The Sea Train

A large crowd gathers in front of a towering ship under construction in a bustling port town. Voices shout angrily: "'CAUSE HE BUILT A PIRATE SHIP!!!" and "TOM'S GOING TO BE EXECUTED!!!" A man in a black tank top gestures wildly while speaking. In the next panel, a young man with a bandana yells "TOM-SAN!!!" while a massive fishman-like figure with horns and sharp teeth stares silently with "......". The judge, an elderly man with a long beard and black robe holding a gavel, declares: "ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED HIS PIRACY, EVEN A LITTLE, WILL BE SEEN AS DANGEROUS. NORMALLY, CARPENTERS ARE NOT CHARGED FOR THE SHIPS THEY CONSTRUCT, BUT THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE PIRATE KING. THIS IS SPECIAL CASE."

Inside a grand courtroom, the judge orders "RIGHT NOW...!! PLEASE ESCORT THE CRIMINAL." and "THUS, THIS EXECUTION." Tom sits bound in a large chair as guards stand ready. A bystander reacts with "!I". Tom then speaks passionately: "THAT WILL RUN ON TRACKS ON THE SURFACE OF THE SEA WITH A DON! I AM DEVELOPING PLANS FOR A STEAM ENGINE PADDLE SHIP..." Outside, a crowd reacts with shock and anger. One man shouts "HEY, WHAT'RE YOU DOINGI!!" while another explains the island's situation: "LET'S SAY THAT THE REASON THIS ISLAND IS SO DISUSED......IS BECAUSE OF THE BAD TRADE. AND THE FEELINGS OF THE TOWNS PEOPLE WHOSE HEARTS HAVE GROWN WILD... ARE THE CONCERN FOR THIS SINKING ISLAND..."

The scene shifts to a flooded street in Water Seven where a man in a hat sits drinking from a bottle. Speech bubbles continue: "...OF WATER SEVEN!!!" "...WILL SOMEDAY BE THE SAVIOUR..." "THE OPENING OF THE SEA TRAIN..." Citizens react in the streets: "THE TRAIN...!!! IT WILL PUFF OUT SMOKE, AND RUN ON THE SEA TRACKS FROM ISLAND TO ISLAND!" "SEA TRAIN"...I" "WAIT. EXCUSE US!! WE'LL TAKE HIM RIGHT AWAY!!!" Arguments erupt: "WHAT ABOUT THE SEA KINGS, AND AQUA LAGUNA!!I" "WHAT'RE YOU BLABBERING THIS NONSENSE ABOUT... I'M ASHAMED AS A CARPENTER." "ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO CROSS THE SEA AT WILL....UNAFFECTED BY THE WEATHER... IT WILL CARRY PEOPLE, THINGS, EVEN SHIPS..." A woman with goggles and a man with curly hair listen intently amid the chaos.

In a packed assembly hall, voices debate the radical proposal. "And it won't go against the waves. Won't need repairs. It will sway a little below the surface of the water. The sea tracks... The tracks will just be destroyed and that'll be the end!!" A massive figure with a wild beard and captain's hat leans forward, eyes blazing. "I've also thought up a device between the tracks and the paddles that will make a dissonance that the fish won't like. There will be no use for logs. The 'Sea Train' will only use the tracks as a guide, like drawing in a rope." The speaker continues, "It's enough so that the trade between the islands will stabilize and grow. There are three islands that will be connected. 'Saint Popla,' 'Pucchi,' and 'San Faldo.' So then, the sea kings will hate the tracks, and they won't go near it." A woman clasps her hands, whispering, "It sounds wonderful!" Another voice stammers, "You can do that...!I"

Tom looms large, declaring, "But it's not so simple that a normal shipwright can do it. The blueprint will be done soon." Nearby, stern-faced men in Marine caps react with surprise; one mutters "Gok," while another asks, "It's possible. Your honor, can you connect to Enies LobbyI" The hall erupts with realization. "...Is Water Seven's hope!!! The 'Sea Train'... Interaction between all the islands of the world will change. If this technique is completed with a don, and it goes over the ocean," the narration builds as the grand blueprint of the Sea Train is unveiled against the skyline of Water Seven, its massive structure spanning the waves.

