The title page reads "CHAPTER 772: 'CABBAGE & ROMEO'" under the One Piece logo and Eiichiro Oda's name. The cover-story caption says, "SOLO VOYAGE OF JINBE, FIRST SON OF THE SEA, VOL. 18: 'MEETING THE UMI-BOUZU, WADATSUMI! [NO NEED FOR FORMALITIES]'" Jinbe stands underwater before the enormous Wadatsumi, who raises a hand beside a small speech bubble marked "!?" The offerings from the previous cover story lie scattered on the sea floor. Scanner-host footer text is present and ignored.

On the sunflower field, a box locates the action at "a plateau in the royal palace - fourth floor" and another label says "Sunflower Field." A side caption announces, "Up against evil itself! The decisive battle reaches its climax!!" Cavendish laughs, "Uhaha haha!!" and taunts Kyros, "How do you like that ground-flittering and fluttering?!" Seeing Kyros down on one leg, he says it must be hard just standing up and calls him "one-legged." Cavendish then connects the story, saying, "Soldier!! So you were Scarlet's husband!! That day, you were that unsightly, little toy that was crying and sobbing." Kyros silently recognizes him, and Cavendish declares, "Our fates are bound!! Kyros!!! And Rebecca's father...!! This is just fantastic...!! You and I..."

Cavendish continues, "Indeed, that is why I have come here!!" and slashes at Gladius while saying, "Ooooooo tototo!! That's quite the impressive movement there for only having one leg!! But watch yourself, my cape is made of iron!" Rebecca gasps as Cavendish draws his sword and calls "Viper Glaive!!!" A translator note explains it is pronounced "Vuipera," from viper, the genus, with kanji meaning "snake sword." Cavendish whips his blade and cape through the sunflower field, forcing Gladius to evade while protecting Kyros and Rebecca.

Rebecca cries, "Father!! Let me fight too!!" Kyros refuses, saying he is fine and only wants to protect her "for Scarlet's sake." He wants Rebecca to see what he looks like after having lost both his wife and daughter, and says he never stopped regretting it even to this day. Rebecca admits that at this point he keeps targeting her and that she is nothing more than a burden, but Kyros says, "Let me atone for what happened...!! The fact that I forced you to learn about wars and battles...!!" Remembering his return to humanity, he vows, "Now that I've returned to being human!! I will never again... let my daughter wield the likes of a sword!!!"

The scene shifts to the second floor, where someone reports, "Lao G-sama has been beaten!!" and another marvels, "What incredible destructive power..." Zoro, still thinking about the Flower Country's Happou Navy, says, "I believe I've heard that name before...!!" He notes that he had better remember it because he may run into someone from it again. Baby 5 cheerfully asks for "two ceremony halls," one for a wedding and one for a funeral, while Sai angrily demands to know who is dead. Below, another blast lands on the third floor with "Plooombf!!" and an enemy cries, "Shit, it can't be!! Gladius-sama!"

On the third floor, Gladius's powers trigger with "punk" and "rock" sounds as soldiers scream, "Gladius-sama! At this rate this is gonna kill us too!" and "It'll be fine. After all, you guys are elite soldiers, aren't you?" One panics, "Fucking open it--!!!" Another explains, "You know what happens next? The entire surface is inflating and swelling up...!!" Gladius says, "He had been lurking all about, messing with the ground... now that I think about it... so he was setting all this up!!" The ground bulges everywhere while people shout, "Gyaaaaa!! Look out!! Run for it--!!!" Bartolomeo holds Robin in his barrier and says, "Let me in the barrier!!!" while she warns that opening it would endanger her and Robin-senpai. Bartolomeo argues, "Just open the damn thing!! We're on the same frickin' side, aren't we?!"

Gladius's swelling ground explodes, and he says, "Farewell, Cavendish!!" as people are thrown through rubble with "Unaaaaah!!!" Cavendish suddenly appears beside Bartolomeo in the barrier. Bartolomeo yells, "You dickwad!! If you were gonna let me in, then you should have just done it in the first place! I nearly shat a brick!!" Cavendish answers, "If you were outside in that mess, you'd be dead in an instant-bay." Bartolomeo shouts back that Cavendish at least could have hung out a while before running off selfishly. Cavendish snaps that if he had stayed any longer, his stench would have rubbed off. The two argue while the explosion rips through the area.

Bartolomeo and Cavendish continue bickering inside the barrier. Bartolomeo asks, "The hell is with you, man!! Is that any way for someone who just got his ass saved to talk?!" Cavendish says he was only out there because he was covering Bartolomeo, making them even. Bartolomeo complains, "Ehhh?!! You just got done demanding to be let in and now you want out?!!" Cavendish tells him to hurry and let him out because the attack is over. Their allies shout, "Fine, see if I ever let you in again!!" and "If shit hits the fan again, you'd better!! Damn you're stingy!!" Rebecca and Robin are safe; Bartolomeo says, "Ah, I forgot about Robin-senpai...!!" and "Phew, I'm so glad she's okay-bay!!" Robin pants and calls up, "Rebecca, I hope you are alright...!! I'm sorry for letting you go off on your own. Especially when above this place is the 'monsters' battleground!!"

