The Thousand Sunny pitches violently through massive waves and stormy seas as an island erupts in the distance. A huge splash erupts beside the ship while Luffy leans over the railing, shouting with wide eyes and an open mouth. Nami stands nearby in panic. Speech bubbles read: 'LOOK! THAT ISLAND OVER THERE JUST ERUPTED!!!', 'WHOOO OOOAA AAA!!!', 'IT'S RIGHT THERE, ISN'T ITI!! WHO CARES WHERE THE NEEDLES ARE POINTING!!', 'I DON'T CARE HOW WEIRD IT IS, THAT'S WHERE WE'RE GOING!!', 'NOT ONE OF OUR THREE LOG POSE NEEDLES IS POINTING TO THAT ISLAND!!', 'LISTEN TO ME, LUFFY, ALL RIGHTI!!!', 'NOT A CHANCE! WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR IT!!!', 'IT'S NOT NORMAL EVEN BY THE NEW WORLD'S STANDARDS!!', and 'FAREWELL, LABOON'S FAMILY! TAKE CARE!!'. The crew reacts with alarm as the ship rocks wildly.

The Sunny continues to be battered by enormous waves and burning seas. A massive fish skeleton surfaces amid the chaos. Luffy yells from the deck while Sanji stands nearby. Speech bubbles include: 'THE OCEAN IS ON FIRE, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!', 'THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!', 'ASIDE FROM THIS PIECE I MANAGED TO CARVE OUT, THE WHOLE THING IS A CRISP.', 'HEY, LUFFY, I HAVE A PIECE OF BAD NEWS FOR YOU.', 'IT'S ABOUT THAT GIGANTIC FISH WE CAUGHT.', 'THE FISH GOT BURNED UP BY THE SEA!!!', 'AAAAAAGHHHH!!', 'LOOK AT THOSE FISH SKELETONS!! THEY'RE ALL JUST BONES!!!', 'I DON'T CARE HOW STRONG THE SUNNY IS, THIS SEA IS STILL RIDICULOUS!!', 'NO WAY!! THE SUNNY IS MADE OF STERNER STUFF THAN THAT!!!', 'OUR SHIP IS GOING TO BE NEXT!!!', and 'HMI YOU CALLEDI'. Multiple 'POP' sounds and large impact effects fill the panels as the crew struggles against the violent waters.

Inside the Sunny's control room, Luffy grabs a ringing Den Den Mushi with a frantic expression as it emits loud crying sounds: 'PUOHOHOH POOHOOH HHHHH!!!', 'PUOHO OOOOO OHHHHH!', and 'PUOHO OOOOO OHHHHH!'. Robin stands by the equipment while Franky works nearby. Speech bubbles read: 'DON'T BE STUPID - THAT'S A DISTRESS SIGNAL!! Luffy frantically answers a baby Den Den Mushi as desperate voices scream through the receiver. "HELP! PLEASE! ANYONE!!!" one cries. Another voice demands, "DID YOU REALLY NEED TO SAY THATI!!!" Luffy shouts back with a huge grin, "I'M GOING TO BE THE PIRATE KING!!!" A confused voice answers, "HELLOI! THIS IS LUFFY!!" Below, the scene shifts to a chaotic marine base where terrified sailors run for their lives. "WE'RE ALL GONNA BE KILLED BY THE SAMURAI!!!!!!" one yells while panting. Another adds, "WE'RE BEING SLICED DOWN ONE AFTER ANOTHER... IT'S NO USE...!!!" Luffy, still on the line, snaps, "NO, I'M NOT YOUR BOSS, DID YOU SAY IT'S COLDI!" A shaky voice replies, "IT'S COLD... SO COLD... IS THAT YOU, BOSS...I!" The final wide panel erupts with the massive title "PUNK HAZARD!!!" as Luffy yells into the snail, "WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOWI!" and "HEY!! WHO ARE YOUI! WHAT'S YOUR NAMEI!" while an unseen caller begs, "WHOEVER YOU ARE, YOU HAVE TO HELP US, PLEASE...! WE'RE AT A PLACE CALLED..."

