Nami

A small boat drifts on the open ocean under a partly cloudy sky. From the boat, a voice complains, "I'M STARVING!" while another simply replies, "...". Inside the boat, Zoro sits across from Luffy. Zoro asks, "DON'T YOU THINK IT'S STRANGE THAT YOU CAN'T NAVIGATE?" Luffy, sitting comfortably, replies, "NO, DRIFTING HAS WORKED PRETTY WELL FOR ME." Zoro looks annoyed and points out, "WHAT ABOUT YOU? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE HOLY TERROR OF THE SEAS!" Luffy casually responds, "I DON'T RECALL EVER CALLING MYSELF THAT." Zoro explains his own situation: "I FOLLOWED A PIRATE I WAS AFTER OUT TO SEA. BUT I COULDN'T FIND MY WAY BACK TO MY VILLAGE."

Luffy laughs at Zoro's explanation, saying, "HMPH! SO YOU GOT LOST?" Zoro yells back angrily, his face exaggerated, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUT IT LIKE THAT!" Zoro calms down and continues, "SO I MADE THE BEST OF THINGS. I WENT AFTER PIRATES THAT WERE IN THE AREA. I HAD TO EARN MONEY SOMEHOW..." Zoro sits in the boat, looking down thoughtfully. "ANYWAY, WHAT KIND OF A PIRATE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE A SHIP? IT'S RIDICULOUS! AT THIS RATE, WE'LL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE GRAND LINE. WE'VE GOT TO RECRUIT A NAVIGATOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." Suddenly, Luffy flops onto his back on the floor of the boat with a "FLOP FLOP", complaining again, "I'M STARVING!" He then sits up, holding up his fingers as he lists off, "AND WE NEED A COOK, AND A MUSICIAN, AND--" Zoro interrupts him, yelling with sharp, angry teeth, "THOSE CAN WAIT!!"

High in the sky, a large bird flies overhead with a "FWAP FWAP". From the boat, a voice notices, "HEY... IT'S A BIRD..." and another adds, "IT LOOKS PRETTY BIG..." Zoro looks up with a determined expression and says, "LET'S EAT IT!!" Luffy looks surprised and asks, "HUH? HOW?" Luffy quickly comes up with a plan. He grabs the sides of the boat and stretches his arms far back, preparing an attack. "LEAVE IT TO ME! I'LL CATCH IT!!" he declares, winding up with a "VREEENG" sound and calling out, "GUM-GUM..." With a massive "BOING", Luffy launches himself high into the air like a slingshot, shouting "ROCKET!!!" as he flies straight up towards the large bird.

Zoro stands in the boat, shielding his eyes from the sun as he watches Luffy fly up, saying, "OKAY..." Suddenly, he gasps, "WHAT!?" High above, instead of catching the bird, Luffy has managed to get his head completely stuck inside the giant bird's beak with a "CHOMP". The bird continues to fly away, carrying a flailing Luffy with it. Luffy screams, "AAAAAH HELP!!" as he dangles from the bird's mouth. Zoro looks on in absolute shock and fury, yelling, "YOU IDIOT!!!" Zoro frantically grabs the oars and starts rowing the boat as fast as he can to chase the bird, the oars creaking loudly with "KREEK KREEK". He yells up at the sky, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? DARN YOU!" while Luffy's distant screams of "AAAAAH" echo from above.

Zoro continues to row furiously, the oars making loud "KREEK" sounds. Suddenly, he hears voices calling out from the water: "AHOY! IT'S A SHIP! HEY, WAIT!" Zoro looks confused, "HUH!?" and thinks to himself, "SHIPWRECK SURVIVORS? AT A TIME LIKE THIS?" In the water ahead, three men are thrashing about and waving their arms, yelling "HEY!!" with a "SPLASH SPLASH". Zoro, focused on his rowing, asks, "WHAT'D HE SAY!?" Without slowing down, Zoro shouts to the men in the water, "I CAN'T STOP! JUST GRAB ON AND CLIMB IN!" As the boat speeds past them, the three men manage to grab onto the side of the boat with a "WAP" and a large "SPLASH", grunting "UMF!" and "WHOA!" as they are pulled along.

