Okobore, the Town of Leftovers

In Wano Country, Kuri, Okobore, the Town of Leftovers, Tama recovers after drinking the river's poison. She wakes with a long, relieved "Mmmmmnn..." and soon stands up full of energy, saying, "I feel better!!" and "I can't thank ya enough!!" Tsuru explains that this quick recovery came from jyagan grass, "an extraordinarily potent specialised herb," but warns that the poison has not been fully removed from Tama's body. She tells the girl, "Make sure you don't drink the river water again, O-Tama." The cure saves Tama for the moment, yet the page keeps the danger present: the polluted river remains deadly, and even medicine can only push back the damage rather than erase it completely.

Tama immediately reaches for the river again, shouting, "I need water!! The river!!" and "It's a warrior's shame, a warrior's shame!!" Tsuru stops her, and Tama's stomach answers with a huge growl. The little girl admits, "All right... I'm done." Luffy watches Tsuru and blurts out, "Big mom was bigger," then thanks her anyway: "Oh, thanks. By the way, you're a huge woman!" O-Kiku modestly tries to introduce herself, saying, "It's a bit late to introduce myself, but... I am O-Kiku," only for Tama to panic, "No, no, no, no, I can't!!" The page shifts from medical rescue to hospitality, with Tsuru preparing to feed Tama and O-Kiku quietly entering the group around the tea house.

Tsuru places food in front of Tama, but the child refuses in shame. "I can't even pay for the medicine ya gave me... much less for this porridge!!" she says, and promises she will definitely find a way to repay Tsuru. Tsuru tells her not to worry about money and to eat, but Tama still says, "I cannot accept it!!" because Tsuru and O-Kiku have already saved her and are now offering food as well. Tsuru's kindness turns strict when she lifts Tama by the cheeks and scolds her: "Silence!! Do you think I'm just going to say 'Oh, I see,' nevermind then, to you saying 'no thank you,' after I took the time to prepare and serve this food!?" She says if Tama will not eat, she might as well pour it onto the road and waste it.

Tama finally accepts the porridge. Luffy and Zoro sit nearby as she hesitates, and Zoro asks, "How long are you going to sit and stare like that...?" Tsuru gently reframes the gift: "It's your birthday today, after all!" Tama realizes, "Oh, is that so!?" and then, "Yeah, it's true!" She takes the bowl, the porridge drips from the spoon, and the first taste overwhelms her. Tears pour down her face as she cries, "Yuuummy!!!" and "It's so deliciouuus!!!" The moment is small but devastating: a simple bowl of porridge becomes a birthday feast because Tama has been living with hunger so severe that ordinary food feels like a miracle.

Luffy asks whether this is the first time Tama has eaten porridge like that, and the answer is yes. Tsuru explains that Tama weaves bamboo hats all day and barely survives by eating millet, and sometimes nothing at all. Tama, still crying with happiness, says, "This is such a luxurious meal!!" and "It's got mochi in it!!" She calls it her best birthday ever, then feels guilty for her master while still singing, "Mochi, mochi." Luffy quietly points out that she can pop mochi out of her cheek whenever she wants, but that power does not stop hunger. Tama smiles through tears and says, "The best day of my life!!" before the emotion and fullness leave her exhausted in Tsuru's lap.

Tsuru explains the wider cruelty behind Tama's hunger. In the current Wano Country, children like O-Tama can be found everywhere. Luffy cannot accept it, asking how a little girl can go hungry in a land with rivers, mountains, and forests where no one should have trouble finding food. Tsuru answers that this would be true if certain people had not contaminated those natural resources. Although a child may eat once she gets older, the present situation is still outrageous. When Tsuru asks the strangers for their names, Zoro gives his cover identity, "I'm Zorojuro, a ronin!" Luffy tries to follow the disguise and says, "I'm Monkey D..." before correcting himself into "He's Luffytaro. That's right, I'm Luffytaro!! -gozaru!!"

Tsuru sees through their awkward speech and says, "Fluflu, you're foreigners, right?" but assures them nobody will rat them out. She guesses they somehow managed to enter the country successfully and explains that she herself is also new in town; O-Kiku has only been here for a month. Luffy asks why the place is called the Town of Leftovers, and Tsuru says the name is literal. The people here are leftovers from the town where the government officials currently reside. That is how everyone ended up here. When Luffy mentions Tama told him there is a place where the food is not poisonous, Tsuru points toward a mountain with no smoke rising above it and says there used to be a castle there, visible from the town.

Tsuru names the ruin: Oden Castle. Zoro reacts, "Oden Castle...!?" while Luffy tries to remember, "Oden... I think I've heard that name before... what was it again..." Tsuru explains that over twenty years ago, the Kouzuki Clan ruled over Wano and had done so for a very long time. At the base of that mountain was a vast farm built by the now-deceased Lord Oden so the residents of Kuri could eat delicious food. It was a paradise, nothing like the food that Orochi and his subordinates now manipulate. Luffy asks whether that place has food without any poison, and Tsuru confirms it has delicious, safe ingredients, clean water, and clothes. But now Shogun Orochi owns that farm.

