DEVIL'S FRUIT

Buggy's detached upper body, consisting of his head, torso, and arms, flies aggressively toward Luffy with his hands outstretched. His lower body runs on the ground behind him. Luffy stands in the background, holding his straw hat and watching the attack. In the bottom right panel, Luffy smirks confidently. Buggy's detached upper half suddenly looks down in shock, sweating, as a "PLOP!" sound occurs. In the bottom left panel, Buggy's lower half trips and falls flat onto the ground with a heavy thud, accompanied by the sound "AHCK!!".

Luffy stands calmly while Buggy's detached upper half lies on the ground, coughing. Buggy yells, "DAMMIT, HOW DARE YOU TREAT MY TREASURE LIKE THAT!!" and "UGGHH! KEHK... KEHK!!". In the next panel, Luffy sits directly on Buggy's detached head, pulling at his face. Buggy complains, "YOU EVEN SPAT ON IT!!" and "PUUHT! PUUHEHT!! THAT'S DIRTY, STOP IT!". Luffy replies, "IT'S YOUR OWN SALIVA!!". A large middle panel shows a close-up of Luffy looking furious as he violently stretches Buggy's cheeks. The sound effect "STRETCH...!!" accompanies the action. Luffy angrily declares, "SHANKS BEING YOUR COMRADE... DON'T YOU DARE REPEAT THOSE WORDS EVER AGAIN!!". Buggy cries out, "AIYAYAYAYAH!!". In the bottom right panel, Buggy's stretched face retorts, "HUH... EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT SORT OF RELATIONSHIP YOU HAD WITH SHANKS!! IT'S MY OWN CHOICE HOW I CAN SPEAK OF HIM!!". In the bottom left panel, Buggy's detached hand, holding a dagger, flies toward Luffy from behind. Buggy shouts, "TAKE THIS!!" and "BA...RA... BA...RA...". Luffy notices the incoming attack with a surprised "!".

Luffy violently stomps both of his feet down onto Buggy's face, crushing him into the ground with a loud "CHOP!" sound effect. Luffy yells, "STAY STILL...!!". Buggy chokes out, "HEUKAHCK!!!". In the middle right panel, two of Buggy's crew members peek out from behind some rubble, looking worried. One asks, "..... HEY... ISN'T OUR CAPTAIN... KINDA LOSING...?!". The other replies, "D...DON'T SAY SUCH STUPID THINGS!". In the middle left panel, they continue sweating nervously. One insists, "DO YOU THINK CAPTAIN BUGGY WILL ACTUALLY LOSE? CAPTAIN'S REAL SKILLS WILL START NOW!". The other agrees hesitantly, "... MOST LIKELY!". In the bottom right panel, Nami peeks out from behind a small building, sweating. She realizes, "AIYAYAH... I WAS SO FASCINATED, I KEPT ON WATCHING". In the bottom left panel, she looks determined and says, "I'VE GOT TO QUICKLY STEAL THE WAREHOUSE TREASURE AND RUN AWAY!".

A sign reading "THE VILLAGERS' SHELTER PLACE" stands near a wooden structure where a large group of villagers has gathered. They look anxious, murmuring among themselves with "doyo doyo" and "zawa zawa" sound effects. One villager notes, "IT'S BEEN SO LONG AND THE CHIEF STILL HASN'T RETURNED!" A man with glasses adds, "IT'S TOO STRANGE!!" Another mentions, "YEAH... AND WE'VE ALSO HEARD A COUPLE OF CANNON NOISES..." A woman concludes, "SOMETHING'S DEFINITELY HAPPENED IN THE VILLAGE..." In the foreground, the older, bald mayor, Boodle, listens with a stern expression. He thinks, "MAKING THE TOWNSPEOPLE WORRY... THAT MAN..." Boodle then steps forward decisively, saying, "... ALRIGHT. I'M GOING TO GO CHECK OUT THE VILLAGE AND RETURN SHORTLY. YOU ALL WAIT HERE!"

