OVERTURE

Wyper, a Shandia warrior with tribal tattoos and a cigarette in his mouth, speaks to the young girl Aisa. He asks, 'Aisa, you said earlier that... your "Mantra"... you said two "sounds" became silent. Correct?' Aisa, looking nervous and clutching the leg of another Shandia warrior, Laki, replies, 'One of the priests......um... yes, at the same time... probably Gan Fall and...' The scene shifts to a wide view of the Shandia village, featuring tents and tall totem poles under the sky. Wyper's voice declares, 'The true God has answered our prayers...!! This is our chance! If we are to succeed, we must move now!'

Aisa urgently clarifies, 'Gan Fall didn't beat the priest!! There are other people there. They did it!!' Laki looks surprised and says, 'What?' She then tells Aisa, 'You're still not used to Waipa... geez, stop clinging on to me like that.' Aisa yelps, 'Ouch! Hey, Laki!' as Laki pulls her away. Aisa then panics, 'N... NO!! NO WAY! This is my secret purse! My treasure is inside...' Laki, holding the small purse, says, 'Hey... give me the purse!' Laki's expression turns serious as she warns, 'So you have to be careful. I don't know who they are... but they are really strong guys!' Wyper is shown exhaling a puff of smoke, looking intense. He asks, 'Really!?' Laki smiles confidently, holding up a finger, and replies, '...I'll get some for you.'

Usopp's face fills the top panel as he screams in panic, 'HURRY~~~!!! It'll leave the forest soon~!!! Luffy! Sanji~!! I found the boat!' Below, Sanji and Luffy look up in surprise, noticing his voice. The bottom panel reveals a wide view of the area. The spherical priest Satori lies defeated and unconscious on the ground, his body deflated. Luffy and Sanji stand near him. Sanji remarks, 'Oh... isn't that Usopp? It seems that guy is alright. I thought he was blown into bits because he disappeared after the explosion. Heh.' Luffy adds, 'He actually found it.' From off-screen, Usopp continues to yell, 'HURRY~~~!!!' while another voice notes, 'Oh!! He said something about the boat!! Let's hurry and get there!!'

Usopp swings wildly through the giant trees on a rope, screaming 'USOPP A~~~ AAH~~~~!' He looks panicked as he swings upward, thinking, 'This is bad...!! That upward road must be the exit!!' He spots Luffy and Sanji below and yells, 'Hey, you two! Grab on to my body! Hurry!' As he swings past them, he shouts, 'You're not running away from me!! Karasu-Maru!' Luffy and Sanji leap up and grab onto Usopp's waist and legs with loud 'DON!!', 'PON!!', 'PAH!!', and 'BAH!!' sound effects. Usopp, struggling under their weight, boasts, 'Now that you have witnessed the amazing power of my "Usopp A~~~..."' but his sentence is cut short as he slams face-first into a thick tree branch with a loud 'GAKIIN', crying out 'AHHH!! AAH?'. In the final panel, the crow-shaped dial boat, Karasu-Maru, is shown waiting. A voice cheers, 'Alright~~~! I got it! Way to go Usopp!!!'

The Karasu-Maru boat glides smoothly along the cloud river. Usopp lies face down on the deck, groaning in pain from his collision with the branch. Luffy sits nearby, casually saying, 'S'all good... S'all good...' while Sanji mutters, 'You punk...' Usopp weakly vows, 'I'll remember this......next time... I'll just stretch my arms... myself...' The boat continues its journey, exiting the dense woods. A narration box reads: '"Dial Boat, Karasu-Maru" and its crews safely passed the "Forest of Illusion"~~~~ ~~~And now they sail on to Upper Yard...' In the bottom panel, the boat bursts out of the cloud river into a wide, open expanse with a loud 'BAN!!', leaving the forest behind.

Zoro looks back over his shoulder, calling out, 'Oi, Nami! Just tell me, what did you see?' The scene shows the massive, twisting roots of the giant trees. Nami, standing further back with Nico Robin, points forward and says, '~~~So we'll know everything once we get to the coast, right? Normally aren't people who say "follow me" supposed be in the front? ~~~Give me a hand.' Zoro continues walking away, dismissing her complaint: 'Nevermind that, just shut up and follow me. Somehow we must get out to the coast.' Nami looks determined but anxious, sweating slightly as she replies, '...Yes... anyway, I have to get closer to make sure because I can't believe what I saw!!!'

A shadowy figure, Enel, sits casually on a stone throne or shrine, remarking, 'Immature...' He continues, 'Satori lost... his mantra was disrupted... It seems like we underestimated these citizens of the Blue Sea.' The scene shifts to the other priests. Ohm, wearing sunglasses, grunts, 'More importantly, right now... NNNN...!! MNNNN'. Gedatsu, with his spider-like dreadlocks, speaks up, 'Shh. They are not like the others. They were unrestrained at the altar, too... But they have no means of escaping. Even if they are left alone...' Gedatsu's face is then shown in a close-up, looking furious and biting his lower lip intensely as he makes strange noises: 'NNNNNMNNN... MNNNNNN!! NNNNNN NNNNN!!!' Someone off-screen tells him to 'SHHH'.

