8 o'clock at Spider's Café

The Going Merry sails across the ocean, with a mountainous island visible in the background. On the deck, Nami is examining a small, blank piece of paper. Luffy, standing nearby, asks, "What's it for?" Nami replies, "Huh, you're right. There's nothing even written on it." Sanji, standing behind them, asks, "What did your brother exactly give you?" Nami adds, "Not sure, I think it's just a piece of paper." Luffy, looking cheerful, says, "Dunno but since Ace told me to hang onto it, That's what I'll do!" Nami holds out her hand and says, "Here. Alright, I'll sew it in underneath the ribbon here..." Luffy hands her his straw hat, saying, "Thanks, Nami! It should be safe here!" Nami instructs, "So sew it in there tight!" Luffy smiles broadly, putting his hat back on, and says, "Now I won't need to worry about losing it!" Usopp, looking anxious in the background, asks, "What, you worry?"

On the deck of the Going Merry, Nami holds up a dark piece of clothing and tells Luffy, "Luffy, change into this." Luffy, looking confused, asks, "Huh? But why? It's hot outside." Nami explains, "You have to because it's so hot outside. The temperatures here can reach over 50 degrees. If you don't, you'll get sunburnt all over." Luffy points out, "Then why're you two wearing sleeveless stuff?" referring to Nami and Vivi. Nami replies, "We're going to be wearing additional clothing on top of this." Chopper is seen walking along the railing in the background. Suddenly, Nami looks shocked, sweat dropping from her face, and says, "Ahh! I think we're going the wrong way. We're heading away from the tip of the island." Luffy, now wearing the dark cloak, grumbles, "Oh fine. Guess I don't have a choice." A loud, jagged speech bubble bursts from off-panel, shouting, "WHAT! YOU ARE!?" The ship is shown sailing parallel to a desert coastline. Vivi clarifies, "Actually, this isn't the tip of the island. It's actually the mouth of the Sandora River." Nami looks at the coast and realizes, "Oh, you're right. You can see how the island coast continues on over on that side of the river."

Vivi points to a hand-drawn map of the region. She explains, "This is a rough map of the region here I sketched just now. Look." She points to their present location at the mouth of the Sandora River, near the port town of Nanohana. She traces a path up the river, saying, "We'll exit from the mouth of Sandora River and then head inland! Our destination is here!" She points to an 'X' marked "Base of the Rebels, Yuba Oasis". Luffy punches his palm enthusiastically and says, "And this leader of the rebels is in Yuba, right? And I just have to kick his ass, right!?" Vivi panics, waving her hands frantically, and yells, "NOOO! I'm going to stop the rebels through words. I don't want any more unnecessary bloodshed...!" Zoro, standing nearby, questions her plan, "But there's 700,000 of these rebels. You really think they'll just stop?" Vivi looks determined and replies, "Well... I'll find out the answer to that along our journey to Yuba, As I determine the extent to which Baroque Works, Has deceived and corrupted the citizens of Alabasta...!"

Vivi stands resolutely on the deck, her back to the crew, and declares, "But I swear I won't stop trying! I can't let this senseless violence continue! And I can't allow the Baroque Works to continue doing what it wants either!" The crew listens attentively. Zoro smiles and says, "Sorry for doubting..." Chopper looks excited, exclaiming, "I can't wait to start our journey!" Sanji, with hearts in his eyes, promises, "Well, don't you worry about our trek through the desert! I'll make sure you stay well-nourished!" Usopp looks serious and determined. Nami smiles and says, "Vivi..." Luffy pumps his fist in the air and shouts, "Alright, Vivi! Let's go! TO UPA WE GO!" Vivi corrects him, sweatdropping, "It's Yuba." Luffy immediately corrects himself, shouting even louder, "TO YUBA WE GO!" The Going Merry sails forward towards the desert coast.

Inside a dimly lit, opulent room, Crocodile sits in a large chair, his back to the viewer, petting a massive Bananagator. He asks, "Have you finished with the neccessary preparations?" Miss All Sunday (Nico Robin), sitting nearby with a drink, replies, "Yes, and there are no delays. 150 'Billions' Agents are awaiting orders at Nanohana." Crocodile states, "The operation begins two days from now at 7am." Miss All Sunday adds, "As for the officer agents, They'll all be meeting tonight at 8 at Spider's Cafe." Crocodile, his scarred face visible in profile, says, "I've also called back Mr. 2, as it sounded like he wasn't making much progress in finding Mr. 3..." Miss All Sunday smiles slightly and notes, "And it's just about 5 o'clock already." Crocodile responds, "Hm... Good."

