They say they have five hours until Ace's execution and no idea when Whitebeard will appear, meaning they are entering the most dangerous time. Even after searching the island, the Royal Shichibukai Blackbeard is nowhere to be found. Then another report comes in: a single battleship without any clearance has just reached Impel Down. It sounds impossible, but the Marines believe it. The report links the crisis at the prison with the wider war preparations, showing Marine Headquarters losing track of several threats at once.

At Impel Down's main entrance, Blackbeard and his crew step off the unauthorized battleship. A guard begs them to wait, saying no reinforcements have been requested, the prison is in an emergency situation, and nobody can take responsibility. Blackbeard says he does not care. A crew member asks whether they are on the same side, but another answers that for pirates, no matter the circumstances, they are not. Blackbeard's crew immediately attacks, and the guards are swept away screaming, "Uwa-aaaaahh!!!" Blackbeard smiles with "Zehahaha..." and says the place has a gloomy feel.

The guards report that the Marines on the battleship Blackbeard came on have been wiped out. Blackbeard's crew ignores orders to stop and advances into the prison. Teach uses his darkness with a cry of "Liberation!!!" and blows through a wall or gate, making guards shout that they are intruders. The report names them: the Royal Shichibukai Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, and his pirates. Their objective is unknown, but they have entered the prison and are clearly hostile. A guard is pulled into the darkness, realizing it is the same darkness that made the guards disappear a second ago.

Hannyabal breaks down under the pressure. He thinks, "It's over... My life is over... No, wait!!! It's only just beginning!! My dark life of being unable to become warden!!! It's starting now." The prison map shows the simultaneous chaos: Blackbeard's crew is at the main entrance, Buggy and Mr. 3 are on Level 2, and Luffy's group is on Level 4 with Crocodile, Jimbei, Ivankov, Inazuma, Mr. 2, Mr. 1 and prisoners. Magellan arrives after dealing with the chaos on Level 2 and says he has sealed off that floor; the others will be dealt with soon enough. Buggy's group, meanwhile, panics because there is a giant ball of poison blocking the doorway. They curse Magellan's makeshift obstacle and realize it is bad. Hannyabal decides they cannot ask Marine Headquarters for reinforcements because they need to pull through on their own. He orders all available forces to move to suppress the prisoners on Level 4. When Magellan says he is on his way too, Hannyabal tells him to hold on until he makes it there, but the warden is already charging forward.

On Level 6, Infinite Hell, Shiryu of the Rain is officially set loose. He complains that infinite boredom really makes someone want to die and tells Magellan he hopes this is not just a temporary release for convenience, only to put him back in a cell later. A title box identifies him as Impel Down Head Guard Shiryu of the Rain. Magellan says Shiryu is still on death row and merely has his sentence postponed, so he should not get any more chances. Shiryu accepts that and says he will keep it in mind. Magellan returns his sword and orders him, "Take care of Blackbeard."

Shiryu receives his sword with a "Gacha..." and says it has been a while since he held a blade. The nearby guards stare in fear. Then, without hesitation, Shiryu cuts them down, saying, "My apologies for cutting you down..." as they scream. The scene cuts back to Level 4, Inferno Hell, where Luffy, Ivankov and the escape group push onward through fallen guards and rubble. Luffy calls to Inazuma, "Hey, crab man!! Where're the stairs to Level 3!?" and Inazuma answers, "To the left!!" The contrast is stark: as Luffy climbs upward, an even more dangerous man has been released below.

The escapees seize momentum on Level 4. They shout that they have taken the guard room and stolen the keys. Prisoners are told, "If you want to escape, get out of your cells!! This is your big chance to escape!! Let's go together!!" Inmates thank the escape force for letting them go. But the Blue Gorillas crash into the scene with a heavy "Dododn!!" and someone screams, "Damn, it's the Blue Gorillas!!!" The liberating chaos is immediately met by prison counterforce, turning the rush toward the upper floors into another brawl.

Head Jailer Saldeath appears with the Blue Gorillas, shouting for them to go wild and promising thanks. He orders the Blue Gorillas to get the giant-faced okama king too. One guard cries that the entire Blue Gorilla squad was defeated with one attack, while Ivankov laughs and admits he has no idea what is going on. The Demon Beast Guards arrive: all three of them appear at once. Reinforcements shout that Sadi-chan came to help, and the Demon Beast Guards prepare to attack. Jimbei tells Luffy to go and says he will support him, though he admits he is not of much use on land. Luffy says Jimbei looks plenty strong to him. Around them, Crocodile reacts to weakness, Bon Clay and the others scream as the demon beasts crash in, and the battlefield becomes a pileup of monstrous guards and desperate prisoners. The escape route is still open, but it is being defended by Impel Down's strongest beasts.
