Inside the shipyard, Franky stands tall in his floral shirt and speedos, facing Usopp. Franky offers, "I'M SAYING THAT I'LL HELP YOU DISMANTLE THAT SHIP." Usopp, standing defiantly in front of the Going Merry, screams back, "SHUT UP!!! I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU DO IT!!!" Kiwi and Mozz watch anxiously from the side, shouting, "BRO!!" Usopp fiercely declares, "GOING MERRY... IS MY SHIP!!!"

Franky looks down at Usopp with a serious expression behind his sunglasses, stating flatly, "NO... IT'S... NOT A SHIP ANYMORE!!!" Usopp is taken aback, uttering, "AH?" and "WHAT?". Franky continues, "I ASKED YOU EARLIER... 'WHAT'RE YOU GONNA DO ONCE YOU FIX THIS SHIP'..." He explains that if Usopp was just going to throw his life away with the ship, he wouldn't care, but since Usopp wants to return to East Blue, Franky has to stop him: "THAT'S WHY I'M STOPPING YOU, KID."

Franky explains the harsh reality: "THIS SHIP AIN'T GONNA EVEN GET TO THE NEXT ISLAND." He talks about the soul of a ship: "SHIPS ARE BORN WITH THAT WISH IN MIND...!!! 'I WILL CARRY YOU FROM THIS LAND TO THAT LAND'". He raises his voice, shouting, "WHEN A SHIP CAN NO LONGER CARRY PEOPLE TO THE NEXT LAND... IT'S NOT A SHIP ANYMORE!!!" Usopp covers his ears and screams, "NO!!! STOP!!!"

In a sudden burst of action, Franky grabs Usopp and hurls him away from the ship with immense force. Wood splinters and dust flies as Usopp is thrown through the air, screaming, "STOP-------!!!" Kiwi and Mozz cry out in panic, "BRO---!!" The Going Merry's figurehead remains silent in the background.

Usopp is sent flying through the air and crashes into the water with a massive splash. He emerges, coughing and shouting in anger, "YOU BASTARD!!! GET AWAY FROM THE SHIP!!!" Franky stands silhouetted against the light, unmoved by Usopp's rage.

Usopp charges back out of the water, dripping wet, and lunges at Franky. He swings wildly, screaming, "YOU BASTARD...". Franky easily intercepts him, grabbing Usopp and slamming him down onto the wooden dock with a heavy thud.

Franky lifts Usopp and throws him back into the water. He yells, "IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND...!!! THEN YOU'D BETTER SEE IT...!!! FOR YOURSELF!!!!" Usopp plunges deep into the water with a massive "SPLOOSH!!!". Kiwi and Mozz watch in stunned silence as bubbles rise to the surface.

Underwater, Usopp swims down beneath the hull of the Going Merry. He opens his eyes underwater and looks at the bottom of the ship. There, he sees the devastating truth: a massive, irreparable crack running straight through the ship's keel. Bubbles escape his mouth as the reality sinks in. He surfaces, gasping heavily for air ("SPLASH", "HAA... HAA..."), while Franky stands silently on the dock, waiting.

Usopp drags himself back onto the dock, coughing and gasping for breath. He is completely exhausted and emotionally shattered. Despite the truth he just saw, he crawls back to the ship, grabs his hammer, and begins frantically hammering at the wood again ("BAM!! BAM!!", "CREAK...", "CRUNCH!!!"). Tears stream down his face as he sobs, "I'M SORRY, MERRY..... I'LL FIX YOU...!! IN A MINUTE...!!!" Franky watches him in silence.

Usopp continues his desperate, futile repairs, hammering away with tears in his eyes ("I'LL FIX YOU...!!! AGAIN!! AND AGAIN!!"). Kiwi and Mozz cover their mouths, unable to watch. Franky finally speaks up, trying to reason with him: "HEY, CUT IT OUT ALREADY, LONG NOSE!! YOU SAW THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIP, RIGHT? THE KEEL IS BROKEN, THE OUTSIDE PLATES ARE MISALIGNED, AND THE RIBS ARE IN PIECES!! IT COULD COLLAPSE WITH EACH WAVE THAT HITS IT!! DO YOU THINK THAT THE REPAIRS OF SOME AMATEUR WOULD..."