In a desolate area of the forest, human skulls are mounted on wooden stakes. Ohm's voice notes, '...The results are the same no matter how many times they battle.... Do you hear the voice of the sad warrior, Holy...?' His giant dog, Holy, barks 'WAFF!!' in response. Ohm is seen sitting on the ground with Holy beside him. He says, 'Gan Fall was defeated by Shura, but the trial of orb has been defeated... Tsk. Today has been an eventful one. Those guerrillas can only be heading for one place... I shall not let them through... seeing God is presumptuous.' In a close-up, Ohm adjusts his sunglasses, a serious expression on his face. He declares, 'The sun is setting... but it seems Upper Yard may yet be... DESOLATED!!!'

Silhouettes of Shandia warriors leap through the air, propelled by a bright flash of light and the sound of 'HYUOOO'. They land on the cloud surface, using dials attached to their skates to glide forward at high speeds with 'SHUOOO' sounds. The warriors charge aggressively, their weapons drawn. In the bottom panel, a massive explosion erupts on the cloud ground with a deafening 'ZASHUAAA', sending debris flying as the Shandia forces launch their full-scale assault.

A large fleet of Shandia warriors speeds across the cloud sea towards Upper Yard. A voice commands, 'Everyone got that...!? "Upper Yard" has many openings right now...! This is a rare chance...!' The warriors surge forward, their skates kicking up clouds. In the foreground, Wyper leads the charge, holding his massive bazooka. He yells fiercely, 'Our target will always be the shrine of God!!! Don't be afraid of the fake God!!! The great warrior Calgara is our guardian! OOOO!'

Close-up panels show the faces of the leading Shandia warriors as they charge. Voices call out their names: 'Braham!!', 'Kamakiri!', and 'Genbou!'. They ready their weapons, with sounds of 'CHING' and 'SWUSS SWUSS'. Wyper, gliding alongside Laki, shouts, 'We depart here!!!' Laki looks at him with concern and says, 'Don't die!' Wyper responds with a grunt, 'AA!'. In the bottom panel, Wyper aims his bazooka forward, his face set in fierce determination. He declares, 'I swear in the great warrior Calgara's name...'

A massive, fiery explosion erupts in the dense forest of Upper Yard, sending a huge plume of smoke and debris into the sky with a deafening 'DOGOOOON!!!'. A voice roars, 'I will ignite the light of Shandora!' Below the explosion, close-up panels show the intense, determined faces of Kamakiri, Braham, and Wyper. Together, they shout a rallying cry: 'COME, SHANDIA!!'

Pagaya and Conis are shown looking shocked and disoriented. Pagaya stammers, 'H.... How.... am I still alive...?' He pants heavily, 'Haa.... Ha.... How... Haa...', his face covered in sweat. Looking up at the sky, he wonders, 'Hm...! But who was it that saved us...?' The scene reveals Gan Fall, the Knight of the Sky, and his giant bird Pierre lying unconscious and battered on the ground. Pagaya realizes, '...Ah!!...Great!! The Knight of the Sky...!! The weird bird, too... Ah...! I have to treat them!' Suddenly, Conis screams in absolute terror, 'WAAAHHHH~!', her eyes wide with fear. Beside her, the small cloud fox Su also looks shocked, uttering 'Ah......aah'.

Nami, Zoro, and Nico Robin walk through the massive, twisting roots of Upper Yard. Nami stops and says, 'Haven't we seen this before?' She points ahead, panting slightly, 'Haa... Ha... Look!' Robin observes the surroundings and deduces, 'Which means that this island used to be on the ground... It was strange that this island wasn't made out of clouds...' Nami interrupts, '...No it isn't! This is the other half of the one down there.' Zoro looks thoroughly confused, asking, 'Is it the same one?...What the...? Wasn't that on the ground...?' Nami explains her realization: '...I was wondering at first, because that house was two stories high... but there were no stairs to get to the 2nd floor... And there was no reason to build a house on a seaside cliff like that... unless that cliff by the sea is the point of connection with this island!'

A wide shot reveals a stone house built into the giant roots, but it is cleanly sliced in half, with the missing portion replaced by wooden boards. Zoro, Nami, and Robin stand on a cliff overlooking the structure. In the background, Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp are arriving. Nami confidently declares, '...was originally Jaya! This island... this is the other half of the island.' Zoro looks at the house in disbelief and says, 'Eh!? It's just a wooden board? The house was really only half... the rest was plywood.' The revelation hangs in the air as the crew takes in the sight of the bisected building.

Nami's face is shown in close-up, her eyes wide with awe as she pieces the mystery together. 'Jaya had always been... floating in the sky...!!' A sweeping view of the dense forest of Upper Yard is shown under the clouds. Nami's voice continues, 'It was on the ground... but the golden city Norland found didn't sink........!!! For 400 years...' On the right side of the page, giant South Birds fly overhead, crying 'CHOH~~~~!!'. Usopp looks up in shock, 'Such huge South Birds! How did they get here?' Meanwhile, Luffy and Sanji are goofing off; Sanji laughs hysterically, 'WAAAHA HAHAH!!! *COUGH* HAHAHAHA!!!', while Luffy sleeps standing up, 'OH!? It's morning.... ZZZZZ...'. Usopp yells at them, 'No, no, no! It's like this, Usopp! You two are too relaxed! Idiots!' Below them, Zoro and Robin observe the birds. Robin concludes, 'That island split in two... and this half came to the sky....So for some reason...'
