The scout reports that fire is rising from Barrels' hideout at the "hiding place of the pirate Barrels, Minion Island." Tsuru orders them to confirm what is happening. The page shifts the operation from Corazon's theft to the Marines' field response and shows that Tsuru has noticed unexpected activity at Minion.

The Marine scout ship moves toward the ghost town pirate hideout. Tsuru tells the scouts, "Investigate the coast as quickly as possible and if you see anyone suspicious, report them immediately!" The scout answers, "Roger!" but Tsuru also warns, "The trade will be called off! You guys sure are dumb. If they see you, we are currently headed to confirm this information!" At the hideout, Barrels is hanging in there but screams for his men to stop worrying about his bloody wounds and get back the Ope Ope no Mi. The snowy ghost town is littered with bodies and blood, with a "TRICKLE" sound effect, while Barrels shouts, "That thing is worth 50 billion berries!" The page shows the value of the stolen fruit and the chaos Corazon left behind.

Corazon returns to Law holding the Ope Ope no Mi and flashing a grin with a peace sign. Law is shocked, marked by "!!?" Corazon says, "Cora-san! Look! The Ope Ope no Mi!" and Law replies that the building is burning and he heard gunshots, thinking something might have happened. Corazon says he is okay and glad, then thrusts the fruit at him: "Oi! He stares at his hands in horror, realizing he has become a Devil Fruit user all at once, while Corazon pants and says he has not prepared himself. Suddenly Corazon collapses forward with a heavy "THAAP!!" and Law cries, "Wait, Cora-san! Becoming a Devil Fruit user all of a sudden..." The page turns the cure into panic: Law has eaten the fruit, but Corazon's wounds are worse than he let on.

Law calls, "Hey... Cora-san!?" as Corazon lies bleeding in the snow with "DRIP" and "TRICKLE" sound effects. Corazon tells him, "That should be enough, haa. You... you should now be able heal that illness on your own. We've beaten Doflamingo to the punch. This is our victory!" Law notices the blood and asks what is wrong, but Corazon says, "My bad, but... I have one last thing to ask of you." He admits, "But... just this... this ain't gonna be enough to stop Doffy." Law screams when he sees Corazon covered in blood: "You're covered in blood, Cora-san! Did you get shot!?" Corazon, panting, mutters that things did not go as smoothly as planned. The page makes the victory incomplete: Law has the fruit, but the danger around Doflamingo remains.

Law panics and shouts, "Goddamn it! What the hell do you mean didn't go as smoothly as planned!?" He tries to use the new power immediately, crying, "Heal! Heal! Oh yeah! Blood stop!!" Corazon pats him and says this is not magical power, reminding him that he already said that. Law asks what he should do, saying Corazon got shot for his sake, but Corazon answers, "I'm fine! This isn't enough to kill me. But, just for a little while, I need to do something to stop the bleeding. Do me a favor, Law!" He points out a Marine scout ship off the western coast of the island and gives Law a tube: "Any Marine, upon seeing this tube, should immediately understand." He says, "I hate to use you while you're weakened, but... deliver this to them for me!" Corazon explains that with this little thing they can save a faraway country, the kingdom of Dressrosa. Law is shocked: "Kingdom!? The Marines!?" The page gives Law the mission of delivering the secret information document.

Law sets out with the document. Corazon tells him that once he has delivered it, they are getting off the island. Law sees Marine figures and thinks, "Marines..." while another person notes, "This guy's by himself!" Law approaches a uniformed man in the snow, panting, "Hey... take this..." The man sees the tube and says, "Oh! An information document!" He takes it from Law, smiles, and asks, "Someone asked you to give this to me, didn't they?" Law, still weak, is reassured when the man says, "Thank you. I'll take care of this. Don't worry." The page is tense because Law believes he has found the right Marine, but the reader sees that the man is Vergo, a hidden Donquixote Family member.

Vergo notices Law's weak voice and asks, "But, little boy... your voice sounds quite weak... Are you... Can I trust you?" Law blurts out that there is someone he wants Vergo to save. Vergo says that if Law is talking about the document, he should not worry, but Law cries, "He's been shot, and he's going to die... Please, I'm beggin' you! Save him! I don't want him to die! Please, don't let him die!" Law explains through tears that Corazon was shot for his sake. From nearby, Corazon hears Law shout "Cora-saaan!" and sees the Marine whom Law says will tend to his wounds. Corazon reacts with shock, marked by "!!?" The page traps Law's desperate plea inside a misunderstanding: the man he is begging is not an ally.