Tsuru explains the geography of oppression. Behind the torii is the town where all government officials reside, filled with people and things they no longer need. The poor survive by buying the rotting ingredients those officials sell them. Tsuru says it is fine, at the very least they can survive there, and that is why the place is called the Town of Leftovers. As she speaks, Zoro suddenly reacts. His blade flashes, cutting through the air in front of Tsuru, and everyone is startled. The peaceful explanation of poverty is interrupted by danger arriving silently. What seemed like a conversation outside a tea house becomes another attack before the group has finished understanding the town's structure.

A winged Gifter appears overhead: Batman, a Bat Smile user. He laughs, "Ki ki ki ki!!" and shouts, "I heard you, womaaaaaan!!!" He heard Tsuru insult the shogun from far away, because his hearing ability is six times that of a normal human's. Batman says, "You were talking bad about the shogun, weren't you!?" and warns that if Tsuru had just kept quiet, he would not have had to do anything. Zoro is furious that Batman's arrow nearly killed Tsuru; he says if it had hit her, she would have died. O-Kiku checks on Tsuru while Batman insists that Master Orochi would never tolerate any rebellious talk. The surveillance of Wano becomes literal: even private speech can be heard, punished, and reported.

Batman claims there was a theft at the farm a few weeks ago and that they are hunting the thieves. He says it would not happen to have been Luffy and Zoro, would it, because they are ronin. Zoro recognizes him from a sketch drawing and says, "Wait a second... you one-eyed ronin...!! I saw you on one of the sketch drawings!!" Batman fires arrows, but Zoro blocks them, leaving Batman shocked: "Who are you!? You blocked the arrows..." In the confusion, a second Gifter rushes through at blinding speed. Luffy sees the movement too late, Tama vanishes, and he screams, "Tama!!?" The page turns the accusation into the real attack: while Batman distracts them, someone else kidnaps the child.

The kidnapper is Gazelleman, a Gazelle Smile user. He races away carrying Tama and boasts, "Hohohoho!! I am Daten!! I can move at a speed of 200 kilometres an hour!!" Tama cries, "Waaa aaah!! Big bro, save meeee!!!" and "I got kidnapped...!!" Luffy grabs for them, but Gazelleman's legs are too fast, and even Koma-chiyo barks and gives chase too late. Luffy leaps onto Koma-chiyo and shouts, "Let me ride you, Komanu!!" The rescue mission immediately changes direction. Tama has just survived poison and hunger, only to be taken by Kaido's forces because her ability to tame animals has already made her valuable.

Luffy and Zoro give chase, but O-Kiku suddenly joins them with a sword. Zoro exclaims, "That girl took a sword!!" Tsuru says she has heard O-Kiku knows how to use it, though she has never seen her use it in person. O-Kiku calls after them, "Take me, too!!" and Luffy answers, "Doooooooog!!" as they rush forward. She lands with them and calls, "Luffy-taro!! Zoro-juro!!" Tsuru gasps over the state of Luffy's arm, while Zoro asks why the enemy would take the kid. O-Kiku admits, "I'm not sure!! But we have to take her back!!" The group is now Luffy, Zoro, and O-Kiku riding out together after Tama, with the tea house left behind in alarm.

Gazelleman disappears almost unnaturally fast, and Zoro says it is almost like the kidnapping was planned out. O-Kiku opens a notebook and explains their destination. They should be heading toward the government official district, where there are three Headliners: Hawkins, Holdem, and Speed. On top of that, around thirty people there have gained abilities from some kind of mysterious Artificial Fruit. Luffy asks who exactly O-Kiku is. She grips the sword and, while the note explains she uses the term "sessha" to address herself, says, "I am... a samurai!!" Her declaration places her not as a helpless tea house poster girl, but as someone ready to ride directly into enemy territory.

Gazelleman reaches the officials' side and reports to Holdem: "Master Holdem!! This is Gazelleman!! As per the reports... we've captured the girl who tamed the baboon!!" Tama screams, "Let go o' meeee!!" and calls for Luffy. Holdem, hidden in shadow, is pleased: "Well done. She should be useful. Bring her here." O-Kiku, Luffy, and Zoro continue racing toward the Bakura District, which O-Kiku identifies as the government officials' and pirates' territory. She warns, "We're breaking in!!" and, "Luffy-taro, everyone!!" The chapter's rescue objective is now clear: Tama has been delivered to Holdem, and Luffy's group is charging straight into Kaido's controlled district to get her back.

Luffy and Zoro smile as the situation escalates, and Luffy says, "Let's do this!!" O-Kiku notices the grin and asks, "Are you smiling?" Elsewhere, the Heart Pirates receive the news with alarm: "It's terrible, Captain!!" Their captain hears that Straw Hat and Roronoa are heading to the Bakura District, and someone adds, "Straw Hat-ya is in Wano!?" Trafalgar Law snaps into motion, shouting, "Wait a second...!! There's no way he won't cause trouble!! That's why we told you!! We have to go stop those idiots!!" The chapter ends with Law realizing Luffy is already in Wano and already rushing into trouble, while the alliance's careful plan begins to move out of control.