The villagers react to Boodle's decision. One warns, "YOU MUSTN'T GO ALONE!" while another volunteers, "I'LL GO TOO." Boodle turns back and yells, "FOOL! THE ONES AT THE VILLAGE ARE PIRATES! BUGGY'S CREW IS KNOWN FOR BEING LOW AND DIRTY!!" Despite his warning, the villagers begin arming themselves with sticks, pitchforks, and bats. They stand resolutely behind him. One declares, "THAT'S WHY WE REALLY HAVE TO GO!" Another adds, "IF WE CAN'T PROTECT OUR OWN CHIEF, HOW COULD ANYONE CALL US VILLAGERS!" They insist, "IT'S USELESS TO TRY AND STOP US... SINCE IT'S A VOLUNTARY ACTION WE'RE ALL TAKING!" Boodle closes his eyes, a small, proud smile forming on his face, and concedes, "DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!!" The armed villagers cheer, "LET'S GO!" and "YEAH! YEAH!" as they prepare to march.

Back in the ruined town, Buggy's detached head lies on the ground in the foreground while Luffy stands further back. Buggy angrily declares, "THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE LIFE, EVEN UNTIL TODAY, THERE WAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS MADE ME MADDER THAN HE DID!!" A large panel shows Buggy yelling furiously, "THAT BASTARD, HE... HE TOOK A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TREASURE FROM ME!!!" Luffy watches him with a surprised "!" expression. In a close-up, Buggy seethes, "I CAN'T FORGIVE HIM!!" The scene then transitions into a flashback on a pirate ship. Two young boys are seen fighting on the deck: a young Buggy with his signature red nose and a beanie, and another young boy wearing a straw hat. Off-panel voices cheer them on: "OOOH, THEY'RE FIGHTING AGAIN!" and "HAHAHA. FIGHT, FIGHT!! DON'T LOSE TO EACH OTHER!!"

The flashback continues with young Buggy and young Shanks glaring angrily at each other, pressing their faces close. Buggy yells, "IT'S THE NORTH POLE!!" Young Shanks shouts back, "NO, IT'S THE SOUTH POLE!!" They continue bickering, with Buggy saying, "YOU'RE STILL INSISTING ON THAT, MORON!" and Shanks replying, "OF COURSE! I'M TELLING YOU I'M RIGHT!!" They start brawling in the background, exchanging blows with "BOKA! BOKA! BOKA!" sound effects while the rest of the pirate crew laughs ("HA! HA! HA! HA!"). Suddenly, a tall man with glasses and a ponytail, Silvers Rayleigh, steps in and bonks both boys on the head with a loud "DONK! DONK!" They cry out "EEK!" and "OUCH!" as they fall to the deck holding their heads. Rayleigh scolds them, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! YOU TWO ALWAYS GONNA FIGHT OR WHAT!?!!" He stands over them, hands on his hips, and lectures, "I CAN'T SEE WHY WHETHER THE NORTH POLE OR THE SOUTH POLE IS COLDER HAS TO DO WITH YOU!! IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SO BADLY, GO TO BOTH PLACES AND CHECK FOR YOURSELF!! IDIOTS..."

The flashback continues on the deck of a pirate ship. A lookout calls, "A VESSEL IS COMING FROM THE NORTH WEST!!" and a crew member orders, "OKAY!! ATTACK!!". Young Shanks, holding a sword, shouts, "LET'S START THE ACTION!!!". Young Buggy, holding two daggers, looks determined and says, "A VESSEL'S THE SAME AS A TREASURE BOX!! THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO A PIRATE IS HIS LOOT!!". Shanks smiles at him and says, "LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE EXCITED, BUGGY". Buggy replies, "WELL, THAT'S ONE THING... IT'S NOT JUST ONE THING... IT'S EVERYTHING!! TOO NICE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. YOU AND THIS SHIP'S PIRATES... DON'T TREAT TREASURE SERIOUSLY ENOUGH!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A PIRATE REALLY IS!!". Shanks draws his sword with a "ZING!" sound.