Shock ripples through the spectators. A bespectacled man and others stare in stunned silence as SFX "L" and "un" mark the tension. Tom slams his gavel with a resounding "Kon kon," roaring, "Then make it!!! Ten years." An official demands, "How long will it takeI" Tom announces, "I declare a stay of execution of ten years for shipwright Tom!!! With the condition of developing the 'Sea Train'..." The crowd erupts in cheers: "Good luck Tom!!" as the massive structure of Enies Lobby looms in the background amid dramatic impact lines and the sound "Waaaaah."

Tom bursts into wild laughter, "I'm still alive. Taha!!!" In a lively bar, the group celebrates. A long-nosed man with goggles exclaims, "Nma!! As expected of Tom-san! I never knew you were thinking of such a great thing!!" A woman adds, "Everyone was overwhelmed, the 'Sea Train'!!!" Tom muses while eating, "But if this goes well, they might even forget about the Roger thing. Thinking it was your time... It's not a laughing matter, Tom-san. It sent shivers down my spine." The long-nosed man sulks until someone yells, "Hey Franky!! What's wrong with youI Why're you sulking!!" Yokozuna the frog shouts "Gero!!" as Franky storms off, and a voice calls, "I'll teach you the crawl stroke!! Thanks for the meal!! Come, Yokozuna!!"

Franky screams with wild eyes and spiky hair, "...THAT WENT THE WHOLE WAY AROUND THE GRANDLINE!!! WHY SHOULD TOM-SAN, WHO BUILT SUCH A GREAT SHIP, HAVE TO BE EXECUTED FOR ITI!" A voice yells back, "SHUT UP!! I'M ANGRY AT EVERYTHING!!! THE SHIP THAT GOLD ROGER WAS ON IS THE ONLY SHIP..." Franky continues raging, "...IS BECAUSE THE PEOPLE IN THE TOWN CHASED US HERE 'CAUSE OF THE ROGER THING!!! I KNOW!! THE REASON WHY THE COMPANY'S UNDER SOME BRIDGE..." In the background, young Iceburg walks away with Kokoro as someone mutters "....." Franky shouts, "EVERYBODY'S SAYING IT LIKE IT'S NORMAL!!! EVEN THE IDIOTS WHO CAN'T MAKE A SIMPLE RAFT!!!" Tom grabs Franky by the head with a loud "GRAB" and "カアァァン!!" while Franky yells, "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE HITTING!! BAKANKY, I WON'T LET YOU!!!" Tom laughs, "TAHA!!!...!!...!!...!! YOU HORNED RACCOON!!!" Franky protests, "I CAN'T FORGIVE THE FACT THAT THE PERSON IN QUESTION'S LIKE THIS!!!" Tom glares silently with "....."

Franky is hurled into the water with a splash as Tom watches from the dock near the Tom's Workers building. Tom remarks, "HE'S JUST FAIRLY STRAIGHT... THOUGH THE STUFF HE MAKES IS REALLY DANGEROUS, HIS SHIP BUILDING SKILLS ARE VERY CLOSE TO THE ISLAND'S WORKERS." Kokoro says, "DON'T SAY THAT. HE'S PART OF OUR GROUP. I HATE THAT GUY!!" Iceburg adds, "WE SHOULD JUST TOSS THAT MORON." Franky surfaces dramatically, shouting, "I GOT TOSSED!!!" and "OSSAN!! TAKE ME IN!!" Tom notes, "HE BUILT A CANNON OUT OF SCRAP." Kokoro reflects, "I WAS SURPRISED BY THIS KID WHO ARRIVED AT THE SCRAP ISLAND."

Kokoro sits with a teardrop as Tom says, "A PIECE OF WORK. TA...!!...!!...!!...!!...!!...!!" Tom continues, "I THINK THEY WERE LIKELY PIRATES. WHEN I ASKED, HE SAID HE WAS 'A BRAT WHO JUST CAN'T BE BOTHERED WITH', AND THAT HIS PARENTS TOSSED HIM OFF THE SHIP." Tom advises, "SO BE NICE....BECOME SHIP BUILDERS WHO WILL GO OUT INTO THE WORLD. YOU TWO... WILL SOMEDAY... YET STILL NOT SHAPED. HE'S STURDY..." Iceburg replies firmly, "...FRANKY CAN'T DO IT! HE'S CRAZY TO THE CORE." Tom laughs, "TAHA... WHEN THE BLUEPRINT FOR THE SEA TRAIN IS FINISHED... WE'LL START BUILDING IT." Franky yells from the wreckage, "TA HA!!!!...!!... HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE LIKES." Iceburg answers, "..... I DON'T THINK HE'LL HELP, THOUGH. YEAH!!"