Zoro is sitting in the small boat, holding his sword, as the three shipwreck survivors climb aboard, panting heavily. Zoro smiles and says, "YOU MADE IT! GOOD!" One of the exhausted men yells, "YOU WOULD HAVE LEFT US TO DIE!!" with a "KREEK KREEK" sound from the boat. The men continue to pant, "HUF HUF...", and one demands, "WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU!!" Suddenly, the three men stand up, looking menacing. The middle one draws a sword with a "FWIP" sound and declares, "WE'RE PIRATES OF BUGGY THE CLOWN!" The man on the right adds, "HEY! STOP THE SHIP!" Zoro simply looks back at them with an unbothered, slightly confused expression and says, "HUH!?"

The scene shifts to the three pirates now furiously rowing the boat, sweating profusely and looking terrified. The oars make loud "KREEK KREEK" and "STROKE! STROKE!" sounds. They apologize profusely, "WE'RE SORRY, MR. PIRATE HUNTER ZOLO, SIR! WE DIDN'T REALIZE WHO YOU WERE!!" One of them laughs nervously, "HEE HEE HEE..." Zoro sits back comfortably, arms crossed, and commands, "KEEP ROWING. IF THERE'S ANY LAND NEARBY, HE'LL GET THERE." He adds, "YOU JOKERS MADE ME LOSE MY FRIEND!" Zoro then asks them, "SO, HOW DID YOU PIRATES END UP SOAKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN?" The middle pirate points to his head, looking angry, and replies, "I'LL TELL YOU HOW!!! THANKS FOR REMINDING US!" The three pirates yell in unison, their faces contorted with anger, "IT WAS THAT WOMAN!!" "IT WAS ALL HER FAULT!!!" One adds, "SHE WAS A REAL LOOKER, THOUGH!!"

A flashback begins, showing a small pirate ship with a Buggy Jolly Roger sailing on the ocean. Laughter rings out, "HAR HAR HAR HAR!!" On the deck, one of the pirates says, "WE HAD JUST FINISHED RAIDING A MERCHANT SHIP..." Another adds, "THIS IS A PRETTY GOOD HAUL!" The three pirates are gathered around an open treasure chest filled with loot. One remarks, "NOT A BAD, FOR A SMALL SHIP!" Another says, "MAYBE CAPTAIN BUGGY WILL GIVE US A REWARD!" Suddenly, one of them notices something off-screen and says, "HUH? A BOAT!" They look over the side of their ship and see a small wooden boat drifting nearby. A person is slumped over inside it. One of the pirates observes, "THERE'S A BODY IN IT."

The pirates lean over the railing of their ship, looking down at the drifting boat. One says, "HEY... A GIRL!" Another laughs, "WHAT'S WRONG, GIRL? HAR HAR HAR! ARE YOU DEAD?" In the small boat, a young woman with short orange hair looks up weakly, sweating. She mutters, "OH... I'M SEEING THINGS......THERE CAN'T BE ANYONE HERE IN THE VAST SEA..." She is slumped over a treasure chest and pleads, "I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE......BUT COULD YOU SPARE A LITTLE WATER? AND MAYBE A PIECE OF BREAD? I'M LOST AT SEA!" She looks up at them desperately, "IF YOU WANT GOLD, TAKE IT... BUT PLEASE... HELP ME." The three pirates look down at her with greedy, sinister expressions, panting "PANT PANT". One replies, "SURE, WE'LL HELP YOU..." Another adds, "BUT FIRST LET'S JUST TAKE A PEEK IN THAT TREASURE CHEST!"