Gladius notices Robin moving upward and asks, "What is she going up for..." He realizes, "She's a clever one, that Nico Robin!!" Robin is launched in a barrier, and Bartolomeo uses "Barrier-bility... Racket!!" Gladius tries to stop her with "Catapult Punk!!!" and screams, "I won't let you interfere with the top inner-circle members anymore!!!" Robin flies past him and winks down, saying, "Chicken-kun!! You're the best!" Bartolomeo blushes and laughs, "Hehahahahaha!!" while someone realizes, "So, she was saved by his barrier?!" The page shows Robin using Bartolomeo's barrier as a projectile path to continue climbing toward the next fight.

Bartolomeo is overwhelmed by Robin's praise, crying that he is "not worthy-bay...!!" He says he had been meaning to say, "Well done, Chicken-kun. I'll let you be my manservant now," and now feels ashamed for getting carried away. Gladius notices Bartolomeo's tension rising and says, "She... she winked at me!!!" Cavendish appears from the barrier too, telling Gladius, "Sorry to disappoint you, Gladius!! You were in the barrier too...!!" He calls out, "Cavendish!!" while Gladius's body begins charging new attacks labeled "Blue... Biken!!" and "Blacknium..."

Gladius unleashes "Barrier Bulls~~~!!!" and the giant swelling projectiles charge toward the group. People scream, "Gyaa aaaaa aaah!!!" and warn, "The 'Barrier' is charging towards us--!!!" Cavendish calls, "Bartolomeo!!!" and says, "Robin-senpai, your winks are worth... a man putting his life on the line for-bay!!!" Bartolomeo insists he is still inside the barrier and tells him to stop, but Gladius refuses to cut the attack out, saying, "Sorry, Cabbage!! But I have a reason for not stopping!!!" He adds that his tension is way too high, while Bartolomeo shouts, "What the fuck are you even talking about?! Just cut it out already!!!"

Farther up, Dellinger asks Gladius, "What are you doing?!" and says he still has not taken care of the second floor. Gladius says he is finished over here and orders Dellinger, "Come provide backup for the third floor!! Nico Robin is trying to ascend upwards!!" Dellinger answers, "Kyaaa, Roger!! That sounds kinda fun, actually!!" Gladius says he has his hands full dealing with Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Robin is struck by Dellinger's kick and cries, "Kyaaa!!" Gladius, still staring away, tells Bartolomeo, "I told you... haah... not to look away...!!" Bartolomeo complains, "Geez, you're stubborn, arentcha, long-arm-tribe!!" and admits that Bartolomeo's bones sticking out from his shoulder are strange.

Bartolomeo and Gladius prepare to finish their clash. Bartolomeo grins, "Just roll over and die!! Mr. Grappling Champion." He mocks Gladius for having the guts to let all the bad things leak out of the hole he ripped open, while Gladius shouts, "Kyaa, spare me that mumbo jumbo... trying to act all gallant doesn't fit you at all!!" Bartolomeo says duty and honor are a man's world and that he would not be able to face those who died before him otherwise; a translator note clarifies the line literally says "humanity" but means doing what is right, conscience, honor, and sense. Bartolomeo adds that if playing dead would have let Robin slide, he would have done it, but standing up is useful because it buys time until Straw Hat can take down Doflamingo. Robin, climbing away, thinks they are all in this together because victory can never be attained alone, and Bartolomeo jokes that climbing a pile of sacrifices to obtain victory sounds like something one would do with garbage.

Gladius snarls, "The strong have no need for honor!!!" and snaps his own body open with a bloody burst, but Bartolomeo stands unfazed. Bartolomeo answers, "I'm no ordinary human, either. You'd do wise not to underestimate the Fighting Fish bloodline...!!!" Below, Dellinger lands on the third floor, stepping through the rubble as Gladius calls, "Gladius!! I'm here!" A confused voice asks, "Where are you?!" Dellinger smiles and looks for the enemy amid the smoke and broken ground.

Dellinger smirks and asks what happened, while Gladius warns from the distance, "Dellinger, stay down there!! It's dangerous right now!!" Dellinger instead sees a terrifying enemy appear over the barrier and says, "Kyaa, I never thought I'd hear those words from you, Gladius!!" Others shout that there is a terrifying enemy and that a scary person showed up over the barrier. Hakuba, Cavendish's alternate personality, appears fully awakened and leans over Dellinger with a sword drawn. Cavendish's terrifying face looms in the smoke as the ending panel marks "ONE PIECE Ch. 772 END."
