Two Changes You Need to Know

Inside a grand underwater palace with coral pillars and arched architecture, narration explains: "FOR WHATEVER REASON, IN THE ANCIENT WORLD THERE EXISTED......THREE GREAT WEAPONS WITH POWER ENOUGH TO DESTROY THE WORLD." A small fish-man stands on the steps as a large fish-man with a spiky head and striped clothing sits nearby. Speech bubbles label the weapons: "URANUS" "...", "PLUTON" "...", and "...AND 'POSEIDON'." Further text states: "...EACH BEARING THE NAME OF A GOD." "THREE ANCIENT WEAPONS..." A close-up shows a serious dark-haired woman with a headpiece saying, "I CANNOT DENY IT." Another voice continues, "AND ONE OF THOSE THREE WEAPONS... IS YOUR DAUGHTER."

The conversation continues in the palace hall. A voice warns: "...WOULD DOUBTLESS SEEK TO OBTAIN PRINCESS SHIRAHOSHI'S POWER FOR THEMSELVES. INCLUDING BOTH PIRATES, AND THE GOVERNMENT...!!" Another replies: "I CAN SEE WHY YOU WOULD KEEP THIS A CLOSELY-GUARDED SECRET. IF THE WORLD WERE TO FIND OUT ABOUT THIS, ALL MANNER OF DIFFERENT FACTIONS..." A grotesque fish-man with bulging eyes and sharp teeth reacts in shock, exclaiming "KEHIHIHIHIHIHI! I SEE, I SEE... THAT MERMAID PRINCESS, EH...I" with large sound effects "どん!" and "ゴゴゴゴ..." A puddle forms as text notes: "AN ANCIENT WEAAAPONI! A POWER CAPABLE OF DESTROYING THE WOOORLDI!" The scene shifts to a lively group including Luffy, where someone asks, "COULD I SPEAK TO YOU SOMEWHERE MORE PRIVATEI" Luffy responds enthusiastically while others react with surprise.

Luffy grins widely and greets his crew: "OH, HEY! YOU GUYS ARE OUT HERE TOOI" Nearby, Sanji lies on the floor saying, "SANJI'S RECOVERING FROM A MERMAID OVERDOSE. AND I ATE TOO MUCH. I'M STUFFED. I DRANK A LITTLE TOO MUCH! I CAME OUT HERE TO SOBER UP." while Nami rests nearby. The scene changes to a grand hall where a small character exclaims, "WHAAAAATI! AKAINU AND AOKIJI HAD A BIG FIGHTI!!" Another notes, "I KNEW IT... THAT RAYLEIGH DOESN'T DO THINGS BY HALVES." A close-up of Luffy shows wide-eyed shock as he learns: "SENGOKU HIMSELF RECOMMENDED AOKIJI, A MAN WHO COMMANDS GREAT RESPECT FROM HIS SUBORDINATES. BUT AMONGST THE UPPER ECHELONS OF THE WORLD GOVERNMENT, AKAINU BECAME THE FAVOURED CANDIDATE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WAR TWO YEARS AGO, FLEET ADMIRAL SENGOKU STEPPED DOWN FROM HIS POST. THIS GAVE RISE TO THE QUESTION OF HIS SUCCESSOR."

Narration explains the fierce opposition between two admirals over the Fleet Admiral position. Aokiji objected vigorously to Akainu becoming Fleet Admiral. The terms were clear: the loser would forfeit all further right to object. Their conflict culminated in an all-out battle on a certain island. In the end, this unprecedented conflict between two Marine admirals ended with the victor taking absolute control of the Marine forces. Though the two admirals were almost equal in strength, one man ultimately emerged victorious. The battle raged for ten whole days on Punk Hazard, with the world waiting on tenterhooks. Luffy reacts with shock, "......!"

Luffy reacts in shock, "AKAINU....!!!" Narration reveals Sakazuki is the new Fleet Admiral of the Marines. The victor was Akainu!! Aokiji staunchly refused to serve under Akainu's command, so he left the Marines. Even Akainu could not find it in himself to slaughter the one-time ally who lay helpless before him. Both parties were severely wounded. So did Aokiji die, thenI Someone asks, "Then Aokiji isn't a Marine any more...I" The narration concludes, "One thing is certain - the Marines have lost a powerful asset."

