIDN'T YOU? HEE HEE HEE! THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO MY SON!?" Kureha calmly explains, "I ONLY LIGHTLY TOUCHED HIS LEG BUT HIS LIMBS SEEM TO BE IN QUITE A BIT OF PAIN. NO FEVER BUT LOOKS LIKE WE'VE GOT A PYOGENIC INFLAMMATION ON THE LEG. MUST BE A BACTERIAL INFECTION IN THE BONES." She tells the father, "FINE, I'LL STOP. HAPPY, PAPPY? NOW STAY STILL FOR A MOMENT." The father, now worried, asks, "W-WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY BOY, DOCTOR?" Kureha reassures him, "THIS DISEASE CAN STILL BE TREATED WHILE IN ITS EARLY PHASE. DON'T WORRY, YOUR BOY'LL RECOVER. BUT HE WAS ON THE VERGE OF DEATH." The father is shocked, "WHAT!? HE WAS!?" Kureha commands, "CHOPPER! GET ME MY ANTIBIOTICS!"

Kureha begins the treatment. "STAY STILL WHILE I MAKE A SMALL INCISION." Tamachibi screams, "GYAAA!" The father panics, "SHOULDN'T YOU BE USING ANAESTHETICS!?" Kureha ignores him, "NOW FOR A SHOT." Tamachibi cries out again, "AHHHHHH!" The father yells, "YOU'RE KILLING MY BOY!" Kureha finishes, "MY DRUGS ARE QUITE EFFECTIVE SO THIS IS ENOUGH FOR HIS TREATMENT! JUST TIE SOME BANDAGES TIGHTLY AROUND HIS LEG AFTERWARDS. HE'LL FEEL MUCH BETTER ONCE THE CAST HARDENS." The father sighs in relief, "OH..." Kureha then lists her demands, "AS FOR MY PAYMENT... AH, THAT'S RIGHT. I WAS RUNNING LOW ON GARBAGE BAGS AND TOILET PAPER. WHAT ELSE... SOME FOOD, RUM, AND... 50% OF ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE." The father is outraged, "WHA! YOU'RE TAKING 50% OF MY MONEY!?" Kureha tells Chopper, "CARRY THESE OUT. CHOPPER." The father accuses her, "DON'T LET HER CON YOU! WHAT'S ALL THIS BULL ABOUT THE KID BEING ON THE VERGE OF DEATH!? HE WAS PROBABLY ONLY CRYING BECAUSE HE TRIPPED OR SOMETHING. YOU THINK WE DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A DOCTOR AND WE'RE NOT!?"

The angry patron chimes in, "AIN'T THAT RIGHT!? YOU'RE JUST TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE'S WEAKNESSES! YOU 140 YEAR-OLD SENILE HAG!" Chopper growls fiercely at the patron, "GRR!" Kureha calmly tells him, "STOP IT, CHOPPER. THEY'RE NOTHING BUT BRATS WHO DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER." The father mutters, "GRANNY..." Suddenly, Tamachibi smiles brightly, tears in his eyes, and says, "I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW... THANK YOU VERY MUCH." The father looks at his son in stunned silence.

Kureha smiles warmly, "HEEHEE HEEHEE! THAT WAS A NICE LITTLE GIFT." She tells the father, "FINE, I'LL LOWER IT TO JUST 49%." The father, humbled, replies, "I'LL... I'LL PAY THE MONEY... THANK YOU, DOCTOR." Kureha and Chopper head for the door. She calls back, "HEY, KID!" As they ride away on a sled pulled by Chopper, Kureha shouts, "DON'T YOU FORGET, ABOUT THAT SENSE OF HAPPINESS JUST NOW!"