Inside the workshop, Tom studies Sea Train blueprints on the wall while young Iceburg watches. Franky bursts in with a loud "ばんっ!!" Tom turns with a grin. Outside in the scrapyard, Tom and Franky clash amid flying logs and debris; Tom swings massive timbers as Franky is sent flying. Franky charges back with intense focus. In the distance, Iceburg stands alone on the docks watching the chaos unfold among the scattered wreckage and rising smoke.

A helmeted shipwright grips a large pipe while standing beside the Battle Franky 9, a small bird perched nearby. A spiky-haired man stares in wide-eyed shock. Below, dockside workers gather around a massive, round-bodied man in a floral-patterned outfit who sits laughing heartily with a pipe in his mouth. A long-haired man with a headband watches with arms crossed. In close-ups, the long-haired man grins confidently, the large man bares sharp teeth while gripping a weapon, and a worker hammers at a cannon-like device on a stand.

The large patterned man is drenched as water pours over him. Nearby, a long-haired worker points urgently toward a massive sea train on the tracks. The large man clutches his head in panic while a small figure clings to him. A spiky-haired man and a frog-like creature react with alarm. The sea train barrels forward, smashing through debris as the large man and others are thrown about. A shark-like creature bursts from the water near a small boat where a long-haired man rows desperately.

Explosions rock the area as the large patterned man is blasted backward with debris flying. The helmeted shipwright looks on grimly. The Battle Franky 9 tumbles through the air amid smoke and sparks. The large man sweats heavily while shielding himself. The spiky-haired man and helmeted shipwright stand tense as the machine crashes. In the background, a cloaked figure swings a massive hammer while workers struggle to control the damaged vehicle.

Narration boxes explain the island's growing isolation and the Sea Train's construction ten years ago. A cloaked figure shouts "DON'T DO SUCH A STUPID THING!!!" while another yells "LET ME DIE!!" Citizens discuss the rising sea level, lack of materials, and the closed dock. One man asks "SUICIDE.....I" A crowd reacts in panic as someone shouts "HEY!! DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE SEA TRAINI!" A woman cries "WAAAAAH!!" while others lament "YOU CAN'T GO OUTSIDE, THE PIRATES ARE IN THE STREETS" and "THIS IS HORRIBLE... THIS ISLAND'S FINISHED."

A steam locomotive Sea Train sits on tracks amid a ruined cityscape as voices shout in protest. "TOM, COME OUT! AREN'T YOU GOING TO EXPLAIN!I" "ME TOO!!" "I'M GETTING ON!!" "BUT IT'S MADE BY A CRIMINAL, IT'S DANGEROUS!!" "DOES IT REALLY RUN!I THIS WEIRD SHIP!!" "TOM'S WORKERS......!!" A caption declares "FINISHED BUILDING THE SEA TRAIN!!I" The train lurches forward with dramatic speed lines and smoke: "GET ON!!!" "WE'RE DEPARTING!!!" Terrified faces react as the wheels grip the tracks. "IT'S GRASPED TO THE TRACKS......" "THE PADDLE......" "IT MOVED......" A narration box states "THIS STORY HAPPENED 12 YEARS AGO......" Another reads "THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME......"

Passengers cling desperately inside the speeding Sea Train as it races through the city. "WHEN THE SEA TRAIN, PUFFING TOM," A caption notes "CARRYING THE TROUBLED PEOPLE......" The train bursts out of the station with massive smoke and motion lines "CROSSED THE SEA." A wide panel shows the long train gliding across open water under clouds, leaving the closed-off town behind. Narration concludes "......AWAY FROM THE DISUSED AND CLOSED OFF TOWN,"