A chaotic battle unfolds on the deck of a ship, with pirates clashing swords and axes amidst shouts of "WAAAAAAAAAAHH...." and "CLASH CLASH!". Young Buggy is seen fighting, yelling "UGGH!!", "EEEEACK!", "HE-YAH!", and "OOO OHT!" as he dodges and strikes. Later, Buggy is shown crouching on the deck, holding a piece of paper. He looks surprised and says, "HUH!? THIS...!! PIRA...". A large panel shows Buggy holding the paper, which is revealed to be a map, with a loud "BAM!!" sound effect. He thinks to himself, "IT WAS A MAP THAT HAD A HUGE AMOUNT OF TREASURE LYING ON THE SEA-BED MARKED ON IT. T...T-T-T...T...! TREASURE MAP...!! I WAS REALLY SHOCKED...!! FIRST TIME SEEING ONE!!".

Young Buggy raises his arms in triumph, cheering, "MY LIFE'S WORRIES WILL END AND HAPPINESS WILL COME!! YAHOO!! FROM NOW ON....!". He then looks sneaky, glancing around as he thinks, "KUHAHAHA WHO WOULDN'T KEEP THIS TO THEMSELVES. AAHAAAA, NO ONE COULD'VE SEEN". The scene shifts to the pirate ship sailing on the sea. Voices from the crew celebrate: "HAHAHAHA-HAHAHA! TODAY WE HAVE ANOTHER DELIGHTFUL VICTORY!! DRINK, DRINK TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT, RAISE YOUR VOICES AND SING!!". Suddenly, young Shanks opens a door with a "SLAM!" and "GACHA!" sound, holding a bottle. He calls out, "OI BUGGY... LET'S CELEBRATE TOGETHER! WE FOUND A WEIRD TREASURE, TOO!". Buggy is startled and quickly hides the map behind his back, sweating nervously. He stammers, "W... W... WHADDYA MEAN TREASURE... I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL!! I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!". Shanks looks confused and asks, "WHATCHA TALKING ABOUT?".

Young Buggy and young Shanks talk on the deck of the ship, with Buggy in the foreground and Shanks nearby. Buggy says, "WE TOO ONE DAY, WILL GET OFF THIS SHIP. OF COURSE WE WILL...". Shanks smiles and replies, "IF I GET TO HAVE MY OWN SHIP, I'M PLANNING TO GO AROUND AND SEE THE WORLD. AS A PIRATE, OF COURSE". Buggy laughs mockingly, "HEHEHNG!! TALKING ABSOLUTE NONSENSE AS USUAL". Shanks retorts, "OH YEAH!?". Buggy looks at him seriously and says, "I CAN UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT YOUR FIGHTING SKILLS. IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOUR CRAZY WAY OF THINKING I WOULDN'T MIND TAKING YOU IN AS MY CREW MEMBER...".

The flashback continues with young Shanks leaning back and drinking from a bottle while young Buggy sits beside him. Shanks says, "YOUR FOLLOWER!? LIKE I WANT TO BE!!" and adds, "BECAUSE WE THINK SO DIFFERENTLY WE JUST NEED TO TRAVEL THE PATH THAT EACH THINKS BEST". Buggy replies, "THAT'S WHAT A PIRATE LIFE IS LIKE!!". In the next panel, Buggy looks down with a slight smile as Shanks laughs, "HAHAHAHA!! IT'S FUNNY TO HEAR THINGS ABOUT PIRATES FROM YOUR MOUTH...". Buggy continues, "BUT IF THAT HAPPENS... THEN WHEN WE MEET EACH OTHER AT SEA AGAIN... WE'LL MEET AS ENEMIES!". Shanks smiles and agrees, "YEP". Buggy adds, "THAT'S JUST ANOTHER PART OF A PIRATE'S LIFE". Suddenly, Buggy looks confused and annoyed, asking, "....WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT...?". Shanks casually mentions, "HEY, DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY SOMETHING ABOUT SOME WEIRD TREASURE?". Buggy looks nervous and sweats as he replies, "HMM... YES, WE'VE GOT THIS 'DEVIL'S FRUIT'".