A wide shot shows a desolate desert landscape. In the middle of nowhere stands a small building with a water tower next to it. A caption box identifies it as "Spider's Cafe (Baroque Works' Headquarters in Alabasta)". A voice from off-panel says, "They should all be arriving there any time now..." A close-up shows a wooden sign hanging on the door that reads "CLOSE". A scorpion crawls across the wooden porch in front of the door. Another sign hanging from a bracket reads "SPIDERS CAFE" with a spider logo. Inside the cafe, a woman with curly hair and glasses sits at a table, reading a book. A record player spins a vinyl record, playing music. On a stove, a large kettle is boiling, steam whistling from its spout.

The door to the cafe bursts open with a loud "BAM!!". A large, round woman with curly hair and sunglasses, identified by a caption as "Baroque Works Officer Agent Ms. Merry Christmas", storms in. She is yelling, "YEAHYEAH, MERRY CHRISTMAS MERRY CHRISTMAS! DAMMIT I'MTIRED! Yerslowness ismakingmy hipsache! Yabigidiot!" Following slowly behind her is a massive, slow-looking man carrying a huge bat strapped to his back. A caption identifies him as "Baroque Works Officer Agent Mr. 4". Ms. Merry Christmas continues her rant, "ONEHECKOFA LONGTRIP ITELLYAWHAT! OWWOWWOWW! MYHIPHURTS! THISISALLYER FAULTMR.4!" Mr. 4 simply stares blankly and slowly utters, "Uhh... S... Oooorrrrr..."

The woman behind the counter, identified by a caption as "Owner of Spider's Cafe Paula", greets the newcomers. "Haha, I haven't seen you two in a while. Hello, Ms. Merry Christmas and Mr. 4..." Ms. Merry Christmas grumbles, "HeyheyPaula. How'sbusiness? Don'tseeanybody inthecafetoday. Nobusiness,eh? Nobiz! OrN.B.forshort!" Paula stands with her hands on her hips and replies, "The cafe's specifically reserved for your people tonight." She then guesses their orders, "Let me guess. An orange pekoe tea for Ms. Merry Christmas and... An apple tea for Mr. 4...?" She pours hot water from the kettle into a teapot, asking, "So how's work these days?" Ms. Merry Christmas slams her hands on the counter, demanding, "Giveitgiveit giveitgiveit! C'mon then! Nothin'toohot! Makeitcoolenough soIcandrinkitright away,y'hear!?" Paula calmly remarks, "You're as spirited as always."

Ms. Merry Christmas continues her fast-paced rant, "Yascrewuponceandblam! 'Offwithyerhead!' Suresoundsgreatinnit? WHATTHEHELLDOYOU THINKIT'SLIKE!?" Paula, pouring the tea, apologizes, "Oh, right. Sorry for asking." Ms. Merry Christmas then notices the music, "Hm? Whatkindaweird songsyaplayingin yerstorethesedays? Songs?" Paula replies, "I only have a sonata playing. There shouldn't be any lyrics." Outside the cafe, a group of flamboyant men in ballet tutus and swan heads are dancing across the desert. They chant loudly, "Un! Deux! ORAA! Un! Deux! KURAA! Un! Deux! ORAA! Un! Deux! KURAA!"

A close-up reveals the face of a man with heavy makeup, rosy cheeks, and a swan-themed outfit. He is crying dramatically and says, "This wooorld is made of men and women... Buuuut an Okama is a man as well as a woman~" He strikes a pose in the desert, surrounded by his dancing followers, and declares, "Ergooo- THE STRONGEST! THE STRONGEST! THE STRONGEST! THE STRONGEST! THE STRONGEST! THE STRONGEST! Okaaaamaaa Waaayyyy! Okama Waaay!" He then spins rapidly towards the cafe door. He bursts through the door with a loud "BAM!!", striking a flamboyant pose and shouting, "HELLOOO! How's it hanging?" Inside, Ms. Merry Christmas looks at him in disbelief and asks, "What're you, retarded?"