In a fit of frustration, Usopp throws his tools aside, sending nails and his hammer flying into the air. He screams at the top of his lungs, "SHUT UP ALREADY!!! I DON'T WANT YOU TELLING ME THAT!!! I'LL KICK YOUR ASS IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP, YOU HOOLIGAN BASTARD!!!" After his outburst, Usopp looks down, his voice dropping to a whisper: "I knew... all of that." Franky is stunned, asking, "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?"

Tears pour down Usopp's face as he finally admits the truth out loud, screaming in agony, "I KNEW THAT GOING MERRY...!!! COULD NOT TRAVEL ANYMORE!!!!" Franky, Kiwi, and Mozz stare at him in absolute shock. Usopp falls to his knees, completely broken, sobbing, "I actually... knew all of that...!!!"

Sitting on the floor with his head bowed, Usopp explains his realization. He recalls the evaluation of the shipwrights and remembers a strange event from Skypiea. "ONE NIGHT... I HEARD THE SOUNDS OF HAMMERING... FROM THE EMPTY SHIP...!!" A flashback shows Usopp waking up in the thick fog, hearing the faint sound of hammering. "THE FOG WAS REALLY THICK, BUT SOMEONE WAS DEFINITELY THERE. I NEVER FOUND OUT WHO, BUT THE NEXT DAY, THE SHIP WAS REPAIRED IN A VERY POOR FASHION."

Usopp continues his story, remembering how the mysterious figure knew the ship's original shape even though it was no longer the flying model. He recalls a gentle voice saying, "IT'S ALRIGHT. I'LL CARRY ALL OF YOU... FOR A LITTLE WHILE LONGER." Tears well up in Usopp's eyes as he confesses, "I KNOW IT SOUNDS SO FREAKING STUPID...!! BUT... I.... I THINK THAT IT WAS... THE INCARNATION OF GOING MERRY...!!!"

Usopp says he believes the ship wanted to warn them because it was at its limit. Franky suddenly blows his nose loudly into a handkerchief, deeply moved. He asks Usopp, "HE LOOKED LIKE A SAILOR, HOLDING A HAMMER, DIDN'T HE?" Usopp is startled, asking how he knew. Franky looks at him seriously and says, "..... 'CAUSE, KID, YOU PROBABLY SAW A KLABAUTERMANN."

Usopp mutters, "KLABAR.....?" Franky explains the legend: "KLABAUTERMANN. A LEGEND TOLD AMONG THE SEAFARERS... IT'S A FAIRY THAT DWELLS ON SHIPS THAT ARE WELL CARED FOR... IT'S BASICALLY AN INCARNATION OF THE SHIP." He describes how it wears a sailor's raincoat, holds a hammer, and warns the crew when the ship is in danger. Franky admits, "SERIOUSLY--- THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE HEARD ABOUT IT DIRECTLY..."

Franky smiles gently, explaining that a ship that is deeply loved will take on a human form out of gratitude to carry its crew to the other side. Usopp looks at the Going Merry, tears streaming down his face as he whispers, "..... MERRY... SO, THEN, THE GUY WHO TALKED TO ME... REALLY WAS YOU........ MERRY."

Franky remarks on how amazing it is that Usopp knew the ship's limits but still fought his friends to protect it. Usopp quietly replies, "...IT'S NOT LIKE THAT." Behind them, Kiwi and Mozz weep loudly, crying, "MEN ARE SO CLUMSY-- THEY'RE STUPID-----!!" Suddenly, the atmosphere shifts. Franky and Usopp sense a presence. Franky warns, "SOMEONE'S HERE." Outside, several dark, silhouetted figures in black suits and hats stand in the shadows. One of them calls out, "BRO,".