Shanks holds up a finger, explaining what he knows. "I ONCE HEARD THAT THE DEVIL'S FRUITS ARE ALL THE SEA-DEVIL'S INCARNATIONS," he says. "IF YOU EAT IT YOU'LL GAIN A SPECIAL ABILITY, BUT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SWIM". Buggy listens, thinking to himself, "THE CAPTAIN SAID THAT WHOEVER WANTS TO EAT IT CAN HAVE IT......" and "KUHAHAHAHA! DON'T WANNA EAT THAT SORTA THING AND END UP UNABLE TO SWIM FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE...". In the next panel, Buggy handles his map, looking sneaky as he thinks, "HUEH... SCARY... ANYONE WHO EATS THAT SORT OF THING IS NO DOUBT A REAL IDIOT". He reasons, "IF THERE'S A TREASURE LYING ON THE SEABED AND YOU CAN'T SWIM, THEN YOU CAN'T GO AND GET IT!". Shanks then casually adds, "BUT THAT ODD FRUIT... TURNS OUT IT SELLS FOR AROUND 100 MILLION BELI IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT". Buggy's eyes bulge out of his head in extreme shock as he yells, "WHAT? IS THAT TRUE!!". He excitedly calculates in his head, "IF IT'S ONE HUNDRED MILLION BELI THEN IT'S MORE THAN THE SELLING PRICE OF 10 A-RANKED TREASURE BOXES!! THE TREASURE GODDESS MUST BE SMILING DOWN AT ME RIGHT NOW!!".

On the deck of the ship, young Buggy stands proudly holding up a strange, round fruit covered in swirl patterns. The crew watches as a voice announces, "PIRATE TRAINEE BUGGY...! HE WILL EAT THE DEVIL'S FRUIT!!!". The crew cheers him on, with one laughing, "HAHAHAH... BEING YOUNG IS A WONDERFUL THING, SINCE YOU CAN BE SO CAREFREE". Another adds, "GOOD GOING BUGGY. I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR YOU NOW!!". Buggy shoves the entire fruit into his mouth with a loud "GULP!!", prompting someone to exclaim, "OOHT... HE ATE IIIT...!!!". A moment of silence follows, marked by "SFX: SILENCE...". Buggy stands there looking completely normal. A crewmate asks, "SO HOW IS IT BUGGY? FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE IN YOUR BODY?". Buggy replies calmly, "NO... NOT REALLY...". The crew looks disappointed, murmuring, "WHAT?! WAS IT A FAKE?" and "WELL THE STORY OF THE DEVIL'S FRUIT WAS A RUMORED STORY FROM THE START". Meanwhile, Buggy smirks and sweats nervously, thinking to himself, "KEKEKEKEKE!! YOU'VE GOT IT EXACTLY RIGHT!! WHAT I JUST ATE WAS A FAKE FRUIT I SPENT ALL NIGHT WORKING ON AND SWITCHING".

Alone in a storage area, Buggy holds the real Devil's Fruit in one hand and the treasure map in the other, laughing triumphantly with "HAHAHAHAHA!!". He gloats to himself, "EVERYTHING TURNED OUT AS PLANNED!! I DON'T NEED TO BE A PIRATE TRAINEE ANYMORE. I BETTER GET OFF THIS SHIP BEFORE ANYONE FINDS OUT". He continues, "WITH THE MONEY FROM SELLING THE FRUIT AND THE TREASURE FROM THE MAP, I COULD FORM THE BEST PIRATE CREW IN THE WORLD AND STEAL THE MOST VALU-". Suddenly, Shanks pops up from behind a wooden crate, asking, "YO BUGGY, WHATCHA DOING HERE?". Buggy is startled, quickly hiding the fruit and map behind his back while thinking, "HIDE HIDE". He sweats and thinks, "W..WHAT THE, SO IT WAS THIS IDIOT. SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH." Shanks remarks, "YOUR FACE SURE IS A SIGHT". Shanks then walks away, waving and saying, "DON'T STEAL TOO MUCH FOOD. THE COOK WILL GET MAD!". Buggy sighs in relief, thinking, "PHEW... THE DANGER HAS PASSED...". But suddenly, Shanks pops right back up next to Buggy's face, saying, "OH YEAH! IF I THINK ABOUT IT THE CAPTAIN JUST...". Buggy is caught completely off guard, his eyes bulging in shock. In his panic, he accidentally swallows the real Devil's Fruit whole with a loud "GULP!!".