Mr. 2 Bon Clay laughs uproariously, "GAHAHAHAHA! Oh, I'm not retarded, my dear Paula! Because I am an Okama!" He slams his hands on the counter and demands, "I'll have an octofait." Paula looks confused and asks, "A what now?" Mr. 2 replies, "Stoooop joooking around! An octopus parfait, of course! Don't you even know that, you silly goose? GAHAHAHAHA!" He then notices the others in the cafe. "Oh, is the fat old hag here tonight as well?" Ms. Merry Christmas angrily retorts, "Shaddup! Yourvoiceis painfullygrating onmyoldhips!" Mr. 2 turns to his followers outside and says, "Oh, right. You guys can go now. But don't slack off on your dance practices!" They reply, "Yes, sir! Yes, sir!" Mr. 2 sits at the counter and remarks, "Ah, that reminds me, I hear even Mr. 1 and his partner is supposed to come tonight. I've never met the pair so I've got a whole swarm of butterflies flyin' around in my stomach! I have heard that he's quite an intimidating figure though..." He then laughs again, "GAHAHAHA! Oh well! Doesn't bother me!"

Outside the cafe, a tall, muscular man with a shaved head and a kanji tattooed on his chest approaches. The moon is visible in the sky. Inside, Ms. Merry Christmas notes, "The night's getting old. Shouldn't it be 8 o'clock by now!?" Mr. 2 Bon Clay is spinning rapidly on the tip of his swan shoe on top of a table. He says, "Oh pooie, I'm soo bored. Perhaps I should spin. In fact, I think I shall. Fo... Fo... Fo... Fo..." Ms. Merry Christmas yells at him, "Stopthatokama! Yermakin'myeyes alldizzy!" Outside, the tall man drags two of Mr. 2's followers by their collars. Inside, Ms. Merry Christmas yells, "Stop that, you two!" Mr. 2, still spinning, challenges her, "OH, YOU WANNA TAKE ME ON, IS THAT IT!? AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO FIGHT, PANSY! Fo...! Fo...! Fo...! Fo...!" A clock on the wall ticks to exactly 8:00 PM.

Suddenly, a massive impact shatters the wall of the cafe. Mr. 2 Bon Clay is sent flying violently through the air, crashing into tables and chairs with a loud "CRASH!!!". Debris flies everywhere. Ms. Merry Christmas, Paula, and Mr. 4 look on in shock. Ms. Merry Christmas yells, "AHHH! WHAT HAPPENED? WHY DID YOU SUDDENLY FLY INTO THE CAFE LIKE THAT!?" Through the hole in the wall, a silhouette of a tall man can be seen standing outside. Mr. 2, lying amidst the rubble, groans, "It... It was him..." The tall man outside asks, "What, these your friends, okama?"

The tall man steps into the light, revealing himself. A caption identifies him as "Baroque Works Officer Agent Mr. 1". He has a stern face, a shaved head, and the kanji for "one" (壱) tattooed on his chest. He says calmly, "They were moving suspiciously across the desert so I taught them a lesson. Don't worry, they're not dead." Mr. 2 Bon Clay, furious, yells, "THEY'RE MY SUBORDINATES!" One of the beaten followers weakly cries out, "NO, MR. 2! STOP!" Mr. 1 looks down at Mr. 2 and warns, "Seems like you're quite attached to them. So let me just warn you that hanging around with freaks like them is only going to bring your own self down too."

Mr. 2 Bon Clay leaps into the air, his leg extended in a powerful kick. He shouts his attack name, "OKAMA KEMPO SWAN ARABESQUE!" He spins rapidly, chanting "UN! DEUX!" as he launches a flurry of kicks. Mr. 1 raises his arms to block the incoming assault. Mr. 2 lands a solid kick directly on Mr. 1's face, shouting "ORAAA!". The impact is forceful, causing Mr. 1 to grunt, "NGH!".

The force of Mr. 2's kick sends Mr. 1 flying backward. He crashes through the exterior wall of the cafe, shattering the wood and sending debris flying into the desert night. Ms. Merry Christmas watches in shock, exclaiming, "HUH? DID HE SLIP THROUGH THE WALLS? OR DID HE SOMEHOW SMASH THE WALLS?" Outside, amidst the rubble, Mr. 1 slowly stands up, dusting himself off. He glares back at the cafe and says menacingly, "So you have a death wish, do you now..."

Mr. 1 prepares to retaliate, saying, "Don't try to stop me, Ms. Double-Finger. I'll kill this little faggot!" Paula, now identified by a caption as "Paula (A.K.A. Baroque Works Officer Agent Miss Double-Finger)", steps between them. She commands, "THAT'S ENOUGH, MR. 1! CALM DOWN! BOTH OF YOU!" Mr. 2, still in a fighting stance, yells, "LET GO OF ME!" Miss Double-Finger stands firmly and states, "It's 8 o'clock now and all the officer agents are here. And as instructed by the letter mailed to Spider's Cafe..." She adjusts her glasses and smiles confidently, concluding, "We'll be heading to Rainbase, the city of dreams. That's where the mysterious man we call boss awaits us..."
