Adventure on Little Garden

Nami stands on the deck, explaining the Grand Line's weather. "Well, it's not like it never snows or anything, but that part of Grand Line up to the very first island is special. The 7 magnetic fields that stretch from Reverse Mountain clash together to make things even more unpredictable." The Going Merry sails peacefully on calm waters under a clear sky. Nami continues her lecture, "So you can't let down your guard even for a minute. Even though it would be quite rare to encounter such bizarre conditions once you've passed the first island, Grand Line is still by far the most difficult ocean to navigate on. So it's absolutely imperative that you never underestimate this sea!" Below her, the crew is completely relaxed on the deck under a parasol, ignoring her warnings. Sanji holds a tray of drinks and asks, "Anybody up for some special drinks!?" Luffy, Usopp, and Karoo cheer enthusiastically, "You bet we are!" and "Quack!" Large text across the bottom reads "RELAX!!" Nami looks down at them, speechless and annoyed, with a string of dots in her speech bubble.

Nami sighs, holding a drink with a straw, and says, "They'll work hard when we come across rough seas. It's not like they want to die or anything. Here." She hands a drink to Vivi. Vivi looks concerned and asks, "Are you sure things'll be fine like this!?" Nami replies calmly, "It'll be fine." On the deck, the crew enjoys their drinks. Sanji notices Karoo and says, "Oh, looks like this duck knows how to drink!" Karoo quacks happily. Luffy, holding a glass, says, "Tastes good, right? Drink up, buddy!" Luffy then turns to Usopp, "Hey, Usopp. Can you make us some fishing rods?" Usopp replies confidently, "Sure thing! Let me just fire up my ol' artistic skills to create masterwork fishing r-" Sanji adds, "Fishing, eh? Not a bad idea." Vivi watches them, sweating nervously, "But at this rate... we might be caught unaware." Nami smiles, winking at Vivi, "That's... true... Being on this ship, sure makes you lose the will to even worry, doesn't it?" Vivi looks at her, speechless.

Nami leans against the ship's railing, sipping her drink and smiling. "Yes... It is quite relaxing..." A bird caws in the background. Suddenly, Sanji points out to the sea, "Hey, look! It's a dolphin!" Luffy and Usopp look over the railing with interest. Sanji smiles, "Oh! Oh, it's so cu..." A dolphin leaps out of the water with a splash, sparkling in the sunlight as it arcs through the air.

The dolphin is revealed to be absolutely massive, towering over the Going Merry like a sea monster. It has a giant, round head and sharp teeth. Sanji yells in shock, "IT'S FREAKIN' HUGE!" The giant dolphin crashes back into the water, creating massive waves that violently rock the ship. Luffy yells, "Let's run away!" Usopp panics, "Aye-aye, Cap'n!" The crew scrambles on deck. Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji frantically pull on ropes to adjust the sails and steer the ship away from the giant creature.

The Log Pose on Nami's wrist points steadily forward. Nami looks at it and says, "There's no doubt about it. Our next destination is... That island!" The Going Merry approaches a large island with tall, jagged mountains rising from the sea. Large text announces: "OUR SECOND ISLAND ON GRAND LINE!"

The crew looks at the island from the ship. Vivi says, "We should be careful... I'm worried about what Ms. All-Sunday said about this island." Usopp stammers, sweating, "Y-y-you don't think there are monsters here, do you?" Sanji replies, "Beats me. But we gotta stock up on some food pretty soon. I wasn't able to restock at all at the last town." The island is covered in a dense, towering jungle with massive palm trees and thick vegetation. Sanji observes, "But man, just look at this place... It's like a land yet to be explored by people. The entire island is a thick jungle." Nami adds, "I can't say I see anything that would deserve such a cute name like that though... Just what about this island is little?" A caption reads: "So this is Little Garden...!"

A loud screeching sound, "GYAAA! GYAAA!", startles the crew. Nami screams, "KYAAA!" Nami looks toward the jungle and says, "And look! I've never seen any plants like these even in my encyclopedia!" Sanji then swoons over Nami, "Terrified Nami is sooo cute!" Nami asks, "What was that just now!?" Sanji reassures her, "Don't worry, it's just a normal bird. And even this island, is nothing but your average jungle!" A large, prehistoric-looking bird with leathery wings and a toothed beak flies overhead, screeching "GYAAA!" Luffy looks at it in confusion, "A lizard...?"

A massive, booming sound echoes from the island: "DON!!" The crew on the ship jumps in surprise. Nami yells, "Does this sound like your average jungle!? That sounded like a volcano exploding or something!" In the dense jungle, a large saber-toothed tiger lies dead and bleeding heavily on the ground. The bushes rustle nearby. Luffy hears a low growl, "Grrrr..." and notices the rustling, "A tiger!?"