The girl weakly opens the treasure chest in her boat, saying, "GO AHEAD, TAKE WHATEVER YOU WANT... BUT PLEASE... SOME WATER!?" The three pirates eagerly jump down into her small boat with a "KLOMP". One says, "PATIENCE LITTLE LADY! FIRST, WE GOTTA SEE YOUR TREASURE!" Another adds, "AFTER ALL, WE'RE SAVING YOUR LIFE!" as they laugh "HAR HAR". Suddenly, the girl's demeanor completely changes. She looks up with a bright, mischievous smile and says, "TAKE THE WHOLE SHIP! IT'S ALL YOURS!" with a "HEE HEE". The pirates, now standing in her small boat, look back in shock. The girl has swiftly boarded their pirate ship and is sailing away. They yell, "HEY!!" "SHE'S LEAVING WITH OUR SHIP... AND OUR TREASURE!!" One of them looks into the chest they just opened and screams, "HEY! THIS CHEST IS EMPTY!!!"

The girl stands on the deck of the stolen pirate ship, looking back at the stranded pirates. She observes the sky and calls out, "DARK CLOUDS COMING IN LOW FROM THE SOUTH... THAT MEANS A COLD FRONT, FOLKS... WITH A STRONG LIKELIHOOD OF VIOLENT SHOWERS..." A "SHADOOO" sound effect accompanies the dark clouds gathering. She smiles confidently and continues, "THERE'S A SQUALL LINE HEADING THIS WAY... SMALL VESSELS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST CAPSIZING." Suddenly, a massive wave crashes over the small boat with a loud "KRAKOOM!!!!", sending the three pirates tumbling into the rough water as they scream "ARRGH!!!". The girl watches the chaos and says, "BINGO!" She sails away on the pirate ship, the sail catching the wind with a "THWAP". She waves back, "SO LONG! AND THANKS FOR THE TREASURE!" The three pirates thrash in the water as their small boat capsizes with a "KSSSH". They yell furiously, "S-SHE TRICKED US!!!" and "WE'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!"

Zoro sits in the small boat with the three Buggy Pirates, listening to their story. He remarks, "AMAZING. SHE USED THE WEATHER TO HER OWN ADVANTAGE. SHE MUST REALLY KNOW THE SEAS... SHE'D MAKE A GREAT NAVIGATOR..." One of the pirates complains, "JUST AWFUL, AIN'T IT!?" while another adds, "...AND THAT'S THE WHOLE SAD STORY!" Zoro then asks, "WHO'S THIS BUGGY GUY ANYWAY?" The three pirates look terrified at the mention of the name. One panics, "IF WE RETURN EMPTY-HANDED, BUGGY WILL BE FURIOUS!" Another worries, "WHAT'LL WE DO ABOUT THE TREASURE WE LOST?" The third declares, "WE THINK SHE'LL MAKE A GREAT CORPSE!" Zoro looks confused and asks, "...THE FRUIT OF THE DEVIL?" A menacing image of a pirate captain with a large red clown nose and a Jolly Roger featuring a red nose appears in their minds. The pirates exclaim, "HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF BUGGY THE CLOWN? HE ATE THE FRUIT OF THE DEVIL! ONLY THE MOST FEROCIOUS PIRATE IN THESE PARTS!"

A large, imposing pirate ship is docked at a town's harbor. The ship is heavily decorated with a circus theme, featuring a large tent-like structure on the deck and a massive cannon mounted on the bow. The town itself features European-style architecture with multi-story buildings. The scene shifts to a view of the town square, which is completely deserted. A fountain sits in the center of the cobblestone street, surrounded by empty buildings. A large "DA DUM" sound effect hangs in the air, emphasizing the eerie quietness of the abandoned town.

Nami runs through the streets, clutching a rolled-up piece of paper. She smiles triumphantly and says, "I FINALLY HAVE IT! A MAP OF THE GRAND LINE!!" She pants "HUF HUF" as she sprints, her footsteps making a "TATATATAT" sound. Behind her, three angry pirates chase her down the street, yelling, "GIVE US BACK THAT MAP!" and "STOP, THIEF!!" Meanwhile, elsewhere in the town, a voice calls out, "CAP'N BUGGY! THERE'S SOMETHING ODD IN THE SKY!" One of the pirates chasing Nami runs frantically, thinking, "IF WE DON'T GET THAT MAP BACK, WE'RE DEAD! I DON'T WANT TO BE KILLED BY ONE OF THE CAPTAIN'S CANNONBALLS!" High above, the silhouette of Luffy is seen still stuck in the beak of the giant bird, flying through the sky with a "AAA AAA" scream. A voice commands, "SHOOT IT DOWN WITH THE CANNON!" and another replies, "AYE AYE, SIR!"