Screams erupt across the marine facility as a swordsman cuts through soldiers. "AAAAAAAAAAH HHHHH!!! HE GOT SLICED UP TOO!!!" someone howls while Brook and other figures react in horror with "あぁ" and "GHH HHHH HH-". Luffy stares in shock. In the next spread, Brook compliments a woman, "C'MON! SUCH A CALM BEAUTY!" while she replies, "WE DON'T KNOW THAT. IT COULD ALL HAVE BEEN AN ACT TO LURE US IN." A man insists, "OF COURSE IT'S AN INCIDENT, YOU IDIOT!!! THAT GUY JUST GOT MURDERED!!!" Luffy sweats, muttering, "...! I SMELL AN INCIDENT AFOOT!" The bottom panels show silhouettes of samurai before a large "和" symbol as characters discuss, "THEY SAY THE COUNTRY'S SWORDSMEN, THE SAMURAI, ARE SO TERRIFYINGLY STRONG... THEY ARE NOT EVEN A PART OF THE WORLD GOVERNMENT." Another adds, "THE WANO COUNTRY IS A SEALED-OFF NATION WHOSE PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE KINDLY TO OUTSIDERS..." Brook notes, "INDEED. The crew debates the call. Robin suggests, "ASSUMING HE WAS USING A BABY DEN-DEN MUSHI, THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY PLACE..." Franky realizes, "YOU THINK THAT'S THE FLAMING ISLANDI!" Luffy recalls, "HE SAID HE WAS AT 'PUNK HAZARD'!" Chopper worries, "BUT THAT GUY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE WANO COUNTRY." Luffy yells, "YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME...!!!" The next panel shows Luffy charging forward with intense motion lines, shouting, "ALL RIGHT!! LET'S GO AND SAVE HIM THEN!!!" while terrified voices cry, "THOSE SAMURAI SOUND SCARY!!!" and "SURELY IT'S TOO LATE FOR THAT!" A massive SFX "ばーん!!" and "ぎゃあああああ" rings out. Tashigi questions the route, "UGH... WHAT THE HELL KIND OF ROUTE ARE THOSE PUNKS TAKING...I" as a voice reports, "SMOKER-SAN! WAS THAT...I!" The final panel shows the G-5 ship sailing toward a volcanic island labeled "PUNK HAZARD" with screams echoing, "...GYAA AAAARGH HHH!!!"

Tashigi protests, "THAT'S QUITE ENOUGH OF THAT!!!" and "STOP BULLYING THE PIRATE...!!!" while a pirate screams, "AHAHA HA!! SO HOT!! IT BURNS!! HELP ME!!" and another voice notes, "...UNDER ORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES..." Smoker stands tall in his signature jacket and cigars, declaring, "WE OUGHT TO HAVE A ONE-IN-THREE CHANCE..." A diagram explains the three reachable islands from Fish-Man Island: Risky Red Island, Raijin Island, and Mistria Island. Smoker continues, "THE THREE ISLANDS THAT CAN BE REACHED BY LOG POSE FROM FISH-MAN ISLAND ARE RISKY RED ISLAND, RAIJIN ISLAND AND MISTRIA ISLAND. I CAME HERE ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT STRAW HAT WOULD CHOOSE THE PATH TO RAIJIN ISLAND, WHERE THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS MOST UNSTABLE..." He adds, "...AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ROUTE FROM THOSE THREE... BUT TO THINK HE WOULD FOLLOW..." A large sign identifies him as "MARINE VICE-ADMIRAL AT 'G-5' THE FIFTH MARINE BRANCH STATION IN THE GRAND LINE Smoker the White Hunter" with his iconic "J" emblem.

The massive volcanic island of Punk Hazard looms ahead, its peak erupting violently with smoke and lava. A Marine ship sails toward it across rough seas. Narration explains, "...PUNK HAZARD HAS BEEN A SEALED-OFF ISLAND, COMPLETELY DEVOID OF HUMAN LIFE!!" A voice adds, "EVER SINCE THE ACCIDENT FOUR YEARS AGO..." Another Marine questions, "BUT, SMOKER-SAN!! WHY WOULD THERE BE SOMEONE THERE NOWI!" Smoker, close-up with sunglasses and cigar, replies, "IT'S STRANGE, ALL RIGHT. I DON'T SEE HOW ANY KIND OF LIVING THING... COULD SURVIVE ON THAT ISLAND IN ITS CURRENT STATE..." He orders, "LET'S GET MOVING, MEN!!" A subordinate notes, "BUT IT'S THE ONLY LEAD WE'VE GOT." On the deck of the Marine ship marked "G-5," crew members protest, "JUST GET THIS SHIP MOVING, YOU LAYABOUTS!!!" "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR A LECTURE ON LAW FROM YOU." "DON'T YOU KNOW THAT ISLAND IS OFF-LIMITSI!" "WHAAAA AAAATI! BUT, VICE-ADMIRAL SMOKER!!" Smoker snaps back as the ship surges forward amid splashes and motion lines, "Y-YES, SIR!!!"