Jinbe addresses the crew: "Listen carefully, all of you. If nothing else, you should be aware of two great changes that have shaken the New World in the past two years. But the measures the government subsequently took to make up for that loss... have granted the Marines frightful new power....!!!" The first change is that under Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, Marine HQ has become a more powerful force for justice than ever before. Luffy exclaims about Blackbeard, "BLACKBEARD...THE CREW WE MET BACK IN MOCK TOWN!! THE GUY WHO CRUSHED MY HOMETOWN!!" Jinbe continues, "After the old man's death, he was able to conquer those regions almost immediately. A feat he accomplished using none other than the Gura Gura powers that he stole from the old man himself."

Jinbe declares, "...In the same breath as Red-Hair, Kaido and Big Mom, as a member of the Yonko....!!! He already has the people of the world referring to him... Truly, he is a despicable man....!!!" The Blackbeard Pirates' primary aim is to acquire the most powerful Devil Fruit abilities they can obtain. Rumour has it that his crew are actively hunting down users of Devil Fruit abilities. It seems that they possess some means of killing Devil Fruit users and taking their abilities for themselves. Luffy reacts, "Luffy....!!!" Jinbe insists, "It is imperative that... Luffy-kun in particular has earned the personal attention of 'Blackbeard' Teach himself... ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO MEI!!!"

The Straw Hats and allies gather inside the palace. Jinbe confronts Luffy directly: "SHOULD A CAPTAIN NOT BEAR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LIVES OF HIS CREW, LUFFYI!!!" Sanji adds, "HMI ISN'T A 'CAPTAIN' SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T LISTEN TO WHAT ANYBODY SAYSI" while another voice insists, "IT'S ALL RIGHT, JINBE. AT LEAST THE REST OF US KNOW NOW. YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE CAPTAIN OF THIS CREW!!! YOU NEED TO KNOW THE BASICS!!!" Nearby, crew members devour Fish-Man Island sweets, shouting "HEY, HAVE YOU TRIED THESE FISHMAN ISLAND SWEETSI!! THEY'RE SO TASTY!! THE MEAT'S TOO GREAT!!" Camie explains Shirahoshi's absence: "APPARENTLY SHE ISN'T USED TO DRINKING, SO IT WENT TO HER HEAD A LITTLE. SHE'S RETIRED TO HER ROOM." Luffy beams widely as he declares, "ANYWAY, JINBE, NO NEED FOR ALL THE COMPLICATED STUFF! I JUST DEAL WITH THINGS AS THEY COME!!" In the lower panels, Luffy suddenly senses something off, muttering "NOW YOU MENTION IT... I DO SENSE SOMETHING," while Sanji and Zoro react with "SANJI!" and "HEY, ZORO" amid impact sounds and motion lines.

Outside the Ryuuguu Palace Shell Tower, Shirahoshi is violently seized by Vander Decken. She screams in terror, "WHO ARE YOUI! WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU WANTI!! PLEASE STOP DOING THIS!" while muffled cries of "MMMHHH HHHH!!" and "MMMPH!! MMMM NHHH!!" escape her. Vander Decken looms over her, declaring "KEHIHIHIHIHI!!! NO NEED TO LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT NOW, PRINCESS!! IT AIN'T LIKE I'M GONNA GO HURTING YOU OR ANYTHING!! WITH ALL THE TREASURE I'VE FOUND, I DON'T CARE ABOUT KIDNAPPING MERMAIDS TO SELL ANY MORE... BUT YOU'RE A SPECIAL CASE!!" Shirahoshi continues to struggle and cry out for help: "SOMEBODY...!!! ANYBODY...!!!" as the villain laughs and drags her through the water, "SO IF YOU'LL GO TO SLEEP FOR ME FOR A LITTLE WHILE... YEAHI!!" The scene shifts to Neptune reacting with fury at the intrusion.

Inside the palace, Luffy munches on food with a "MUNCH" as chaos erupts outside. A massive figure crashes through, prompting Luffy's shocked "!!!" and "はっ!!!" Vander Decken's grotesque face fills the panel, roaring "AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAARGH HHHHHHHH!!!" while Shirahoshi's desperate voice calls "LUFFY-SAMA...!" and "STRAWAAW HAAAAAAA AAAAT!!!" Luffy stares in alarm. Shirahoshi, covered in slime and tears, clutches Luffy and cries, "OH, LUFFY-SAMA!! UWAAA AAAAAAHHH!! I WAS SO SCARED!!" as the villain's laughter echoes. Background figures react with panic while Luffy processes the sudden attack.

