Docking at Alabasta

The Straw Hats stand on the shore overlooking the sprawling city of Nanohana with its minarets and domes. A speech bubble states, “Trying to find Luffy in a city as large as Nanohana’s going to be near-impossible!” In the next panels the group discusses their next move. Someone says, “What should we doI” Sanji replies, “If there’s something to worry about, he’ll be there for sure.” Nami adds, “Don’t worry, Vivi. All we have to do is look in the noisiest part of town.” Usopp laughs, “Hahaha, so true.” Vivi responds, “For now, we should go and eat something as well. We can think about all that stuff later.” Sanji agrees, “Just leave him be.” Nami worries, “I wish he’d pay just a little more attention to that, especially in a country as large as Alabasta…! It’s the fact that he’s completely clueless to the bounty placed on his head.”

A massive impact shakes the rocky coast as a Baroque Works ship crashes ashore. “WHAT!I” someone yells while large onomatopoeia “ばッ んッ!!” and “はッ――” explode across the panel. Nami stares in shock, “Wait, look…! That’s Mr. 3’s ship!” In a close-up she continues, “That ship can only be operated by the power of the Doru doru fruit… So he must be here in this country…” Mr. 3, bandaged and sweating, quacks “Quack” and mutters, “Don’t tell me… He survived…!I” The scene shifts to the bustling streets of Nanohana where a camel with a cannon on its back walks among crowds, accompanied by sound effects “わいわい” and “がゃがゃ”.

Inside a lively restaurant, townspeople gossip. One man says, “That marine called Smoker’s pretty famous too!” Another adds, “Did you hearI He’s one of the Whitebeard pirates…” A woman asks, “SoI” At a table, a figure in a spotted outfit asks, “What d’ya want me to do…I” The final panels reveal Smoker facing Ace. Smoker says, “Sorry.” Ace, cigar in mouth and glaring, demands, “Give yourself up without resisting.” Smoker replies, “No can do, Smoker.”

Luffy sniffs the air intensely, eyes wide as dramatic scent lines and onomatopoeia fill the panel. "SNIFF SNIFF" "What's thatI I smell something strange..." he mutters. In the street below, he spots a restaurant and points excitedly. "A RESTAURANT! OVER THERE!" Inside the bustling eatery, Luffy sits at a table opposite a tall, shirtless man with a black hat and tattooed arm. The man, Ace, speaks calmly while eating. "So just look the other way then....I'm already on the hunt for another pirate right now. So I don't particularly care about taking your head..." Luffy replies firmly, "I'm afraid I can't do that."

Ace stands up, flames and smoke erupting around him as he glares at Luffy. "AND YOU'RE A PIRATE, THAT IS...! AS LONG AS I'M A MARINE, モ..." A close-up shows his intense face. In the next panel, a smiling man in a turban watches as Ace suddenly kicks Luffy with tremendous force. "Well, let's see what ya got. What a dull reason... YAHOO!" The impact sends Luffy flying backward through the air in a massive "ROCKET!" explosion of debris and motion lines. Luffy yells in shock, "WHA!I GAHH!"

Luffy rockets back into the restaurant, smashing through the wall and ceiling in a cloud of rubble. "WOO HOO! FINALLY A RESTAURANT! I'M STARVING! GYAAA!" he shouts joyfully. Diners react in panic. The turbaned man sweats nervously. "Umm... You might... want to run for it, kid." Luffy lands at a table and demands loudly, "GIMME SOME FOOD, MISTER!" Other patrons scream in terror. Outside the restaurant "Spice Bean," Luffy's voice echoes, "DAMN, THE FOOD HERE IS GREAT! MMMM MMMM!" as a small voice replies, "I-thanks..."

The restaurant is wrecked, a gaping hole in the wall. Ace stands amid the rubble and apologizes politely. "Pardon me for intruding during your meal." A close-up shows Luffy's angry face. "Damn it... Who was that punk!I" Ace walks away down the street. "LIGHT" flashes as he checks a small black device. Luffy pursues through the damaged town. "How dare h-" In a final close-up, the turbaned man's eyes bulge in shock as he recognizes the intruder. "HEY, LUF-" while Luffy stares back, sweat dropping. "U..."

Luffy sits at a wooden counter devouring massive amounts of food with wild abandon, cheeks stuffed and hands grabbing more. A sudden explosion of debris erupts behind him as a tall figure crashes through the wall. Smoker stands amid the rubble, jitte drawn, coat billowing, glaring furiously. Large bold text declares "STRAW-HAAAT!" while sound effects like ガッガッパクモグ and バクバク fill the air. In smaller panels, Luffy continues stuffing his face with noodles and meat, completely ignoring the intruder. Smoker, now standing inside the ruined restaurant, demands, "So you did come to this country, after all..." and snaps, "CAN'T YOU STOP EATING FOR JUST ONE SECONDI" Luffy keeps chewing noisily with ムシャムシャ and バリバリ effects as smoke and dust swirl around them.

Smoker glares with cigar in mouth while Luffy stares back with wide eyes, still eating. Smoker introduces himself: "A captain at the Marine HQ. My name's Smoker," as sound effects ギャアア and ボボボ echo. Luffy, mouth full, blurts muffled words "MMN DMM MOG FMM! (YOU'RE THAT SMOKE-DUDE!I)". Smoker reacts with shock, shouting "WHAM RMM NUU DON EER!I (WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE!I)" while Luffy continues devouring plates. Suddenly Luffy leaps up in panic, yelling "WAAAIT!" as he flees, knocking over tables. Smoker gives chase with intense expressions and more eating sounds ムシャムシャ. Tashigi appears in the background looking surprised as the restaurant descends into chaos with "MMNF NRR GRRB (THANKS FOR THE GRUB!)" and "YOU LITTLE PIECE OF S..." visible in speech bubbles.