Vergo appears before Corazon and Law, and Corazon recognizes him in alarm: "Vergo!" Vergo replies, "Corazon!? What the hell are you doing here!? You're terribly wounded too... Did you just... speak?" Corazon realizes the disaster: "Shit! I screwed up! I can't believe that this guy's top-secret mission was this!" Law is confused and asks, "Huh? Do you guys know each other? Who is Vergo? What...?" Corazon thinks that Vergo is one of their strongest members, but he has been away from the Family on some top-secret mission. Law wonders why Vergo is in the Marines if he is that guy. The page reveals that Vergo has infiltrated the Marines for Doflamingo, exactly where Law was sent for help.

Vergo crushes the tube with a loud "CRACK" as Corazon yells, "Stop! The document!" Vergo says nothing while Corazon curses his bad luck: "So Vergo's mission was infiltration of the Marines!? Of all the countless Marines on this sea..." Vergo says, "We had to run into this man." Corazon understands that Vergo has seen through him: "So that's how it is, Rocinante." Law is horrified. Vergo then attacks Corazon brutally, smashing him across the snowy ground as Law screams, "Cora-san!!!" The page destroys the last hope that the document will reach the Marines and exposes Corazon's identity as Rocinante to Vergo.

Law cries, "So you are that Vergo guy!" and tries to stop Vergo as Vergo continues beating Corazon. Vergo recognizes Law: "That means, you're that kid from the White City. Law, eh? I've heard about you. That both of you disappeared. And didn't return to us until 14 years later!" A translator note clarifies that Vergo is referring to Corazon by his title as Doffy's heart executive, the second Corazon. Vergo says that if the information got into the hands of the Marines, it would mean the end of the Family and every carefully laid plan from here on out. He kicks Law away while a subordinate shouts, "Mister Vergo!" Corazon cries, "Law!" The page shows Vergo's violence and how deeply the document threatened Doflamingo's operations.

Vergo says, "The second Corazon! It seems we've let quite the rat sneak into our midst!" Law shouts for him to stop and warns he is killing Corazon, but Vergo answers that because Corazon is Doffy's little brother, Doffy put his faith in him. Law screams as Vergo beats Corazon. Vergo then calls Doflamingo and says, "Keep it short and simple. What are you trying to say, Vergo?" Vergo answers that Corazon is a Marine spy and has been in the Family all this time to undermine Doflamingo and their plans. Doflamingo asks, "Where are you now, Doffy?" as the full betrayal reaches him. The page turns Corazon's secret from a personal danger into a direct report to Doflamingo.

Doflamingo and the Donquixote Family arrive on Minion. Doflamingo says they were observing the rendezvous point, Swallow Island, from afar, and two Marine battleships showed up. At that point he realized what was going on: the little brother he raised with loving hands had turned his own fangs against him. He tells the crew, "I've realized this much at least. You guys... you're my true Family!" Then he announces, "We've just landed on your island, Minion." The crew stands in the snow with Doflamingo, Trebol, Diamante, Pica, Buffalo, Baby 5, and others visible. Elsewhere, a Marine reports that Barrels' underlings are running around looking for the person who stole their Devil Fruit, and Doflamingo concludes Corazon must be the culprit and should have the Ope Ope no Mi with him. Vergo says that if Corazon is with Law, he should not let him escape. Doflamingo answers, "Right. Copy," and when Vergo says Corazon ran off, Doflamingo replies that as long as he has not left the city, it is fine. The page brings every faction onto Minion and makes Doflamingo's pursuit immediate.

This file carries the official "ONE PIECE ...CH. 766 END" strip, though file 18 appears to belong just before or alongside this final Birdcage reveal. Doflamingo raises his hand, and threads arc over the snowy town. A Marine shouts, "He won't be going anywhere!" People inside the town discover the threads: "These threads are hard as hell! They're sharp too!" and "We can't step outside them!" Corazon and Law realize what is happening, saying that it is most likely Doffy's powers and that they can say for sure this is the trap. The final wide panel shows a huge dome of threads enclosing Minion Island as the text concludes, "We no longer... have anywhere to run." The page reveals Doflamingo's Birdcage sealing the island.

This page appears after the ending page in the folder, but its events fit around the Birdcage climax. Doflamingo looks toward the sealed town and says, "I see, so this is hell." People trapped inside the cage cry out as a voice says, "Parasite threads inside the cage, eh?" Corazon realizes there is no saving him anymore, even after death, and thinks, "I should be able to get Law out." He tells Law, "Law, we've gotta move," because he is going to die with a smile on his face. Law panics, but Corazon grins through blood and says, "Let's go!!" while thinking, "After all, if one day... you're gonna remember me... isn't it better that you remember this smile?" The side note says, "To the friend with whom he will part... he gives a smile." The page explains the chapter title: Corazon chooses a smile as the image Law should carry forward.
