The Five Elder Planets

The chapter opens after the Reverie, before news of King Cobra's murder has come to light. The title appears: "Chapter 1086: The Five Elder Planets." At the Red Port and around the royal vessels, stowaways hold their breath as various royal ships attempt to escape. People shout that Princess Vivi of Arabasta is missing and ask whether anyone has seen her or whether King Cobra's condition has worsened. Wapol and Vivi hide aboard a ship, and the narration says the curtains drew closed on the Reverie while the fallout began. The page sets up the global consequences of Cobra's death and Vivi's disappearance before the world learns what happened.

Vivi and Wapol are discovered on the Aegis Kingdom's ship, and Wapol snaps at Vivi to leave him alone and return to her own ship. Vivi asks what exactly he saw in Pangaea Castle, but Wapol panics that CP0 is no joke and that, now that they are after him, it will not matter how many reporters triple those agents will not rest until he is back in custody. He asks Morgans to borrow a transponder snail because he needs to talk to his father as soon as possible. Morgans, aboard his news ship, says they will fly headquarters over and pretend to look for a scoop. He is thrilled, calling a king the subject of a manhunt big news, and tells them to use the chance to hop aboard before they are caught.

Vivi and Wapol flee among the royal vessels. Vivi looks back toward the Tajine Kingdom's ship and says she is hungry, while Wapol, hiding in the bilge section of the Lulusia Kingdom's ship, says that if he can just make it to Lulusia he can figure something out. Images of Cobra's final words return: "You must live on!!" and "I'm counting on you, Sabo-kun!!" The page shows Vivi escaping with Wapol while Sabo's burden and Cobra's dying command echo in the background, linking the stowaways' flight to the truth of what happened in the throne room.

It does not take long for the two key stories to spread across the globe: the murder of King Cobra of Arabasta and the disappearance of his daughter, Princess Vivi. At Mary Geoise, the Five Elders discuss Sabo. They say he seems to have a checkered fate and ask how else to account for him constantly being surrounded by those who bear the letter D. One Elder hoped they would be able to see to the Egghead issue soon, but says this complication must take priority. A phone rings, and one of them answers, "Yes, Great Imu." The page connects Sabo, Cobra, Vivi, the D initial, and the incoming command from Imu.

In Pangaea Castle's Flower Room, Imu says the time has come to put Vegapunk's invention to the test: "Use the Mother Flame!!" The Five Elders admit they have not had the chance to try it out before, so there is no way to know its effectiveness yet. One suggests that a forest area would make a more suitable testing ground than a sea-based target, but the selected target is Lulusia Kingdom. When someone asks the reason for choosing Lulusia, Imu answers that it is close. The Elders note that many people live there, but Imu says that is of no consequence and that the world moves at the will of the Creator. The order makes clear that Lulusia's destruction is treated as an experiment and an act of absolute power.

Imu adds that Lulusia's citizens have recently shown sparks of rebellion, and the Five Elder Planets accept the command, saying they will make the necessary preparations and requesting patience. Their identities and roles are revealed: Five Elder Planets Defense Science Warrior God Saint Jay Garcia Saturn; Five Elder Planets Environment Warrior God Saint Markus Mars; Five Elder Planets Justice Warrior God Topman Valcurie; Five Elder Planets Finance Warrior God Ethan Baron V. Nusjuro; and Five Elder Planets Agriculture Warrior God Shepherd Ju Peter. They also say the Mother Flame could instantly snuff out any protracted conflict, that if they could one day use this power freely they might make an example of enemies, and that it shall be as Imu says.

Imu gives one more order: "Retrieve Vivi..." The Five Elder Planets answer, "As you wish." Meanwhile, the Aegis Kingdom and Tajine Kingdom are reported to be rebelling. Between the disbanding of the Seven Warlords and uprisings in government-affiliated nations, the Navy has its hands full, and the military power that once belonged to the Warlords has already gone in a new direction. On Emptee Bluffs Island, Crocodile has been spotted and people shout to deploy the Seraphim. The page broadens the crisis: Imu wants Vivi captured, nations are rebelling, the Warlord system is gone, and the World Government is scrambling to contain Cross Guild and other threats.

Back at Kamabakka, Sabo explains his escape. The second ship he boarded docked at Lulusia, where the people who arrested King Seki and Princess Komane were waiting to ambush the royals. Since Sabo was a stowaway, they welcomed him with open arms. That is when he saw the newspapers and discovered that the Government had pinned King Cobra's murder on him. The people of Lulusia considered him a hero, and although Sabo wanted to tell them the truth, he says that when he saw how the flames of rebellion had fanned within them, the words died in his mouth. Betty and the others had already inspired many of them, and Sabo ended up bringing many hopeful recruits back with him.

Sabo explains the call that made the World Government think he was still on Lulusia. Because he could not make direct contact without an encryption snail, he rerouted his call through the island while they were setting sail. He expected the Government to intercept the signal, and doing it that way would fool them into thinking he was still on Lulusia. The island was within range because his new ship had already set out to sea. Ivankov realizes that the annihilation of Lulusia happened during that call. Sabo says everyone aboard was hysterical because many had family on the island, and they watched their country get obliterated in front of their eyes. He says an enormous shadow seemed to engulf the sky above them, and the next moment, everything was gone.

Sabo insists there is no way Lulusia's destruction was caused by a living thing or some natural disaster. Something pitch black was flying above the clouds. Ivankov recalls that Sabo earlier said Imu's name. Ivankov says this may be obscure, but when the world as they know it today was created 800 years ago, one of the First Twenty sovereigns was Saint Imu of House Nerona. Since they know an ability granting eternal youth is said to exist, Ivankov suggests someone must have used it before. This would mean there is a person out there who does not need to worry about death. Dragon listens as Ivankov draws the chilling connection between Imu, immortality, and the weapon that erased Lulusia.

Sabo asks if Ivankov thinks the person he saw was Saint Imu of House Nerona. Ivankov says it could be coincidence and maybe they just share the same name, but asks whether anyone other than a founder could command the Five Elder Planets, the highest World Nobles. Celestial Dragons call themselves descendants of the gods, after all. Ivankov then reasons that if the object Sabo saw above the clouds was a weapon made by the Government, the only person capable of creating such a thing would be Vegapunk. Dragon objects that Vegapunk would never intentionally design a dedicated killing machine. Ivankov then asks: if it was an ancient weapon and Imu has been alive since ancient times, why wait until now to use it? Dragon says ancient weapons do exist, but the timing raises a dangerous question.

In the present day at the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, a Celestial Dragon has just been sentenced to death, though this information will never be reported outside the world. The condemned man is Saint Donquixote Mjosgard, the one who chose to defend the Fish-Men. The judge is Saint Garling Figarland, former king of the land known as God Valley and current supreme commander of God's Knights. As nobles complain that their food supply is gone, Garling sits with his sword and declares that anyone who protects scum is lower than the scum they protect. The page reveals a new power figure within the World Government and shows that even Celestial Dragons can be executed by their own when they defend those beneath them.