Luffy sprints desperately down a street with motion lines, thinking "MMNF DDNNR PFF! (JUST GOTTA RUN FOR IT!)" and "MMNN BFFHH MMNN! (DAMMIT, NONE OF MY ATTACKS WORK ON THAT GUY!)". Suddenly she hears "STOP HIM! IT'S STRAW-HAT!" and reacts with shock. Luffy dashes past in panic. Tashigi draws her sword with a sharp "SLASH" and "んっ!!" sound, yelling "Y-YES, SIR!". Luffy turns with a determined face shouting "STRAWHATI". The chase intensifies with "DASH" effects and motion lines as Tashigi pursues Luffy through the crowded town. Onlookers shout "WHO'S THAT!I" while buildings and palm trees blur past in the background.

A massive explosion rocks the town as Smoker charges forward. "DASH!" he yells, smoke billowing around him. In a close-up, Smoker glares with a cigar in his mouth, muttering "HMPH!" while Japanese sound effects emphasize his movement. From above, Tashigi spots the chaos below and shouts, "Look! It's a fight between devil fruit users! TASHIGI! CALL UP THE OTHER MARINES IN THIS TOWN AT ONCE AND HAVE THEM SCOUR THIS ENTIRE CITY TO ARREST STRAWHAT AND HIS CREW!" A subordinate responds, "YES, CAPTAIN!" Smoker then launches his attack, roaring "WHITE SNAKE!" as his smoke-formed serpent slams into an opponent, sending the man flying with a pained "NGHH! UOOHH!" and a heavy impact "ズドンッ!!" while the victim yells in agony.

In the outskirts of the port city Nanohana, Nami walks confidently in an ornate dancer-style outfit, hands on her hips. She remarks, "This is just the kind of thing I like! Oh, how lovely!" while a narration box notes the location. Nami continues, "Sorry if I sound like I'm complaining after making you go out and buy clothes, Sanji, but... These dresses make us look more like exotic dancers than inconspicuous civilians..." Sanji, hearts in his eyes and nose bleeding, replies enthusiastically, "As long as we don't look like pirates and you don't look like a princess, it's all good, rightI Oh, it's all fine, isn't itI Aren't dancers civilians as wellI" He adds, "Don't worry. I'll carry you if you get tired. Oho ho! But to walk across the desert in this is..." A large sound effect "どーん!!" punctuates the scene as Nami stands tall in her flowing attire.

The crew sits near stone steps in Nanohana. Sanji asks, "HmI What's wrong, ChopperI" while a bearded man comments on their outfits, "How're we any different from youI But those outfits make you look like bandits! You might be trying to hide the fact that you're pirates, but compared to the 2 lovely ladies, the rest of you guys are just..." Chopper, in his hat, reacts to the town's famous perfumes, sniffing and saying, "Nanohana is also famous for its perfumes. Is that soI Your nose must be quite sensitive, Chopper. PerfumeI My nose feels like it's tearing apart..." Suddenly a long-haired man with a scar appears, yelling "WHAT WAS THAT!I" as Chopper recoils in shock with "WHAT'S THAT!I" and a burst of perfume smoke erupts. The group reacts wildly with cries of "OOHHH, I could fall in love with you all the way to the gates of hell!! STOP THAT! WAHH! Like this one here! Yes, they're made from mixing very pungent ingredients so..." while Chopper and others gag and flail.

Overlooking the port town, Nami asks Vivi, "So Vivi, where do we head from hereI" Vivi replies, "In any case, we now have all the supplies we need to cross the Alabastan desert... So we'll head over to the oasis town called Yuba, which is being used as the base of operation by the leader of the rebel forces. Well... First, we have to stop the rebel forces! In a bustling town street, a hooded figure watches the chaos and mutters, "Maybe some pirate appeared." Another voice notes, "Sounds like there's something going on in town..." Suddenly Luffy bursts forward with a furious punch, shouting "IT'S YOU!!" as dramatic impact lines and "あぁぁぁ" fill the panel. A nearby fighter slumps with a "SLUMP" sound. The Straw Hat crew reacts in the lower panels: "The rest of you stand back down!" one orders. "LOOK! THERE'S THE REST OF HIS CREW!" another yells. "OH, FOR THE LOVE OF—" a voice cuts off. "HEY, ZORO!" calls out. "CAPTAIN!" someone shouts as "Yo, is everyone all here!I" and "YOU IDIOT! LOSE THEM FIRST BEFORE YOU COME HERE!" ring out amid the "ドカッ!!" impacts and frantic motion.

Luffy launches a powerful "WHITE BLOW!" fist that sends his opponent flying with a "GAH!" and massive impact lines. The enemy counters with "HEAT HAZE!" creating swirling smoke and flames as "ブチ" and "!!I" effects explode across the panel. Luffy presses on, declaring "I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE!" while the smoke wielder grits through the assault. In the next beat Luffy lands another strike, yelling "Give it a rest." The smoke man, now clearly visible with a stern glare, replies "So it's you." with sweat drops and tension lines emphasizing the standoff.

A tall, shirtless man with a black hat, orange beads, and tattooed arms appears amid swirling flames and smoke, declaring "You might be smoke, but I'm fire." He continues, "A match between our abilities won't get us anywhere." Close-up, he grins and tells the shocked Luffy, "You haven't changed at all. Have you, LuffyI" Luffy's eyes widen in disbelief as he gasps "ACE...!I" with sweat flying. Background crew members react with "WHO'S THAT...!I" while the mysterious man keeps his confident smirk.