Nami declares, "This is definitely not normal! Otherwise, why would a tiger, king of the jungle, collapse covered in its own blood!?" Usopp agrees, sweating nervously. Nami continues, "Alright, then it's decided. We are to not set foot on this island! Let's just quietly wait on our ship, and leave the very second our Log Pose finishes recording! After all, we have to hurry on to Alabasta as soon as possible." Luffy calls out, "Sanji! Prepare a lunchbox!" Sanji, smoking, asks, "A lunchbox?" Luffy clarifies, "Yeah, a pirate lunchbox*!" An asterisk note says: "*A pirate lunchbox has no vegetables for maximum energy." Luffy grins widely, his eyes shining with excitement, and shouts, "I SMELL ADVENTURE AHEAD!"

Luffy's voice calls out, "Sanji! Prepare my lunchbox!" Sanji replies, "Alright, just hang on a moment." Nami panics, "Oh no, it's too late to stop him. He's too fired up!" Luffy, wearing a backpack, laughs, "On an adventure! Shishishi! Wanna come along?" Nami yells at him, "W-wait just a second! Where do you think you're going?" Vivi suddenly speaks up, "Could I come along with you!?" Luffy is surprised, "Sure, sure! Even you!?" Vivi explains, "Yes... Just standing around here doing nothing is only going to end up making me think about my worries again. So I may as well try to clear my head until the Log Pose finishes recording!" Sanji swoons, "Then allow me to make a lunchbox of love for you, Vivi." Vivi asks, "Could you also make another drink for Carue as well?" Karoo the duck looks terrified, shaking violently. Vivi reassures him, "It'll be fine! Carue will be by my side, after all." Sanji notes, "Your trusty bodyguard looks too scared to even quack..."

Luffy steps onto the railing of the ship, ready to disembark. "Alright, let's go! We'll be back!" He jumps off the ship with a loud "DON!!" Zoro, who was sleeping, wakes up and stretches. Nami says, "That Miss Wednesday's got some guts. I guess it's expected of one who infiltrated Baroque Works." Zoro says, "Well, since I'm not doing anything either, I'll go for a walk." Usopp is shocked, "A walk!?" Sanji calls out, "Yo Zoro, wait!"

Sanji stops Zoro, "Wait right there!" Zoro turns back, "Hm?" Sanji says, "We're running out of food onboard so if you see any animals that look to be edible, can you hunt it down and bring it back?" Zoro agrees, "Sure thing. I'll go hunt for some animals that you'd never be able to kill yourself." Sanji gets annoyed, "Huh? Did I hear you wrong, or did you just imply that you could hunt a bigger game than I can...?" Zoro smirks, hand on his sword, "Isn't that obvious?" Sanji gets angry, "That's it! I challenge you at hunting!"

Sanji declares, "Whoever brings back the most kilograms of meat will be the winner!" Zoro replies, "Fine by me. Though in my case, it'll be tonnes of meat." They both walk off into the jungle. Nami and Usopp are left behind on the ship, crying streams of tears. Nami sobs, "Why does everyone on this ship have to be like that..." Usopp cries, "I know exactly how you feel, Nami. Don't cry, at least I'm by your side..." The Going Merry sits quietly anchored near the jungle shore. Usopp yells, "Why can't you be a little more dependable?" Nami yells back, "That's my line!"

Nami stops crying and thinks, "Wait a second... I feel like I've read this in a book before... I'm sure I've heard of it... Heard of what? Of Little Garden." Meanwhile, in the jungle, Luffy and Vivi are exploring. Luffy holds up a strange creature, "Hey, check this out! There's a clam that looks like a squid!" Vivi says, "This looks like... an ammonite if you ask me..." Luffy calls it, "A clam-squid, right?" Back on the ship, Nami is frantically searching through a bookshelf, throwing books around. "Not this. Not that. Ah. Where'd I put it... Shoot, I can't remember! I know I read it pretty recently..."

In the jungle, a massive, long-necked dinosaur (a brontosaurus) towers over the trees. Luffy and Vivi look up in absolute shock. Vivi screams, "It's a dinosaur!" Luffy yells, "A dinosaur!?" He wonders, "Why's there a Sea King on land?"

Back on the ship, Nami realizes, "That means... this is a prehistoric island! Huh? This island's still stuck in the age of dinosaurs! Because of the difficulty in navigating from one island to another on Grand Line, foreign interaction is rare, giving rise to unique cultures on each island. So if there are islands on which highly advanced people live... then there can also be islands on which time has stopped still for thousands and thousands of years! This is all possible due to Grand Line's chaotic climate! And so... this island is one such product of Grand Line's chaos... It's an island trapped back in the age of dinosaurs!" In the jungle, Luffy is thrilled, "Awesome!" He tries to climb the dinosaur's leg. Vivi panics, "Don't ride on it!" On the ship, Nami calls out, "Usopp! Usopp!" Usopp replies, "What, did you find the book?"

Nami looks terrified, sweating profusely. "We're in trouble! On this island..." Behind the Going Merry, a colossal, shadowy figure emerges from the jungle, towering over the trees and the ship. The trees crack and rustle loudly. A flock of birds flies away in panic, screeching "AHHHHHHHHH! GYAAAAAAA!" Nami holds an open book titled "Brag Men". A passage from the book reads: "To its inhabitants, this island is like a little garden. An island of giants, 'Little Garden.' That is what I have decided to name this island. -Explorer Louis Arnote-"