Neptune bursts onto the scene in rage: "TO THINK THAT THE DESPICABLE TREASURE THIEF WAS STILL LURKING WITHIN THE PALACE...!!! ORDINARILY, THE CASTLE SECURITY IS SO TIGHT THAT NOT EVEN A GOLDFISH COULD ENTER UNDETECTED, BUT DURING THE BATTLE, THE GATE WAS LEFT WIDE OPEN...!!! I MUST OFFER YOU MY DEEPEST GRATITUDE ONCE MORE!!! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE DISASTER!!!" Guards and the Minister of the Left discuss the intruder: "FORGET JUST SLICING UP THE CAGE TO ESCAPE, HE SLICED RIGHT THROUGH THE WHOLE DAMN ROOM WHILE HE WAS AT IT - NO, IT WAS THIS GUY WHO SLICED UP THE TOWER!!" "DOUBTLESS THIS TOO IS THE HANDIWORK OF THAT NO-GOOD TREASURE-THIEF..." The Minister warns, "...MADE OFF WITH ALL THE TREASURE IN THE CASTLE'S VAULTS!!!" Shirahoshi raises her hand in alarm, "WHATI! YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT GUY......HOLD ON A MINUTE, MINISTER OF THE LEFT-CHAN! WHAT'S THIS ABOUT A 'TREASURE THIEF'I" as suspicion grows among the group.

King Neptune sits heavily on his throne, trident in hand, as he addresses the room. "AFTER WE CAME SO CLOSE TO LOSING THE LIVES OF OUR PRECIOUS SUBJECTS......TREASURE DOESN'T SEEM SO IMPORTANT ANY MORE." A voice replies sharply from off-panel, "BUT THESE ARE PRICELESS ROYAL TREASURES, RIGHT!I AREN'T YOU GOING TO GO AFTER HIMI!" Below, several figures react in shock. One demands, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TIE HIM UP AND KEEP HIM AS A PRISONERI!" Another questions, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, SENDING THAT SCOUNDREL FLYING OUT OF THE PALACE...I!" A third exclaims, "YOU WOULD BE FREE TO KEEP IT. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO KNOW THAT IT WAS IN THE HANDS OF MY COUNTRY'S SAVIOURS!" Nami smiles with hands clasped, "THEN SUPPOSING IF, LET'S SAY, WE HAPPENED TO RECOVER ALL THAT TREASURE..." An unseen speaker shouts, "REALLYI!" In the next panel King Neptune's eyes widen in alarm as he realizes, "SOMETHING STRANGE HAS HAPPENED TO HODY AND HIS MEN!! THEIR HANDCUFFS FELL OFF, AND..." Hody Jones plummets from the high tower, roaring "YOU GET OUT THERE AND FIND HIM RIGHT NOW!!!" as he falls with a long scream "AAAAAAAAH HHHHHHH!!!"

A massive close-up shows Hody Jones's furious face as he snarls, "OUR HATRED WILL NOT FADE... WE WILL HAVE OUR REVENGE!!! BRING STRAW HAT TO ME AT ONCE... I'LL SLAUGHTER HIM!!! WORTHLESS HUMANS!!!" The scene shifts to the prison tower where several striped-uniform prisoners react. One long-bearded inmate says, "MUSSHI... WE WILL BE THE JUDGES OF HUMANITY..." Another declares, "WE OUGHTTA TAKE REVENGE ON THOSE STRAWHATS, FOSUN!" A third laughs, "HAHAHAH AH... I HAVE AGED ON PURPOSE..." while coughing, "JAHHAHAHAH YAHYURGH!... *COUGH*..." A fourth groans, "AM I DRUNKI MY JOINTS ARE ACHING LIKE CRAZY..." Below them the rest of the crew howls with laughter and heavy breathing: "HYAHAH HYHYAHH *PANT*... *PANT*..."