On the deck, crew members draw marked straws. Someone yells, "WHO DREW THE MARKED STRAWSI" The group answers, "WE DID." A panicked voice shouts, "OH, MAN!! I CAN'T WAIT TO EAT IT!!!" Another complains, "THERE YOU GO - A DEEP-SEA FISH LUNCHBOX!!" Someone else demands, "SOMEBODY TRADE WITH ME!!!" A woman suggests, "WELL, THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING!" Luffy stands shocked, hand to his head, mouth agape as he yells, "WHOOOOOAAAAA!!" with sweat drops flying. Nami rides a small craft along a swirling white cloud path labeled "MILKY ROAD!!" with dramatic speed lines and impact effects. The narration notes, "IT'S JUST LIKE THE STUFF WE SAW BACK ON THE SKY ISLANDS!!" A voice exclaims, "THAT'S AWESOME!! IT'S A ROAD MADE OF CLOUD!!" Nami calls out cheerfully, "EHEHEH! HURRY ON ACROSS WHILE THE CLOUDS ARE STILL STABLE!" as the massive ship follows the winding cloud trail toward the island.

The Straw Hats prepare to disembark from their ship onto the cloud path. Voices call out, "CHIN UP, USOPP!!" "YOHOHO HO! BON VOYAGE!" "WE'LL BE ABLE TO GO TOO LATER." "YOU GUYS HAVE ALL THE LUCK..." "GOOD LUCK, YOU GUYS!!" Luffy cheers, "ALL RIGHT!! HERE GOES THE SCOUTING PARTY!! WE'RE COUNTING ON YOU, MINI-MERRY!!!" Usopp yells, "SOMEBODY TAKE MY PLACE!!!" Chopper in his horned form panics, "OWW!! HOT HOT!!" A fish-like creature complains nearby. The Mini Merry, carrying Luffy, Chopper, and others, launches down the cloud trail. A voice notes, "PERFECT WEATHER FOR SCOUTING!" Another replies, "GOOD THING THE RAIN DIED DOWN, HUHI" Someone asks, "BUT IT'S SO HOT!!" From the ship, a figure wonders, "DO THOSE CLOUDS REALLY REACH ALL THE WAY TO THE ISLANDI" "WHO KNOWSI" As the craft speeds along, voices shout, "THESE CLOUDS HAD BETTER TAKE US SAFELY BACK AS WELL!!" "WE'RE GOING RIGHT OVER THE FIERY SEA!!" "WHOAAAA, WE'RE GOING UP!! THIS IS FUN!!" with motion lines and "ZNNN" effects.

Nami waves enthusiastically from the railing, saying, "RIGHT!! WAIT RIGHT THERE, NAMI-SAN, AND I'LL WHIP UP A NICE COLD DEEPSEA-FISH DESSERT!" A crewmate adds, "ONCE HE SEES THERE'S NOTHING THERE, HE'LL COME STRAIGHT BACK!" Another notes, "WELL, WE COULDN'T EXACTLY LET HIM GO ALONE." A relieved voice admits, "AHHHHHH... I'M SO GLAD I DIDN'T DRAW ONE OF THE GO-WITH-LUFFY STRAWS... I CAN'T STAND HOT PLACES..." Luffy's distant yell echoes, "YEAHHHH!!" Robin and others observe the island from afar. A voice states, "THAT DEN-DEN MUSHI MUST'VE BEEN TRANSMITTING FROM SOME FAR-OFF ISLAND, IT'S THE ONLY EXPLANATION! RIGHT, ROBINI" Robin replies, "BUT NOBODY COULD POSSIBLY LIVE HERE NOW!!" Usopp points excitedly, "LOOK, SEEI THAT HAS TO BE AN ENTRANCE!!" Someone remarks, "IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE MUCH, BUT THIS IS SURPRISINGLY DELICIOUS!" On the cloud path, Luffy clutches his stomach in distress, shouting, "LISTEN, YOU GUYS, I HAVE THIS CONDITION CALLED 'I-CAN'T-GO-ONTO-THAT-ISLAND DISEASE'!!!" "AHHHH... The Straw Hats arrive at a massive, heavily fortified gate labeled 'PUNK HAZARD'. A large sign reads 'PUNK HAZARD ISLAND ENTRANCE'. Someone remarks, 'THE NAME CERTAINLY MATCHES.' Another replies, 'WELL, THERE'S NO MISTAKING IT...' A speech bubble suggests, 'LET'S PULL THE MERRY UP ONTO THE ISLAND...' The crew spots a massive 'DANGER KEEP OUT' warning bearing both the Marine and World Government emblems. Usopp exclaims, 'AH! LOOK AT THIS, LUFFY!! IT LOOKS LIKE THIS ISLAND IS SEALED OFF!' A sweating man with a scar concludes, 'I GUESS THAT DISTRESS SIGNAL REALLY DID COME FROM SOMEWHERE IN HERE...' Another voice states, 'IN OTHER WORDS, EVEN IF THERE WAS SOMEONE IN HERE, THEY MUST'VE BEEN MARINES!!' Luffy grins and declares, 'NO POINT HELPING THEM!! LET'S GO BACK!!' The group stares at the ominous sealed entrance.