Nami suddenly stops running and looks up in shock as a loud "YAAAA" echoes from above. The three pirates chasing her also skid to a halt, looking up at the sky with confused "!!?" and "HEY!" expressions. Two of the pirates stare in disbelief, one exclaiming, "HE FELL FROM THE SKY!!!" and the other stammering, "I-IT'S A KID!" Nami watches wide-eyed, uttering a stunned "WHAT!?" Suddenly, a massive explosion rocks the street right in front of them, sending debris flying and the pirates screaming "AAAHH!" and "EEEYAA!". As the smoke clears with "FSS FSS" sounds, a voice complains from the crater, "OUCH! WHO'S SHOOTING CANNONBALLS AT ME!?"

The smoke clears to reveal Luffy standing in the crater, dusting himself off and declaring, "I'M ALIVE!" Nami sits on the ground nearby, staring at him in disbelief. The three pirates are sprawled on the ground behind him, one of them noting in shock, "PHEW! HE'S NOT HURT!!!" Nami suddenly gets an idea, her face lighting up. She clasps her hands together, puts on a sweet smile, and calls out to Luffy, "BOSS! YOU CAME TO RESCUE ME!" Luffy looks at her, completely confused. Taking advantage of the distraction, Nami sprints away with a "ZIP!", calling back, "I'LL JUST LET YOU TAKE CARE OF THOSE GUYS!" The pirates notice her escaping, yelling, "HEY! SHE'S GETTING AWAY!" but another says, "FORGET THE GIRL!" The three pirates surround Luffy. One of them, a large, muscular man with stitches across his face and "Hanswurst" written on his chest, looms over him. A pirate says, "WE'VE GOT HER BOSS RIGHT HERE!" while another adds, "HE'S A BIGGER PRIZE THAN SHE IS!" Luffy stands amidst them with a question mark bubble over his head, a "DOOM" sound effect emphasizing the tense standoff.

The large pirate swings his sword down at Luffy, yelling, "ISN'T THAT RIGHT... BOSS!?" Another pirate shouts, "THAT MAP BELONGS TO THE FEARSOME PIRATE, BUGGY THE CLOWN!!!" Luffy looks up in surprise, saying "HEY..." The sword strikes Luffy directly on the top of his head with a loud "CHWNK" and "KRSSH!" sound. However, instead of cutting Luffy, the blade shatters into pieces upon impact. The pirate who swung the sword yells "HEY!" in shock. In a close-up, Luffy looks furious. He holds his straw hat, which now has a visible cut through the brim. He glares menacingly and says, "DON'T TOUCH......THE HAT!"

The top panel shows a pirate with a sword looking angry and yelling, "WHY YOU......SCURVY BILGE-RAT!!" Luffy glares back at him fiercely, accompanied by a large "GRRRRRR" sound effect. In the middle panel, Nami sits casually on the edge of a roof, looking down at Luffy. She says, "WOW! YOU'RE PRETTY TOUGH. YOU BEAT THOSE SABER-SWINGERS WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!" Luffy stands in the street below, surrounded by the unconscious bodies of the pirates he just defeated. He looks up at her and asks, "UH... WHO'RE YOU!?" In the bottom right panel, a close-up shows Nami smiling confidently and pointing to herself. She introduces herself, "THE NAME'S NAMI!! I SPECIALIZE IN ROBBING PIRATES. WANNA TEAM UP WITH ME!?" In the bottom left panel, a close-up of Luffy shows him looking slightly confused as he repeats, "ROBBING PIRATES?"