The flashback continues. In the top left panel, a close-up shows young Buggy's face covered in sweat, his eyes wide in sheer terror. He screams, "AAAAAA-AAAAAH-HHHHH-HHHHH-HHHHH" with a loud "AAAAAAAAAAAA...." sound effect. In the top right panel, Shanks is shown at a distance near crates on the ship's deck as Buggy reacts. In the middle left panel, Buggy's treasure map slips from his fingers and flutters away. A voice asks, "WHAT IS THAT? THAT PIECE OF PAPER". Buggy cries out, "AAAAH-HHH, MY MAP!!!". In the middle right panel, Buggy frantically grabs Shanks by the shirt collar, yelling, "YOU... YOU... YOU BASTARD, I... I...!" and "I... AA... AAAAHH!!". Shanks looks surprised with a "!?". In the bottom left panel, Buggy loses control of his body and falls toward the water, thinking, "WHAT THE... MY BODY CAN'T MOVE PROPERLY...". In the bottom right panel, Shanks looks over the ship's railing at the splash below, yelling, "HEY!! BUGGY?!".

In the top left panel, the side of the pirate ship is shown. Voices from the crew call out in confusion: "WHAT THE? WHAT'S GOING ON, SHANKS?", "EEEH? WHAT'S THAT GUY DOING?", and "HEY, MAN. WHATCHA DOING?! SWIMMING'S YOUR SPECIALTY!". In the top right panel, young Buggy thrashes wildly in the water, splashing and gasping, "HE... HELP...!! GULP.. GULP...!!!" and "SOMEONE SAVE ME...!!!". In the middle right panel, young Shanks dives headfirst into the water, saying, "I'LL SAVE YOU...". Someone yells, "LOOK, SHANKS!!". In the middle left panel, the scene transitions back to the present day, showing a close-up of Buggy's angry face. He says, "SO I... ATE A ONE HUNDRED MILLION BELI WORTH FRUIT... AND BECAME UNABLE TO SWIM!! AND I ALSO MISSED THE TREASURE LYING ON THE SEABED!!". In the bottom right panel, Luffy stands in the ruined town, remarking, "OH... SO SHANKS SAVED YOUR LIFE". Buggy's detached head yells back furiously, "I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT PART!!!". In the bottom left panel, Buggy's head continues to yell, "BECAUSE OF THAT IDIOT MY FUTURE LIFE PLANS WERE POSTPONED FOR TEN YEARS!!!".

In the top panel, Buggy's detached upper half flies high in the sky, his cape billowing behind him. He declares, "WITH THIS DEVIL'S FRUIT POWER!!" and "SO THAT'S WHY I PROMISED MYSELF!! IF I CAN'T GET ANYTHING UNDER THE SEA THEN I'D SETTLE FOR EVERY TREASURE ABOVE IT!!!". Below, Luffy sits on the ground, watching him. In the middle panel, Buggy's upper half flies aggressively forward, arms outstretched. He continues his threat, "BECAUSE OF THAT WHO EVER TOUCHES MY TREASURE..." and "WHOEVER THAT IS I NEVER...!". In the bottom right panel, Luffy looks up with an "AA...". In the bottom middle panel, Buggy's detached upper half lunges forward with a menacing expression, yelling, "LEAVE THEM ALIVE!!!". In the bottom left panel, Nami stands nearby, looking surprised and saying, "EH?".