Explosions rock the island as the crew lands amid flames and smoke. Large SFX read 'ダギャアアア!!!'. Luffy, sweating heavily in his straw hat, crouches and says, 'MAN, IT'S HOT...!!! LET'S SEE...' Robin stands nearby in a spotted outfit. Zoro, carrying a sword, warns, 'OH, RIGHT... WE'RE PIRATES...' A voice shouts, 'I HOPE YOU REALISE YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW!!' Luffy reacts with surprise. Zoro adds, 'WELL, DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!!! YOU'RE PICKING A FIGHT WITH THE WORLD GOVERNMENT HERE!!' Luffy mutters, 'OH, WAIT... WE ALREADY DID THAT...' Robin notes, 'IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THE ISLAND IS ON FIRE NATURALLY... WAS THERE SOME KIND OF DISASTERI OR AN ACCIDENTI' Zoro observes, 'THIS WHOLE PLACE REALLY IS ABLAZE...!!!' The burning industrial ruins loom behind them.

The crew explores a devastated landscape of melted, ruined buildings. A voice notes, '...USED TO BE SOME KIND OF GOVERNMENT FACILITY...' Another observes, 'THESE DON'T LOOK LIKE CIVILIAN HOUSES... I'M GUESSING THAT THIS PLACE...' Robin states, 'DON'T FORGET, FOR SOME REASON THE ISLAND CAN'T BE REACHED BY LOG POSE. IT CERTAINLY IS SUSPICIOUS.' Zoro replies, 'OR BECAUSE IT WAS A DANGEROUS PLACE TO BEGIN WITHI SO THE QUESTION IS, WHY WAS THE PLACE SEALED OFFI BECAUSE OF WHATEVER HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS FIREI' Suddenly Luffy cups his hands and yells at the top of his lungs, 'WE'VE COME TO SAVE YOU!!! HEY!!! DEN-DEN MUSHI GUY, ARE YOU HERE!!!' His face is drenched in sweat as he shouts across the ruins.

Luffy continues shouting, 'WHERE ARE YOU, SAMURAII!' A figure in the distance yells back, 'DON'T CALL FOR THOSE CRAZY MURDERERS!!! COME AND GET US!!!' The crew presses forward through the rocky, smoking terrain. In a close-up, a strange long-nosed character with a box reacts in panic, muttering, 'IT'S COLD......SO COLD...' while eating. Another voice questions, 'IS THAT YOU, BOSSI!' The figure recalls, '...THAT VOICE ON THE DEN-DEN MUSHI...!! IT KEPT SAYING IT WAS COLD!!' Luffy looks shocked. Robin wonders, 'A COLD PLACE ON THIS BLAZING-HOT ISLAND...I OR PERHAPS HIS PREDICAMENT WAS SO TERRIFYING, IT CHILLED HIM TO THE BONE...' Zoro asks, 'WHAT KIND OF LOGIC IS THATI!!' The long-nosed character snaps, 'SHUT UP!! I EAT WHEN I'M STRESSED!! FEELING HUNGRY NOW, EHI' Luffy stares in disbelief.

The crew stares at the distant island. Nami notes, "On the far side, it looks almost like an arctic climate..." Usopp adds, "There's something strange about the sky above this island." Someone replies, "Yeah..." and questions, "Something wrong, Nami...I" Nami answers, "It's the clouds..." A massive skull-shaped cloud formation looms over ruined stone structures as the ship approaches. The crew reacts in shock: "EVEN GIANTS AREN'T THIS BIG!" "WHOA!! A GIANTI!" Chopper cries, "!!!" The group on the ground gapes upward. Luffy shouts, "HUHI...I!!" while others yell, "WHAA...I!!" and "RRRGGHHH...!!!" Sweat pours down their faces as they exclaim, "NO... THEY'RE THE STUFF OF LEGEND!!" "THEY CAN'T POSSIBLY BE REAL!!" "DO THESE THINGS... ACTUALLY EXISTI!" and "WHAAA AAAAAA AAAI!!" A giant creature's roar echoes as the scene cuts to its massive form.

A massive dragon labeled "RESIDENT OF PUNK HAZARD DRAGON" towers over the group, its jaws open wide with dripping saliva and a fierce roar: "RRRGGHHHHHH...!!!" Luffy stares up in shock, shouting, "A DRAGONI!" Robin turns and asks, "WHO GOES THERE...I" Franky reacts with "HUHI!!" The dragon's enormous eye and scaled body dominate the ruined landscape as the crew stands frozen before the beast.