King Neptune stares in disbelief, "IS THIS REALLY HODY AND HIS CREW...I!" as the scene below shows chaos. "WHAT IN THE WORLD HAS HAPPENED HERE...I!" A guard cries, "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS...I" while another shouts, "CAP'N HOJY!!!" Hody Jones roars, "AAAAAU GHHHH HHHH!!!" and snaps the prison bars with his bare hands, yelling, "DON'T GO THINKING YOU CAN KEEP ME LOCKED UP IN THIS CAGE, YOU WORTHLESS ROYALS!" The explanation follows: "*PANT*... TRUE ENOUGH! IT WAS ME WHO STOLE THEM!" A fish-man continues, "THE CULPRIT WAS NEVER FOUND, AND THE KING DECIDED TO KEEP THE ENTIRE INCIDENT UNDER WRAPS. BUT COME TO THINK OF IT, THIS HAPPENED AROUND THE SAME TIME THAT YOU LEFT THE NEPTUNE ARMY, HODY!" The speaker concludes, "IT IS AS I SUSPECTED... THESE 'ENERGY STEROIDS' MUST HAVE BEEN NONE OTHER THAN THE LEGENDARY PILLS THAT WERE STORED INSIDE THE ROYAL TAMATEBAKO! IN TRUTH, THE CONTENTS OF THE TAMATEBAKO WERE STOLEN TEN YEARS AGO IN A LITTLE-KNOWN INCIDENT..."

King Neptune continues gravely, "A CURIOUS ITEM INDEED TO BE KEPT AS A NATIONAL TREASURE... I SUSPECT THAT THEY WERE PLACED INTO THE CUSTODY OF THE ROYAL FAMILY AS A MEANS OF SEALING THEM AWAY, AND PROTECTING THE PEOPLE FROM THEIR DANGEROUS EFFECTS! THE NATURE OF THE PILLS INSIDE THE TAMATEBAKO HAS NEVER BEEN ENTIRELY CLEAR, EVEN AMONG THE ROYAL FAMILY... ONE THEORY CLAIMS THAT THEY GRANT THE USER THE STRENGTH OF A THOUSAND MEN. ANOTHER CLAIMS THAT THEY SIMPLY CAUSE HIM TO AGE OVERNIGHT..." Neptune glares down at Hody and warns, "THOUGH YOU THOUGHT IT GRANTED YOU POWER, THAT WAS NO MORE THAN A FOOLISH DREAM. YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE OPENED THAT BOX, HODY." Hody and his men pant heavily in their weakened state. Neptune says, "I FIND MYSELF ALMOST PITYING THEM. PERHAPS I WILL HAVE TO RETHINK THEIR SENTENCE..." Hody retorts, "SILENCE, I SAY!!! WE ARE THE CHOSEN AVENGERS OF OUR KIND...! WE WILL SLAUGHTER THE HUMANS, AND YOU ALONGSIDE THEM, YOU HEARI!!" Neptune orders, "SILENCE, NEPTUNE!!" as the prisoners continue to pant.

In the grand hall of Fish-Man Island, a stern fish-man with long flowing hair and a headband glares intensely. "IT WOULD NOT DO FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE ISLAND TO HEAR YOUR TAINTED WORDS," declares a voice from off-panel. The long-haired figure continues firmly, "...SO PLEASE... JUST BE QUIET." Another fish-man with curly hair responds, "...I WILL NOT RESENT YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID TO MY MOTHER." A furious shout erupts: "IS THAT YOU, FUKABOSHI, YOU FILTHY DISGRACEI!" Elsewhere in the damaged chamber, the Minister of the Left, a large fish-man with a prominent nose, beads, and sweat on his face, speaks urgently. "WE DON'T HAVE ANY SWEETS TO GIVE TO THEM, MINISTER! THE FACTORY WAS RANSACKED BY HODY'S CREW, OF COURSE..." A smaller figure adds, "AH, THE ENVOYS OF BIG MOM..." The Minister continues, "...HAVE JUST ARRIVED AT THE SWEET FACTORY... MR PEKOMS AND BARON TAMAGO..." A voice calls out, "MINISTER OF THE LEFT!!" In a dramatic close-up, the Minister of the Left sweats heavily while explaining, "AFTER ALL, WE ARE DEALING WITH THAT MONSTER WHO HAS BEEN KNOWN TO RAZE ENTIRE COUNTRIES FOR THE SAKE OF SWEETS......THE YONKOU, 'BIG MOM'!!" He adds, "...IT IS HARD TO SAY WHETHER SUCH EXCUSES WILL BE SUFFICIENT..." Another figure insists, "...AND EVERYONE INSISTED THAT THE REMAINING SWEETS......SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE BANQUET FOR THE STRAW HATS TO ENJOY!"
